Are you on the same server as the rest of your guild, or are you on a different server and guested to do the Bounty with them? Not sure that it would make a difference, but could be a possibility.
Were you online and repping when they started the Mission? Or did you log on after they’d triggered the mission?
What you are describing sounds like what you’d expect to see if you weren’t a member of the guild (i.e. normal DE rewards, but not Guild Bounty rewards). That’s why I asked the above questions.
Never mind, I get it now. Totally blaming the being really tired. Thanks for the help!
I’m saying we are going to run two separate T1 Bounty events in the same week. The first should net us 15 Merits. My question is, will the second one net us any at all?
Gisei’s answer seems to say that you CAN add the merits from different events together, to a weekly maximum of 25. He stated "If you do Tier 1, then Tier 3, you will get 15 (from Tier 1) then 10 (from the Tier 3, which would normally be 25 but you can go no more than 25).
You indicated that the maximum is based on your first successful try – so, if we do a Tier 1 and succeed, you are saying we can’t get more than 15 that week.
That’s where I see the contradiction. Maybe it’s cause it’s late and I’m tired?
Has anyone tried running two Tier 1 Guild Bounty events in a week? Our guild spans the entire globe, so to give as many folks as possible a chance to participate, we will be doing 2 or more Guild Bounty events in a week.
Originally, we assumed the 15 Merits from the first run of a T1 Bounty would add to 10 Merits from a second run of a T1 Bounty (we knew we’d ‘lose’ 5 doing it that way, but didn’t worry that much about it).
However, now I’m wondering if you can’t stack two T1’s together to max. Anyone know the answer?
I’m also going with the assumption that a player who does T1 on Sunday, say, then joins us for a T2 on Wednesday will not get the Bounty reward the second time, since they’ve already done a Bounty event (albeit T1) in the same week?
The maximum weekly amount of Guild Merits that a guild can get from Guild bounties are equal to Guild Merits rewarded for the 1st successful try of the highest tiered Guild Mission, accordingly to the following equation : G.Merits = 10 + 5 x T (where T is the tier of the bounty)
But what this person is saying completely contradicts what you are saying…..
No. To get the full 25 for the week, you have to complete Tier 3. If you have done Tier 1, you get 15 merits. If you then go complete Tier 2, you will get 5 merits, totaling 20. If you then finish Tier 3, you’ll get another 5.
If you do Tier 1 then Tier 3, you will get 15, then 10. If you do Tier 2 then Tier 3, you will get 20, then 5.
Just tested with my guild less than an hour ago.
Does the Guild Bounty not need to be successful for players AND guilds to get the rewards?
Or, say we’re doing a 3 boss bounty but we only kill 2 in the timelimit. We fail as a Guild at the Bounty and so don’t earn our 20 merits, but would people who were in on the 2 kills get their ‘personal’ rewards even though the bounty failed?
It’s more than just guesting. It’s that the changes to the chests have made dragons ‘worthwhile’ in many peoples minds now, when they weren’t before. So YES, many of the people on your server will be doing dragon events more often now. And YES, many people will look on the timers and see what server is going to have the 2 chest events they are missing earlier than their home server, guest there, and that just adds to the map population.
Personally, I wish guesting worked like switching overflows does, in that someone actually ON that world would have to invite you to a party and you ‘join’ them on that world. If you aren’t both on the same map, you are obviously NOT there to play with them, so you (the guest) get booted.
After all, I’m only a guest if I’m invited somewhere. Guesting is supposed to be about friends. Think of it like this:
You invite me to your house for supper. I show up and come into your home. We eat. Later, after the meal is done, I leave and go to my home. There, I’ve been a guest at your house.
Guesting is not wandering down a street, looking in people’s windows to see who has supper ready to serve when you are hungry, and you walking in whenever you find something that appeals to you. Although no one knows who you are, you sit down at the table and help yourself. And because it’s not just YOU doing this but 20 other people, there might not be enough chairs or food for everyone who lives in the house to sit or eat. Eventually, you leave as soon as you are done.
To me, that’s not guesting lol.

To unlock Guild Puzzle, a Guild would have had to have bought Guild Bounty Unlock (30K infl + 3 day build), Arch VI (30K infl + 10 day build), run Guild Bounty Tier 3 10 times successfully to earn 250 merits, then Guild Puzzle Unlock (30K infl + 7 day build) then the Puzzle itself (200 infl + 1 day build).
Certainly, they could have boosted all of those builds…..and done nothing but run Bounties…so I guess it’s possible, but highly improbable that they would have had in excess of 990K influence to get it all that fast.
Not that this is much help, but I haven’t found a class yet I don’t enjoy playing. Admittedly, I haven’t made a warrior yet, but as a person who avoided melee roles in GW1, I’ve really enjoyed my Guardian, and even play melee on my Ranger and Ele, just as examples.
