[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
end of the day it comes to what kind of content you want to do, and how you want to do it. and what works for someone may not work for another.
if people are asking for high or optimal DPS, peolpe will give them straight answers. i personally think AH has a place. and yes, it can most definitely achieve good DPS – for what the build is supposed to do. on the other hand, it definitely is not the highest DPS us Guardians can choose to equip ourselves with, again, key point here, in various portions of the game in different situations.
there should be no black or white for eevry single situation out there.
the thing is there are argubly stronger sigils out there, depending on build make up. though i’ve always been a fan of chill – one of the more underrated conditions in the game i feel. for certain classes, CD management is the game and this can really throw a curveball at them. though with hydromancy, if they figure it out, they can kinda know when to expect it ~9s and ideally you want to utilize the uptime you can achieve with chill procs. so GH is a welcome addition as its less predictable, though the CD is pretty darn long. i wouldn’t even mind so much if it was only on the hammer fo rnow if they tweaked the CD more.
and interesting with mace + two shields. why not a focus? GS actually does really well too. and heh, i play up symbols with hydromancy as well. can we say double symbols plus chill to keep the dmg ticking on ’em?
i actually have a build that runs 2x Ice, 2x Svanir, 2x Sanctuary. i also run at least 10 in Zeal so that’s a total of 70% is my maths is correct. Each hydromancy swap gives me a [five second] (really? 5 / s?) chill and if i’m using GH, that’s a 8s chill. though on a 30s CD and not all that reliable (since due to the choice of runes, i do lack in crit chance if i want to be survivable enough in modern mistsfare).. chill uptime is not bad when played right.
plus you get other conditions like burns and vulns and ideally others as well when in group fights so players can’t reliably take off chill. PLUS it’s really annoying to have it on for you even for most of any given fight. that being said.. stillt rying to “perfect” this build. and to be honest, more often than not, i won’t be taking GH. :// radiance 25 is nice for this since if you’re not burning, you’re most likely chilling.. but again same issue. was not that sustainable last time i ran this setup. but it’s pretty fun. definitely helps with fleeing enemies. swap yea you ain’t going nowhere. then you can more reliably land your binding blades, chains or ring.
and for fun – re: double weapons. i do know of, rather.. have seen, many players who stick to just one weapon most of the time anyways. so if they put on two, hey! at least they can utilize swap sigils. ; ))
the one plus is that i am always stuck in forever spinnyD which i haven’t been able to do in a while. lol
and then i wonder would cleansing flame work the same? other than spinning myself dizzy, forever flames is also always fun.
hello, children of the Mists!
last night, hit a BL and got in WITHOUT QUEUE!D and one of my fave commanders on to boot. had a few fun fights here and there. some zerging. some roaming. and to the PvE-ers who are putting in the effort to learn and contribute, i salute thee.
dangit. can’t wait to get home and play some.
nice, Amins. good to see you back in action. though, really nothing to write home about, huh.
nice JI stomp. ; )) i still haven’t come across the oportunity to do that yet. XDD
[added]
that 3(4 ; )))v8 fight was AWESOME. great display of movement, locking down and focus fire as well as branching off when need be. i was pretty darn pumped when that charr warr got put down!! but then of course, sneaky house gets thrown down. lol.
also, good to see strong use of the shield as well. heh, surprised your down #2 and shield #5 pretty much knocked every single person away. that never happens when i fight. : (( lol
(edited by akamon.2769)
just use your skills to overcome that X%!
the legendaries you have themselevs IS the achievement.
adn the fact that you have them filled out. the points? they’re trivial in this case.
i don’t feel the legendaries themselves should be detracted from “LOOK AT THE awesome AP’s i got for equipping 5 unique legendaries!”
to be honest, when i picked them up to test ’em out and ran in WvW, i was like meh. nice to have. theeeeeeen after the patch, i switched back over to my other sets and by golly, it makes a difference. lol.
they’r epricey but try ’em out. definitely nice for roaming and getting places faster. might even save your neck a few times.
can confirm. well.. at least i have seemed to notice the situation you’ve described. but the lag is so bad in WvW right now so i wouldn’t be suprised if it’s a mix of graphical glitches, to the skill not firing off or seem like it did but the hits not registering.
the other day i held down my hammer 5 long enough for me to go through the animation, the ring actually shows up on screen but my skill then never goes on CD. ://
for now, you can always get an ele friend to lend a hand. ; ))
lolol.
