They need to start converting maps to the Dry Top mechanics, rewards upon completion (not champs) with EXTRA rewards for completing multiple events.
I take back all my posts putting Dev’s on blast for not responding! Obviously they responded before I even started playing this game..They are just still working on the changes. So I figure a 15% radius reduction on hammer blast and the glass panels overlooking A and C removed. Changes to be implemented in april 2017! Another note Guild Wars 3 announced to come out May 2017! (j/k) don’t look that up.
Nope, they already made their changes, they laugh at your attempt to ask for more!
They say: Are you not satisfied with the removal of 2 glass pains near the hammer?! Are the tiny 1 foot walls placed on the edges not good enough for you!?! We shall make no further attempts! -Map Designers
The New Player Experience patch was designed to target brand new players not brand new characters
This is why it is set that way on your alt account. Any account with a character that has these features unlocked will have access to those features. The icon may be hidden, but the hotkeys and other methods of access will work as intended.
I also do not like the NPe at all, I think they took a big step backwards in terms of trusting their playerbase to know how to play.
But ya, brand new, fresh, out of the box accounts will need to unlock the features on one character, then it will be available for the rest regardless of level.
- Color track – rewards dyes
- Remodel Track – rewards trans charges and hair kits / character kits on completion
- Wealth track – rewards fixed price items to boost gold gain by a little bit (each reward gives like…5 items worth 10s each type of thing?)
- Resource Track – As the track progresses, gives t1-6 materials and rewards rares at “check points”
- Storage (Spring Cleaning) track – Rewards bags, black lion salvage kits, etc.
- WvW track – rewards siege, silver, badges of honor (i cant imagine it being better farm that EotM though…)
- Fractal track – various materials, fractal relics, and skin choice on complete
- SAB track – (reactivate the bauble merchant) rewards baubles, miniature crafting items, weapon crafting items/pieces (these things are WAY too expensive on the TP, there needs to be a way to get these weapon skins)
- <Insert Season> track – rewards similar items granted from event farming during Mad King, Wintersday, Jubilee, Dragon Bash, etc.

Hi. First, I’m the fan of bows:) I play all 3 professions which can use bows :P And this is about the damage part: Looks like that Warrior’s LB can do more dmg than Ranger’s LB. I tested both of them and i kill stuff faster with my Warrior. Also i’ve been killing some LB rangers with my Warrior by only using my LB, without touching melee weapon. All i need to do is to stay as close to them as possible and don’t let them to shoot me from 1000 + range. How is this possible? On the other hand, dmg on my Thief’s Shortbow is very very low compared to these two professions …
sry for english …
I disagree, the LB #2 for Rangers is like an eviscerate on an 8 second cooldown if the shots land (and 1500 range lol), and their auto attacks can crit for 3k nearing max range consistently. If you can position a good Barrage, can also crit for 800-1.5k 12 times.
Warriors LB has Arcing arrow (nerfed) as their only high damage dealing ability (other than point blank LB #2) as condi, the bleeds from LB 5 and burns from F1 are formidable though.
If you are killing LB rangers with a purely LB warrior, then sorry to say, those rangers were just horrible…
1400 posts and no red posts!!! Saying what the community doesn’t want to hear is better than saying nothing at all, Devs!
They will never admit they made a mistake….they never admit they make a mistake in any area of the game. Since sPvP has so little actual content, this one glaring mistake is simply engulfing and shows how one mistake, and their unwillingness to address it, can change the face of an entire company and their “policies” #eSports
I agree, I made a thread on this a while ago, but it never got enough bumps to stay visible. Your ideas are beyond a tutorial though, people don’t even know the basics, let alone markers, etc.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/No-changes-for-PvP-Tutorial/first#post4373500
I kinda hope they don’t revert it back to normal, it would be nice to have some more control over the animation
So with this current patch, if you type /Rank (anywhere except WvW) you will get the rank finisher animation….through your head, and it will move with your character.
Sometimes to rather humorous results, but I can guess it is definitely a bug :P
Here is some footage of what I mean:
The game may be still in early development but…. http://www.tentonhammer.com/preview/skyforge-pvp-system-preview
I agree and disagree on some points though.
I agree the PvP in this Game NEEDS a tutorial, badly! https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/No-changes-for-PvP-Tutorial/first#post4373500 (anyone wanna bump this? ;P)
I agree and disagree about the FPS map design. Having terrain you can use to your advantage is a pinnacle point for FPS game map design, and that is where it falls off in GW2 (see: WvW). Skyhammer has a good theory, but the map should never kill you…it just shouldn’t unless it was YOUR fault, not exploited by your enemies.