My personal suggestion is make a toon of a profession and give it a whirl. Buy the various weapons it can use, and test them all out. You’ll get a feeling fairly quickly if you like that profession or not (since the weapons are the fundamentals imho and utility skills and traits just make the profession better as opposed to making the profession).
You might be surprised at what you find you end up with! And good luck!
Think it’s awesome that people are not only having these good experiences with other players in game, but taking the time to talk about them on the forums.
Far to much of what gets posted is the ranting, and it makes it feel like it’s ALL negative.
Thank you to the OP for creating a place where people can post the GOOD of the game!
The gear boxes you can buy for laurels state “a rare or exotic piece” so that’s pretty clear that you won’t get ascended items from them.
I have a friend who got it from the Lyssa chest.
There’s MANY threads both for and against the new animation. Check there for other opinions.
Currently, when I refine base materials (like copper ore) into refined materials (like copper ingots) it takes the ores from stacks that I have in my bank as opposed to in my collectibles tab. This means that I don’t ‘free up space’ in my collectibles and can’t deposit to it from out in the world if I don’t notice while crafting. Please consider making crafting pull from the collectibles tab FIRST, then normal bank tabs if collectibles runs out.
Thanks for listening.
I love hearing someone stating what they like about the update, not just raging about what they don’t like without giving any kind of constructive feedback.
You don’t need other players to die, NPC’s rezzes count as well. As for the dodge, you need to time it so that you get the ‘evade’ message. If you are dodging and not getting the popup, you’re probably dodging too soon (e.g. before the key moment in the attack). Try dodging a bit later than you have been.
Also, agrroing a small group of critters is a fast way of getting this achievement, since it seems to be based on the number of attacks you successfully evade, not just how many times you actively dodge. In one dodge manouver, you can evade multiple attacks. My personal best so far was 4 evades on one dodge with about 8 critters around me. That adds up fast. Good luck!
I would love to see a rotation of monthlies just as we’ve seen a rotation of dailies. I think that many people would enjoy a break from WvW, as I would. Doesn’t mean you don’t like it, just that a change is as good as a rest.
Well put! I couldn’t agree with you more….. I enjoyed scrolling through the list and ’ooh’ing and ’aah’ing over the names.
DungeonDaughter is right – it was ALWAYS 30 jump puzzles discovered. 10 was just the first tier. 20 was the second, and 30 was the third and final tier.
And for the record, they said quite some time ago that January monthlies would not give out Laurels. Monthly laurel rewards start with the February monthlies.
I pulled a green speargun off a corpse of a drake just a few minutes ago. It should be in a chest, but wasn’t.
I definitely had it happen in the first update (when the dailies were still Aquatic kills and combos) but haven’t see it since the second.
While I respect your right to your opinion, personally I disagree with you. I found it irritating in the extreme to be in a dungeon, get into trouble, and have people on the team let me die and yell at me to RezRun.
Dungeons in particular are meant to be about cooperative play. The idea of letting members of your team die is not cooperative to me. And it’s not like they didn’t introduce this with Fractals, another example of how important it is to play as a team.
Your logic is flawed.
In your example you would still would have died, except now you will be stranded in limbo waiting for someone to rez you or your team to wipe.
The fact is you CAN’T force people, especially pugs to be good players. Penalizing dying in such a way not only penalizes the bad players that die but also their teammates who will have to fight on down one player.
I don’t believe my logic is ‘flawed’ for two reasons:
First, it’s my OPINION.
Second, I was referring to situations where I could have been rally’d by my party, but they chose NOT to, and allowed me to die and then forced me to rezrun.
Similar issues happen with Tequatl and Jormag. Because a waypoint is very nearby to the Tequatl fight, I’ve seen many people ignore players who are dying or dead, going with the “they can waypoint rez”, whereas with Jormag, it’s the norm for people to rally and/or rez because of the distance from the waypoint.
Again, I’m not saying you are WRONG in your thought….I’m just saying I have a different perspective, but I believe mine is just as valid as yours.
I have had chests pop up, but also was able to get Masterwork (Green items) off a corpse. Obviously a bit buggy, but from my read on the notes, it’s not a CHEST chest (as in the kind you get at the end of an event). It’s just a different way for you to get loot from kills, and your Magic Find should still apply. For those that don’t bother with ‘junk’ drops, it’s a visual way for you to know if it’s worth going back for your lootz or not.

Since Guild upgrades like the Guild Bank are bought with influence earned on a specific server, my guess is going to be that while you are guested on a different server, you would not be able to access THAT Guild Bank. However, if you are also in a Guild whose HOME server is the server you are visiting, it makes sense that you would be able to access THEIR Guild research items.
For example, my main guild is based on SBI. I have a secondary guild that is based on NS and I’m the only member of that guild on SBI. If I guest onto NS and rep my main guild, I should NOT be able to access the SBI guild’s Bank while on NS. However, if I rep the NS guild, it makes sense that I should be able to access their stuff only while I guest there.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see to be certain…..
