Last but not least we are actually an event tagging beast. Because reapers onslaught would lower shroud skill cooldowns by 5s every time something dies you can spam shroud #4 for mass spin2win tagging.
Also by my math you can hit 30k+ gravediggers in pve.
Good, we will be successful in high end pve and in pvp if our enemies are bad enough to get hit by our super slow abilities they deserve what’s coming to them.
Its a nice idea but no 1-5 skill in the game breaks stuns. Its either all traits, utility skills or f1-5 skills. Reapers are designed to spend a lot of time in shroud hence the high stability uptime while in it but again no weapon skill in the game currently breaks stun.
Well since there’s no utility skills allowed in reaper shroud it should be fair to add a little more utility in the 1-5s.
No way in hell some of these changes stay.
I don’t know, I think a lot of what Robert said is very reasonable. The chill damage isn’t going to be amazing still. The greatsword will not do more dps to a single target than the dagger, the changes to shouts are necessary to make them viable. I think most, the greater majority, of those changes will stay.
AND IF ANYONE HERE GIVES FEEDBACK ABOUT THE REAPER BEING OP TO ANET NEXT BETA I WILL PERSONALLY CASTRATE THEM -.-
I’ll hold em down for ya

A rifle thief could be cool if they took away total stealth. If they made the new stealth for them something translucent where they are clear in color but you can make out some details (aka predator camo) that would be cool. That way if the thief is staying still he can somewhat hide but still be seen. If he moves or shoots though that stealth is gone. Then make the shots root you in place while casting. As a non thief that would be pretty balanced.

The problem is Decimate Defenses is too useful.
Please don’t get that ingrained into anyone’s head. This trait is the ONLY thing that keeps my soldier reaper useful.
I feel like this guy in pvp anyway
Those are pretty old
Childs play was obviously the horror movie theme for azura reapers lol
Why not just put 6 pieces of armor on your beta character that has the same drop down box tech that the legendaries use. Or better yet, 6 pieces of gear for runes to be put in and an open world pvp amulet with all the stat combinations you want available.
I think they did a great job theming us with horror movies in mind. I feel scary, I look scary and I move in a scary manner. However…. I think they could have left out the exposed zipper reminding everyone that it’s just a mask and the blood is fake. That’s how it feels at the moment. The speed is too slow, the damage too low, and it’s all bark no bite.
PLEASE put life force regen on soul spiral. It feels so bad on auto attack exclusively, I wouldnt mind auto attack and soul spiral but just auto attack is bad. Even if I manage to build life force outside of RS with dagger/warhorn (because lol GS) I lose it RIGHT away even with the trait. It goes so fast I feel like my ability to survive is horribly kitten. Anyone else feel this way?
I’m not sure if someone has suggested it but if they haven’t I will. If GS auto attack is going to be as long to cast as it is and with the damage it does also give the 2nd and 3rd hit in the chain the ability to generate life force. Having all of it on gs #3 is really bad with the cooldown it has. If someone dodges…. and they will…. you lose all your life force generation from your iconic weapon.
That would fit with their theme because it would be absolutely terrifying…. im all for it!
I was JUST about to post something in appreciation for these Forum responses. I know the devs are always watching even when they don’t respond but it feels better with some feedback from them in return. It makes our concerns legitimized and feel more appreciated.
As pve is currently (might change) survivability isn’t needed due to the speed at which meta builds kill things. If survivability is what we bring the viability is only there as much as the community is willing to accept it. Having a spoon is great, having a knife is helpful but when all you need is a fork suddenly the other 2 options may as well not exist.
I gathered they would nerf chill duration on some things because the way it stands with runes, sigil, and food along with the cold shoulder trait you can hit 100% chill duration or 60% in PvP.
This was indeed a big reason for the reduction in chill. It was pretty easy to make a build with the previous version that kept an enemy chilled 90-100% of the time (even in PvP without food). The current iteration is shooting for something in the area of 50-70% in order to provide windows for counterplay.
Wouldn’t the counter play be condi removal and the ability to dodge the initial application? Having 90% chill uptime is good punishment for the lack of ability to dodge a super slow weapon.
Very cool to get a response on things that have needed looking at from the player perspective. Other than thank you all I ask is you look at even just TESTING the use of utilities in shroud. Thanks!
Your standards seem unrealistic. What hits for 10k with no cooldown or resource gating? Even with thief you end up having downtime.
Um…. a weak hitting life blast… the third part of the dagger auto attack chain… im sure there are others lol
EDIT: oh and one more thing… they made it so grave digger doesnt reset its CD completely when it hits an enemy below 50%?!? I hope youre joking….

