after having “studied” Sword dps a bit, one thing i’ve learnt it if you can afford to, never interupt the sword auto 3rd chain. also, with the latest patch? not sure if exploit or not but a bug perhaps? i think, often i’ll be auto attacking and i’ll get to hit sword wave twice in a row. unsure of what causes it exactly, so that’s massive damage from the sword AA chain. just food for thought.

last but never the least, a huge thanks to Sanctum of Rall. especially the commanders that tag up during SEA time! (not speaking for other time zones merely beacuse id on’t get to play then : )) )despite having long hours of playing, and seemingly less numbers to work with, you guys still fight hard and do what you do best. would follow you to the ends of the earth.

am sure i don’t need to say this, but don’t let naysayers from any server get you down. contrary to popular belief, i personally have seen many a commander during the times that i am on work and organize with their own guild, other guilds and guess what, militia! they give commands, they explain why they do certain things, and are awesome, awesome folk.

i’ll be frank, more than surprised (and definitely a little disheartened) to see the numbers we’re seeing for this week, and as a result of that, the fights get “tougher”. it’s a vicious cycle i guess and hard to break out of if you will. but i’ll always stand by SoR. we’ll find our way. you’ve seen how we can fight. we know how we can fight. and i am sure i’ll see that again soon. i see.. no, wait, i KNOW of great leaders and a great community. and these are merely the very exact reasons everyone else stays on and loves their own server. regardless of score, regardless of population, regardless of tags up… no one, i repeat, no one gets to tell me otherwise.

agreed. would love some insight into where / what they’ve got planned for the Guards. i really just want some more reliable hard / soft CC built into our skills/traits/weapons. so as it stands, it seems they’re still stuck on us getting in the fight and staying in the fight. survivability is fine, mobility is fine, imho… but the ability of others escaping and resetting the fight before any of my CD’s are back up is one of the larger issues for me.

i am pretty sure this was only meant to act the same as any other “commune” type skillpoint you see in the open world. you commune with it, you get your skillpoint and that is it. i always saw the “true” purpose to solely be able to charge quartz crystals while doing half your daily mining in the same instance. sure, there are all around the world, so if you rather do that, go do that.

maybe this is just the start of the home instance upgrades. soon, you’ll probably be able to do your entire mining daily in the same instance, so might as well charge a quartz while you’re at it. though they’re only used for celestial gear right now.. maybe it’ll be used again in the future?

though time and again, the “exciting” prospects with speccing for a condi/burn Guard as it stands.. is either go balls deep in Zeal for the extra condi (which i still think is too little); or balls deep in Virtues for the utility of proccing burns (Supreme Justive and Permeating Wrath)… so naturally, the two compliment one another. it’s just that.. when you do that, you have nothing left for sustain.

that would be amazingly interesting to play with. would it be too strong though? we can apply burning like no other and while burning can hit hard, it usually won’t coming from most Guards. though chill itself can be excruciatingly deblitating (is that the word?) since it can happen so often.

i would love it obviously, lol. at the same time, we’d have to deal with it from enemy Guardians running it as well. heh.

now imagine permeating wrath —> permeating chill. and with the new change with Supreme Justice. that’ll be a 1s AoE chill every 3 hits.

achievements should be focused on things that need to be done “regardless”. like for example, killing people. or taking shiet.

but upgrades, repairs, etc these are often not done ASAP and not all of them needed at all times for various reasons. people new to WvW should learn these thigns as well and the achievements focused on these (repair in the case of s1) teach them otherwise.

usually champ trains form.. because they respawn quick enough and players have somehow together figured out most efficient ways to farm these champs.

if you’re solo and you see a champ up, if you could take 2 seconds to say “_ champ is up”, then you’ll most likely hear from the champ train. “we’re at [ ], pls don’t stay ____ yet, we’re on our way”. if you want you can ask how far they are with [ ] and if you can join, if not, just wait a few at _.

sure, there will be people who can be extremely rude but there’s no reason for you to take offense to them. and if they are rude, you can always say “i was simply notifying people that the champ was up, not meaning to throw off the train”. especially since you are familiar with the concept of champ trains.

or.. go to maps where there are no champ trains and kill th ose champs.

how fun would it be if a bunch of us could play ont he same server, and run an all Guardian small-med group

@Cat – i’ve used both – condition duration, as well as traveler for the 25% and if yuo had to choose one, it’s a hard trade-off. like you said, you could use traveler runes for 25% speed, which is nice when roaming or small group. and then use – cond duration food. it can get pricey but i do think it’s worth it. there will be times you may be caught with your condi cleanse medi’s on CD and the – condi duraiton does make a notable difference from my experiences.

if you don’t go traveler i used to swap staff, drop 3 and swap back to hammer or GS immediately. but i have been caught with staff and stuck in combat.. ://

@aspirine – join a party and that should help a bit ideally, not all of you are condition based. heh.

and for exmaple, if you are using weapon skills, and then there are 3 rams dropped, the gate’ll probs go down too fast that you haven’t done enough damage.

