no baseline fast hands means the trade offs when taking berserker have to be either: 5sec weapon swap, cleansing ire (& your whole sustain tree), or +20% damage. berserker just doesn’t give something that’s good enough to give one of those up.
sure gunflame is a cool suprise, but apart from WvW condi builds that’s all berserker has going for it.
i would rate it 4/10: nearly never worth using
berserker is good for rifle.
Pretty much you can use a bit weaker Kill shot every 4 sec.
And filling zerk mode bar takes around 2 sec.Since you need Fast hands and Cleansing Ire, that means you would give up on berserker’s power trait line.
And having +20% more damage thanks to that and Kill shot every 4 sec would be kind of ridiculous no?
Especially taking into account that Berserker activation does break a stun, remove 1 condition, grant 1 stack of stability, grant additional 15% attack speed and give 3 sec of Quickness every 15 seconds.
When traited of course.
It may not suit every build or melee builds, but if it comes to rifle, you sure can play a Sniping game.
Afterall, Rifle’s Burst skill has 1500 range.
it’s not just weaker kill shot, its weaker kill shot with -20% reduced damage also. that effects killshot and all of the rifle skills. defense strength berserker is much better than discipline, or at least it would be if we had fast hands. the combo would be gunflame arcing sear obvs, and it would be a great DPS build. however no fast hands kills warrior’s weapon synergy and screws with the playstyle.

i live in NZ & my ping varries from 200-5000. anything under 400 is playable imo, but you really want 250 or below.
scrapper traits & the function gyro rock. a very viable line for engineer imo.
try traiting stab for the gyro if you can’t feel the love. it’s clutch in pvp.
Warr = GS builds only. You need to play with GS to feel……
what?
….. where you launch allies from the treb.
Anet implement this ASAP.
I’ve wanted a circus cannon for wvw since launch. feel like that’s why we got fall damage traits at all.
I’ll take any circus cannon in any form, jus let me fire my bros.
love it. will be much better when initial HoT hype dies down and more people are playing wvw. most wvw people I know, which is a good chunk of the CD wvw community are working on their guilds, masteries and specialisations.
it’s gonna be killer when everyone’s back on. never have to defend bay again. woooooo
what does ‘feel like wvw’ even mean? sure feels like wvw’ when me and the guild roll out to cap towers and stomp thieves.
maybe it’s an office meme?
needs baseline fast hands to make the spec viable
only thing that’s given me and my pals trouble is the Druid. the binds + heals make for a great bunker. not op imo, just a mission to deal with.
but then again, I’m not a thief trying to 1v1 cele bruiser builds lol. would probably be floating in the salty sea of tears that is the theif forum if that were the case. still seeing a lot of thieves in EU tournament teams post HoT tho, so idk if it’s really that bad.
only surprise I had was a fresh air tempest… oh boy those overloads smart
(edited by choovanski.5462)
after a day of pvp i can say for sure i love this little pal. got me out of a lot of clutch situations. well worth traiting for stab.
i play cele scrapper in premades so, yeah I’m having a good time
m just running the same builds as pre HoT
your build might work for pve, but i wouldn’t run it.

currently the only hard counter to rev is engineer and mesmer moa transform and unlike mesmers engineer’s version sucks as it has a radius of something like 15-30 AKA the elixir bottle has to actually hit the target directly
but then how did i beat them with mortar elite?
maybe they were bad?
oh, no don’t say they were bad because if they are all bad then how come i only face bad players & you only face good players? maybe it’s all relative if you know what i mean ;-)also buddy, toss X has a decent radius. it’s not that hard to hit & you can get a group with it.
unless said reaper was AFK you would not have killed him with just a mortar elite and no i dont think i face good players as their build seems to require no skill to begin with
unless you meant a normal necro then sure those are much easier to fight
you are seriously confused dude. your post says ‘rev’ & you are complaining about revenant in the post before it. what’s this talk of necros?
when i say mortar elite I don’t mean that’s all i used, i just mean I’m not taking X. so I don’t have moa.

