i would run cele or power, but I’ve not seen your build.

I run Rampagers armour with cele trinkets for wvw. it’s works just fine.

into it. provides a lot of sustain that warrior lacks, and does so in interesting and creative ways.

You know what I hate? Having a team full of no damage dealing bunkers who fail to win the caps and can’t push out the enemy team to gain the foothold back necessary to win.

It’s great having a single zerker berserker who can cut through the cheese and force down the enemy team with a little CC and some heavy burst pressure XD

Of course I don’t trust your average warrior to handle this job -_-u

I’d rather have zerker of any other class than warrior. give me DPS engi, DH, zerk rev, zerk druid, even a good daredevil. all of them have damage, CC, team support, and good personal sustain. warrior still has strong damage and good single target CC, but that’s all. that’s all if offers. why take it over a class that offers more?

I play damage builds on a lot of classes. not playing warrior doesn’t mean bunker. warrior just has awful personal sustain and needs a babysitter. why take it over another dps build?

I support smurfs tbh, and anet should too. I mean, you kinda need HoT for PvP so smurfs have to buy multiple accounts.

you can’t stop smurfs, so why waste your time hating on them. you will lose a lot. get over it or play in a premade. giving up control over your team members and team comp is not a great idea for 5v5 conquest, and often ends up with shallow frustrating games. limited player objective based complex RPG games are not that suited for solo queue. mobas only work as you have hardly any rotations, and splits are obvious.

Just b/c the class is better doesn’t mean the player is better with that class; and a month of practicing 1 class isn’t going to make up for the skill difference you have with a class you’ve been playing for 2 years.

I’ve played warrior since beta. I don’t get better results in PvP on DH and Druid because I’ve got more playtime on them, I hardly play them. I get it because they are really strong and warrior is really not.

oh, and don’t go say I’m bad- I used to carry with clerics and crusader’s hammer-shouts. and anyway my best results are on engineer/scrapper, unless I’m playing a low condi clear build vs condi. I’ve played engi since beta also, and I’d only say I’m marginally better at it than warrior but my warrior play cannot hold a candle to my engineer play right now. warrior just doesn’t have to tools you need for the current meta.

that’s why warrior needs a surprise, or you not to be paying attention to win- but these are not situations you can reliably create. it’s just such a sub par set of tools to work with.

poll by majority is innane. hiring devs that can see and fix the obvious game problems, and conferring with high level players in each game mode is obviously the way to go.

the devs and community play it by script every time. I mean gosh, look at the QQ posts we’ve been getting lately. people trying to demand pips back in threads, like for kitten . the community follows the Zeitgeist and QQs about how they follow it.

oh, I should add that post HoT I know very few people (people I know on TS) that actually play meta. everyone I know plays meta variations, or things we cooked up and tested in 1v1 arenas. I for one play no meta builds currently (I used to, I mean cele rifle homes) but not post HoT. it’s quite easy to make something strong with an elite spec.

not warrior. it’s a poor choice for the team

I’d be playing something with AOE damage, AOE support and mobility. so engineer, and occasionally DH with trapper runes. mesmer is of course an essential class for the game mode, probably best to take two.

So true. After a Warrior uses up all of his burst-survival gimmicks (Endure Pain, Shield Stance, dodges), he can’t come back from a burst that actually connects. Healing Signet’s active is a joke except for the six seconds of Resistance boon. The other healing skills are just garbage for sPvP, and Vigorous Shouts got devastated in the June 23rd patch. Warriors can’t rely on alternate healing methods (water fields, healing weapon skills) because they just don’t exist for the class. Warrior is the true “kill or be killed” class: if you don’t blast your enemy down with your initial burst combo, you are dead meat.

they are the opposite of medi trapper, which has a 10k heal on a 24sec cooldown and multiple other sources of healing. even if you eat the burst on medi trapper you can just heal it easily. as a warrior you have no hope.

they really need to buff lord big time, i can kill it in approx 20 seconds and thats on a fairly tanky build, a couple of high burst coming out of stealth could easily kill it real kitten ed quick

it needs to be more like a Lord from the new WvW BL. those have loads of skills and are tanky as heck. hard to 1v1 for sure.

who cares about meta though? I play no meta builds at all and I preorderd HoT. sure meta builds a great, but mine just feel better. remorseless druid isn’t meta but taht doesn’t stop it being excellent.

it’s still a great game, but powercreep, neglect and BDO English beta have got me started on the 180° ‘spiderman no more’ cover pose. I’ll stick around, but BDO will be taking my hand before long. ah, if only I could decide on a class. giant awakening looks incredible though, half iron man, half hulk.

5 far is an excellent split if you are a premade with a mesmer portal.

you win far instantly, then outnumber mid. easy.

killing the door breakers when they spawn and playing offense the rest of the time is great if your build is mobile. mobility/support/AOE damage those are what you want for stronghold. a strong early offense is the best way to go.

treb use is excellent regardless. it kills doorbreakers like no other.