BLUE BUBBLES or go home.
those arguing against zerker/glass/max DPS builds, you do have to realize where they’re coming from. and too often when you come across them with your “spending more time being dead than anything” excuses, it’s more often than not they’re just copynig whatever they read online, or not even traiting properly, and they don’t properly avoid mechanics that they need to avoid. everyone needs to practice somewhere sometime.
if someone can survive just as well as you while doign twice the DPS, why the hell not? again, people have different playstyles and OP was asking for a build that can survive well and do MAX DPS WHILE surviving. and that’s what people offered. no need to get your undies in a bunch cause of a few bad runs. [added: hell, i’m practicing goign more DPS than i’m used to and i do land flat on my face a few times, but then i ask questions, i figure out what i’m doing wrong and learn and yes, EVOLVEEEE.
so @OP, don’t believe that all “DPS-ers” are bad. at the same time, from the sounds of it you do want to do damage and not just “support” either. so, i’d say best is find a combination of DPS vs sustainability that you’re comfortable with and go from there. try out different traits each time, try out different gear when you can afford to. learn the instances and hopefully you find find people who are patient enough to help you when you need it and that you’re open and willing to learn.]

and i broke the thread. here is a try to fixing it.
Thanks to the SoR Mesmer with the guild tag [BaD] wearing the charr t3 armor with a arah helmet and a ascalonian greatsword, we fought by the centaurs and it was magical, made me feel like a unicorn on heroin
lol that sounds amazing. i want fights like that.
wtb lag fix. i has lots of broken picks or whatever you get from bags to trade.
and oh, random, but i REALLY really wanted to make Glacial Heart on the Guardian work, as much as i knew it wouldn’t.. and it didn’t. : ((
very wise indeed, wiseman. i don’t know what to say.
in regards to the general PvE vs WvW crowd, i personally think it’s a good thing.. as long as those “new” to PvE are willing to learn and still contribute to the overall WvW objectives or don’t sabotage both their own server and enemy servers and play in good faith – whatever that may mean. i think it’s a good idea to have achievement points / rewards what not to get people into WvW, assuming this was ANet’s goal.
now what happens next is what’s important from my perspective. those who are more seasoned at WvW can either whine and moan PvE-ers are violating their game mode, or they can teach them help them make them fall in love with WvW just as you did.. in doing so, we all get better fighters stronger servers. of course, this is in an ideal world. there will always be peeps who literally just want their achieves and the PTFO once they’re done. but hey, if we can get those who enjoy WvW to stay and become a long time WvW-ers and they regularly contribute from here on out, it can’t be bad can it?
i’d say those who consider themselves WvW-only or well-versed in the battle of the mists can definitely maake a different in how these PvE/PUGs contribute to the larger scale of the game mode. just thinking out loud…
If someone can ans. my questions.
1) Is there still horrendous lag or is it only when blob VS blob
2) Are there many new guild names in WvW
3) from q2 , are they pve players or pugs or new stransfers
4) WHat is the average que time for each server
5) will it reduce by weekday
6) any serious bugs?
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Yes
4) 1-2 Hours
5) No
6) Yes
can confirm.
though, did have relatively short queue time for one of your BLs earlier. but just left after a while cause lag was so bad (roaming in small group of 3 – 4, fighting other small groups).
Probably the hardest aspect of the JP is the end jumping through the shattered window.
I don’t know if you are joking, but you can’t fail that last jump. That or I have been really lucky because both times I arrived at the top, I jumped a little too late and instead of going through the opening, I “hit” the wall (you fall through it and get to the reward zone).
I don’t know why but I have to jump into the wall two slots over from the window to enter….been happening to me since the start of Halloween. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch or a bug….but Jumping into the window for me doesn’t work. I think the animations slow or laggy, but it’s annoying haha
forgive the double post, but just saw these exchanges. heh, it’s more than possible to fail the last jump. others who’ve made it up there said they saw me jump on-time for sure, and they make it in. all i get is loading screen, but i hear the hands grabbing me and i end up down at the start. other times they say they didn’t see me jump at all, when i did.
note: even last year, you never visually jump through the broken glass. it always looks like you don’t make the jump and fall (at least, that’s how i made it last year).
it’s extremely laggy. haven’t tried jumping two panels before the clock yet though ahah so i’ll give it a shot. but that’s MASSIVE lag. and you jump straight into the wall as it spins, but two panels before the clock face comes up? and there are a total of 6 “walls”, correct? including the clock face.
