There were two Naked Kasmeer threads. So we had a naked Kasmeer merging with a naked Kasmeer.
You’re welcome for that mental image.
I approve of this thread.
On a more serious note, while I still believe prices for cloth will normalise in the future, I think the prices of cloth do reflect the increased difficulty of obtaining it when compared to wood and metal. Perhaps ANet could look at upping the amount of cloth scraps dropped from loot bags, as well as the amounts returned from salvaging light armor.
To the OP, the second half of your problem would actually be partially fixed by implementing DR. The reason why nobody bothers to res downed/dead people is because they know that if they do, they might miss out on their chance to tag the Champ. It breeds an “every man for himself” mentality, and I agree that it’s not ideal to have in the game. Simply beefing up the health of Champs/World Bosses isn’t a good solution either, because that just turns them into HP piñatas, which most players consider boring (and time consuming).
What we need is LESS people farming the Champs, and DR is the most effective way to do it. I honestly feel that farming all Champs in Queensdale 5 times (which is my suggested cap), and then encouraging players to move on to another map is a fair compromise.
That said, I do agree that the game should also take into account other means of contribution during an event. Healing players, repairing walls/turrets etc. should all count.
As Nike said, you see HORDES of Skritt appear out of nowhere when escorting the Festive Dolyaks. It’s probably like the kittenroach rule; for every Skritt you see, there’s at least 10 more you haven’t seen.
Ahh, reminds me of the days when you could kill minis in GW1 with Snowballs. RIP Mini Gwen.
Trust me, you don’t want programmers to write the descriptions. That’s what the tech writers are for.
As someone who works as a Technical Writer in a software company, this made me smile so much.
I suspect it will be in the New Year, to snag players who got GW2 for Christmas.
I love the Royal Pass and will stock up on them this time, if its a limited offer.
Cant stand the poor people in LA anymore.I heard this is where [HATS] has its weekly guild meetings about what to corner next in the market.
Confirm/Deny?
The last meeting was held on teamspeak.
Occupy the Royal Pavilion! The workers will unite, and tear down the 1%! Long live the Moletar- er, I mean, the people!
We’ll just have the Seraph arrest them all for loitering.
“Hey look! Is that Scarlet?!” -Shadow Refuge-
The Dragonbrand doesn’t appear to be spreading though. All life within it, and anything that wanders into it for too long, gets corrupted, and the Branded go out and wreak havoc, but I haven’t seen any info that the Brand itself is growing larger.
Without a sample track, I’m afraid I can’t help you. :/ There’s 3 or 4 music tracks that play in Ascalon maps, and I wouldn’t really call any of them “happy”. XD
why would anyone bother to make +6 ?
+5 each is not enough on 1 piece of back pack, 5 pieces of accessories and 6 pieces of armor ?
that’s already 60AR… not enough to beat 50 agony level in the lvl 50 fractal ?
You need 70 AR to not take any damage from Agony at level 50, I believe. But the main reason people are going higher is likely in preparation for Fractals level cap getting lifted in the future.
it’s so nice to see red in this Forum again
Hahahaha. Even though they were brought from beyond the grave. +1
“RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!”
Bonus points for you if you get the reference.
If skipping mobs wasn’t intended, mobs would never lose aggro and follow you until they’re dead.
Arenanet has the capacity to change the behaviour of mob aggro, and they have done so.
Remember when stealth used to completely break all aggro? Now it doesn’t.
So skipping is intended, for skilled players.
Funny, it certainly feels like the Bandits in CM never lose aggro no matter how far I run. XD
We did get info from the devs saying that they expected a Fractal to take about 15 – 20 mins (meaning an hour to 1.5 hours for a full run). Extrapolating from that, they probably envision a dungeon path taking an average of 30 mins to 45 mins.
I’m quite certain that Ebonhawke would already have mandatory military service in place. Almost all small nations surrounded by potential threats have similar schemes in place (e.g. Singapore, Israel).
