The vast majority of the game is antigrind, you can avoid grinding if you don’t want to, it just means you don’t get legendary skins.
Its the same as other games, except in those you have to grind for even exotics. It’s way less grindy than it could be.
The precursor random drop thing is an outlying event, pretty much everything else has rewards matching the challenge. I think the issue is more that there’s no single act really challenging enough to reward exotic straight away.
Either way, the scavenger hunt will solve the issue of pure luck, since there are only 2 ways to get precursors (drop / mf) Where with other exotics you can collect the parts in different ways.
All mmo forums are a hive of scum and villainy, I’ve played like 10 of them, always the same. The Fallen Earth one was probably the best, which if I remember correctly was one of the smaller games I played.
Just like any situation, the more people involved the lower the collective iq :p
I dunno about that. Any sub based game that requires you to have a sub to access the forums is usually better. (WoW obviously bucks against that, the games forums are bad.)
For instance, before Rift went F2P, those were easily the best and most constructive MMO forums I ever had the pleasure of using. So much optimism and so little flaming and whining. Even now the forums there have way less whining than most other games, but the F2P move has increased the whining exponentially of course.
A lot of people must of been waiting to try it because last night I had a 15 minute queue to get on haha. The forums of course will get worse now, because we have the freeloader hipster MMO crowd to deal with now. The good thing is the way their cash shop is set up makes me feel so much better about the way the game is headed. Very well thought out.
Back on topic: I think some MMO forums really do have constructive communities, and there is no reason GW2 cannot be one of them if we make an effort to do so.
It’s good because it’s low pop, not because you need a sub – people with money aren’t inherently less annoying than people without, and they don’t behave better if their account is at risk (because they have the money to replace it). Either way GW2 community is nice because the game doesn’t foster drama. (also anet will ban you very quickly if reported for being an arse)
I don’t log into GW2 and have people stealing my godkitten ore for example. If I want pvp I can get it, If I don’t I can avoid it. No loot stealing, no long waits for tanks etc. GW2 is a more relaxing game than many so I think it is reflected in the community.
But yeah my first statement was quite hyperbolic XD

Also gwguru is not an official forum, forums are only frequented by a small fraction of the total players of any mmo, and unofficial forums are even smaller.

Grounded is definitely a group synergy thing, like with a warrior or so :p
Well this is enlightening, I didn’t realise they nerfed the blind on the storm, no wonder my tanky spec wasn’t working as well
Tbh I think it’d be fixed if fire, air, water had combo fields, it’d bring the others up to the usefulness of earth.
Zenith we do have fury for the duration of our burst combos
Or if they make speccing into deep fire and air able to blow people up before they can kill us, it might change things :p
the issue with signets is more the lack of a stunbreak, cantrips are just too good at covering our weaknesses.
I dont kittening know..Focus is so messed up.
Why earth 5 has only 50 sec cd?Actually why such an op skill even exists?
Shield block is on a much lower cd. And it’s not OP on the focus.
Focus is for tanking ele :p
Probably due to the aura traits being more important than the auras sometimes…
It seems the sigil of intelligence was made for attune swapping, it’s a bit weak for a 10 second swap, same with sigil of doom, the poison seems just too little to not use every 5 seconds :p
I love hearing a good musician in town
There’s always something new to do (I work a lot so I can only consume the content about as fast as it’s made)
The combat system is very satisfying too.
I still don’t see why people have a problem with tabbing to a site, in a game with a /wiki command.
Will be nice when it’s ingame, if only so the people that don’t know about gw2lfg.net can get the same service.
I like orr, the temples are pretty great. More rewards will bring people back, people are lootwhores, it’s why there’s noone in southsun without the 200% mf buff :p
I hope anet fix guesting, you have to reguest every time you log in. ANNOYING.
Though the price is way less than in wow, where it was like a months sub fee for EACH CHARACTER T_T
at least in gw2 you can transfer infinity characters. Though it’d be nice to be able to make characters on different servers…
*shrug
I love the monster design from southsun, more of that please
I would like cheaper squad leader books, so you can work your way up to commander, or stay at the level best for your guild.
Left foot should be Sunrise and right foot should be Twilight. It would make a little sense.
only if you can dual wield them
I’ve played an mmo with 2 people on the dev team (rip MxO) , GW2 has way more.
They aren’t poisons they are wells. (necro wells do power damage, not condition)
Love the show
focus earth has condition removal outside of water.
There is never a reason to trash talk, it’s always reportable.