I also disagree about the forcing FPS elements from FPS games though. Most FPS games that I play online, usually have the conquest mode (aside for Battlefield) as the least popular gamemode. Titanfall, CoD, even TF2 (maybe not LEAST popular for TF2) etc. people prefer alternates. The only one that has made it work is BF due to the vast ways of approaching points (infantry, air, vehicle).
The link I posted lists what I was originally hoping for when I hear about good PvP in MMOs, as well as FPS (I play Tribes, Global Agenda, TF2, etc….these gamemodes are universal, they simply work…)
(edited by Zietlogik.6208)
The new leveling system is a joke, all that needed to happen was to add a little more tutorial to tell people what was going on….that was it.
“I swung a sword, I swung a sword again….Heyyyy I swung it again”
This is now the weapon skills unlock system for the NPE.
“In most games…you go out and have really fun tasks occasionally”
This is now the entire early leveling experience, Press F on everything, whack mobs, with an occasional interesting event.
“and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff”
This is now the entire level 1-80 experience. 1-40 you will never have your entire skill set unlocked, 40-80 you can never actually use a Grandmaster trait until you have finished the leveling curve…
I don’t know about you, but the NPE and trait changes seem like a giant slap in the face, not allowing players to play how they want and artificially extend the leveling experience to feel different.
I would go as far to say that the game is being converted into something designed for people who have never played a game before. I understand that some people don’t have a ton of time, or just aren’t that good at some games, but this is not how you teach people things. You cannot try and teach a person to draw, by never giving them a pencil. Just as much as players will not learn to play, if they aren’t given the tools and skills.
Like playing monopoly, and having dice rolling unlocked 30 minutes in, then unlocked the ability to collect 200 by passing Go! at 1 hour, having the ability to buy/trade unlocked 2 hours in.

@Chris Whiteside
I suggest the dev team hold a weekly survey, done using a modified "rate your experience" window. (you know, the one used in Beta, and on your test server, yes I’ve been on your test server)
Rather than a simple "rate 1,2,3,4,5", have it modified to be a multiple choice selection.
For example, weekly, it would give players this popup (which should be re-openable if the player did not select an answer) that would provide 5 "hot topics" from the community, to gauge the views of in-game players by gathering a "vote".
Since we always get this speil about how the forums only represent a small fraction of the playerbase, then it only seems logical to expand the information gathering process to include the majority of the playerbase (people playing the game) rather than focusing purely on the internal/private testers.
It would look something similar to:
-------------------------------------------------------
PvP Survey
Vote for your top priority:
- New Maps (_)
- New Gamemodes (_)
- PvP Balance Focus (_)
- PvP rewards (_)
- Ladders and Seasons (_)
- Other (please provide information in
the CDI located in the sPvP forums)

Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
Sorry Backpack! But Beefcheeser is the greatest Warrior player known to man! The most mechanically proficient, strategically sound, and situationally aware player ever to grace Guild Warts 2!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
awwww I thought you had given up the copy pasta intro/outro and become suprsrs about everything, I R disappoint
@Chris
Has anyone on the team seen this thread? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/The-Future-You-Want-survey-results/first#post4416312
Or more importantly, the survey that was run the thread is linking to? http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2ggvgg/the_future_you_want_survey_results/
I did not know the survey was running, but it seems like the majority of the votes are akin to what I would have voted regardless, and I am sure, many others.
I feel more insulted as a person who plays games more than anything. I am fully aware that there are people who don’t have time to learn everything quick, or just don’t have the motor skills for hotkey mouse+keyboard gaming.
But this is like you are trying to make a game built for people who have never played games before, people who have never been gamers. Here spam, your 1 key 80 times, now spam your 1 key, with some 2 mixed in every 10-ish seconds. >.>
I’m all for SAB to be open year round. They feel that we wouldn’t want it unless it had something new. There are a lot of us who barely had a chance to play it on top of all the other things we had to do during the first LS. Not to mention how much special SAB currency we needed to get even one skin. 12,500 baubles. I think I get less than 100 after playing for an hour.
I physically ache to be able to play tribulation mode again- it’s my favorite part of the game, and it’s simply gone indefinitely, until further notice.
