In another year, I can bet that pretty much all of the remaining WvWvW community will be on a handful of servers because there it will suck less. Leagues 2.0 is just another bucket of perfume Anet is going to dump on WvWvW’s gangrened legs.
P.S People need to stop romanticizing mid tier servers. The one we transfered off had been getting weeks of awful PvDoor matchups and the third server just imploded.
Decoy, veil, mass invis have long CDs (if you let a slowpoke Mes get two stealths off one veil without taking serious damage for it then you’re bad). PU isn’t really the problem on its own. The whole chaos trait line is full of stuff that can make condi builds over the top when combined with certain other trait lines that are still well within reach. Not even counting the survivability of Staff weap and of course certain sigils/runes. Then the downside to clones(them being squishy) can turn into a major advantage.
Crazy combat mechanics aside, zerging is only really a problem when there is NO counter zerg. Then it’s just a typical PvE champ train, it’s even worse because it doesn’t just auto reset in a short bit of time so it becomes a ghost town until it’s back capped. GW2’s problem is that this happens at a pretty steady rate so eventually all the WvWvW action is going to be on a handful of servers.
…
Does this kind of thing happen a lot? I mean, it’s not like the different servers are in different time zones. Shouldn’t there be more people to deal with my server’s superzergs, or at least bless me with a good fight? …
In some cases, they might as well be in different timezones because the WvWvW population reflects just that. WvWvW’s design doesn’t take today’s global gaming community into consideration and after a year, you’re going to find that some people just can’t be bothered.
Your best bet is EotM, while it’s not very roamer/small team friendly(looking at you auto turrets), it can be fun picking off small groups/stragglers, just make sure you’re mobile/sneaky enough to lose the zerg that will eventually chase you across the map.
Sounds like a bad guild.
- Hashing out group builds and skill rotations has its time and place and pre-raid isn’kitten That’s a red flag lol.
- Any guild that cares about synergy, precision, positioning and all the other good stuff will probably care a lot about seeing what they can accomplish as a group. Random people who are not in the loop, or are on on uplevls or running selfish/crappy PvE builds tends to mess that up. I don’t blame guild groups for not tagging up.
No skins or rewards is going to make me want to ever waste my time:
- running yaks
- paying for upgrades
- running back and forth building siege
- watching any structure and sitting on an AC to make sure said siege isn’t wasted
- standing around in circles to activate some stupid and unnecessary buff
If these kinds of activities are what counts as WvWvWing then it can choke on kittens and die.
As fun as EotM can be at times, unless Anet makes drastic changes to WvWvW classic, the mode will continue to spiral, not every server is losing players to transfers and the game is only going to get older and less hyped.
24/7 scoring for a whole week, to the point where people are taking “shifts” commanding and then add all the siege building/refreshing, upgrade buying, tower hugging involved, yikes lol no thanks! WvWvW classic needs to amputate a couple limbs or die.
No third party programs are needed for enemies to get into Citadel. The most they can do is kill some of the merchants. They can’t damage you so kill them.
Honestly, I think this information should’ve beeen hidden from players until something reasonable is implemented. As it stands, I think the game will age and end up losing a significant portion of its WvWvW player base before this is reworked, if it happens. Kind of like the precursor scavenger hunt talks that died off.
Our guild had a blast in EotM last night! With the current state of scoring, and the tower humping/siege addicted culture it has spawned on some servers, the old maps can die a slow death for all I care.
Defense is already ridiculously easy in this game. A group of 5 defenders who know what they are doing can easily hold off a group of 25 for a long time.
That is true. And I am really getting tired of this topic.
If you don’t want to PvD, then don’t try to capture crap. Just go straight to a waypointed keep, draw them there, and then fight.
Man, you don’t have to PvD if you don’t want to.
The OP wasn’t saying he hates to PvDoor, he’s saying the enemy PvDoors.
Anyways, defenders are at a disadvantage.