With regards to making Ebonhawke self-sufficient, it’s not currently possible given the lands they hold, but if they manage to pacify the hostile Ogres and Harpies in Fields of Ruin, they should be able to establish enough farmland and resources to become self-sufficient with food, and still have resources to trade. They’d never become a nation at the level of Kryta (let alone an Empire like Cantha), but they’d be able to stand on their own two feet at least.
Also, if ANet wants to make war an in-game eventuality I’m all for it lol. It would be a welcome break from all this contrived unity. I’d even get onboard for a scenario that wipes humans off the map.
When you put it like that, I’m not surprised that you’re an Adelbern supporter. XD
Yeah, that’s why I’m hoping that stat bonus infusions don’t get introduced.
Infusion grind is still a gear treadmill; currently Agony resistance is fine since it’s only used in one specific game mode and you can get more than enough AR to do level 50+ just by sticking Versatile infusions in regular slots anyway.
Thanks for the info.
I don’t really have time to farm a world boss more than once per day (I usually just hit the bigger ones like Karka Queen and the Shatterer once, and the other bosses only if I happen to be on the map when they spawn), but the info is good to know!
Also got my first Settler’s Insignia recipe from Karka Queen last night! WOO! Now I just need 2 more. XD
I suspect it’s for US addresses only, but it’s a nice gesture nonetheless.
They might get the addresses from people who have made gem purchases, since we provide our billing address as part of that.
No, that’s not what happened. Basically Evon disagreed with his Legionnaire on how they were going to set up their operation in LA. His Legionnaire wanted to extort money from the citizens (aka do what the pirates do); Evon wanted to set up a legitimate trading operation. Evon challenged his Legionnaire and killed her (she attacked him first), and has owned the Black Lion Trading Company ever since.
This also means that the BLTC is actually a front for a spying operation in LA. (Although I’ll grant this was years ago and Evon may have gone rogue since then. We certainly don’t see his original warband around anymore.) Humans with Separatist loyalties may want to reconsider their patronage of the BLTC as a result.
Happy Wintersday to one and all! Now get back to work!
That is no fun. I know a lot of people have finished all the achievements by now, including myself. I thought we were supposed to be on a every 2 week patching interval.
Is this game starting to die? I’ll tell you what. If you (GW devs) want to kill this game, slow down your content patches releases and stick with the “no expansion” idea.
Looks like no GW2 for me until Jan 21st, nothing new for me to do and really nothing old I need to repeat anymore.
There’s really nothing in GW2 you can do anymore? Have you completed the game with all 8 professions? Equipped all of them with Ascended? Crafted 5+ Legendaries? Reached level 50 in Fractals and geared every slot with +10 Agony infusions? Achieved max rank in PvP? Done all the WvW achievements?
If yes, then congratulations! You have won GW2! Feel free to take some time off and go RP, chat in LA, or just go play another game until the next GW2 patch. You don’t need to be in the game 24/7, you know.
The Mists can kind of be thought of as space (or aether, if you’re into steampunk theory). It’s like the realm that all worlds float in, including half-formed realities and echoes of past events (which we see as the Fractals). It is also the place where the spirits of the dead go after they die (most go to a stabilised portion of the Mists called “the Underworld”, which is ruled over by Grenth), and where the Six Gods now dwell.
So with that in mind, it’s likely that the PvP realm IS an actual place within the Mists.
He’s dead though O_o….. Like Mimizu pointed out, you can visit their graves.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be Nic of old.
Amaranth is an NPC who wishes to travel all over Tyria, for an example.
That’s just what I was going to suggest.
Amaranth could easily fill the role of the Traveller, but what exactly would she collect? Junk items were designed for players to instantly vendor for a small bit of cash. Forcing them to hoard them seems counterproductive.
Unless you’re thinking about having her collect unwanted items, like “I’m feeling lucky today! Bring me 10 Black Lion Chests!” and then watch the supply on the TP drain to almost nothing within an hour. XD
Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but what’s particularly interesting to me is that since the Thaumanova fractal, we know that the “chaos magic” the Inquest were experimenting with there was actually “dragon magic”. That suggests that the Chaos Beasts are simply corrupted Skritt, minions of an hitherto unknown Elder Dragon. If so, what domain might it have control over?