Come on, Anet, what better way to market your new stupid collections achievements than by reopening the SAB and having people collect those skins?
SAB Collection sounds perfect, they could even add some other collectibles found while playing in the Box as well.
I feel like they probably try, and something stops them. I can only imagine they have a ton of content, etc. all 50% done, that just got put on the backburner when someone higher up says to start working on something else.
I honestly wonder how many partially completed zones there are, weapons, skills, that may have all been thrown to the side to focus on other projects ‘cough Living World cough’
I am honestly more impressed by some update regiments as F2P games…Firefall, Warframe, Planetside 2 get updates all the time, good ones, content ones, balance ones, etc….I think some management and decision making strides need to be changed here.
(edited by Zietlogik.6208)
No, they said they didn’t see a way to work the SAB into the current living story line.
Which is exactly my point…it doesn’t have to, it never had to, and it was never part of a story in the first place. It was added as an April Fools joke, as an activity and people played it….I highly doubt they got a backlash of players who were “confused” about it being there.
Just like every single other activity, it does not have to tie into the story. Belcher’s Bluff was a hamfisted way of fitting it into the Zephyrite content, but was never necessary, it could have stemmed from Pirates in Lion’s Arch for all who cared. Southsun Survival had nothing to do with the actual story release, but it is still kickin’.
Just because that is the excuse they are using, doesn’t mean it makes a lick of sense.
A lot of them don’t work. How about fixing them so they can actually be activated?
I see some people here, on Facebook etc. being told “enjoy the collections feature while you wait!” when asking about the return of living story, or content downtime…
But a ton of these things don’t even start?! or can’t be activated. Looking through the dulfy list, I figured i would give my inner collector a try, but looking through the list there are so many “currently bugged, cannot be activated”
So in reality, the feature that is supposed to tide people over until more stuff comes out…doesn’t even work for a good chunk?
Now this horse isn’t dead yet, and I know for a fact i’m not the only one. But I would still love to see the Super Adventure Box return, just for people to DO.
It doesn’t have to be part of the story (it never was in the first place!) Just open it up, and have it under Activities…because that is exactly what it is.
We have broken Keg Brawl, that bar fight that never was made, Blecher’s Bluff, Southsun survival….what are your “metrics” on these activities, and how do they hold a candle to SAB?
You guys do know Activities don’t have to be all half-rung psuedo-PvP arenas right? they are just fun things to do…we need more, well, fun things to do
SAB fits perfectly as an activity, put your company policies aside, and give it a thought….please.
(edited by Zietlogik.6208)
You mean the completion section in the top left when the map is open, iv’e never heard of an instance of it being gone….the only way for me to remove it is to use ctrl+shift+h to remove the hug, and open the map…
Rank means nothing, never has, and at this rate, never will.
Why exactly do YOU care what other people’s ranks are in the first place?
Oh I remember the combustive shot nerf, that was a massive facepalm moment.
What kind of bottom of the barrel QA testers do they have that said the ticks from Combustive shot granted adren, when everyone on the forums was screaming that it was the Furious Trait doing it.
But they do not listen, and this thread should not exist, because we should know better by now, and know and accept they simply do not listen.
It is lag…the servers are laggy as %!@# right now…that’s my guess
The lag right now is HORRIBLE
it has higher ferocity, lower power, and higher prec, very niche…
But ya 10g for these “new” amulets, not worth it.
I would love to see the stats on who actually bought the last 10g ones, I can’t imagine it got alot of attention.
Combustive shot is a duration skill, so it counts as a hit regardless, because of the field it leaves behind.
With that being said I hope they will slightly improve warriors in PvE again. If the math I’ve seen is correct warriors will lose quite a lot of DPS (didn’t do the math myself yet so I can’t confirm it).
Warriors lose a hell of a lot of DPS in solo settings but in groups the DPS loss isn’t nearly as much. It still really blows and we’ve been getting repeatedly nerfed every patch.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s basically my fault that warriors are getting nerfed.
Mained D/D ele after release -> nerfed
-> mained ranger -> nerfed
-> mained mesmer -> nerfed
-> maining thief/warrior atm -> nerfed (soon)Maybe I should main a profession I don’t like. :P
You should have tried maining warrior right after launch…we were bottom of the barrel and easy kills for anything with soft CC and a couple conditions.
They have one “beta mode” map in custom arenas called Courtyard as well, that uses a team deathmatch style system instead of a capture point system.
no…..