I am one that didn’t buy the expansion due to reasons. I have been reading the forums about how a lot of people are disappointed by it and how long it will take to open up the full elite spec.. now as I haven’t logged in and gong by the way PvP has always been set up ie: take a level 2 into PvP zone you have everything unlocked on traits etc etc, has this also been implemented for the elite specs for those that own the expansion?
In other words, if they haven’t unlocked all the content in masteries etc in PvE, is it all unlocked for them when they enter the PvP Lobby? If so.. then loooooooooool GG Anet I mean… *cough NCsoft cough *
Just want to know if I am wrong on this or not.
yeah dude. you can just play them in pvp. ive been jamming scrapper & I’ve yet to grind EotM to unlock it for wvw yet.
to everyone else: homes this is just they way expansions to video games are. they are not free. they come with stuff. GW2 is nice because you get leagues, stronghold, & the new WvW map for free. the rest you will have to pay for, just like every other game with an expansion ever.
is it p2w? eh, debatably. not all the specs are necessarily better people just have no idea how to fight them yet. but regardless, in games like CoH2 (a ww2 strategy game) you have to buy expansions to unlock new armies. you have to fight armies you may not own. the same goes for so many other games, only people who buy the paid expansion can play it.
i bought the game in beta because my friend convinced me to. i played it for ~3 years. I’m perfectly happy to pay for new subclasses & a new class. the new WvW map, leagues, & raiding for legendary armour are just bonuses.
i bought it because i thought it would be fun, & guess what it is.
so buy it if you want it dude.
don’t if you don’t.
don’t whine on the forum begging for anet to essentially give you $50 or lend you $50 for a month. grow up. it looks pathetic.
what CC from scrapper? the hammer only has AOE stun & that’s got a longer CD than overcharged shot, & rifle has an imob too. shield has a daze & an AOE knockback. so hammer actually has the least CC of any weapon for engineer.
scrapper has less CC, not more.
managed to roll them ez peez on engi
maybe you just need to have a play around on glint/shiro & learn the animations & cds.
the whole ‘cc > burst’ thing has been working fine on them for me.
yeah dude… cele is a stretch for scrapper. sinister has too much condi damage which is hard to make use of with hammer. perhaps a no hammer build could work, but I feel hammer is too power focused for a condi main stat build.
it floats above you when its off cd
best survivability, can now run at the buttlefield, copters much better then turrents, and etc.
the buttlefield

Wait, how did you get from 190 points missing to having to rush the entire new maps???
And how much total points do you need to unlock all traits and utilities minus the armor piece and rune crafting recipe that, according the the release notes, unlocks at the end of the reward track? Or do they actually unlock on top of the last trait/skill?
you’d know if you read the front page. 20 maguma skil challenges should get it. I’m gonna combo those with WvW.

time to unlock those trash gyros on three engineers. oh baby y’all hurtin me.
guess they just don’t want us to run it.
warrior needs fast hands for zerker to work. defense strength zerker will continue to be poor without it.
its no surprise that a class without weapon swap gets weapons with strong skills. warrior has the advantage of two weapon sets with a 5sec swap. engineer only gets the one weapon, & hammer has be good to compete with rifle.
the aftercasts were removed because hammer auto had less dps than rifle auto. that had to be changed.
warrior hammer has far more cc than engineer hammer, that only has an aoe daze. it’s a trade off, but don’t think either is better they just accomplish different things.
Uh, no.
They don’t have a weapon swap because they have kits, they can potentially have 5 extra sets of skills to swap to.
Except Engins also get a utility slot (the F1 to F4s) just like every other class so actually it’s worse than 5 extra skills per kit, it’s 6 and that’s also per slot. Anyways, believe it or not, with Scrapper bots and the new Scrapper Hammer, Engins have gone from one of the highest skill ceiling classes to probably the lowest. You get huge utility/damage/get out of jail free cards and an in-your-face smash weapon as well. Just remember that you need to take a ranged kit (you know, that wimpy grenade kit that no Engin ever uses).
Hint, do what ANet wants you to do, buy HoT and reroll to the new OP classes. It’ll be 6 months to a year before things get back to normal. Join the wagon train
you just sound like a salty noob
HoT is like engi O’Clock for me
I’ll still play some clerics shouts, but if they release a zealots amulet I’ll be playing a lot of warrior i think.
solid gameplay. jumping is fun.

