New trick consumable: Siege Disabler that disables enemy siege for 45 seconds and golems for 20 seconds. Cost of 10 supply and a 1200 range. That is the new defensive/offensive trap for the feature pack. Stops Rams/AC/Golem for a good ammount of time at least until supply runs out or you run out of traps.
It gets a little more complicated than that. You can go to EotM, for example, and take supply from there right back to regular WvW. Defenders can port in every 3 minutes to a waypointed keep under attack with inventories full of siege disablers and shut down any rams, catapults, or golems indefinitely. Defense runs out and kills everyone.
On the counter side, build 10 omegas and have an entire zerg load up on siege disablers, they don’t even need to get close to shut down an entire structure’s defensive siege inedefinitely. Golems walk in and nuke everything and everyone in sight.
And the third option: complete stalemate. Infantry beats down the doors by hand, defense rushes everyone outside until there’s nobody left, one side or the other.
It sounds like insanity.
I almost laughed up a lung reading this as this exactly what ran through my head.
buy colored tags…..wow, that is just rude and makes no sense, so this idea has to be a joke.
Big mistake on their part. Given how they’ve soured their relationship with the WvW community, the better option would have been to allow us to choose what color we want when we want without having to pay extra gold for it. A fence mending gesture, if you will.
Then they should add the ability to change the icon used for the tag. Make that the means of monetizing the tags by putting it on the gem store (“This week only in the gem store: 20% off the pink Quaggan commander tag icon! Get YOUR’s today!!!”).
If they were a little more creative with their monetization schemes, they wouldn’t have to resort to nickle-and-diming us for the commander tags. Instead, give a freebie, generate good will, then add in a gem store purchase tied to the freebie and watch as players flock to buy it. It’s not a pay-to-win; it’s purely cosmetic.
I have to wait and see but if players have to purchase additional colors then …yeah that’s a huge middle finger, especially if no functionality was added to the commander squad system(private raids, more squad info etc).
I’m with you on the gem shop tag skins, I’m sure the Quaggan tag or the Super Adventure Box or Gods of Tyria or even a golden loot bag themed tag would sell, GW2 has a deep pool of skin ideas in general. They could even sell siege skins using some of the above themes that you can activate like finishers. Would be hilarious watching a Super Adventure Box Golem rush.
Bring condi reduction food , healing signet and a greatsword and see previous comment lol.
Where’s Lordkrall?
Can’t blame the guy, event the best politicians would avoid trying to defend against all that is being said here.
Ahh he’s probably hibernating til this blows over lol. Anet, you done messed up!
In all seriousness though, I hope management sees this thread and takes note on how their goodwill among the WvWvW playerbase has gone down the kittener. We can say “Hey it’s summer so there will be less people playing.” This may be true but with how stagnant the mode has been, whatever players come back probably will not be staying long. So WvWvW’s problems can’t be danced around much longer.
This whole thing is just comedy.
“Hey we want your videos …by next Tuesday!” lol. Even if Anet didn’t sour the relationship with WvWvW players this would still seem odd, it’s as if some other source fell through and this was a last minute way to get some footage. In Anet’s defense, I’m sure there are still some people in there who care, it’s just that their hands are tied.
Does anybody buy those ridiculous gem shop extractors?
1. The map is “pretty” but as someone who is more about good fights, its a disaster, its a web of way too many choke points, platforms riddled with LoS and fall damage issues and cheesy NPC interference (those ridiculous auto turrets, movement decrease buff etc). Even for those who want to play the siege aspect of the mode, it’s horrible.
2. If this was attractive to guild groups, I’d go more often since it meant fighting organized forces with other organized forces. It would be the same thing as we do now on classic maps since we hang in our own TS channel and pm/map chat whatever info is relevant. Some of those people end up on your friendslist and the following week you can send them pms, “hey we’re in eotm, get in here” or “you’re going down <3” depending on the colors. Things would stay fresher, longer, at least for me.
Be aware many posts have been deleted from this thread and infracted. So keep it upbeat and rosy guys!
This is a wonderful idea, I hope they put together a wonderful montage of all the videos and showcase how great wvw is, how great it’s been developed and what a bright future with many changes just around the corner there will be!!
I’m rosy and cheery right there with ya! Let’s show potential new players the the vigorous, evolving and healthy mode that is WvWvW!
I hope they realize that threatening players instead of using standard archiving was a mistake. This thread will roll off the first couple pages and this community management blunder will be buried but more irreversible damage has been done.
The bulk of the remaining WvWvW playerbase is draining into a handful of servers because of the very glaring issues with the mode. Over the last few months they’ve made changes to merchants, lessened the bodies needed for breakout and fixed a bugged siege skill whoopdikitteningdoo. If these are the results I can expect after Anet’s long periods of silence then I should probably move on.
