When you consider your base stats, ascended quality items give more like a 3-4% increase.

If you plan on playing any WvW 3-4% is a big difference. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to mail a random player 3-4% of your weekly gold earnings.

I don’t run dungeons because I just don’t care for them. That said you can’t really expect to get dungeon rewards without doing dungeons. It’s the same thing as the people complaining about getting killed in the eb jumping puzzle.

I support this arena idea mostly because some players really want dueling (not me). If they added an arena in each home city you might see a few people rather than the none you see now. On the days when I’m a little bored it would be nice to watch some 1v1 to get some build/strategy tips.

There were 5 people with their commander tags on the other day at the fire elemental event. I sure am glad that there were plenty of commanders to show me where I had to be. A good commander knows when to tag up and when to drop the tag. I’m getting kind of sick of the LA commanders that have never set foot in wvw and leave the tag on.

I’ve yet to see any kind of proof that a moaning elitist is a far better player than a player with MF gear. The last time I checked, it’s skill, not stats that matter in this game.

Oh, but I forgot, elitists aren’t interested in enjoying GW2 – they’re just in it for the loot and treat it like a second job. After all, it must be really detrimental to them that they might have to spend an extra second or two speedrunning a dungeon because some sneaky MF user has infiltrated their precious MF-free ubergroup.

I also hear the same old argument being trotted out that the rest of the group is carrying the MF user? Are you really so sure about that? How do we know that it’s not you elitists who are just incompetent and looking for a scapegoat to blame every time you get wiped because in reality, you’re so obsessed with stats and ordering people about that it is probably those MF users who are carrying you.

Pretty funny that I don’t have to res players that don’t use MF but if they are running full MF I’m constantly stopping to help them up. Sounds like someone is mad that they won’t be able to leech off of other players anymore soon.

I do often help with kills whether it’s because of my train or someone who is struggling when I got there. I also keep Mass Invis on my bar, so I can give people a chance to escape. That’s about as much as I’m willing to do.

Well it is doable to announce. When I played EQ there was always someone shouting train to such and such. So I know it can be done, but is not done. Again it is a suggestion.

I am glad you are willing and able to help out in the times of need that is how it should be; but there are many that refuse to even do that; or are even aware that are doing it; because they feel they are in a solo game and not a multi-player game.

So now you are going to tell people what is right and wrong? I help people if I see they are in trouble but now I have decided to stop that thanks to you. I doubt anyone will shed tears over a video game death and if they do they should consider therapy.

I think if more commanders realized how valuable the 2-5 man groups are that they would ask for them instead of saying “every one on my tag”.

How are you counting the “fair weather” players? There are quite a few on my server at least. If we are winning or close to it we suddenly have a mega zerg. If we are getting stomped though you can hear crickets except for the die hard WvWers.

There are far more annoying things that happen because of other players than this. Play the way you want.

I completely agree – If they don’t give back at least the laurels that’s dirty pool.

O.K. calm down and take a deep breath. I have found that magic find really doesn’t make that big of a difference in your hourly earnings. Murdering mobs faster with most non-magic find gear makes you just as much gold.

I didn’t know that there was such a thing as a “hard core” PvE server. I’m from NSP and almost exclusively play WvW so someone can have my spot if they want.

I am able to mostly ignore thieves. They are a troll class – as long you keep your wits about you and wait for them to make a mistake you will win. They aren’t that good across the board so I say let them have their stealth.

Bombs, Flamethrower, and Tool-Kit. Most of Rifle’s abilities are close-range based as well.

I’ve actually read most engineer complaints are about the lack of viable RANGED options, and not melee. Nades are a pain to target, Pistol autoattack is a joke, Elixir Gun is condition-based, and rifle autoattack just doesn’t do much special.

Also, who actually runs an engineer in serious PvE play without a kit?

Pve is so face roll that yes I didn’t use a kit until WvW. Turrets even work in Pve if you know what you are doing.

HoM is accessible by all players -grab a stone from a charr in LA. However there’s nothing there for you there if not for GW1. I like the idea very much though. Perhaps as part of the achievements revamp, a certain number of points allows you to restore the Hall partially, and gain access to the scrying pool. I like it a lot.

No thank you. I have no problem at all with an arena or even an entire zone for dueling but the OP stated that wasn’t good enough either. People duel all the time in WvW so I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal.

I’ll give you my top 2 reasons since you didn’t feel like looking.
1. You think culling and lag are bad in pve now go ahead and add to the problem.
2. Think of the players that won’t use a mount. If you play an Asuran and get in a large group of players you can’t see the poor little guy. When you add mounts it will just compound the problem.

I have no problem if you want to add them in an arena or race track. As much as I would love to drive a chugger running over separatist grinding them under the wheels it would cause more problems than benefits.

If you attach a way to get it through dungeons you had better add it to the other game modes too. I haven’t set foot in a dungeon in months because I just don’t care for them. Figure out how to add it to WvW without using badges and I’ll be on board.

There is open world farming still – it’s just not “exploitive” any more. I can still manage an average of 1.25 g per hour. The fact that I can make that much in open world pve is the only reason I have no problem with the Cof farmers. Now if they would just tweak the rewards in WvW a tiny bit…..

My server usually doesn’t usually have a que but if it did and you where taking up a spot without fighting so you could do this – I would be a little annoyed.

Anet has actually been wrong about things they’ve stated in the past tho, several times. Or how about the ecto salvage rate that was only fixed because of how many threads were pointing at it?

It wasn’t how many threads, it was how many players where willing to do LARGE test batches of ecto salvage and post the results showing that there was a problem. The fact that they admitted that there was a problem instead of stealth fixing it says quite a bit.