-Defenders have to maintain siege(10 ppl building siege when 5 Omegas and 40 ppl are already hammering away is bad news for defending, assuming there are even supplies)
thus
-Defenders have to constantly scout
-Defenders have to assemble if they can make it there in time or at all
-Defending on walls is a joke
-Attackers just have to decide to huddle up and attack – they have zero other responsibilities
-Silly power creep in siege mastery while structures remain unchanged
If the attackers manage to fail against a small group, they’ll just resupply and come back while the small group has little or no supplies or smash something else that they cannot afford to defend. Essentially, the small group is delaying the inevitable.
Really? I thought it was the extra stats involved that made it appealing :P
The main problem I can see with duels is that extra spell effects will just annoy the people who’s computer cannot handle it and I suspect most people who want to dual want an audience also. The game is heavy enough as it is. If they implement something like that, then the option to turn off invites would also be necessary, it’s not cute to have level 80s spamming level 20s who are passing by with duel requests.
Our guild gets to wipe them for approximately 2 hours worth of raiding then they coagulate into a giant map blob. It’s like they want everybody out of their way because they’d rather fight doors than players. There’s a lot less fun to be had all around.

@ CEDWYN
There is a server TS that is active. Dragonbrand seems to have large PPT guild groups that tag up(they do this every night after our guild wipes them a few times) so they attract a staggering pug buffer. Blobbing isn’t a problem per se, it only becomes a problem when there is no “counter blob” and that is precisely the problem that EvilSantos is talking about. They just rush with Omegas and bodies or treb from a spot that we don’t have the bodies to take. Also, even when TS is used, the chance that a random group of people will have synergized gear/builds is unlikely. Guild groups must practice precision to zerg bust, I don’t know why you expect this from pug groups.
TL;DR
(Smaller pug group + siege + laughable state of wall defense) < (Larger pug group + Guild group + Guild Group + Guild Group + siege)
———————————-
Tier 4 is death for as long as Dragonbrand continue to be there.
Honestly, when GW2 gets released in China, they should just move SoS and DB to a new Asian bracket with 1/4/7/10 Chinese servers and merge Kaineng/Devonas on NA.
Our N/A is doing quite well now.
Isn’t that like a race car driver saying he’s doing well even when he’s the only one on the track?
….
However, like PvE, if you care enough and take the time to fill out and send an email to support (with supporting screenshots, video, anything that will help provide conclusive information), support tends to take those seriously.
…..
Emphasis mine. This has not been my experience.
I think this game has a lot fewer hacks and exploits than most people think, generally better than a lot of other games. Most hacks/exploits you do encounter are trivial in nature and have little impact upon the game as a whole.
Uhhh…
Super speed
mouse click teleporting and an anti death variant(teleport when health gets low)
walking through geometry
seeing through geometry
skill cooldown
endurance regen
super zoom
flying
super jump
walking up walls
Etc etc, people have posted videos showing all this.
These can have a serious impact on everyone, from the solo/small group roamers to the upgrader/yak runner/ siege builder and maintainer/PPT chaser and people have been complaining about this for pretty much the entire life of this game. The speed, jump and teleport ones seem to be the most common, since they’re adjustable, you can miss it if you’re not paying attention or experienced. I’ve been seeing fishy cooldowns and dodge access a bit more frequently now though.
I’m on Borlis Pass and there’s a notable drop in participation, everyone seems to be pretty tired because any matchup envolving Dragonbrand is straight up PvDoor and we’ve been facing them for weeks. Plus, our guild raid starts well into the evening(server time), we get a few fun fights and a lot of bags. The magic hour comes, some people go to bed and like clockwork, the enemy guild groups pull pugs and turn into a giant, fps killing, open field siege addicted, map blob. Fun is over at that point and we leave them to their PvDooring. This happens every single night. At this rate, I don’t see this mode holding up in the long run and quite frankly, it would be all Anet’s fault.
I’m with Spicyhash on this.