Ideally, a commander should drop all siege in the first place, then he/she has control to kick anyone off if needed.
Then the commander switches maps and back and loses rights to whatever siege they dropped.
Omg get better bags already! :P
It’s not necessary to drop an ETA or even go into any detail but Anet can still communicate with the community, hint hint we didn’t even know if anything was in the works or if there is even a team. What does that tell you? I wonder if they realize that whatever they produce after all the silence will need to be impressive or what’s left of the WvWvW player base might just leave. Or maybe that’s the problem, whatever is in the works is probably nothing to write home about. I’m hoping I’m wrong because I enjoy WvWvW but I’m not hopeful because I see symptoms of deep rooted management issues.
It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. I know the necroing highlights Anet’s lack of communication and just generally makes it look bad but how about archiving inactive threads instead of threatening to punish users?
It seems like roaming solo is a dying art. I can’t recall the last time I actually met an enemy player roaming around the battlefield by himself.
I see plenty of roamers though…in packs of 2, 3…5. It seems like everyone has given up on fair fights and prefers either running or completely overwhelming their enemies.
A shame really since solo-roaming used to be kind of fun. But now it feels like nobody dares leave the house without an easy backup.
I think the game in general is at a point where it’s stale enough to bore solo players since it’s the same few classes out there with the same couple builds. It’s full of people who prefer easy wins instead of going blow for blow and finding a challenge. It’s become a pool of hot rancid cheese.
Deso arent just unfriendly to low levels. I am level 80 and today, when i tagged their watergate on EB, they sent lots of players and just killed me.
LOL nice touch.
Oddly enough, I think it’s still part of the character creation options.
What has become of our dearest Devon Carver?
Oh Ragnar, I’ll give you about 3 or so more posts before you realize what you got sucked into lol.
Was it an untagged guild group? If so then yeah…
I think the rally mechanic can stay(it does help out the smaller group sometimes) but fix it so you don’t just sneeze on someone and get a free revive, make it require a significant percentage of damage. And remove hard rezzing while in combat.
@Sirbeaumerdier
Slap on the false dichotomy label if you want since there’s always the option to whine. But since we’re talking facts and reality and such, it remains that you cannot do anything to morph the priorities of others to match your own hence my suggestion of getting in where you fit in. Negative impact on what exactly? Let me guess, PPT. You’re operating under the assumption that everybody should care about it and those who do are somehow more important and non PPT related activities are somehow less than. That’s your main gripe. I’m saying it again, it’s selfish and short of breaking the TOS, people can do whatever they want, you are no more important than the guys doing the Dolyak parade or the twelve people hanging around a box of fun while others duel nearby, please deal with that.
So your ok with a servers guild (some are 40+ raiding force guilds) hosting these PvP events on their own servers home map thus blocking the rest of the server from being able to play? Who’s being selfish now? I’m sure this was not the intention when this event occured and they probably would try it elsewhere if they could next time but who’s the one really being selfish?
I thought I made that clear. Yes, queues aren’t fun but why get upset about it, it’s first come, first served just wait your turn to play. They paid like everybody else and they don’t owe anybody anything. The very second you start thinking people are taking up space or “blocking” anyone simply because they are on the map and have removed themselves from your approved activities is the moment that you’ve just face planted into the entitled zone. And arguing semantics about WvWvW not being a PvP zone just looks foolish as it’s a low grade derailment.
@Sirbeaumerdier
We’re comparing WvWvW to an actual sport now, with rules, regulations, controlled teams and arenas and /drumroll …balance? Please don’t. And then you go on to compare people actively sabotaging other players’ activities to players simply being on 24/7 opened map? Come on now.
@Sirbeaumerdier

…Is it something in the water?
I don’t mind them playing how the hell they want as long as they play for the kitten puck (war score). What is so kitten confusing about it that it has to be told and retold in every possible ways?
Aaaand this is where you’re whole argument falls flat. You keep going on about logic but are unable to see the direct contradiction in what you’re touting. You have a choice, transfer to a server where PPT is the utmost goal or deal with the fact that you can’t change what people care about. Trying to act like others are “taking up space” and deliberately obstructing your fun by doing their own thing that does not-does not, let me say it again, does not involve you and and likening it to situations where people directly set out to interfere in others’ activities(via a gvg troll guild) is self important to say the least.
I honestly think that you guys are just overreacting to this. GvGing is only about 15-25 people max on a server. They don’t take up a full map queue. Where the other 60-90 people on the bl are not the GvG guilds fault, so stop blaming it on them.
Apparently you haven’t seen the youtube videos of masses of 35-40 on each side – making all other play on any map almost impossible.
