Can’t players submit issues within game?
It seems a little too unnecessary to post on forums…. Especially in a collective thread that people will then in the future use are reference to say “Hey there were so many bugs since beta that they haven’t fixed, look here”.
This is part of what the subforum is for.
From the invitation email:
“We also encourage you to provide your feedback on the Heart of Thorns subforum.”
I hope they thought that through….

For instance:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Thief-Tricks-and-Tips/first (has a youtube video)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Thief-s-Trickbook/first
Since the search function sucks on these forums….: (copy+paste into address bar, the redirection seems wonky o.O)
or Google:
“site:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief tricks”
you can replace “tricks” with w/e you’re looking for. Without the quotes of course…
the “site:<website>” limits the results to only that website, so you can search through sites that don’t have a search function, or their search function is very kittenty.

hmmm. A bit off topic… Have you played RF Online, Tristan?
I have a fuzzy recollection that I might have asked you or another Tristan this…No, never.
….
I used to play RF Online, great game.
….
Oh I was just checking if, by chance, he was the same Tristan from that game. Used to be guild buddies.
Not to discourage this thread or shut it down….
Pretty sure there has ban a couple threads already that talk about thief tricks and tips… might be worthwhile compiling them into one thread and sticky’ing…
@Impact
Once they mention STEALTHZORS you will not be able to win the arguemwnt or convince them of anything.
You’ve tried valiantly.
Oh and apparently invoker tried playing the thief and he’s godly at it. So yeah guys, roll one today and reap the benefits!
Judging by some of the threads going on… You should make thief exclusive teams.
Yup. Listen to this guy, he knows exactly what’s up.
I want to congratulate you on finally taking the time to roll a thief and discover for yourself how OP it is. I wish more people did that, it would make their lives better playing an easier game using an OP class.
I wish you luck climbing the MMR ladder and winning tournaments.
It’s a bit sad, that the few “white knights” of the thief class will no longer have exclusive privilege to the OP thief class now that people are catching on and rolling one themselves.
In ArenaNets bold attempt at appeasing as broad a range audience as they could, they invented the thief and mesmers classes for players to enjoy
….
Yes.
The rest, No.

Why did they move this here? The Nerf Wish List is made for that anyway l2gp.
Well, he doesn’t particularly went anything nerfed.
He’s just venting. And to that, I say, we understand, there as been thousands of people like you coming here to vent. It’s okay, you will feel better after a good night’s sleep.

Compared to a thief who can backstab as often as he can blackpowder, or hide in shadows, or shadow refuge.

Can i give you a cookie too?
Depends on what kind, and if it is or isn’t laced with anything.

I thought katana was just a general term for sword and that nodachi, odachi were the ones specifically made to be 2handed weapons due to size.
Think they’re different…
It is actually funny, if I hear from most people who spend their times in 1v1 Arenas, Thief apparently do not hold the first place (like top 5 specs with D/P) :P
But yea, this is not even about the meta being build around Thieves… It is apparently now about “Ermergerd Teef OhPee!” – of which we had seen countless of threads already…
I guess I know why you and Yolo Swaggins are like this… It is the only way to even communicate with people since they will only reply with “LALALALA, I CAN’T HEAR YOU TEEF OP LALALALA” in the end anyway…
If by 1v1 Arenas, you mean imaginary bubbled universes where only certain condition are applied and keep being applied to the advantage of who’s arguing, yeah. Or possibly, WvW 1v1’ing. Besides stroking one’s own ego, 1v1’ing has little to no use in any game mode – at least from my understanding of what needs to be done in those game modes…
Well, I think it started of with meta/game revolving around thieves, and now it’s spiraled down to just another TEE OhPEE thread.
Yeah, pretty much. That’s why in my first few posts I tried to sound like them and communicate with their kind. Some good advice has always been to try and play the class you’re having problems with, to learn it a bit and hopefully make your own counters. Typically saying that straight up get’s ignored. So, hopefully by making it sound like I’m agreeing with the OP and all the others that think TEEF is OP and saying they should roll one and join the master race, they actually might hear it and consider it.
Though, this is not so that they could learn about it and counter it (I have no faith in that), this is so that there’s more loot bags running around and so that the leather prices go up a bit…
There was a funny incident that happened couple weeks ago, where some guy was complaining about thieves, and until he finally said “kitten it! going to make one and show you just how easy/OP they are”. He came back to tell us how he was a bit wrong… though he brought back some even crazier ideas with him, these not nerfing the thief but “changing” the other classes. O well, props to that guy for at least trying. Hopefully he bought some leather and died a couple times in WvW.
I think people try to overrate the kanata with anime.
Let’s not forget the samurais that wielded kanatas, their code and ethics. Plus how the katana is constructed…
Warriors, warriors, warriors.
Ronins and of course “ninjas”/assassins.
My terminology may be incorrect, but aren’t one-handed curved single-blade swords called kodachi? I believe katanas are for two hands.
Yeah. And we/I want two handers.