In a pve environment, and that detail is important, necro’s are Sooooo far behind in dps from the top classes and lack good group dps support. I don’t think they would buff necro damage but if necro’s had a way other than vuln to increase everyone’s dps by around 20% not only would we be taken but we would be sought after. Wells don’t last long enough to make it super OP but they last long enough to burn down a boss. I’m not sure on the implications it might have in pvp or wvw so let’s assume this is a pve exclusive thing.
But more on topic about the original idea… I think wells are already our best utilities in PvE. Have you tried the blood grandmaster trait Vampiric Rituals?
I love that trait, I use it pretty much 100% of the time but it’s value isn’t seen in pve as much as it’s noticed in wvw and spvp. The damage boost would make people look at necro’s and think “ok, we have our ps warrior now we need our well necro”. Wouldn’t that be nice to hear for pve
I agree, Tome of Knowledge should suffice. I imagine a new player would want to level a character from the beginning, to get the whole story. Apart from that, leveling in Guild Wars, really doesn’t have to take as long as in, for example, World of Warcraft.
I started a mesmer about two weeks ago, and was able to level her up instantaneously to level 20, with the birthday gift (can’t recall the name of it). With only playing less than two hours a day, I’m now level 50, and can get her to 80 when she hits level 65 with tomes of knowledge.and during all that time spent playing alone in content that your friends and family have already completed, they will have completed alot of expansion content without you – the point of a character boost is so friends and family can play together in content that none have done yet, and I think it would attract alot of new players to the game.
Actually, through all that time, I’ve done my personal story, exploration with my girl friend, lots of pvp and dungeons with guildies and friends. It’s actually been quite a social experience. Only thing I’ve done alone is my personal story and leveling my two professions.
ok, so you have friends and family that have not completed all the content and come and play with you – not all new players will have the same situation as you do, alot will have friends and family that have done everything already and are just awaiting expansion content.
Actually with down scaling there is plenty of old content that is worth doing. In fact, im usually in low level zones daily for huge epic world bosses. The issue of being a max level and going to a starting zone just DESTROYING everything isn’t felt in gw2 as it is in WoW since that’s what I assume you’re referring to. I suspect this is why they are adding the map bonuses for sought after crafting materials.