Is it possible you already know the recipe? The name alone suggests to me it’s one of those ingredients that’s automatically learned as you go up in levels.
The slider was ANet’s compromise between the two. I agree that if someone is being trollish with their instrument, turn down the instrument slider or just turn off your speakers. If you don’t give any indication to the troll that their actions are bothering you, they will rapidly get bored and leave.
Any good musical instrument player also won’t be playing near a troll, so turning down the slider temporarily is unlikely to hurt your chances of hearing good music.
An increase in level cap may not necessarily lead to higher gear though. It might mean that level 90 is now possible, but all it does is give you 10 more trait points to spend in PvE. (In WvW and sPvP you’re downscaled back to 80.)
The possible infusion gear grind is something I’m wary of happening though. I posted my thoughts in the CDI to let ANet know I hope that’s not a path they’re considering going down.
I also killed the Berserker first once, never got hit by any shockwaves (thank you 1500 range Longbow!), got hit by 1 fire field at the Firestorm in 2nd phase, but no achievement.
Tried killing the Firestorm first last night, but sadly got hit by a shockwave in Phase 2, so can’t confirm whether or not the Berserker needs to be alive in Phase 2 to get the achievement.
Hmm…
If there were “Elite Dungeons”, which are basically the existing dungeons with a twist, that give no additional rewards save for putting your name on a Leaderboard, would people be interested in doing them? The scoring system might work as follows:
- Every party entering the dungeon gets a base score of 1000.
- You get +5 points for each enemy killed in the dungeon (respawning enemies don’t count)
- You get +100 points for each boss (defined as Champions or Legendary foes) killed in the dungeon.
- You get +200 points for each additional objective completed in the dungeon. (So a boss like Kholer would grant +300 points, +100 for being a Legendary enemy, and +200 for beating his objective.)
- You lose 10 points for each minute you spend in the dungeon.
- You lose 10 points each time a party member is downed.
- You lose 100 points each time a party member dies.
You can choose to apply a Mistlock Instability to the dungeon before entering, which applies a multiplier to the final score. Easier ones just award x1, but extremely difficult ones might apply up to x10.
Successful parties are added to the Leaderboard, which can be viewed both via the Leaderboards here and in-game. The names of the party members who took part in the run are also displayed, so if someone managed to solo a dungeon, others would be able to see that they did it solo.

If you ask me, all Fractals should have a chance to spawn in two bands. Short ones like Swamp and Aquatic spawn mostly in the first band, but still have a small chance to spawn in the second one. Longer fractals like Underground or Thaumanova spawn mainly in the third band, but also have a smaller chance to spawn in the second.
Yeah, I think it depends on the Sylvari in question. My Sylvari has a mixture of leaves and “fleshy” parts for her skin. I think that her skin would feel like leaves and soft, fleshy stems similar to what celery or tomatoes feel like. Other Sylvari have bark-like skin (one face has cactus spines!), and I think their skin would feel harder and more rigid as compared to mine.
To be honest, I’d prefer it if the devs instead looked at making the existing weapons more balanced so players don’t just gravitate to one or two sets of “must-have” weapons. Every single profession has one or two weapons (sometimes more) that never see the light of day because their skills are just woefully underpowered compared to other weapons.
Yeah, past Tixx’s platform (and the exploding presents) are two wind-gusts that can knock you off. One is just before the candy cane bridge (and this one can be dodge-rolled through to completely avoid it), the other is right at the top of the peppermint platform at the bend in the snowball portion. The second is easy to avoid as long as you don’t go to the top of the peppermint. (I honestly didn’t even know the wind there could knock you off until I saw another player get knocked off by it.)
For a while there I thought “Raite” was going to turn out to be a Krait in disguise and eat poor young Noovie.