There can be a huge difference in dye ‘vividness’ for lack of a better word, depending on what you dye. Even within the material categories (cloth, leather, and metal), the tier of the material can affect it too. My favourite dye for Tier 2 leather, for example, was Ancient Silver, but didn’t like it on Tier 3 leather and so on. I think this may be one reason there is such a great abundance of dye colours that look very similar in the dye window, but in actuality are quite different when ON armour.
Most common dyes are very cheap on the Trading Post so spend a few silver and get a palette of colours in the general shade you want, and then have fun trying them all out.
Just a hint for those not aware….even with guesting not in yet, it is possible to do cross-server dungeon runs. So say you are on SOR and invite me to your party. We all zone into our own server’s Plains of Ashford. If I, on SBI, go into the dungeon, you’ll get the pop-up inviting you to join my instance.
I do cross server dungeons with friends on Northern Shiverpeaks, works like a charm.
Good luck and have fun!
I completed mine the other night, was waiting on the F1 hint for engies. But it wasn’t bugged….I just hadn’t rolled one yet.
Good luck, from one achievement hound to others.
Where to start?
First, welcome to the game. Second, there are lots of great guilds out there, in fact there’s a whole thread here with info on Guilds. The Amazon Basin, which is the guild I’m in, is on Stormbluff Isle, and we are welcoming to new members regardless of experience. We are a family friendly guild that goes way back to GW1 Alpha testing, and our motto is “Play nice and show some class.” Check us out here
The Guild Wars 2 Wiki is also a great resource for many new players.
As for toons, you get 5 with your initial purchase of the game. You can buy additional character slots for 800 Gems. Gems are one of the in-game currencies, and the only one that works in the Gem Store. You can purchase gems with real money OR by trading in-game gold for them. Both of these transactions are done through the Gem Store, (O is the default hot key I believe).
All of the toons on your account stay on the server (or World) that your account belongs on. Until the 28th, server transfers are free, but there will be a Gem cost (amount unknown) after the 28th.
However, you can belong to more than one Guild – up to a maximum of 5 right now.
Hope that info helps, feel free to PM me in-game if you need something more.
Most of all, have fun!

FYI I took the pic of that on the walls of the CM’s office at ANet. It’s THEIR picture…
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
……
Thank you.
Living up to the rep, I see…..
Just to clarify – precursors can and do drop. I had a friend who got “Dusk” as a reward for completing the Lyssa event. However, as drops, they are extremely rare, as they should be. There are multiple routes you can go – you can run events in Orr, you can use the Mystic Forge, or you can play the game to earn gold and buy it off the TP. The last is the only ‘guaranteed’ way, involving no chance, just lots of determination.
There are actually 2 normal ori nodes on the map in addition to the 1 rich ori node. And I suspect the reason everyone is just ignoring the champ is related to the suspected bug re: champ drop rates that has been discussed in other threads, but I too wish people would not just run in and mine it then leave while others are fighting. However, short of changing the layout, this wont change as some people don’t focus on anything other than their own goals. Another alternative would be to change the map to make the node unavailable until the champ is dead…eg he spawns a chest with the node rewards, or it opens a door to a cave where the node is, etc etc.
Right now server transfers are free; however, you must wait 1 week to transfer again, as there is no option to pay and transfer faster.
ANet has said they will implement a server change fee in the future (paid in gems iirc) but it is not clear if the 1 week restriction will exist at that point or not.
I personally haven’t had any problems with this zone in terms of difficulty. If I’m playing smart, I can handle any enemy except the big Veterans and the Champions solo. If I pull too many of something, I can find myself in trouble, but I personally don’t think that’s a bad thing – for me, I LIKE having to think while I play as opposed to just wading through everything.
As for access, there is a path from the water level area around Owain’s back up to the Volcanic Plains… There’s a sloped area in between the island east of Owain’s and the mainland that you can get up.
Bugged on Stormbluff Isle.
Currently, it’s just luck of the draw if you are trying to transfer to a server that is highly populated. If you happen to check at just the right moment, you may luck out, and be able to switch.
I would love to see a queue system that allows you to queue for available space on a server, similar to the way you can queue for a WvW map.
Even when transfer costs are implemented, it could still work. Charge the fee for server transfer, even if the server of choice is full. Put the account into “queue” for that server. At anytime, a player could choose to ‘cancel’ their transfer request and get the gems back, at no charge.
This would also potentially open up the ability for the game to swap people between servers. For example, if I’m on Stormbluff and want to swap to Henge of Denravi, and there is someone on Henge who wants to swap to Stormbluff, the system could match that up and facilitate both transfers, whereas currently, one of those two would have to go to a different server, to open up those spaces.