What I want to know though is what recorder and compression settings you’re using because Youtube always crushes my stuff into crinkled garbage :T
Downed state is O.K in small battles, if you’re in a 5v7 squabble and get focused it can add to the fight but in “epic” battles it’s a crutch for the side with the most people. Upwards of 20 players it starts getting ridiculous and in a 60 man zerg, well you can even be glassy and sloppy because a rally is pretty much guaranteed (plus the 5 target AoE limit helps). The fact that downed skills are not balanced between the classes in a whole other issue.
“Scouts” you mean some poor sob sitting around watching for any possible enemy movement and occasionally refreshing siege because if someone doesn’t pay attention for 10 mins it could be gone? I find it sad that people think this is acceptable gameplay.
Scouts often don’t need to just sit in a keep and refresh. Scouts run around the borders of your land killing solos or causing havoc to enemy supply trains. What you want to happen in terms of refresh is to have every time someone dies they refresh siege on the way to commander tag because chances are the fight they were just killed in has already ended.
A scout doesn’t camp in the tower watching for any golems or zergs they should spot the Zerg way BEFORE it even hits a tower. A scout is effectively a roaming solo.
Yay, if that’s your experience and your maps are blanketed by informative allies regularly but roamers I know don’t give two quaggans about PPT and structures in general and are too busy either avoiding the zerg or picking off it’s stragglers. I have known several players who hop from structure to structure, building and refreshing siege, who seem compelled to babysit them because they spent money arming and upgrading these structures(this is not limited to keeps). They end up just waiting, waiting and waiting to finally get to play the siege game(something they can miss if they go make themselves a sandwich or take a 5 min phone call). I think Anet needs to sack up and make some major changes.
I will defend the system as it exists because you need to be able to see the account name to report hackers.
I guess you could remove cross-server whispers entirely leaving party invites as the only means of communication, but the system as it currently stands seems less broken than any other alternative.
How are those reports working out for ya? lol :P I thought that for a brief second then remembered that nothing gets done about hackers anyway.
Just let it be open world and take away the scoreboard because it shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Let people play with their ACs and their creepy lonely backstab thieves. PPT is a joke and only exposes naive game design.

Yes it’s also about time zones, if you have a server with mostly players from x timezone fighting another with a lot of players from another side of the planet then it will create population disparities. How can it not? It is a factor, just not the only one.
If this was only open world PvP with no scoreboard or ranks(whatever the kitten that really means) then I think less people would care. Even the people who don’t care about PPT get annoyed when there’s never a waypoint to be found. It’s not about nationality, it’s about dumb game design.
I know this post is all in good humor but the sad thing is that Anet knowing this would be a global community, decided to go ahead and design WvWvW the way they did.
P.S
Wanting balance in a game is not being entitled, it’s being reasonable. Can’t blame players for Anet’s failure.
I’d say yeah but it would just be another aspect of the game for 3rd party coders to exploit.
WvW should be fair
Why? PvP is fair and players have voted with there feet preferring the inbalance but more interesting WvW…
I believe that’s due to the fact that WvWvW is as close to open world PvP and even outright griefing as GW2 is going to get. The people who often complain about imbalances are the people trying to play the game for points. Those complaints are totally legitimate.
Scoring four maps on a global game 24/7 was a real bad idea.
That’s funny you should say that since I have video(s).
Then report him to Anet then. He deserves the ban hammer if its true.
That’s funny you should say that since I’ve done that too lols.
That’s funny you should say that since I have video(s).
Maybe one of the reason why DB is leading in PPT during oceanic time is because of our charr engineer commander in EBG. I’m quite amazed how he turned db’s random pugs and elite trolls into some kind of a militia.
The white Charr Engy(not going to put the guild tag on blast) who speed hacks his kittens off? LOL yeah he’s legit.
It’s one of the best things of wvw, punishes dumb karma trains who rush on to next keep without securing what they took.
