Depends on how you look at it. I happen to be checking this earlier and the best SP -> gold conversion I am aware of is 1 SP for 4g which means the 25SP would be worth 100g. In comparison to that buying from Marjory is a very nice discount.

BG vs JQ vs SoR

Here is a summary of the facts from the last 2 weeks:

Week 1: BG and Sor ensured that they dont give JQ a fair fight and 2v1ed us but cudnt keep us too far behind. Then when BG realised that Sor is staying too close to comfort, they decided to back stab Sor and get them out. BG then decided that oh we cannot let JQ get 2nd place since Sor is easily manipulated lets help them once again and 2v1ed JQ in the last 2 days.

Week2: Sor started off strong but BG got serious and came back hard. Now Sor will take 2nd spot 2 weeks in a row. This put BG quite far ahead in the match ups as they have established that they can beat Sor 1v1. All they need to do is now to continue to beat Sor and then 2v1 JQ in the last week to get another win.

Sor grats on getting manipulated and then a nice hammer to the face during a 1v1 battle. You have dug your own grave.

JQ lost first week, and to feel better about myself I got to blame it on unfiar fights. been crying myself to sleep since, but today is a different day, I will not let this keep me down!

There was no traditional PvE end game content in GW1, at least not in my eyes.
Care to elaborate?

GW1 had UW, Fow, Deep, Urgoz, Doa all amazing end game elite areas. GW2 has nothing compared to that. I believe that is wat the OP is referring to.

The mini games are completely broken when it comes to match making. I was in a game with only 1 other person for 2 games last night, while my friend who tried joining me several times kept getting thrown in multiple different instances with 6-12 players per game.

My instance remained at 2 players till one of us got bored and left, the match making queue is not smart enough to combine small population instances with others that can accommodate the players. This is causing the activity to seem like its dead but in actuallity it isnt.

You are wrong, JQ controls it’s own destiny. 7 weeks of JQ/BG/SoR would have shown JQ’s true strength. As it stands you are guaranteed 1st in at least 4 out of 7 weeks.

Was fun last night being lead by possibly the best commander in game Sfeeee in EB.
Sfeeee + 15 pve AP hunters held strong at paper EB garrison, half of which were uplevelled lol, took out an enite BG blob of 80+ at lords room while getting hit from south door by 70+ Sor.
Great job to all players that kept going regardless of the fact that we were severely out numbered.

There are still 26 hours left and the scores are still very close, based on how its played anyone can take the number 1 spot. Will ofc be much harder for JQ at this point, due to being so far back the entire week. (Nice double teaming ofc)
So question now remains does SOR want #1 or will they let BG simply walk away with it? If I was in SOR, i would definately try to close that 6K points gap, it is still doable if you play your cards right.
With that said, amazing fights overall, I hope this one is a nail biter to the very end.

With only 67 hrs, 45min (271 ticks) till match 1 ending, JQ is behind by 9279 points from first place.
In order for us to get to first, we have to maintain an average of 34 PPT more than both servers per tick.
We shall fight till the end, its still doable!

I’m new to streaming and plan to do it more often. I ran this on my 13" macbook pro so I limited the resolution/quality to save on fps :-(

Way too long for me, or anybody else most likely, to watch that entire thing. Any reason JQ decided to hit SoR instead of BG (who is in first)?

I’m new to this so the video is definitely too long. The short version, in the beginning of the video, we were fighting BG (knt commander?) and we wiped them a bunch of times so BG decided to push SoR instead. At that point, we decided to push SoR too.

I wouldn’t say wiped per say, though the 5+ AC’s in speldan was a bit much to handle. Also after SoRs forces died down and after many failed attempts on Anz, JQ finally got the hint and hit SoR. You know that’s all we wanted, we were even willing to let you have SoRs stuff as long as it flipped.

We just wanted SoR to stop killing our ogres…they are a misunderstood race…

Only reason you capped Sor keep was because we allowed you to, Also you lost not once but 3 times at splenden with almost 3 times the size of our zerg which consisted of almost all pugs – see video. The Norn Knt commander dying twice was my favorite part =) Btw did u loose SM over a camp lol?

So let me get this straight, 5 AP for 8 games, you can earn 50 AP points max.
This means if you want all 50 AP then you need to play 80 games….
This is one of my least favorite mini games, hated it last year, nothing changed this time around. Also Ghosts should not be able to see the villagers by standing on the portal, not sure if that is a bug or inteded but either way thats way too OP.