So dungeons are supposed to have priority?

1. Lions arch usually has banners up at peak times and it’s worth the silver to jump there to get the buff.
2. Keep food buffs up.
3. If you camp the boss events don’t just stand there waiting – farm until it starts.
4. Kite as many mobs as you can handle into a blob then aoe them.
5. Use speed buffs to get you to the next mob quickly – the quicker you travel the more money you make.
6. Don’t just farm one area or for one thing – stay ahead of the DR.

These are my general rules when I actively farm, hope it helps.

How about we let them finish fixing/polishing the game first. I don’t think very many players – especially the ones on the forums – think about how hard it is to balance a game this big. I do like StinVecs idea of being able to switch out #5 though. I would like to add to their idea and make it where you had to capture the skill like you did for elites in GW1.

You apparently don’t see us ranged people doing our job towards the back of the group or clearing walls. Lots of players lose their lives trying to res their team mate while I dump grenades on their head.

I’m down with everything except #4. I use the environmental animals against my enemies every chance I get.

Go read the IoJ/DH/NSP matchup thread from last week and tell me how well double teaming/alliance works out. When it happens to us we just fight harder.

Wait a minute – you apparently didn’t pay attention when the mystic toilet was explained. It’s like the lottery. Are you going to get mad when you play the lottery for 10 years and get nothing? Are you going to get mad when someone buys their first ticket and wins? I never throw anything in the MF expecting anything but trash. If you had saved all of the money that you used buying rares or salvaged all of the rares that dropped for you into ectos and sold them you would have your 500 gold.

1. I don’t collect minis, use the mystic toilet and I have spent money in the gem store only on things like character/bag/bank slots. How exactly is this like facebook?

2.Raids are coming – hopefully without a gear treadmill.

3.Living story is garbage – I agree and completely ignore it.

4.Fractals are garbage – but I don’t have to play them and don’t have anything against the people who enjoy them. BTW ascended gear makes a HUGE difference when you finally manage to get all 5 pieces and I’m a little cheesed that it’s going to take so long to outfit my other 2 main toons let alone my alts.

5.If WvW went as the way you described it there is no way I would play. There is a huge difference between coordinated groups and fair weather groups. It sounds like you never found a good commander or a good 5 man group to run with.

6.This game does have flaws. Even people like me who really like the game can see that. I came to the conclusion within the first 2 months after release that this first year was pretty much an extended beta where they can test out what works and what doesn’t.

You apparently weren’t here at launch then. Groups of 5-20 bots running amok especially on the high end maps. Gold sellers spamming your in box 5+ times a day. Anet has done a pretty good job with the bots and gold sellers.

I’m no pro and I run solo about 75% of the time. If I wvw its about 10g a week and if I do strictly pve I make about 20g. This is after Wp and armor repairs. 15-25 hours a week. I don’t see a problem.

I agree with Dual. An L.A. commander with a fair weather pug will lose against way smaller numbers. A good commander with knowledgeable/organized players can smash bigger numbers. Roamers are absolutely necessary to a good team.

Its ok I to agree this match as been fun and the last couple of days has really pushed us as a server to work together. All I can say is with all the we had nothing to do with any alliance or there was no alliance NSP guys here I really hope you guys stick around another week. To the IOJ guys better luck next week maybe one day you’ll learn that an alliance really never helps your server in the end and now look the other server refuses to even remotely admit you had anything to do with their victory.

I’m more than willing to admit that the alliance the first half of the week helped. It brought us in some fair weather players (sometimes a really bad thing) and got us a nice juicy lead in points. That said I made it a point to hit IoJ in EB because of the trash talk last week. After the alliance fell apart I can honestly say that I rarely saw any red names other than DH. Good fights from both enemy servers. /salute

I totally agree, that’s how i meet the skilled players on other servers, and it just so happens that they are not in a zerg ball.

I believe it has to do with what class you play. I play an engineer and some classes I can mow over, others I can’t. 1v1 I have problems but 3v3 I do ok. Zerg ball I get tons of kills but I don’t really enjoy it – to each their own.

So much animosity over a game. I can’t speak for everyone but some of us just want some good fights. Oh well good luck and happy hunting to all 3 servers.

50-70% speed boost? What the flying monkeykitten do you need that sort of speed for? No mounts. Not ever

You are talking about a pay to win buff in case you don’t realize it. You would have to buy it if you play WvW to stay any sort of competitive.

NO MOUNTS – I just have to put that out there EVERY WEEK because there is another mount thread. If you care to know the reasons why go find last weeks mount thread. I would however go for arena combat with mounts ground based or flying.

The last 2 pages of this thread made me reconsider my opinion of IoJ.

There is an option to “tag up” or shut it off. It does potato me off that there are a lot of people cluttering up the map with their look at me excrement. There are uses for it in pve but honestly 1/2 of commanders that stand around in LA I have never seen in WvW EVER. The commanders I do follow don’t use it in pve and if there is already someone competent using it in battle they don’t use the tag. It needs to be at the minimum tied to achievement points or badges but the look at my takitten the map just to look at it garbage has to stop.

Your memory must be short Gw1 had lots of problems like skill balance, pathing, etc. You really care about E-bragging? I know I don’t. Skins are shallow in my opinion but if you want them I won’t look down on you but I care more about skill. It sounds to me like you need to design your own game and leave the players that like this one to their own devices.

I don’t get it – you don’t have to do the moa racing to get the achievement so what exactly is the problem.

There are a few good thieves in WvW but most are just trolls. A thief can just stealth and reset the fight. I have had to tell small groups multiple times to leave the thief alone. Unless he is killing your yaks your time is much better spent elsewhere.