[edit: t ypo and added some stuff]
i experienced the exact same rush when i got to the very top of the Clocktower as i did last year. heart racing. kinda adrenaline rushing. solely because of the time factor. which i think is great.
however, seeing others turned into mists, AND limited to only 4 other players kind of killed the atmosphere.
i sort of expected something to be changed to the Clocktower or upgraded. but i can see why they didn’t touch it either. : ))
though, i still haven’t completed it yet. lag seems to be worse off this time around? i turned graphcis all the way down to best perf (didn’t ahve to do this last year) and it’s REALLY buggy in the waiting area and i cannot for the life of me make the last jump at the end (it was a lot “easier” last year lol). i’ve done it a dozen times at least. jumping when i hear the lightning, jumping when i see the lightning, whent he glass breaks, i jump earlier, anticipating the clockface to get smashed.. jumped forward at an angle run jumped, stood at edge jumped.. delaying the jump DEFINITELY doesn’t get you anywhere. only haven’t tried dodge jumping but i don’t think that’ll make a difference. any tips?
well, apparently this Warr can drop people in seconds (yt comments…). i’m usually not skeptical. but go ahead, call me a skeptic. just this once.
not on my warrior, Guardian here but i haven’t gotten the trick to work in ages. :// it was a fun little thing to do (GS3, torch 5, even mace 3 amongst others).
is it done the same way? success rate is down to 0% for me now lol.
guys? what is the meaning of life anymore..? can anyone help me? anyone?
i dropped the new and improved consecrations PLUS activated signet of mercy on myself… to no avail. and all but is left now are despair and massive cooldowns.
: ((((
ha, for whatever strange reason, never thought about hallowed ground with AH. but that makes total sense.
one place i like to use it and it’s very powerful is obviously in chokepoints. or, when you first get a gate or wall down, and wanna make it to higher ground.i pop stability, then while runnign through the choke, drop HG and hopefully all your other allies can make it through easier as well. sure, one could argue that it gets wasted cause the field is now back there.. but hey, battles can be so easily turned if you lose even a 4th of your force that get stuck at chokes.
lol, glad you guys all enjoyed this as much as i did “creating” it.
oh, the possibilities for our class!!
ahh, that makes sense. getting up a defeated player would be too much i guess. though, the change to it being ground targeted now is a welcoming change.
heh, 4 seconds. more could definitely be done with this signet. matter of fact, most if not all signets of the guard (some are quite nice though, to be fair).
p.s. would love to run with u sometime! gonna be weird beign on the same side lol
giving up damage to gain damage. wait, what?
the life of trying new things on a Guardian.
heh, i know i know (and for good reason! would be OP if it did refresh ://).. was just having some forum fun. ; ))
hey, hey, who let the SoR roamers out!?
Brutaly to that i say… DUAL HAMMER CHILL BUILD! XDDD
good to know. might not be terribad for someone who’s building on Healing Power to ahve on their slot anyways. but then again, you can just always slot it in if you see the Lord going down soon and there aren’t many or Warriors around.
but okay, so it still doesn’t revive defeated players? it’s supposed to, yes? no? maybe?
:DDD now we’re talking.
the new meta:
@Donari and Zax – thanks, folk. i’ll head back in tonight. : ))
re: the “stagnant” gameplay of consecrations.. heh, what about a trait for consecrations that the consecration followed your Guardian with every step?
…
okay. i’ll admit, i only had PF and HG in mind. a walking Wall of reflect would be nuts. or sanctuary. haha nvm. carry on, carry on.
quick question – so has the premier season of leagues officially started? i’m so confused about the whole thing lol. and the achieves are for the duration of the 7 weeks i assume yes? cause some numbers are pretty high. while some pretty low.
first league match up is on reset if Anet doesn’t delay leagues again.
also achievements are locked they are there but you cant start them til next reset
thanks for the elaboration. so come this Friday then? yay.
if you’re running around in open world, yay. the extra mobility with JI paired with GS and s/f is always a nic change of pace.
if you’re doing group content, especially dungeons, than meditations are the last thing on your mind.
and personal side track – testing it a bit, the short duration of the fury you get is not that enticing to me. meditations you’ll use to cleanse conditions, to heal mainly, and it’s hard to guarantee you’ll ahv eburst skills up ready for that small window. apart from JI, which many open with, which can be nice.
Roamers? From SoR? Can I buy tickets to see them?
raises hand
just representing me. but i roam on occasion.
and i would like to believe that i am free to see.
quick question – so has the premier season of leagues officially started? i’m so confused about the whole thing lol. and the achieves are for the duration of the 7 weeks i assume yes? cause some numbers are pretty high. while some pretty low.
regardless, Oceanics/SEA of SoS, SBI and my beloved SoR, i shall (hopefully) see you all tonight. bring it!
i think it’s a good thing.
and if you’re running in a zerg, you can always ask LFG. or i’ve been on more occasions that one, since i usually run solo more often than not, random person would invite me to party, and i join. yuo meet new friends, yuo sometimes meet old firneds you haven’t fought alongside in a while there’s nothing to lose.
