The game doesn’t natively support a controller. Like Aeryn said, you could try Xpadder or another 3rd-party software.
“GW2 does not use 3D.”
Yes, it does. Any game that uses the X, Y and Z axis’ uses 3D. GW2 also supports stereoscopic 3D.
Even better, sirsquishy.8531. I figure if they won’t listen to me (and others), maybe they’ll listen to you.
Yeah…we’re just guessing…
:)
I’m running 344.75 with no issues. You could always try it and revert back if you experience problems.
Update or reinstall your video card drivers.
“…noone here is actually interested in a answer from anyone else but someone from a-net. The rest of you are only guessing…”
No we aren’t. Some of us here are electronics/computer techs (me). If I remember correctly, Sirsquishy is an IT network engineer. Of course, a lot of you simply refuse to provide helpful information (such as a Tracert) or take any troubleshooting steps to locate the problem.
If you understood how the internet actually works; the first thing you would do is run a Tracert and look at the log. It will show you where packets are getting dropped, as well as ping times for the different nodes in the path.
A-net constantly monitors the game servers (and a whole lot of other things). They will be the first to know if a server has a problem. They can’t resolve issues with the path packets take to the servers.
You could always play Minesweeper.
How to use Tracert:
Turn off mouse pointer trails in the control panel.
Please post a tracert. Complaining without providing diagnostic information will not resolve your issue or (at least) show where the problem is.
Please provide tracert data. That’s the only way we can pinpoint the issue.
I’m not experiencing any lag and I have what most would consider a low-end PC.
No. A 32 bit Windows OS cannot use more than about 3.3 Gig of RAM (except for certain server versions). That is a limitation of the kernal and why I recommended switching to a 64 bit OS.
RAM beyond about 3.3 Gig on 32 bit Windows is never utilized.
You’re running out of memory. The best option is to upgrade to a 64 bit OS. You can also try lowering your graphics settings.
It’s also a good idea to disable unneeded programs from running in the background:
I’ve tried Bitdefender in the past and ran into the same issues, but not with this website. I don’t know of a way to allow “blocked” websites in Bitdefender.
I recommend uninstalling Bitdefender and switching to Avast.
This is strange. I don’t know why you all are having this issue. I scanned my Guild Wars 2 folder with Avast and came back clean (see picture).
t’s odd.I also had these problems and still have and typed in here about it a couple of times,
but it seems that you just think there is a problem with the user’s computer.
what I do not get is that we written and said that the game worked well long time back in time , but this problem has just popped up and after any of the patch among the latest, apparently with some bugs in the program code.
In this case, yes, there is a problem with the user’s computer as I pointed out. I have an Nvidia graphics card (GTX460) and I have no issues with GW2.
Not at crashes are the same. In order to assist you we need information regarding the problem (such as crash logs).
From your first log:
10 194ms 11/ 25 = 44% 0/ 25 = 0% ae5.edge2.miami2.level3.net [4.68.111.121]
You are losing 44% of your packets. This is where the problem is. You have to look at the first place where you’re losing a lot of packets; anything beyond that is cumulative.
From your second trace:
10 121ms 5/ 25 = 20% 0/ 25 = 0% ae5.edge2.miami2.level3.net [4.68.111.121]
Both traces show major problems at this server:
ae5.edge2.miami2.level3.net
You may be able to contact them with the trace details so they can resolve the problem. Here is a page showing the contact information:
You might have a browser hijacker or some form of malware.
Do full scans for viruses and malware.
“10 —- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% ae1.XT2.FFT1.ALTER.NET [140.222.232.69]
0/ 100 = 0% |”
There’s where your problem is. Alter.net has nothing to do with the game servers.
Also, the game servers won’t respond to ICMP packets (pings), so they will always show 100% loss although they are fine.
anybody have an answer as to why we couldn’t access the servers but all our friends could still play just fine?
Yes. There is most likely a problem with a server node on the path your computers take to the game servers. We can’t pinpoint the issue because you haven’t provided a Tracert.
Have you considered that Skype may be causing a software conflict with GW2?
“Guild Wars 2 Account Will Be Shut Down Inform”
That wording should be a clue that it’s a phishing attempt. I get these all the time, but my spam filter puts them in the spam folder.
Your video card is crashing, possibly because it’s an overclocked version or some other hardware problem. Typically though, freezing graphics is the symptom of a failing video card:
- Crash <—*
Exception: c0000005