It doesn’t punish karma trains in the slightest, just more stuff for them to back cap. They’re already karma training, which means they don’t care.
Delete this message again if you want. I’m still not grinding for anything in GW2.
Offensive abilities are spammy and out of control in GW2 period.
High condition pressure (trait to remove it, rune to decrease/remove, sigil to remove it, eat food to decrease it, go kittens deep to keep condi at bay! Now you’re another Stepford wife. Happy? Don’t want to do that? Run in a sizable group that does!)
Insane burst damage (Stacked toughness? Too bad, you’re still getting slammed for 8k+)
Immobalize stacking (With all the conditions being sloshed around already, Anet thinks that being a sitting duck is fun)
Torment condition (Really? Design a high mobility combat system ..aaand punish people for moving! Brilliant!) Torment has no place in GW2
All this mixed in with hp/defensive skill cooldown disparities and healing power being a bad joke makes me wonder where it’s all heading to be honest.
BP have the biggest mouths I have ever seen.
Go back to the dumpster where you guys belong. You’re too busy sitting in it.
Says the person who sat in it for 13+ weeks.
You’re not bitter at all!
Lawls
Come on, gimme one more page of alliance denial.
Hey, hey, you stumbled to the barn with Ebay, she looked good then, don’t front like you don’t know her now.
Oh, I hate quoting myself but here goes.
Hey, hey, you stumbled to the barn with Ebay, she looked good then, don’t front like you don’t know her now.
How about you pan out and show all the maps next time.
There is no alliace, Ebay defends better, so BP is an easier source of points. That’s all you’re seeing.
ROFL
And they say sarcasm doesn’t translate well on forums.
Pff like there should’ve even have been a season one lawl.
#badgamedesign
Wow, how is a thread this juicy allowed on here? _
You know none of you are going to quit over a skin, I’m sure many here already spent real money on it. You’re going to log back in like always and the beat will go on as intended after all the forum rage dies down.
The bare fact that the entire BL map and even SM is blue screams PvDoor, come on man, doesn’t even make for entertaining trash talk :T
But this sums up this matchup and why this thread deader than disco. Where did the trolls go?
Local troll here. This thread is dead from a troll point of view simply because of how bad bp and CD are in the open field. I’ve had countless 1v1234 fights and won easy. Not even worth recording. Let alone boasting about on the forums.
Although it is cute how bp/CD go back and forth on who pvdoors who. I lol’d..
Also do yourself a favor. Don’t msg me for a duel. You’ll get embarrassed.
Ty
That is all.
See, this is what this thread needs, over the top statements that are a subtle as a bull in a china shop. Troll on good sir, troll on
I find Orr to be slightly annoying now, at best. Old Orr maps were from hell with the insane mob density and crazy amounts of CCs. I still think Risen Acolytes have ridiculous aggro and reset range though lol. The last time I completed Orr was on a perma stealth kittenbag thief so it was pretty easy.

o.O The white knights are in short supply on this thread. What happened, did they become bitter too or just tired? lol
I think the intersection of two things bit GW2 in the kitten here.
1. Anet wanted a mainstream MMO and a bigger piece of the pie
2. The niche ideals that made GW1 awesome wouldn’t allow them that piece of pie.
They strayed from the game’s advertised direction once they realized this(or was this intended?), it turned into an odd mash-up of ideas and a lot players are tired of the continuing corporate double speak.
I play multiple characters, and I don’t want to keep gearing them up. I want to log in and fight against other groups of people with my guildmates. Stat chasing sucks kittens.
Just putting this out there. I’ve sent video evidence to Anet, it’s been a few weeks and not even a confirmation email back. Cheaters still playing the game as usual. Do not waste your time recording/encoding/uploading or even spend money buying software for this.
Play whatever class you want and find a guild of people who don’t take this game that seriously and just want to hang out and have fun. That seriously sounds like a kitteny guild. And seriously, who doesn’t want Necro condi/boon corruption and Ele CCs and fields?