easiest, if all you want is to get the achieve done is go to HotM, go to the sparring area (iirc, NNE section of HotM map, where the orange fist is). You can defeat the enemies there (ele i remember is pretty quick to down) and then start yuor finisher, cancel. start, cancel.. you should get it done in no time.
o snap. didn’t know. i just avoided all red circles.
i was wondering if these bosses had more mechanics to them than your usual HP sponge.
hmm slightly sidetracking – what’s the quickest way to get the 50 doors achievement? in the laby or out in the open world?
i never spent much time inside the laby last year iirc. mainly doing Clocktower :// but the bosses thsi time around definitely take a long time.
two decent hammer builds are 15/15/0/20/20 or 15/15/0/30/10 (though they recently “fixed” PoV so donno if that makes a big difference now). your build is light on condi cleanse. but if someone in your party is in charge of AoE cleansing then that could probs work.
general consensus is that going past 10-15 in Zeal is usually not a good deal. they really need to relook at that line. you get 10% extra damage on symbols, but you do lose a bit too much utility for my liking. if you’re doing general PvE roaming for fun you could always go 25/25/0/20/0D though, GS + hammer
like a SHINY boss.
for fun – you can also always aura stack for fun.
aww, haviz. it’s otay. my guard cannot blast fire fields either. : ((
(and tbh, i’m really just bitter someone told me to put my hammer away once in a dungeon lol. when that person, nor others, were not systematically dropping fire fields anyways)
that’s why i usually throw down fire field (or try to communicate if PUGs are willing) before dropping the AA chain. though when it’s mid-fight, then it’s hard to coordinate. ://
I’ve spoked to Choo and they spoke to em but they continued doing what they were doing. I had no way of contacting anyone on SoR outside of who I was talking to set up the GvG rounds.
We were told that the Choo commander had asked them to kitten off and they were not complying.
then you guys did what you could. it just sucks to hear things like these happen. we allk nwo they aren’t easy to schedule. and collateral damage to bystanders is no fun either. : (((
ANet, hurry with the legit GvG options.
[edit: added 2nd quote]
(edited by akamon.2769)
there should be a rule of thumb – when dealing with trolls in game, always contact someone on that server whom you know and trust. in this example, you could have tried to talk to Choo commanders or whoever you were organizing it with. and have them try to deal with the trolls. i know, we all have bad apples.. and it’s frustrating. GvG’s take time to plan as well.. but better to take a time to figure things out than risking having misunderstandings.
it’s mentioned the “troll” ran back into the crowd, and we all know how cleave and AoE works in the game.. to go after that one troll in a crowd, who were simply spectating, could hardly be the best solution to the situation, no? not saying talking to Choo or better yet, the commanders from HIRE, would have magically fixed the problem.. but at least, you wouldn’t “accidentally” kitten off other people there who only expected good fights and a good show.
[edit: typo and clarified some stuff]
(edited by akamon.2769)
i love my hammer in all game modes. there are some vocal minority that hate the light field from the hammer AA (because they can’t blast might stacks) but don’t let them get to you.
the hammer is naturally tanky for obvious reasons and when specced for it, can do a lot of damage – which you already. given 3, 4, 5 are all situational in PvE/dungeons, etc you can still find uses for them.
learn all the weapons, and learn what they can do and be better for which situations. but if you enjoy the skin, just go for it. and hammer is the one weapon i feel can have a need for switching stats on so having that option is always nice.
so in the end, no, you’re not wrong / bad to use it. and there’s no reason you can’t play both hammer and GS.
i know it’s a huge investment but it’ll wear off – not saying it’s not worth it, but rather that eventually you won’t feel you HAVE to always use your Juggy after u first get it. you’ll still love it everytime you pull it out to use. at teh same time, you won’t be stubborn enough to ONLY use the hammer. at lesat, that’s how i see it.
what if there were items that you could use mats to exchange for, or buy on the gem store, which would allow switching of stats on ascended weapons or switching sigils / runes? for a cost?
in this way, you get the QoL updates – which i think would eb very very neat. at the same time, there’s still that “gold sink”.
i love how a simple thank you can get spun out of control so quickly.
a compliment or one positive out of the thousand negatives doesn’t mean ANet is gonna slack, or that players are going to mysteriously quit..
ever heard of positive reinforcement? there ought to be a balance of good and bad, compliments and criticism, of which both would ideally be constructive.
ah, true. if you’ve AF (which i’m slowly working on.. curse you SAB! XDD), that makes a big difference. and 18k i feel is still more than enough in the current meta, and what you’re aiming to do with your build. good luck!!
yea, try both sigils out. i think both have their place. it’s just hard to say. i’ve thought a bit more about dodgeroll healing over time, and it definitely adds up. at the same time, that extra power might have been all you needed to end the fight early as well. XDD
haha so glad you guys did this. XDDD