anything should work tbh. just us TS & call mass & refuge.
you could even drag a necro along if ylu two can support him.
One of the best ways to deal with all the shiny glitter and sparkle effects from skills is still to turn off post-processing effects. The game looks arguably worse, but at least it doesn’t make your eyes bleed from all the flashing sparkle effects on screen in group fights.
I hope that one day they’ll add an option to turn off post-processing on just skill effects while keeping it on everything else. I’d like to have the graphics turned up without being blinded by sparkles in combat.
the dream
i run medium shaders & no post processing for pvp. need that visibility
if yall are so good you should form a team
my trick is just to be a better premade
doesn’t always work tho ;:-/
unblockable peck? seems legit
inb4 the permastealth condi ranger/thief/guard complaints
You’ll probably only see this stuff in solo queue. But it still wouldn’t be that great because the Ranger/Guard has just wasted 3 useful cooldowns to try to surprise you when the Thief could just use 1.
Thieves could use it but there are more useful utilities I believe. And with the expac launching, it’s pretty impossible for them to pick a trap over a stun break that gives you an opening on your target.
the trap build never leaves stealth. it will be interesting to see if it catches on, its kittened to fight. if you don’t have a reveal its pure luck.
kinda want perplex for berserker :-(
could have had such a joyful interruption of confusion
what kind of builds do you expect people to run?
low synergy, crappy builds?
i always try to run the most effective/unfair build i can, & you should too. cheese just means it’s a good build.
if you’re trouble is you cant counter blocks & procs at 25% hp then you just scrubby buddy. oh, just saw your complaints about rampage :-( now we all know what level you’re playing at…

That mode will be great in noobs vs noobs (wvw) but i cannot imagine using it in spvp.
if you’re talking about the mod it’s really nice for full melee characters. i run it almost exclusively for warrior.

mightyteapot runs teatime which has been really good for learning about each specialisation. something of that calibre would be nice.
swap offhand axe for shield & take the shield trait. offhand axe is pants, shield is the bees knees.
Try moving out of range when you’re immobilized/knocked down? Sure, that’s always worked wonderfully. 8k Whirling Wrath is easy to land if you want to.
That said, if you’re bringing downed health into it (which death logs usually do), then it is immensely misleading, since when you’re downed, you have no active defense, nor cleanse.
That said, death logs, especially with conditions, are terribly unhelpful for figuring out what really killed you. If you take hits doing the following:
6k direct, 1k burn
4k direct, 1.5k burn
4.5k direct, 900 burn
3k direct, 1k burn
6.5k direct
5k direct, 1k burn
2k direct, 1.3k burn
7k direct, 500 burnBurning will be shown at the top of the list with 7.2k damage. So that was the deadly part, right? Well, no, since the 36k direct damage was definitely a much larger contributor. But since no individual skill on the direct damage beat out the total of burning, burning is shown as the highest damage.
I like how you get it.
That’s why I don’t trust death logs. It combines the condition damage received and posts them in its generic form, instead of listing the source of condition from skill used
i.e. 2300 zealots flame, 930 purging flames, 4300 ring of fire, 3100 drakes breath 900 burning speed, 600 fan of fire etc, It will add all those up and list it as 12130 Burning.
Then someone will qq on the forum and say nerf burning even though the damage came for 3 classes through 6 skills.
Yeah those 3k burning ticks from 1 person must be my imagination.
It actually gets over 6k. From a single guard. In less than 3-5secs.
Stop walking back and forth over the purging flames border… just the other day I had a warrior get up to 17 stacks on himself almost entirely from stupidly running back and forth over it while trying to attack me.
i had a great moment with a burn guard on foefire mid. i was on my warrior & the burn guard threw down his PF. i just backed away from it facing him, & he just stood there trying to combo the field unsuccessfully with sceptre. after the duration finished he looked pretty sad. 100% waste of a cd if no one walks into it.
Dumb burn Guardian using scepter instead of greatsword and sword/torch.
you can run sceptre instead of main hand sword, but dropping GS is a foolish move i agree. it’s synergy with PF & VoJ is too good to give up.
Engi.
The reason? Grenades. Why? Because Grenade skills can miss without your opponent pressing the dodge button. And because slick shoes isn’t viable anymore, you can’t say Engi is an easy mode class because that would be ignorant.
Yeah sure Flamethrower isn’t hard to play but at least it has 10 million counterplays compared to Ele, Mesmer, Guard, Ranger, in which those four classes just spam defensive mechanics and reliable damage.
Ele just spams evades while dealing damage, it takes no skill. Thief D/P is just as hard. Non-GS Zerker Warrior is hard as well.
TL;DR Pick Engi.
People think shout warrior is difficult?
I think he is talking about zerker warrior that doesn’t equip GS.
But honestly I found that just unviable rather than being hard-to-play.
I disagree. you can drop GS for X/shield while keeping the hammer. take sword to make up for lost mobility or go axe for killer burst. ham axe/sh is slow, but the amount of cc & pressure the build puts out is nuts. plus you get that great 20sec cd 3sec block. i prefer having a shield than not.
sw/sh ham is still my go to set for full zerker warrior in wvw. even played some GS a/sh last night, but ended up going back to sw/sh ham.