Or…
Key swords?
Yeah?
Anyone?
Then the next thing up for attack is how accessible stealth is for a thief as opposed to ranger.
@Impact
I bet he’s going to say how it requires setup… (and probably that stealth doesn’t*)
Probably a good idea to wait.
Can’t see any issues resulting from waiting and not getting it now.
I’m also working (flipping) my way to incinerator, but I will pause before getting it to see what the new legendaries are.
I’m currently 640g out of 1039g of getting a precursor. 61% complete! What a measure of progression!
Precursor crafting, or a meaningful progression system has always been in place since the start! You just have to look at the picture upside down and a little on a skewed angle.

Katanas, hands down.
Katanas have a cool background to them, despite them, realistically, more “fragile” than other types of swords, plus since they have and edge only on one side pretty sure that limits them too.
But yeah their bad-kitten -ier stems from who used them in the past, how they were made, and ofc anime.
Impact, why do you bother?
Yep, the meta is centered around Thieves…
That is why most optimal builds are like AoE happy machines that makes spectating for a new player seems as if they are watching Rainbow-Simulator 2…
… Or was the meta buid around, you know, conquest? Might sound silly, I know, but there might be a possibility no?
Yeah because aoe spam isn’t the only way to hit stealthed targets or pressure a thief from stealth stomping targets.
And if we’re gonna go for aoe, why aren’t frostbow or staff eles swarming the format, because no class comes even close to the aoe damage of those two.
Because a normal D/D Ele suffices, plus it covers more than one role?
Just my uneducated guess… What do I know anyway
Edit
Apparently you misinterpret my AoE spam as AoE spike damage – this is not the same… but hey, whatever man…
I would love to see Anet doing a day without Thieves and see how much PvP changes… I will bet you that most teams will still be 3 Celes and 2 Bananas…
But like you pointed out, it’s silly that meta builds revolve around game modes and mechanics within the game mode. Meta builds clearly revolve around 1 and only 1 class, and that is the thief!
To further extend this, it’s possible that when they were developing the game modes, they made sure that they were building around one class, then once the game was in place people would have to create builds that build around that same one class and the mode that also builds around that one class – and that one class being the thief.
This is how game design works in practice, just picking the thief/rogue/assassin/ninja class and making things revolve around it. Also how they balance things.

Yes.
We’ve totally been trolling you guys with saying we’re the weak and saying how we need buffs and roll diversity and that you should stop nerfing us.
As a matter of fact we were doing so to keep people away from playing our beloved class. But now that more and more people are catching on how amazing the thief is, I guess we can tell you the truth….
We are OP, we’re amazing. The whole game revolves around us and only us.
So. If you want to be amazing like us, roll a thief.TEEF MASTER RACE!!!!!
Clever! Now they’ll all roll thief and realize what they were complaining about. I like it!
Sure. Let’s go with just that.
I don’t want’t to lay there for days waiting for the guy to finally show up at the X.
:D Rather show up at his door with a nice big great sword.
Did you guys also know that the ENITRE META revolves around the thief?

I have a question: i do not want to create a new thread in mesmer forum: would it be good idea for Arena net remove Auto-attack from thief? Because few minute ago, i was 1 v 1 a thief and play memser: the thief know where i was in stealth, no matter how far i was in stealth, the thief found me.
Experience. Luck. Intuition/prediction. I’ve CnD’ed off of thieves in shadow refegue more than a few times, or CnD’ed off of them when they stealth near me.
But since you will reject this and think that thief’s are OP. I will just say:
OP MAGIC
Another question: can thief track mesmer stealth?
As much as the mesmer can track the thief in stealth.

Yes.

The profession is extremely powerful as well as reliable but tends to fall short in a meta in which everyone is relatively tanky. Ironically the shoutbow warrior emerged to counter the meta which countered theives. Thus, shoutbow is weak against thieves.
Its that one profession no one can ignore, i mean lets face it, a good theif is invulnerable to normal DPS 90% of the time between dodging, invisibilty, and evading. The meta HAD to adapt- Most dps builds are generally slower- but theives acomplish incredible stopping power and interruption while also being extremely fast- and hard to kill!
The only reason you die so much now is due to how the current builds have been designed to survive your initiate and beat you. Even still- you are able to win regardless in some cases.
Exactly. Totally agree. More people should be let in on this, so they can reap the glory.
Another interpretation could be, that they renamed Thief class to Nerf class.
No, whoever merged the threads simply forgot the word “Needs” at the beginning. It’s the “Needs Nerf” class.
Nah.
This is definitely either a class on nerfs OR the thief’s new name or spec will be named Nerf.
Yes.

