Soldier and Sentinel got basicaly same stats… they are both rarely played in competitive matches.
And Power damage isn’t countered by Toughness at all, its just a bit less effective but not countered… you still can focus fire on high toughness targets with some co-ordinated CCs and they are melted in seconds.
soldier amulet gets loads of play. soldiers reaper and engineer are still very common. both builds are significantly more tanky than that it marauders counterparts, without having that much more health. you notice high armour.
toughness does more than you think. obviously everyone will die to focus fire and stunlock, but in 2v2, 1v1 etc it can make a good deal of difference.
using an unlockable CC when they have the crystal shield up usually gets you the win. they are normally low as hell and you can kill them while they are reeling from the interrupt.

I know it’s been like this for 3+ years, but it’s still frustrating. I’ve had so many fights that could have been won easily if the pull was more reliable. magnet should be a high impact skill, but often it just bugs out
magnet is a frequently used, and almost essential part of engineer’s PvP kit. it’s shameful that anet has left pulls so broken for so long.

We paid for “Elite” specializations. Of course they are better, otherwise they wouldn’t be called “Elite”.
How many times must this be said for it to get through peoples thick skulls, elite specializations are NOT suppose to be better than the core ones despite the name. The game director Colin J. said it himself, they are suppose to give lasses different play styles that they could not get before (guardian with a viable long range weapon, engineer with a viable melee weapon ect).
By your logic the next expansion should bring in super elite specializations that will make the elite specializations obsolete and so on for every new expansion.
This whole mess could have been avoided if they called thees things something like ‘focused specializations or ’narrow specializations’ or ‘many stupid people thing this is suppose to always be slotted in every build specialization’ ,anything other than elite.
seems like further expansions will add more elite specs.
it also seems like they should be in a way better, as you can only take one elite. of course with only one elite now that seems irrelevant, but in the future that will be important.
regardless, for the two professions i play i dont feel elite specs are mandatory.
warrior is awful regardless of if you take berserker or not. s/d/d is absolutely competitive with berserker, if not superior.
in regard to engineer, scrapper is great but not for every build. power & cele builds will love the hammer, but for condi it’s a bad weapon. admittedly condi isn’t played much in pvp, but its still excellent for wvw roaming & shreks revs. still, the old nade builds still work well. scrapper is a good choice, but not essential imo. soldiers rifle is still very playable.
Berzerker/Warrior – This is the biggest one I see the Elite Spec being better than the base warrior, as it really seems to be, both from facing and playing.
I disagree 100%. Strength/Defense/Discipline Rampage warrior will wreck any Berserker provided the players are more or less equally skilled. Just take Signet of might and run rampage, berserker will fall before it can get to T3 adrenaline level.
This also highlights a major problem with the warrior regarding the class’ sustainability. 4 sec of endure pain on a 60 CD isn’t gonna help with the constant burst of some classes (or rather elite specs).

you can use boons to buff damage. cele makes great hybrid damage bruiser builds. that’s why people use it.

2 1/2 – 2 2/3 seconds stab on dodge and if they take Enhanced Bulwark it is 5 seconds.

Shiro heal isn’t bad. Low casttime, decent healing over time, free extra dmg. Little counterplay …

If you didnt know, Defiant stance has a cast time, Glint heal does not, Therefore you can interrupt defiant stance while you can’t with infused light.

Glint heal you or may not attack him but 90% of the time in a team fight you will still get some hits while it is active, your team might hit the rev too.