well, we all had to learn one way or another. of course, to add on to that, i think it’s more up to the WvW vets to help out. teach the new-comers, certain guilds or groups of people who feel convicted can run training programs. make sure your new WvW-ers get onto TS, Voip. don’t hold their hands, but help lead the way.

those who WvW often shouldn’t right off the bat expet all PvE-ers to be bad. they can learn and will grow and adapt.

on the other hand though, PvE-ers or new WvW-ers ought to have the right midnset and attitude coming to WvW as well. they need to be willing to learn.

it’s all mutual. don’t think the game needs special handicaps or mechanics as such to help bring more people in.

jokes aside, most of them are actually okay.. as long as they work and function properly.

@Charak – how do you run with so little HP? and yes, i was going to suggest 10/25/30/0/5 : )) though i do have some vit from gear, etc.

i will have to say that Traveler runes definitely made a nice little impact on roaming for Guardians. never felt we had THAT big of a problem, not saying they don’t exist though especially with the amount of resetting that various classes can do, but this helps give us a nice little edge. : )) quite enjoying them.

and @Hunter – agreed hammer + GS meds is a nice combo. though there are many times when i miss my sword 2 port as well (but then you miss out on quite a few CCs from the hammer).

i don’t think it’s a bad idea. i do hope ANet is looking at the threads.. no one’s asking them to just implement any given idea that was ever suggested. that’s just silly. but there are ideas and ANet asked for ideas and in fact the crazier the better. who knows, mgith spark the exact formula needed to be able to enhance the Guardian class, add a little more flavor, and still be relatively balanced.

again, there’s never gonna be a one off, over night fix that’ll magically change everything. these changes will have to come over time. and player feed back will be needed to do that. suggestions. ideas. what not.

that being said, would love to hear morein depth what the Devs think of the Guardian class, how they’d liek to see us and if any further changes are on the table right now. anything would be mildly interesting.

@Obtena – hopefully most people do see that. i think this was a nice little fun “bug” to have. at lesat to be able to do in LA, etc. though if it really does completely nullify all damage it does when it happens, then perhaps it needed a fix (i personally attribute that to the lag though).

one of the Guardian’s specialities.. so to speak, might as well play it up.

bravo to the Glacial Heart suggestion change! chilling symbols. yes please. still makes it heavily tied to the hammer and i personally think meshes well with Guardians and our playability.

also, add any of the above symbols to the weapons that are missing them : )))

and to answer your question, it’s either bad timing on my part cause when they do port, my JI is on CD. :// and when it’s up, there’ll usually be 5 other teammates DPS-ing them down. ONE OF THESE DAYS!

@Amins – heh, forgot those too! they did mistform and stealth when they needed to not die themselves though ; )) so one could argue, good playing on your part again lol

torch on a Guardian burst build is AMAZING. very very fun. and don’t get fixed on the burnign even though it’s a torch. go DD and power / crit ratings and you’ll see masssively high numbers.

Boons shows great clips on how he uses the torch as well as many sPvP Guards that use torch in their burst builds as well and you’d be surprised how much damage you can stack into one split second. of course, always easier if you get the jump on someone and surprise ‘em before they know they’re gettign surprised with a fireball to the face.

torch 5 could really use a rework. wtb self-clenase. the damage component is pretty poor but i still use it. just watch out for retaliation and block procs on your enemies.

it’s the small things in life. i for one think it’s a nice change! from the looks of it.. and in case people haven’t noticed it already they’re adding more and more to the home instance, so think of it from a long term perspective. it could potentialy be another one stop shop for all yoru special harvesting needs.

and i don’t think this is the end of the update. this is just a tease if anything. i feel… maybe they don’t want to giev away too much yet, so who knows.. there might be more?

NICE! spinning only? good enough for me. now can we do it in LA with the dummies??

also, don’t forget you can switch weapons. so spin away with your mace, scepter, staff.. and best of all.. HAMMER! that should really be a move on the hammer btw. causes knockback with every single hit as well ; ))

and if it still works the way it used to.. pop virtues of shouts or anything that’s instant to keep yourself “in combat” so the animation doesn’t stop.

though i guess eventually this will need to be fixed lol so we don’t pop CDs and do no dmg.

am sure we’ve all been on the receiving end of being chilled and it is annoying as! waiting for the 3.1s… 2.5s… to tick when you need a life saver or to finish someone. with chill? that can become excruciatingly long! actually.. in the heat of the moment, it’s as if time has stopped. :PP

very well thought out. the part about specialized WvW-ers especially resonates, not with me specifically, but i am sure for many of those who love WvW-ers.

this will definitely get people “doing WvW stuff”. no more, no less. playign actualy WvW is a different story. i can agree that by normal play, many may get many of these achieves, but people will inevitably start “hunting” them. especially as the season starts to wind down. looking forward to seeing how those last couple weeks of WvW are gonna turn out. just pure speculation.