Apart from that once a game starts, it should lock down and not allow new players to join in, Also a quick end mechanic needs to be added where

1) If Ghost(s) kill all Villagers then they win ( I believe this is currently how it is)

But please add…:
2) Villagers can use an item on ghost to turn them back to villagers so if all Ghosts are turned back to villagers, Villagers win.

otherwise u have wait out the entire timer and hope that ghosts dont find you. &2 is a Waste of time.

I got credit for capping SM yesterday (After the season 1 officially started), note I actually only participated in breaking inner gate and then standing in green circle after killing the lord.
Although, I am sure its intended to give credit to everyone as long as they make it in time to stand in the actual green circle.

Edit: To clarify I got credit and it counted towards the Season 1 achievement.

Why Living World stories are unfinished

Acutally I could go on about a ton of lore unanswered questions but hoping Anet will slowly conclude these, I will post a few that come to mind:

Is Zhaitan dead?, if not dead what happened to him? Is he gone to a dormant state ? Who are the orr armies following now?
What made Tequatl stronger?
How did Rytlock acquire Sohothin? (Sohothin was lost at fire island in GW1, there was no sign of a charr there, – see WP’s vid for this)
What happened to the other sword that we took from AC story for Logan? The shattered sword was going to be “repaired”?
What secrets were the Zephyrites hiding?
What announcement was the queen going to actually make before getting interrupted by Scarlet?
How was the Super Adventure box working perfectly even though Moto dint recall building many components?

And there are like a several dozen more questions which are quite fascinating, perhaps we will get some answers in the coming months.

I consider endgame to be collecting cool skins and armor.
The best way to get skins is to figuring out the best way to make the most money in the most efficient way. Keeping up with the new skins every few weeks actually keeps the game quite interesting.

Apart from that you can challenge yourself by trying to complete new content that is being added every 2 weeks. Some achievements can be quite frustrating but fun at the same time.

I still have my fingers crossed for them to bring back UW and Fow which were 2 amazing areas in GW1 – these 2 areas pretty much kept players playing the game for 7 years.

I’ll bump this topic since this is really bugging me…

What happened to all the options to buy skins with the previous tickets? There are a lot of people who still have tickets but can’t use them anymore! Furthermore I don’t see the Dragon Jade weapons at all! Clarification please?

The Jade weapons are still available at the ticket NPC but they only show up if you have the jade tickets in your inventory.

Ok to be absolutely fair, here is a breakdown of GW1 vs GW2
Obviously the point scale system comes down to my opinion but I feel it’s quite just.
I will only be comparing GW1 prophecy features since we haven’t expanded into a 2nd land mass – aka Cantha, Elona, Eye of the north.

  • GW1 Prophecy features /// GW2 features*

PVE

  • Missions /// Dungeons + mini dungeons (GW2 +1)*
    While I loved the missions in GW1, GW2 dungeons are much more fun to me, they are more rewarding with the new reward system, although still not balanced they are very comparable to the missions in GW1 that did basically the same thing by telling the story of the game. Lore wise the missions in GW1 gave more information so perhaps that can be looked at when and if there is some re-vamp down. People complaining about Hard mode, well we have explorable mode which might not be as hard but it can be challenging. – Win goes to GW2
  • Quests /// Dynamic Events + Hearts (GW2 +1)*
    Dynamic Event hands down just kills this comparison, each time you come to an area you might find the area completely changed and find a new rung of the chain instead of the stale quest which was not even repeatable. – Win goes to GW2
  • Rotscale /// 19 World Bosses* (GW2 +1)
    Arguably Prophecies only had 1 true “world boss” Rotscale, he was a force to be reckoned with unless you took a cough 600hp smite monk with prot spirit. A balanced group would had a tough fight against him but still only 1 boss vs more than dozen world bosses GW2 brings. Note I am not counting the other open world bosses from GW1 since they were very similar to the current skill point capture system and they met similar difficulty.

-Explorable areas- (GW1 +1)
-56 GW1 /// 24 GW2-
We have a clear winner in this category – much large map was open in the first year allowing players to venture into different explorable areas.

-Zaishen /// Dailies- (Tie)
While the rewards were better from the Zaishen dailies, I feel like I enjoy the casual form of daily in GW2, and given us the option to choose is nice. On the other hand, Zaishen quests rewarded some very nice loot indeed. While I am leaning a little towards GW2 in this category, I will call it a tie due to the rewards provided in GW1 and I did not like the recent karma nerf =/

Ok so up until now the score is 1 – 3 (GW1 – GW2)
So you might ask why were there so many people still loving the pve in GW1? The next category was the answer.