Whether you can interrupt it or not is irrelevant to the statement that glint heal is op because you can stand in fields and heal. Defiant stance can do that as well. I’m all for glint heal nerfs but arguments like that are stupid.
Why is it irrelevant? If you can successfully interrupt a heal, that is a big advantage to you.
This the reason why heals that have no cast time or barely or heals that cannot be interrupted, are super strong (withdraw, shelter, i.e)

CD reduction on toolkit is really strong and then you can have speedy kit for moving and prybar often. Also the vigor is not that bad even if i think you miss damage in anycase. With firearm infact you have more damage through IP and condition from range with eg… it is an heavy loss
keep inventions. the sustain and mobility from that line is super worth for cele.
I can help solve your disco floor problem right now. Turn post processing off and turn shaders to low in the graphics options. This game is one of those cases where turning graphics to high/ultra will actually make you blind from all the sparkles on the battlefield.
effect LOD helps a lot too. only need to go down to medium for shaders I think, but post processing has to go.
a capture control RPG will always end up with a lot of sustain builds in the meta, it’s just the nature of the gamemode.
if you swap B for S and the sneak gyro for Mortar its basically what I’ve been running. I’ve tested all three of the heals (AED no thanks) and they all bring different things to the table. the TB for the gyro is nice, nicer than the HT TB, but the boons on H are rally useful. it’s hard to choose tbh.

build requires a lot of combos and kit rotation. I did a lot of testing though, and its for sure the best scrapper build I’ve found. sustain is insane if you play it well. hit me up if you’re on NA. I’m getting home from work soon, so I can teach you tricks in TS if ya feel ya need em. build is baller tho, so much better than the meta build for scrapper.

If you think having no cast time on traps that CC and are unblockable and essentially allow you to spam, you REALLY need to rethink how logical you really are.
only test of faith is unblockable (and you have to walk thru the ring of swords). daze doesn’t stop you from dodgerolling.

This is incorrect. To be on par with other classes, you need to Camp a Kit and your main weapon.

Meant to suggest that a weapon kit and weapon could be used in tandem similar to how other classes use 2 weapons.
you don’t need to. cycling through multiple kits is much better. mortar 5 > Egun 4 > rocket charge is an excellent combo that uses two skills from different kits and one weapon skill. using kits, your weapon and the toolbelt as a collection of skills instead of separate weapons is a much better way to play.
other classes have the weapons separate and gated behind cooldowns. engineer can use it’s weapon and all of its kits and one singular tool, not just two tools that work in tandem.

I play this class to kit swap. less than two kits is just not enough skills for me.
been running 3kit with scrapper and its super strong, and super fun.
kit’s are such fun, and are so strong and varried. the playstyle of a kit engineer is my favourite thing in this game. sure, it took a while to get used to it- but I would never go back.

I have no issue with still playing regular engineer, and I don’t mind if it’s better than scrapper for pve DPS. scrapper is focused on personal sustain and brings that to pve builds that want it. the extra block and evades/tripple leap finisher make hammer worthwhile for any game mode.
So, in other words you have no issue with the complete standstill we’re at right now, where the engineer hasn’t evolved or changed at all for, what, three years?
We’re still running the kitten builds that started becoming popular in the freaking beta, back in early 2012. Why? Because it’s all we can do in order to keep up.
Yes, there’s been some polish, some fixes, but otherwise there’s not been any change at all.
Sure, we can do lots on our own in sPvP, but heck, my auto-attack chain crits for 2500, while my bloody revenant does the same for 5000, all the while stun-locking everything in her path.
I run a large variety of engineer builds in wvw and PvP, both with and without scrapper. I always run kits, and to be honest I don’t enjoy playing builds with less than two kits. that doesn’t stop me having variety and fun with my builds. static discharge, p/s condi, flamethrower, cele bombs, and now cele hammer. there are so many good builds out there, and now we have a new weapon and traitline- both of which are great.
it’s better to be an engineer than ever before. if you don’t feel like a bright young God on scrapper you need to change your build. it can go toe to toe with anything.
sure, pve DPS rotation builds are boring, but DPS rotation pve is boring so what do you expect?

Don’t forget revert Adrenaline nerfed. Considering how strong other classes has become i think if they revert Adrenaline nerfed, warrior will be back in contention.
we need adrenaline when attacked baseline too, plus a lot of animations (hammer esp) need to be sped up. 100b should be mobile too.