Is there a point in this thread still?
Hurt rear happens.
Yeah no, I get that. But why are there people continuing this thread…?
This school is far to repetitive. we have studied the same subject since the grand opening of Nerf Wars high.
Detention for you!
You never question or disrespect the Nerf School.
Right. If the average skill is going downhill, then we should all follow and accommodate for that.
Can’t wait until people start complaining about how they have too many skills to use and pick from.
Love the new thread name.
So, students, in todays nerf class, we will be talking about thieves…..
Is there a point in this thread still?
And that has something to do with thiefs?
I’m guessing, some thieves will be re-rolling revenants. That’s the only connections I’m able to make.
Probably if revenant manages to also fill the style of power thieves, I will probably bury some previous specs if they don’t satisfy ,especially necro. Not sure what’s the obsession with GW’s assasin you like it play GW or GW2’s power thief. I doubt their:“We’ll give the current professions a balance look one more time” will be sufficient based on history.
Are there actual plans for them to look at balance?
As far as I’m aware, it’s a bit of speculation or wishing that they will look at balance around the time HoT is released (before and/or after it).
No plans, just words which make me think of the current style of balance, probably after profit>health I would prefer before for obvious reasons hopefully while they showcase specializations. No need to need explain revenant is the best theoretically designed class and specializations are seen as upgrades that will balance each other once more of them come.
I could be wrong but history >hope.
You’re assuming they’ve learned from their past mistakes/endeavors.
Specs, I see them more as a way to add in new skills/builds to the current stale system.
But definately, History>Hope – that’s why torch would make sense as our spec weapon.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Nice. Lol.
confirmed the only way to nerf thieves is to mow the lawn
I guess we can now add lawn mowers to things that counter thieves….

Ahh i guess that makes sense. Im trying to use mug+signet heal with S/D, seems pretty nice, with endless 3 spam, almost anyway.
I guess its Power -> Precision -> Ferocity even if i play S/D, D/D, S/P, D/P right?
When you start considering the meta, generally, yeah you want to be running some sort of power builds, and so zerker stats or variations of them. This is due to how conditions work on bosses and in groups.
S/D, S/P, D/P, will generally be better when ran with power/zerker stats.
D/D can be either condi or power based. I want to say dire stats, but that has condition/vit/toughness, and survivability stats are generally not needed since you should be able to avoid damage altogether via dodging/evades/positioning….
Technically, you should be able to level up using any build. You only really worry about what build you’re running when you’re trying to run with the meta.
S/P just makes things easier with it’s cleave and black powder which means you can face tank multiple melee mobs and hit them all with your auto-attacks.
D/D condi, pretty sure meaning the death blossom spam, will melt away normal mobs while keeping you relatively safe due to the evade that death blossom provides. Conditions on a boss though, might not be the best idea.
D/D power, is good for bosses.

Um… isn’t that how the MMR system should work?
1) Opponents should get progressively harder, thus winning should become harder. This is to push your MMR higher and higher. Though stacked teams and premades vs non-premades, I THINK, is being looked into, I THINK.
2) Since it’s a bit natural that less people will reach the higher MMRs it makes sense that there’s less people in general queue’ing up or even being on in that MMR range. People in the same MMR range will/should play against people in the same MMR range.
3) Yes, they are lower, since you will get constantly placed against people of the same skill or higher than you. That’s how you increase your MMR, more so than beating people lower skill.
While maybe it is less rewarding than it should be, but by no means should it be that you’re picking on players in the lower MMR range and progressing as if you were beating higher MMR players.
I also heard that they can CnD off of a blade of grass…
Hey guys, let’s make a post related to “Brilliant idea to nerf Necro”, so this Lord guy will shut up forever. (Necro is his PVP main)
We would first have to get a focused group of people together to come up with such a brilliant idea.
Or it might be a torch….
Though, I hope it’s a GS or a rifle.
But no, there is nothing official on what the spec will be or which weapon it will get.
Well if you and that focused group of people say so, then I have to agree with the changes and all the reasoning behind them. Clearly by the reasoning provided you guys know exactly what you’re doing with these changes.
Welcome to the Nerf Wish List!