5 far is a great split if you can pull it off

I like hammer on a point in PvP. for wvw, the rifle is still preferable.

both are good of course, and both work within the right build- but I feel for open field the rifle is better, especially for a speedy lil gank.

I’ve been playing on my Reaper for a little while and I noticed how unbeleiveably slow reapers are compared to a diamond skin ele who can heal faster, deal more damage, take less damage, and attack a million times faster.

Why do they even try. Why does Anet pretend they are serious about esports like at all? They clearly ride ele’s sausage factory all day long and just throw tons of damage, healing, and infinite amounts of utility in their class.

Just reminding myself that this game is never going to be a real esport lol.

Could be one of the best e-sports around if they added

• Better Balance to the classes
• PvP side of GW2 it’s own client (small download)
• Split out solo and premade queues
• Provides more queue options (e.g. checkbox for Deathmatch/court yard)
• Added at least two more MOBA maps and fixed the one they have now (e.g. what exactly are archers good for?)
• Added optional dueling in Heart of the Mist
• Added PvP (PvPvE) Adventure instances with leaderboards
• Gave us an in-game client spectate mode for past matches
• Better in game tutorials (pick a map and run a simulated game with NPCs)
• Simulated scenarios (e.g. select “Clock Tower capture Hard” and you’re placed immediately in a private instance where you are facing current meta scenarios)

Better tools to group players. Some ideas:

• Auto-team function… Click a button and the algorithm would grab similar players in Heart of the Mist and group you. Should be able to do this for 2-4 players. You can review the group and decide to kick someone or queue up.
• Ability to add categories/group by feature to friends list
• Allow players to share their stats, build, etc… easily with other players
• Build edit/save/load features
• Leaderboards by division
• Improve match making algorithm to consider when teams are running meta and near-meta builds.
• Allow any match to be recorded and played back later (can monetize this feature if need be)
• Division bsed In game spectatable auto-tournaments held monthly for top 8 premade teams in Sapphire (Tues),Ruby (Wed), Diamond (Thurs) and Legendary (Fri). Outside League play ranked system, it would just take the top 8 guilds for the month.

So that would be a start.

Rom’s druid build is amazing and definitely top tier.

The build on Meta battle no longer matches what Rom is playing.

^ this. mets battle is not the be all & end all. its often close minded & out of date. look at what strong, or top players are having success with, & take into account both team comps. some great builds are awful in some situations, & vise versa.

how does a normal pvp match voice chat log sounds like?
can share a bit ?

when you are on point as a team you call target, call CC, call stomps, call kills etc.

plus, if you know the build the player is running you can tell when they used skills. like, if a ranger has used their signet of stone, or if the rev has used infuse light. you can call that out on coms then adjust your team fight strategy accordingly.

when I play with my pal who mains mesmer often he will leave a portal at home, and I’ll cap home. if crossers come, I can call for that portal over coms. either for more numbers, or to escape to mid when I’m about to die.

it’s things like that. strategic plays.

also, if you 1v1 a lot in custom arenas and give each other feedback over coms you learn professions and what is killing you so much better. 1v1 with feedback is so nice. seriously it improved my play so much. sparring and training are so important.

sometimes I’ll just 1v1 for hours. just testing builds and play.
feedback is so valuable too, like I’ll be able to tell you what you could have done to win 1v1s. oh, one of the best things is when you have many people in the arena who take turns 1v1ing. so someone can spectate you when you fight and give you feedbacknon what you could have done.

it’s different if y’all are on coms and calling things out. real different

Now that I think about it, placing emphasis on a speedier, more bursty play style for warrior would actually be a step in the right direction. I was always somewhat disappointed that GS war didn’t have that samurai sort of feel. Precise, methodical, and honed strikes worthy of a battle hardened soldier.

If something like this were to be done, then a thief rework would be in order as well. Something along the lines of total 1v1 domination through timed interrupts, dodges and disables all culminating in a single death blow.

Of course, this would then step on vanilla mesmer’s toes, but then you could allow them to adopt a more manipulative play style, placing more emphasis on the flow of the fight as a whole. I feel chronomancer was meant to do this, but conquest just promotes so much bunker BS, skillful and entertaining to watch fights are so far and in between that it almost makes you feel like anet honestly believes this is what good PvP looks like.

it’s needs some ways to refill its health bar.

mending becoming a physical skill, so its effected by peak performance would rock. +10% healing per bar of adrenaline and 16sec CD would be great. adrenaline when attacked should be baseline too ofc. reverting the adrenaline nerf would be nice too, nice druids can keep AF out of combat.

fast hands is needs to be baseline.

a lot of warrior weapon skills need to be revamped. warrior needs more boons and debuffs. leaps need to be speed up. lots of utilutes need changes too.

there is a lot to do, and over at the warriors forum we have had a lot of gret suggestions.