I’m saying warriors SHOULD lose their adrenaline because the skill costs resources to execute
I just gave an example that thieves SPEND initiative for every skills they use even if
their targets dodge or MISSES, they don’t just get it backif you’re ganna compare 2 classes then make the right comparison
stealth is a status, = to your endure pain
adrenaline is a resource = to initiativecomprende?
How much initiative does backstab use? o wait…
Whats the cooldown on the thieve’s weapon skills? o wait…
I have yet to have any lag issues in sPvP over the past 3 weeks, it may be more localized that you may think, only effecting a select few.
I honestly doubt most new players have any idea how gearing and traiting for PvP works at all. It’s always been completely bewildering to me that they stuck it in some random tab that most players probably never look at.
That was the main reason I think it is needed so bad. I can go into hotjoin matches and spectate and still find players running around with stock traits that have 0 effect on the weapons they are using. (warrior traits have blademaster by default?! waaaat?)
I agree that is the skill is blocked/evaded/blinded etc, the thief should technically become unstealthed. It doesn’t make a huge amount of stealth, but nothing will change :/
On an unrelated note… the new players to PvP in my guild absolutely despise Skyhammer. From my past experiences from casual PvX guilds…. they won’t continue to PvP
If Anet’s plan is to make the game very friendly and accessible to anyone…. for the love of of god why is Skyhammer a PvP map? It’s so rage inducing.
I agree, as does probably 90% of others about skyhammer, but let’s not derail too far…skyhammer hate doesn’t fit into the whole “new player tutorial” theme :P
check out the stats windows for Titanfall for some inspiration, it is very detailed.
Earthshaker, Ranger GS #3, Magnet, Lightning Reflexes, Rush. Anything that moves quickly has a tendency to completely $!@# up.
I have never had FPS problems on Temple….that’s the first i heard of this
This is badly needed. Sometimes I see people getting stomped to the class-specific trainers. It is sad :\
I rarely ever see players even near the NPCs, but since the megaserver shiz, there are probably times of day when there are :P
I am still waiting for the ability to MOVE the little que pop window out of the middle of my screen though. Sometimes we aren’t alt tabbed, and are actually doing stuff, and this little obstructive piece of kitten is just sitting there, unmovable, unbreakable!
There could be a “Skip the Tutorial?” Button, but that would probably be a bad way to go.
Back in beta there used to be a “rate your experience” window that popped up. If they used that, changed it a small multiple-choice quiz when you chose to skip the tutorial (to make sure you know at least a FEW things) then that may work?
Also…this was originally in the General forum, but got moved here, so now it shall never be seen ever again >.>
Of all things, there is much for new players, and the new player experience being delivered in this feature patch.
But I still see we have this horrendous PvP tutorial, practically non-existent WvW tutorial (basically a PvE Scout), and pre-set pvp builds that players don’t even know they have loaded because the game doesn’t tell how anything works in the sPvP lobby.
Players are never directed to the training grounds either…SO how about:
All PvP reward tracks are locked until you complete a basic “Training Track” that would involve mechanics in the training area and progress something similar to: (excluding cannons…because “lololol we deleted Capricorn!!1”)
Each of these will have a popup window (like hints) that would describe actions and rewards for these mechanics. (the hints/popup descriptions will be in bold)
- Visit the Training Grounds area.
(Here, we will learn about the basic mechanics of the various PvP Environments.)
- Open your PvP Build window.
(This screen will help you build your character to fight alongside teammates in PvP matches. The Traits, Sigils and Amulet are all you need to get started in PvP. These will change as you swap between PvP and PvE areas, so be sure to open this window when you enter any PvP zone to double-check your setup.)
- Rally an ally in the Training Grounds.
(Keeping your allies alive is important in all game-types, but even more so in a PvP environment, so be sure to revive fallen allies to keep your team strong.)
- Stomp an Enemy in the Training Grounds.
(Just as important as reviving allies, defeating an enemy is also a great way to strengthen your team, and make your enemies rethink their strategy.)
- Use a Trebuchet in the Training Grounds.
(This secondary objective is located on the Battle of Khylo PvP map and allows you to bombard an area with heavy hitting Trebuchet shots to give your allies the edge in battle.)
- Destroy a Trebuchet in the Training Grounds.
(Both teams in Battle of Khylo start the match with a trebuchet ready for them, so destroying the enemies is a great way to reduce any advantage they can gain from it.)