Well how about this, non-player creatures take 20% more damage while in wells.
So, this wasn’t my idea and I would credit who thought of it but… I dont know who they are. Lol anyway, the idea was that of a trait or a set of runes that make enemies standing in your wells take a % additional damage from all sources. Instant necro meta. If wells made enemies take say 20% more damage if they stand in them it would also add a lot to gameplay. If the damage bonus doesn’t stack you would need to choose to spread them over time or blow them all at once if you want to use them to heal. It would also make well of blood much better.
I play a very bunkery build that requires 3 people to get me off a point. I usually win 1v2 when people are running damage builds. Can another class do it better? Probably, but can they do it and look as good as me? Nah
From the line about our beta characters lasting through bwe 1 and 2 it sounds like that’s all there will be. Was really hoping for a 3rd or even 4th before the expac launches. I can’t think of a reason to character wipe between 2 and 3 so I’m thinking that’s the case
So heres the goal for this WvW reaper, Id like to make a soldier geared reaper with dolyak runes using GS and Staff. Id run wells to still provide those necro wells to my WvW. I would take decimate defenses so I dont need the precision (hopefully id have better dps this way). For sure would take blood magic so I can res allies and heal using wells.
Basically…. I want to be this guy thoughts?
It didnt end well for him though
That’s because he didn’t stack when his group blasted water
Basically…. I want to be this guy thoughts?
Hahaha xD Now I pictured myself as a Reaper blowing through the enemy zerg, sending them flying both left and right xD *s all fun and games in theory though :P
Knock back and knock down added to reaper auto attack confirmed rofl
I run Pvt right now on my necro and it is working out for me.
Normally vit would be a bad choice on a high HP class, BUUTTT death shroud scales with vit and toughness scales with both.
That and Necro’s get a lot of crit chance without any precision.
Marthkus, any chance your build is similar to this?: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNAoYWjc0QLNWTD22AHOOsGKZAEy/6MBigMguC1wkC-TZRBwAbOEAlLDs4EAYd/BAPBAA
Because I’ve seen great success with it. Potent in 1v1s and some 1v2, and good in team fights if only because you can fight like a rabid badger. As in, stab and AoE 1-3 people and put the pressure on while being durable (SA for the win there)
I tried pretty much the EXACT same build and I had a hard time without foot in the grave. Stun lock warriors were a nightmare.
Why would you take dolyak runes though? Unless they got a buff, i am not aware of, they should still be a bad rune set.
even worse because of (of course) death shroud.
maybe OP thought they work while in shroud?
Yea I was unaware of that, if they don’t work in Shroud then nevermind. And the reason I was considering going with so much vit is because I feel as a melee class we would not have enough defensive abilities. Our life force is pretty much all we get so the more the better.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Threads on the price of HoT are all over, but I wanted to start a new one mainly with a question about the price for NA customers outside the US.
I’m in Canada, where GW2 on release was $60 CAD. The HoT offerings can only be purchased in USD, and given the published exchange rate that puts it at ~$61 CAD for the basic package…
It’s because it’s going to have as much content as the actual game…
Hahaha ha yea… ok….. surly you MUST know that this isn’t true…. almost makes me feel ill how far off base that comment is.

You do know that muskets are pretty long right?
Take this one for example with a barrel lenght of 42 inches (110 cm) it could easily hide the bottom and top part of a rifle inspired from that in the picture linked above.

That’s Grasping at straws, it’s a staff, just accept it lol
It’s just that nobody has managed to use DS to it’s full potential. If people would finally learn how to use DS it would negate all the shortcomings necromancers have.
Could you leave this forum then please?….Yes DS is a must in PVP without it you wont kill any one especialy that mesmer that nearly 1 shoot you . Still if you use necro 100% you can kill that mesmer 1v1 .
Gw2 is not a solo game if it was Necro was a great class for it fortunatly of unfortunatly necros for team are useless with worst Dps in game among other classes with worst dps and useless party support ..
Now go and open LFG tool
Fractal lvl 50 6 k ap or 10 k ap meta zerk ELE WAR THIIEF GUARD /some times with text no necro or no Ranger
and 90% of time only meta parties are there in lvl 40 70 % only meta groups lvl 30 50 % metas
Arch most of the time only meta groups ELE WAR THIEF GUARD ……Necro instantly kicked did you tried to play ? Do you know how frustraiting is when you get kicked from party only for playing necro?
And it dosen’t matter if your better than others ….. dosent matter if because of our sustain we can melee more than other classes while war thief gose range with less dps weapons I as necro with dagger can melee most of the time and Dagger dose more dmg than any other range wepon there …
Still we are not wanted in party
With harder PVE content in HoT that will come Necro will fell all the hate even more ….on thier skin
So I beg arena FIX NECROS for PVE FIX
Or don’t I will reroll into Reventant
I’m pretty sure his comment was a snarky remark based on the devs claiming that it was a l2p issue when people were complaining about necro being weak.
Lifeforce should just regen out of combat, because with this meta, a necro with no lifeforce is a dead necro. They’ve used this “second life bar” as an excuse to not make us better time and time again. Well then, give us that 2nd life bar. It should by all means regen out of combat.
Ever tried to fight a Mesmer or Thief without lifeforce? You might as well not try, seriously.
One thing I’ve never understood is, well… If it’s a second life bar……… What does your hp do outside of combat?
……….
It regens
well is not really a second life bar is more like a soul bar it increased with sealed (deads)souls or soul steals aka building lf by hiting enemy
It was sold to us a life bar when they refused to give us better defenses. But ya know, we obviously aren’t playing it correctly and thats our issue.
Considering that life force is the reason anet won’t give us better defensives it’s like saying that your defensives should be on cool down at the start of the fight but with no benefits. Life force is really all they have.