-Elite Areas- (GW1 +1)

  • Underworld, Fissure of Woe, Sorrows Furnace /// Nothing in GW2 -*
    UW and Fow could be accessed from Temple of Ages which were two amazing areas, Each mob had a chance to drop very good loot that encouraged the group to do full clear, not to mention the coolest feature was how players came up with play styles that allowed a group to split up and go different paths to complete various quests either solo or 2-man groups. Each player was essentially competing to complete their assigned quest in a certain time period before consumables ran out. Other more casual groups could do the same content by sticking together but would cost them time but still was quite challenging. Majority of the Pve player base saw this end game content and were absolutely content with it. This is the last straw that is absolutely needed and should not be ignored.

I dint even touch the surface with the above post but those are the top lines, I will post my take on pvp, auction house and other quality of life features in an upcoming post.
While GW2 is clearly ahead in almost all categories Elite Areas will truly add that last missing bit to the game along with opening up the entire prophecies map.

————Making new areas for the other god statues in TOA (GW1)

Even if the above means re-vamping the quests in the old game and making equivalent dynamic events.

Another epic idea: Create an area called Temple of Ages
That will only be accessible if ALL temples on the server are uncontested.
Then have shrines within each area that allow the passage to the above. =D

Nightmare only works in the start of the dungeon.
During the Ooze room, you can use the Elemental Slaying potion.

The rest of the dungeon from there on (with the exception of the nightmare hounds which are super easy to kill) only contains aetherblade pirates, holograms and twisted creatures – None of these have a dedicated potion.

OP, I will explain what you are doing wrong.

It is not a solo fight, as simple as that. Your individual efforts mean very little in the fight and also by playing just in overflows your building yourself up for failure.

I have explained this before, either join a guild that is doing Teq or add/find players who play at your time who are in such guilds.
This fight is meant for you to approach other players who are in the actual server, once you’re in their party, you simply right click on their portrait and click join in Sparkfly. This will get you into the actual server. Once there, try and join TS/Ventrilo w/e the server is using and then help fill the crucial roles.

Consider the overflows as bunch of villagers going at a dragon with pitch forks, they are not going to win. You need to enlist in armed forces and bring in the heavy artillery.

Also I am not sure of other servers but JQ gets about 8-10 kills every day. Also its become increasingly easier to get in the main server now since many players have lost interest.

Actually I think this is a bug and not inteded, If you have your sound on, you will still hear the “ding” as the announcement changes to “Teq is attacking sparkfly” but the text is not appearing any longer.

This is basic QA issue which should have been looked into, How does new content affect the old?
While myself and majority of the old players have done the old achievments, the new players are getting shafted sideways.

Broken Achievements, tons of bugs(eg recent crafting fiasco), not able to play previously released living story, huge karma nerf. Will this ever stop?

The closer we get to the end of the year, the price will fall further- back to the 200-300g mark for most of the good ones.
Crafting precursor was guaranteed by Colin and so its only a few months away. Players who list their weps at a very high price will only regret it soon as the patch arrives.

What you are advocating is queue jumping, they don’t let it happen at alton towers and it shouldn’t happen here. Also people don’t leave the instance in deso. I sat in overflow waiting for a space in main server for 5 hours and nothing. People are just camping it and going afk.

While I agree this is not the best design, it is how it is atm.
Sitting in overflow waitting is not going to work since a spot is taken almost instantly by people spamming the join button.
Also some people might be doing the fight several times if they are failing the event, doing the fight on same char if you have beaten the boss is worthless as you will not get a reward for the 2nd time in the same day.

Find someone that is in the actual server, join their party. Zone to Sparkfly, right click on the portrait of the person and click Join in Sparkfly.
It might give you an error saying instance is full, at this point you can either spam the join button or wait till Teq is just killed. Once Teq is killed everyone in the map will have to either switch character or leave since you only get the chest once per day per character (The bonus chest is once per day per account)
This will open a window for you to jump in before they do, will require up to 1 hr – 1.5 hr wait for the next spawn but if you really want to fight the boss you will have to do so.

Also note the join function only works for your home server, if you guest to another server, you will have to zone to Bloodtide coast and walk into Sparkfly and pray that you get in, zoning in obviously is going to take much longer.

The topic was about Teq tokens and not about dungeon tokens, do not derail the thread by adding more complexity to it. This thread has nothing to do with dungeons, thats a separate issue.

Objective here is to allow players to beat the boss x times to get a certain reward. Even if lets say the mini requires 100 tokens or an ascended box requires 75 Teq kills.