That comment just shows how little you know about the GvG scene. 35-40 on each side? Are you for real? You might be able to show me one video, and that would probably be the only time it’s happened. It’s good to know that the people who are against GvG’s, don’t know a thing about it.
Yeah we know how GvG’s work, their whole guilds rolls down there, 20 of them fight the other 20 watch and message their friends to come watch
That’s still less than half of the player cap per side. I have yet to see a valid issue presented by anybody here.
Honestly I just think they should just mind their own business. Short of breaking the rules I don’t see why anyone is getting huffy puffy about what ppl do for fun in WvWVW.
So wait, they’re ruining your gameplay, by not playing with you? They’re not hampering you, they just choose to exclude themselves from activities you care about.
No and no.
1) They aren’t ruining my game play, they might ruin the game play of like minded people like me for whom the game was designed as opposed to say, people who would like to make emote contest in SM just because…
2) They ARE hampering others on the server if they take space. Sorry, but that is reality. If they were excluding themselves they wouldn’t be on the server.
I’ve got the feeling all I say will be badly twisted to avoid the real issue.
That’s utter nonsense. You and “like minded people” don’t get to decide who is taking up space. And I said they were excluding themselves from activities you find fun.
Nothing is being twisted so don’t back peddle now. The real issue here is you don’t like it because they’re not playing for PPT.
So wait, they’re ruining your gameplay, by not playing with you? They’re not hampering you, they just choose to exclude themselves from activities you care about.
Have you considered the fact that it’s players like you who like to attack people just trying to get through the JP that’s discouraging them from coming in the first place?
It’s in a PvP zone….
I know a lot of guilds like to run without a tag so they can gvg and have fun as a guild in general, i get that, and have no problem with it.
But when its a major guild are you’re the primary zerg in that borderland, would it kill you to stop being such excluding kittens? Throwing on a commander tag gets you all the “pubbies,” yes, but the pug people might just play this game casually and can still be very skilled at wvw. So for the good of your server, just throw a kitten tag on man!
(This forum seems to change every explicit word to kitten…)
Buy a tag and see how much you like working with fairweather rally bait who aren’t even in voice comms.
Just because Anet didn’t create it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, that is a very foolish thing to say. Most of these wvw guilds of yours are GvG guilds, especially in EU. Whether or not you consider it real or not, it is easily one of the most popular things in the pvp scene of GW2.
Yes, it exists… but it’s self created or players created. Typically, those guilds who only concentrates on GvG are either dying or smaller guilds. They lost players or drama within happens so they had to reinvent themselves. In EU, they are somewhat different, but in most cases they eventually fade away since Anet had no intentions of supporting them. As for being popular, of course it is. Sometimes it’s fun to trade kills for loot.
Emphasis mine. You could have just said you like to zerg with blobby guilds and be done with it dude, you would have at least still seemed reasonable and slightly less ignorant lol.
The thing is, even when there are known gankers, there often people skilled enough and willing to kill them and protect “lowbies”(most likely for a reward or because they remember getting ganked). It creates a kind of ecosystem. However, the current implementation of stealth (+ initiative system) could prove to be even more problematic than on the WvWvW maps. So that’s also something to consider.
@ Raf
Everything you said happens in WvWvW already. There are known gank squads, 1-2 people will get chased down by 8-9. They hang outside keeps, they kill uplevls, they emote spam, they corpse jump, they throw shame rams. Yet people still log in to look for fights in WvWvW. I suspect other major problems are whats driving people away from WvWvW.

@ Liston
You bring up a good point. There may not be enough PvP centric players left in GW2 to fill these maps(even if NA/EU were combined?Hmmm). And I get the feeling PvE players would squeal if a few of the maps were rotated each week to allow PvP.
No I’m talking about a separate PvP oriented mega server, call it “Abaddon’s Eyebrows” or whatever. The PvE maps on the current servers have nothing to do with it.
I’m putting this here since I know some of the WvWvW crowd is attracted to open world PvP. It would be kind of like a PvP mega server where the the PvE maps allow for spontaneous fights. If you’re like me then you enjoy a nice random fight(or straight up hunt), win or lose! Even better if you know your opponent(s). Just as an example, some of the most fun I’ve had in an MMO was in Lineage II where PvP drama and clan(guild)wars that would break out for whatever reason. Even became friends with some rivals and played it for years.
- cities(and possibliy starter zones?) could be safe.
- initiating PvP could be as simple as a modifier key + offensive skill
- killing players who don’t fight back turns you into a “murderer”
- murderers can’t (use waypoints? some other drawbacks)
- lose murderer points by doing “good deeds”(suck it up and go do PvE tasks until its gone?)