- Repair the broken Trebuchet in the Training Grounds.
(Even if your Trebuchet is destroyed, or you destroy the enemy team’s Trebuchet, the Repair Kit is a tool that can make it usable again during a match.)
- Gain a temporary buff by defeating The Chieftain or Svanir in the Training Grounds.
(By defeating these neutral monsters on the Forest of Niflhel, you will grant your team an instant 25 points as well as a helpful buff to boost your team’s power and stats.)
- Kill the enemy Guild Lord.
(On the Legacy of the Foefire map, there is a powerful NPC heavily guarded in each team’s base. By defeating this NPC you will grant your team an instant 150 points.)
- Channel and capture a neutral node in the Training Grounds.
(Many maps in PvP require you to channel for a brief moment in order to capture an objective or buff. Such as the Orb of Ascension on Spirit Watch, the Cannon on Skyhammer and various buffs on Temple of the Silent Storm.)
>>This is where the Training Area stops, and the in-game training begins<<
- Capture a neutral capture point in any PvP match.
- Capture an enemy controlled Capture Point in any PvP match.
- Defend a capture point your team controls for 10 seconds in any PvP match.
- Rally an ally in any PvP match.
- Stomp an Enemy in any PvP match.
-Done-
(edited by Zietlogik.6208)
What was that saying?
It is better to have 10,000 play for several years, than 1 million to play for several days.
We need content, not stuff that is instantly forgotten simply by leveling up…
I never used the crystals during this fight, I stood on the main platform, moving out of red circles and ranging him down.
If you are a staff necro, you should not have a problem. if you are power + wells, works, condi + staff scepter, works….just stand in the middle, strafe out of circles and auto attack him to death if you need to.
There is also a bug (yes it still exists since beta) that requires you to unequip and re-equip an item for it to register (even if you have 2 sets already equipped)
I don’t know how exactly you would remedy this issue
Start up laptop, insert DVD, press play and watch a movie (glancing towards your GW2 screen from time to time so you don’t get kicked for inactivity and there are no attackers at your tower)
Good to know defending can be directly compared to flight-paths in WoW >.>
The thing about zerging and assault areas rather than defending….is that you are doing something.
Scouts, yak runners and defenders have nothing to do.
Think about it in a real-world experience, if you are tasked to look after something, and all you do is stand there, watching over it, 2 things happen:
a.) you get incredibly bored
b.) you get nothing for doing a thankless job
Most people would get a deck of cards, or read a magazine, or do something with their time while they are there. Yet objectives in WvW have NOTHING to do near/in the vicinity.
I don’t know how exactly you would remedy this issue, but I shall create this thread in hopes that people can post their ideas about how to bring interest back to the thankless jobs.
TBH, you shouldn’t be able to swap characters without punishment either.
In a tourny setting, this should not happen.
I see most complaining coming from Guardians? that is strange, I main a warrior and could care less. Sure more mithril sucks, cuz it is next to dirt (Leather is pretty much dirt).
But unless you exclusively play PvE, and since PvP boxes are pure RNG anyways, guardians in blobs in WvW spamming 1, ring in a ton of loot, exponentially more than other classes….just salvage everything as normal and move on.
Skills def need split for pve/PvP/www. And skill gear templates/ trait templates.
Anet did this easily in gw1 and it can be done just as easily in GW2.
It actually took them a while to implement it into GW1 as well…
pause game rly ?! what else ? pausing world events ?! there are so many aspects where we need improvement and it is not pausing game , this idea is just bad and doesnt exist in any game (lol, dota, cod,bf)
Have you ever watched a competetive League match? there is most definitely a pause feature, if a player is having an issue. They also have it limited to 2 or 3 pauses allowed per match, maximum of 5 minutes I believe.
(edited by Zietlogik.6208)
It is less Company Policies, and more Company Policing. We used to have some fun, energetic, vocal and interesting people to talk to (see: Josh Foreman)
But it seems whenever someone over there wants to talk, someone higher up pulls out the duct tape, and who knows whatever else behind the curtains to stop them…maybe even being fearful of keeping their job or not, or how their job will be effected (see: Martin Kerstein)
This Company Policy seems incredibly inclusive and anti-transparency, like they are actively trying to stop us from knowing anything ever…
If this was some fictional fantasy setting, the GW2 community are now part of a city-state, and Arena Net are the black veiled government abducting people and killing ideas behind the shadows. :P (ok maybe that was a little strong >.>)