In PvE: go for it.

In PvP: it depends on how much you know about GW2 already. If you’re asking to know what your first character should be, or if you relatively new to pvp, I would definitely advise you to play warrior. It’s fun, and relatively easy to pick up: since it’s relatively straight-forward: you will be able to rapidly focus on watching your foes’ animations, or on your positioning, which will you good reflexes.

If you’re already decent in pvp (over rank 60, I’d say), then you might find warrior a bit weak. Whatever you do, don’t queue in ranked with a warrior. You’ll just attract negativity.

warrior is hard and punishing in the current PvP meta. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t looking for a laugh.

Nerfs are in order. Thief and warrior are actually balanced, for the most part. Buffing them to bring them more in line with this ridiculous bunker meta is pointless, since that would do nothing to change the state of stale PvP.

if you cared to read my signature you’d know that I play predominantly scrapper in PvP. can’t see why I would be defending DH for my own benifit when I’m on an engineer. but you got emotional and accused me of self serving bias. nice one.

PS. you don’t even need to dodge them on engi. sometimes I facetank traps and then just heal myself back to 100% with a rocket charge combo. haha. easy easy easy.

I’m TIRED of this attitude against warriors. We’re doing the best we can with the tools we still have. If you don’t want us on your team, then quit, because we’re NOT going away.

Second, you can sit there and lecture me how to play my class, but I tell you this….I win some and I lose some. My win % is 50% and I’m now currently 7-0. And ONCE AGAIN, I say, yes I’m doing the best I can. You only get better when you challenge yourself, challenge your limits.

You play to have fun by making your team carry you. You push the work to your teammates and give them a hard time. They blame their loss right on you because you think it is funny.

dude. my main class for pvp was warrior. I dropped when HoT hit. i play it a bit in unranked, & 1v1 with it all the time, but I wouldn’t take it into ranked. ranked is serious. unranked is for goofing.

warrior does nothing for the team that matters & it can’t recover from damage. a warrior has to be carried in teamfights, because he cant heal that 12k trueshot, or that phase smash, or the 10k maul. he just can’t, so someone else has to heal him. we even saw warriors reliance on bunker guard pre HoT.

now everything else people are playing in the meta can burst heal, often AOE burst heal. what can a warrior do that a druid can’t, or that a revenant or scrapper cant? remember warrior is trash teir so even non meta builds from actually good elites will destroy it if played at the same skill level. there is no rational reason to dedicate one of your limited 5 team slots to such a bad class.

if fast hand was baseline & mending was a physical skill it would be a good build. it’s super hard to play, but the combos you can do are insane if you lock someone down.

warrior hammer is my favourite weapon in the game, well second to engineer hammer now.

i used to play cavalier shouts before specialisations then the build evolved into clerics shouts after warrior shouts were nerfed. it was still a great build though. it was my go to for carrying teams. i played it all the time. great support for the meta at the time, not now with tempest & druid. its just outclassed.

i know warrior like the back of my hand. the second character i made was a charr warrior (after a charr engineer). my first 80 was a warrior. i played almost exclusively warrior for a year in wvw. i love this class.

but its so bad. its so bad right now.

it has no healing, no boonspam, & too slow animations. it can YOLO you to death, but thats all. it’s inferior at every single thing a class can do. it has good cc, but you have a lot of cc in teams so who cares. warrior can’t even recover from spikes. it just cant.

pathetic. every other class in the meta can 100% heal easily. warrior cant even do it with a healing skill. smfh.

everyone needs to be ballanced to the level of core engi imo. scrapper could use a short CD increase on rocket charge & that would bring it in line w core engi.

warrior needs a rework, theif probably just needs to be bumped up to medium health pool. rev needs heavy nerfs, as does chrono, tempest etc. obviously there are other things ive missed, because i only play a few classes but ive always been pretty happy with core engi. its got nice build variety & performs well in a number of roles. most of its issues are either bugs, or related to poor grandmaster traits. it seems a good power level to ballance around, it feels goid to play & good to fight. its git defined strengths & weaknesses.

i dont make fun of ireno for nothing. that nonce created this skill. why? we will never know

Because you have to hold the captured point, that’s how all these bunker builds come to live. The current meta is extremely unhealthy for the game. As many players predict if you nerf one bunker build, another bunker build will come up and take its place, then it becomes a cycle, the problem isn’t bunkering. The problem is in the map design.
AND i’m extremely fed up with the current bunker meta.

problem is not bunkers, we had shoutbow, bunk guard & many other bunkers in the past. its just that boon spam & power creep have gone way too far.

double bunker, double damage, bruiser is a solid & fine team comp. but not if there is no variety in classes that can play those roles competitively.