1) Data mined info is not gospel, Anet can change anything at anytime. (As seen with tempest)
2) Teef maybe getting rifle seems more themed with an infiltration type class.
What do you mean change anything in regards to tempest? I’ve never seen anything data mined that showed anything for ele other than warhorn.
Yes please, i’d love an update since design philosophies have obviously changed since the reaper announcement.

The only data mine I saw was the warhorn picture
Edit: I’m not talking about random speculation based on people wanting to use bolt on eles. I’m talking about all of the weapons being data mined and shown. There’s a pattern with the reapers gs, the tempests warhorn, the Mesmers shield and honestly it’s the same reason I believe revs are getting shield and thieves are getting staves.
(edited by Zalavaaris.5329)
With celestial stats playing a condi necro that heals with Wells…. well…. lets just say that thieves don’t last long lol
The problem is Strength that I LOVE playng my necro, I LOVE the them and the entire idea behind the class. I just want what other classes have (high dps and dps group support). While I understand my wants are niche to a paeticular part of the content that I take part in I don’t think it’s wrong to ask to be better. And I don’t JUST pve either. I’m loving WvW with my guild and have recently gotten into spvp. When I’m in wvw with no group people say “oh get that guy, he’s a geared necro”. I want that in all areas of this game just like warrioa, thieves, elementalists, etc.
I still think it should say “You’re fired!”
I am curious why “You’re fired”?
Probably because it’s Donald Trump’s most-known phrase from ‘The Apprentice’ television show. It would be mildly amusing, especially with the number of inevitable jokes with him campaigning for president.
I know it is from donald trump, I am asking its relevance to gw2.
It’s more like a nice pun to use. A lot like killing someone with an ice themed spell and yelling “looks like somebody left the fridge open”. Lol that sort of thing
One last misconception I’d like to shatter : Colin Johanson has stated recently that the team wants tanky builds to be relevant in high level content. The actual meta is the result of the inexperience of the team and not something they intended from the beginning.
Skipping for example is something they’ve fought against (look at TA aether).
So don’t claim that only dps and dps boosters matter in pve, because this might change.
Id love for them to change it, but until they do, thats all that matters in dungeons.
You only don’t need survivability if all you do is play with blobs and zergs all the time… one of my biggest complaints about GW2 is the prolific nature of such groups across the board… they can cause as many problems as they solve from an individual player perspective.
No zergs or blobs in dungeons im afraid
Theres nothing worth 8k dps that can be replaced to someone who wants to push their damage. In this meta you dont NEED survivability. You need high damage and group support (helping them do more damage).
I agree, not everything has to be perfectly equal…. but…. an 8,000 dps discrepancy isnt ok for someone who wants to be competitive dps wise.
DPS is not everything, I think there are too many people who think this is the be all and end all but it is not… as pointed out you do not have to play as a Necro.
As for holding ppl back and not giving any (wanted) support, that is down to the particular group you are playing with and their personalities. If you enjoy playing a particular way and it achieves the goals you set yourself it should not matter what others think.
Personally, I think Elitist criticism of (or prejudice against) other players (be it build, kit, or anything else) should be considered a reportable offence with the potential of repeat offenders being banned.
DPS isnt everything to you…. Imagine a world where we have a class that is themed around death and dark magics like the necro and then give it the thiefs DPS. I want to live in that world