… I have a dark imagination. >.>
-shrug- I find the posts in the Match-up thread somewhat amusing, but it won’t bother me to see it go. If players want to smack-talk, they’ll find somewhere else to do it, like Reddit or Guru. It’s ANet’s house, so it’s their rules. I don’t think it makes any difference in the long-run if trash talking occurs here or on fansites.
Yeah, but that requires a waypoint fee. Travel to WvW is free and at the hours I normally play, queues are non-existent.
I used Blinding Surge on my Vekk.
His brilliance blinds all!
If you cannot blind them with your brilliance, baffle them with your … technobabble.
Pfft, Technobabble. Pain Inverter was the way to go!
New MF recipe: Combine stacks of Black Lion Chests to get Shiny Black Lion Chests with a higher chance for tickets and rare loot.
Cho-co-Tron sounds like a good contender. XD Yo-Ho-Tron for Speak-like-a-Pirate Day.
I also like the VOLT-Tron idea.
No one really knows at this point. ANet’s been playing their cards pretty close to their chest.
Personally I’m hoping it’s a “deposit one skin to unlock it, then pay Transmutation Stones/Crystals to spawn additional copies” system. Skins that are unlocked via AP (e.g. Zenith skins), the HoM (Heritage skins) and meta completions (Fervent Censer) are free and can be spawned as many times as you like.
If I absolutely must slaughter chickens for Ambient Killer, I go to the N supply camp in WvW Borderlands. There’s usually small groups of 4 – 5 chickens hanging around the houses. The nearby NPCs don’t ever say anything about me slaughtering their animals either, for some strange reason.
To add to what the others have said, GW1 is a very different game than GW2. A central component of the game revolves around creating a good build; a combination of skills and attributes that synergizes well with the rest of your party to overcome your enemies. If you enjoy games like M:tG that involves setting up the perfect “deck”, you’ll probably like GW1.
The lore and storyline is also excellent (if a bit clichéd at times), and if you’re a lorehound it’s worth it alone to see the backstory behind many things in GW2.
Ultimately, I’d say download the trial version, play Prophecies (Pre-Searing) and Nightfall (do the first mission and a few quests) and see what you think. If you like what you see so far, drop the cash and give it a try.
One thing I’m pleasantly surprised to hear is that apparently the population in GW1 is still decent. I haven’t been back there in over a year now, so I had no idea how the game was doing.
I love the Royal Pass and will stock up on them this time, if its a limited offer.
Cant stand the poor people in LA anymore.I heard this is where [HATS] has its weekly guild meetings about what to corner next in the market.

In my mind, I kidnapped Hobotron, copied his personality matrix to my Salvage-o-Matic, and gave him a new purpose in life by destroying my loot for useful items. I think he enjoys his new role.
The Charrs themselves are building up giant tanks and other weapons in the Black Citadal. Their “excuse” was that these are to be used against the Elder Dragons. It will be the same excuse that Ebonhawke will use. The Elder Dragons and its minions may very well attack Ebonhawke next.
Yeah. The easiest way would be to do it under the justification of protecting Ebonhawke should Kralkatorrik decide to move back north. Upgrading the weapons of infantry can also be done under the justification of upgrading the Ebonhawke army to better face the Dragon’s minions. (And it could even be true!)
Of course, you can bet that the Charr aren’t likely to be completely ignorant of this.
They’ll have sequestered their own Ash Legion spies inside Ebonhawke to keep them informed of what’s really going on. It’s all part of the game of espionage. As long as the peace holds, this status quo is fine. In time, perhaps the two nations will develop a genuine trust in each other, and render war unpalatable. (Best way to do this would be societal assimilation. More humans living in Charr lands, more Charr living in Ebonhawke etc. Maybe even Charr/human marriages?
)
Don’t think there’s any new music for Wintersday 2013 anyway.
I’m still waiting for the Nightmares Within music!
I will agree that the 3 gold achievement is rough on new players, but I get the feeling it was included for the veteran players who should have a sizeable bank account by now. New players can still complete the meta by donating silver, or just doing the Dailies.
Now if ANet had made the gold achievement repeatable, with 25 AP for every 3 gold donated, THEN I’d join you in complaining. :P