If it happens in real sports that’s no reason to have it here.
Game needs something called instability “unable to evade dodge or go invincible for x seconds”
Daze + Immobilise
Stun
I wish all these cool minigames were permanent additions to the possible pvp we could do. Dragon Ball rocks. Would be interesting to see something similar with the normal skills.
The devs from gw1 are probably just not on the current team, many things change over the years, especially employees. gw2 anet have to learn the lessons of gw1 all over again it seems
I freaking love this game, reminds me of the old unreal/quake days AFKers need to be removed though.
There’s no risk so why are you expecting a big reward. GW2 is easy.
How about change “Mortar” to “Arrow Cart” ?
Only if the Arrow Cart is an exact duplicate of WvW’s.
That would be a little too strong. Engineers would replace the Warrior Zerkers in dungeon runs
And this is bad how? :p
on topic, the problem isn’t being forced to take an elite, it’s that elites are worse than utilities. We should have 5 toolbelt slots and elites that are actually good, like in gw1.
It was rare to see someone with no elite even though the choice was there.
This is exactly why we need torch/pistol offhand
Focus is pretty great at what it does, I wouldn’t want to change it, but there is a space for a 600-900 range damage offhand.
I think it’d be nice as a beam, healing and damaging in a line. The amount is quite low so I don’t think it’d be too overpowered to make it hit 3-5 targets like other beams.
Just be careful what you wish for, if this was implemented it’d be like engi grenades, manual ground targeting for each shot
Gear with condition duration% would be nice for the supportive builds imo. We cant to control enemies and heal friends.
tbh why is there crit% but not cond% ? especially with that food that reduces it so much.
1-5 changes to each traitline in the game?! straps herself in This is going to be quite a ride lol.
Great patch, 100% positive, lufs 2 anet
lots of points in water and arcana is a good start until you learn how to dodge. You want the heal on water attune (and condition cleanse) and boon on attune (vigor on crit is always handy too) makes life so much easier.
I’ve seen videos of d/d being effective in gvg on youtube, but I have no idea if that was just because they were more skilled.
It’s evident that ANet want farming to be uniform across the world, so that you aren’t forced into a small area with mobs that are respawning faster than they are supposed to be.
Seems they want people to travel across a zone, maybe get involved in some events while farming stuff.
tbh Vayne, I think they want some semblance of rarity, if way more people have access to said skins they aren’t as attractive to some people.
I personally don’t care how many other people have skins I have, but I guess there’s some analytic somewhere that says people don’t want things other people might have.
shrug
They’re RNG dependent because ANet has become greedy beyond belief.
And they’re account bound because every time they add limited edition weapons that can be sold, the majority end up being hoarded and sold for ridiculous amounts of money long after the event, and it does serious damage to the economy.
Like SAB weapon skins..
38 gold for that greatsword. pft.
SAB skins are not limited edition, the SAB instance will be back, with all existing skins and content as well as new additions.
hmm they said the skins wouldn’t be coming back, that it’d be a new set. I wonder if they changed their minds ^^
And you can already use a controller for the game with some clever remapping and the action-mod.
trinity is not depth -_-
good idea maddoctor, more events that happen in different places would be cool (Lyssa is a great example) I like being able to see a distant battle while fighting to help them remotely.
The dragons would really benefit from some kind of logistics required to beat them, or at least them having a negative effect on people in the zone, like Incursions in EVE online, they cripple your income and gank your mining until defeated/they complete their objective.
imo just more of the same, more events will naturally flow together better and create stories and interesting dependencies. 1 example is the lost civilian escort event in southsun, which can bring you past veteran boss mobs which sometimes have to be cleared, but sometimes don’t.
Spies confirmed for WuvWuv
I have never used 6-0 in any game ever, who can move their hand that far XD
Very happy with my 2-extra-button gaming mouse and the Q E and R keys :p.
It’s not meant to be used only with your own conditions, it’d be too powerful if it was undodgeable.
I’m just glad anet have recognised the issue, so it’ll eventually be fixed. I’m very patient..
they don’t want to change a skill between different areas of the game unless they really have to, and this isn’t a skill issue, it’s a responsiveness issue, If double tapping heal always overcharged, it’d be fine, but you really have to spam it in my experience :/
Sometimes you don’t have conditions on you when you drop it, but I guess you’re only refering to pvp?
I’d just like it to be more responsive, I don’t like spamming buttons.
Engineers always rocked, we’ve been nerfed a few times but still very strong in pvp.