I would try dropping the clock speed a bit. Another possibility is a failing power supply that isn’t able to provide enough power to the video card.
Well, since it only changes how you connect to the game; I see no reason why you would get banned using it.
“I’d understand if I was the only one having this issue or if my internet was having problems but neither are true.”
The only way to determine this is by troubleshooting the problem.
Have you done a Tracert to the game servers and provided the information here? Without that information, it’s impossible to determine where the problem is.
Uninstall the Nvidia 3D drivers.
You’re welcome. I don’t know why Dell sets the function keys up that way though.
Just so you know:
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 770 SC Edition (Not overclocked)
SC = SuperClocked, which is an overclocked card.
Edit: Oops, Healix beat me to it.
This should work for you:

I suspect that you have a software conflict between GW2 and some other program:

Try using Msconfig to shut off ALL unneeded start-up programs. More info here:
Hmmm…no lag or server problems for me…
Same here, mine is 19.2 GB.
Edited to add that I’m referring to the entire Guild Wars 2 folder.

Just so you guys know, when you are installing software on Windows – Windows uses environment variables to determine where to install the files.
Locations such as ‘My Documents’ vs. ‘Documents’ will automatically be chosen. The registry even functions the same way, unless the installer is specifically set up differently.
This is why when you install a program on Windows XP, it will get installed to the default ‘Program Files’ folder – but if you install the same program on (say) Windows 7 64-bit, it will get installed in the default ‘Program Files (x86)’ folder.
I know this because I occasionally write installer scripts using Inno Script Studio. Sometimes I need to include registry entries in the script. If I don’t specifically change the default registry script – entries will be placed in HKLM/software (for 32 bit OS) and HKLM/Software/WoW6432Node (for 64 bit OS); which is their correct default location.
Of course, it works the same for the software install locations unless I set up specific locations. It’s generally not a good idea to do that if the software will be installed on different operating systems, especially for 64 bit OS’.

I see two different refresh rates at the same time. Maybe a bug in GW2 doesn’t like it or your graphics card doesn’t like it.
Try running GW2 with one monitor or the other instead of both at the same time.
Yes, you can run it.
Well, my thoughts are that you should never buy a pc – but build one instead.
As mentioned above, getting “Network Adress is invalid" when tring to put:
Primary DNS Server: 209.244.0.3
Secondary DNS Server: 209.244.0.4
Try using OpenDNS instead:
Primary: 208.67.222.222
Seconary: 208.67.220.220
You’re using a “preview” build of a new OS that has a long ways to go before release. Therefore, you should expect numerous compatibility problems with software and hardware.
Game now runs smooth for me even at low frame rates (when doing events with a lot of people).
I can certainly tell that changes have been made and I appreciate it
I thought this was a desktop – doh.
Anyway, it would be a good idea to monitor your temperatures while testing the new supply. I use a program called Hardware Monitor (free), which you can get here:
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
Grab the 1.25 setup version on the right, if ya’ want.
Try re-seating the card a couple of times. Sometimes the connections get tarnished and don’t make solid contact.
Sorry, didn’t mean to come across so rude in my post.
Please let us know the results (I’m sure the new PS will fix it).
Any chance you accidentally put your graphics card in a 1X slot?
Try moving it back to the original slot and check the manual for your motherboard to make sure that you are putting it in a 16X slot.
You can’t increase your RAM without switching to a 64 bit OS (well, technically you can, but it won’t make any difference). A 32 bit OS will limit you to roughly 3.5 Gig no matter how much RAM you have (there are certain exceptions to this however).
Try turning off the overclock (or Turboboost).
CPU-Z “thinks” it’s a single core processor and Guild Wars 2 probably “thinks” that also. Since at least a dual-core is required to play this game, it makes sense that the error would show up in this case.
The fan is new. The power supply is new. The CPU is working fine. The computer is cool and running fine. Every other piece of software runs fine.
The problem is now solved. I uninstalled Guild Wars 2. Computer working perfectly.
Just because a component is new, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t defective. The fact is you have a hardware problem.
Guild Wars 2 will not shutdown a computer that is working properly. As was said numerous times – it’s probably your power supply OR a temperature problem.
What are you gonna’ do when it happens again? Are gonna’ blame that program or game as well?
That is a common symptom of a failing power supply.
I’m not going to argue with you. You are wrong, period.
Good luck and have a nice day.
1. That’s not a memory leak and I don’t need to read your post again.
2. You are assuming that the client will free a certain amount of memory when you have no idea how the client is designed to work. It is probably caching assets in memory that the client “decided” that it may need to access again.
3. Something else is causing your FPS to drop and the game to become choppy. It has nothing to do with memory usage.