ele, but i only ever gave s/f fresh air a go. needless to say I didn’t find it a very welcoming build, & i dont even think i have one match on ele.
probably depends on what you’re like. I could never get anywhere with ele.
A lot of eles say the same thing about engie. You should give d/d ele a chance, I know I live longer on ele than I do engie
ele has no ‘thump’, it’s playstyle just isn’t tactile enough. never could get engaged on the class. jammed some staff & s/f then mostly gave up on it.
ele is pretty rigid & it’s all about rotations. engineer is all about making up cool skill combos & juggling skill cooldowns. its a similar but very different playstyle. i find engineer fits how i would play instinctually more than ele, but maybe thats my 3+ years on the class talking hahaha.
not dying all game is a pretty common occurrence on my warrior, a little bit less so on engineer. scrapper with cele has crazy sustain & might.

defender runes
everyone else has suggested awesome amulets. mad keen for those too.
i think
there should be a hotjoin for only rank 1 – 30 players
ofc that still can make quite some difference between 1 and 30
but
it removes the TONS of mostly r70-80 players who really farm new unexperienced players in hotjoin nowadays
the high rank players stack on 1 team every match and just destroy the other team…new players cant even really learn their class… since they get instakilled 90% of the time… they cant even learn to counter
and they dont even try to learn often because they stop with PvP after getting so demoralised by this bad system in Hotjoinso i think this hotjoin for lowranked players only would be a nice thing
ofc veterans with alt accounts can still farm them but it would still reduce the amount of people who actually do that to new players a lot i think
this should exist tbh
still, gw2 has a lot of skills that you have to learn & use at a fast rate. it’s not a terribly accessible game for pvp. you can get killed so fast.
(edited by choovanski.5462)
most of the time i play the bunker for full or partial premades. occasionally somone else takes up the role, or i just get sick of warrior & play engineer. bunkers ate nearly always a must have. bruiser heavy teams can get away without them, but they are still good to have in teamfights. it’s just the way of rpg conquest, you need tankyness & support on point, so you basically need a bunker. it’s just the way of team games, it’s best if you plsy roles.
Second time I have to clarify what I already posted. I don’t mean that burn is a problem for TOP TEAM PVP… Mainly because they have conditions cleanse covered with their composition.
I have 800 games and play mostly solo. I don’t see burn as a real problem. It’s just currently good.
What I see as problem is that people want to play their favorite class with their favorite build and expect it to always work. If people would look at the teams and the map and maybe switch a utility accordingly there would be much less QQ. I often switch my char or a utility depending on what team I or the enemy has.
Yes, that is why I also play shoutheal warrior even if I prefer GS axe + shield due to my 2800 hours roaming on that build :‘( I would not mind if I had to play support once in a while, but sometimes it’s like 3 games in a row playing support.
You my friend just gave me a kitten good idea on the subject and I love you for that alone <3
I wish there was a role that you could chose to play. Support builds would probably have instant queue that’s for sure, but that is because they took the non selfish way. Props to them and would promote the forever forgotten support players. I would rather wait a bit more in order to get a matchup with a support when I truly want to play my full dps warrior. Otherwise, if I’m tired of waiting, I could alway check the case for to be the support role or DPS role and let the first role needed in a team to dictate my match making.
Dunno if that is even possible to implement, but I would love it
That fix would be my favorite one… What are your thoughts about solo queue and roles ready check?P.S. if my idea seems unclear, I can explain what I’m thinking about. A bit like a ready check when you queue for a Raid in a holy trinity mmo (DPS-Healer-Tank), except that over here there would only truly be bunker/support and dps? Just a wild thought ^^
i & other people have suggested this before. you really need one bunker, & one bruiser in the team. the ability to que with roles would be great even if it was occasionally abused.