Also all those complaining that this will fill up the inventory, it will take u a very long time to get 250+ tokens if the boss only awards 1 token per kill.

To add to the above, This will also give some of the players to repeat this content after the boss week is up caz currently the rewards are not worth the trouble. Most people are simply doing this only to complete achievements or to experience the content their first time.

TC lost the fight with Tequatl having 1pct health left and did get the “Flawless Defense” achievement. That was last night. I am pretty sure you don’t have to actually beat Tequatl at this point – if they will change that, no idea

I was just in TC about 1 hr ago, boss had 5% and none of the turrets had died the entire fight, I personally watched/repaired them the entire fight.
We were not able to finish the boss with only 5% left and I did not get the achievement…

I like this idea, will atleast give us some progress.
Items acquired by tokens can be account bound, vs the drop from chest can be traded in TP so it will reward the players who get it as a drop.

While I loved the fight and I am sure some scaling might be needed uhuuumm Boss’s hp …..uhmmm…clears throat
I dont agree with the point of “There are now consequences”
Real consequences would mean something along the lines of Lions arch sunken under water Or possibly a Server Wide debuff of something.
Spawning fish heads in a small area where no one stay after the boss is gone isnt exactly consequences….

Is it confirmed that the blue ones are not dropping from W1Z1-3 during normal mode?
I am surprised to see the cost of these weapons have not sky rocketed if that they are no longer dropping.

yup! i recommend picking up a shovel first then going to World 1 Zone 2 and hit all the digging spots will net you 300+ baubles a day.

Honestly I dont think SAB is dying, instead things have simply “changed”

As a player, there are 2 main reasons I will play any content in a game:

1. Enjoyment
2. Rewards

Perhaps the order might diffrent but I am sure its the same for everyone.
Thats as simple as I can put it, now lets compare what changed?

Enjoyment aspect of the game was definately there in both releases. In fact 2nd release brings not only all the content from 1st back but includes an entire 2nd world.
World 2 was borderline a little longer than most players expected. Some mechanics can also be considered quite difficult for your casual player.
But guess what? Infantile mode is available for that crowd. The release overall is close to perfect, few bugs? well sure thats going to happen no matter how much testing is done. In terms of enjoyment World 2 was dead on.

So why are the numbers so less?
The reason is (2) rewards.
Whether this was a decision made by the SAB team or leadership, this is what made SAB a one time play for me. Desire to repeat the content is simply not there for me at this point. In the first release, majority of the players played this over and over since we could farm obby shards, skill point related items and more. Now all of those are gone and all I can earn is the same skin but a different color.

So a little message straight to Josh, if I may, Please dont consider this a measure for the content you created, since your content is 10/10 instead the only reason the numbers are fewer now is due to the lack of rewards compared to released 1.
Please continue to design future worlds, majority of players love and enjoy SAB more than any other living story patch released to date.
Also I cannot wait to get hold of a purple Super GS!

Underworld, FoW, and other

This is something that is indeed needed.
The dungeons are there which usually take 10-15 mins rewards are decent now.
But the feel of going into an elite area like UW where trash actually drop mats worth while is would be simply epic.

Also I know as a vet gw1 player, most of us waitted over 7 years hoping that the statues of dwayna, melandru and Lyssa would actually one day allow us to venture in an epic new place but were only dissapointed when nothing became of them.

Adding UW, fow and 3 additional elite areas will make the game beyond epic.

I would also like cantha (deep & Urgoz) & Nightfall ( Doa) but god knows how long it will take to even unlock anything close to these areas at the rate of these living stories.

Here’s my view on this topic:

There are 2 types of dungeons atm:
1. Pug friendly
2. Pug Buster

TA f/u is definately a Pug Buster dungeon, im sure we have established that by now. But the question now comes up, should all dungeons be Pug friendly?
The answer is NO!

Majority of the players who are having an issue with this path are running this with pugs and are going to fail unless they have some good players in their team.

If you are having problems with a dungeon or content, join a guild that specializes in that, everyone is capable off joining up to 5 guilds….If you are still unable to beat it then join a better guild.
Some will obviously argue, well I dont like to be “Social” or join a guild, well then guess what, you need to a do a pug-friendly dungeon path such as cof p1.

If your objective is to get the dungeon master title then join a Guild that does dungeons on a dialy basis and you will find that all dungeon paths currently are quite easy.

The only thing Anet needs to address now is the reward, all “Pug Buster” paths need to reward 1.5 – 3g based on the amount of difficuly, length and organization required.
A nerf of difficulty is not needed.