- dying while being a murderer has consequences(totally pulling this from thin air but maybe puts a buff on you that restricts bank/TP/crafting/merchant access for x amount of time?)
- getting the killing blow on a murderer results in a zone wide message announcing it(like capping bloodlust)
Just some ideas, I won’t go any further on the chance this might end up in the suggestion heap. What do you guys think?
Not going to hijack the thread further so I’ll start one
A PvP mega server doesn’t sound bad, perhaps a nice free for all (sigh~ I miss my Lineage II Silver Ranger).
Yak’s Bend is a very consistent server when it comes to WvW. We don’t get out from behind siege and do that open field crap.
:D lol couldn’t help it!
Given zero dev attention, seasons only burn players out and in the long run decrease the WvW population.
If, on the other hand, a new BL or EB map were released from time to time (say, every 1/2 year), seasons would probably be a catalyst for increasing short and long term WvW population.
Oh well.
This. Seasons aren’t the problem. If anything seasons could make wvw very exciting. The problem is zero attention from the devs. New maps? Revamped game mechanics to fix “coverage always wins”? Any updates? A simple forum reply? Anything? Without any of this servers go ham during seasons and burn themselves out because post seasons it’s the same exact thing, week in and week out. I personally just use wvw as a glorified deathmatch arena, very rarely ppt, just kitten around and look for good 1v1’s and such, so i’m still having fun lol.
The Seasons idea may not be the root problem but it sure does compound them. Without a major overhaul of WvWvW, I don’t think there any possible rewards implementations that wouldn’t work in the same lopsided manner as PPT since whatever the smaller server can do, a bigger server can do better.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I don’t know what’s going on at Anet but you can’t tout a game mode as being intentionally imbalanced and then try turning it into a sport.
If a thief can 1-2 shot someone, that mean that this someone was glass too and deserve to be killed easily…
Hey!
Those kinds of thieves do poorly against a staff ele – control, damage, control, damage, control, damage, wait until body expires in stealth to collect bag.
Thieves are dying in 1v1s with staff Eles? LOL
Lagging out constantly, major pain getting back on.
There is most likely going to be a next season and I cannot weather another one of those, I just don’t have it in me. With the rate that the mode’s state drives players away, I think the seasons are more for the Living Story achievement/skin hunting crowd more than anyone. No content added, no improvements, just skins and AP for the same old poorly designed kitten that players have been dealing with.
Thanks guys

We don’t know what their limitations are, or their hack/cheat detection protocols are, or what methods they have available to deal with such things. To say that they are not doing anything about it may not be accurate at all. I would think that instead of just banning the offender, who will come back with another account (hacked and stolen from someone else most likely), they would flag the offender. And by flagging them, and watching them, learn HOW they are doing what they are doing, and the best methods to not only stop them from continuing to do so, but to prevent future exploiters from using the same methods.
Considering many of the hacks we’re talking about have been in-game two years, it’s safe to say Anet’s doing absolutely nothing.
I still maintain that while it may appear nothing is being done, I would suspect things are being done on the back side that we have no knowledge about. Either way there is ZERO evidence to support either claim, and both are a matter of opinion. While some may claim that those hackers are still in operation is evidence that no action, or process, is being taken, on the flip side one could point out that bots and gold sellers (which are a different form of hacking) are being stopped in droves as evidence that something IS being done.
Bots and gold sellers directly hamper Anet’s RMT..I mean gem shop sales. Speed hackers who chase down a solo roamer so his buddies can catch up and gank or the commander who can magically get out of harm’s way to continue leading, for example, do not.
I know the feeling
When has keeping WvWvWers happy ever mattered? :x
Sure, but then you have to explain how to report someone who shows up as unknown in your combatlog and is invisible, when you can do that then I’ll file a report in 2 minutes.
There isn’t even an in-game option to report someone for “grief” or “exploit.” Just saying.
Record and/or screenshot with an explanation and send to: exploits@arena.net
Wasted my time recording, uploading videos to that exact address with detailed explanations to top it off, nothing happened, saw the same cheaters over and over again since match ups went on for weeks. What else you got?
If there were actually invisible GMs going around sorting out exploiters/hackers we’d probably have an in game report option for exactly that.
Edit: No, the enemies were not invisible for me, the avatar, guild tags, even the armor skins were consistent.

Noooooo. Don’t leave DB. DB needs more NA peeps not less.
You’ll just ruin T3 for the rest of us on other servers. We don’t want to PvD during NA and then have DB PvD during SEA.
But hasn’t that been the case with DB forever? lol
@ OP
Are you by chance the Mes on Blackgate that was talking about map completion in EB a day ago?
@OP
Can you give a specific example of someone using a hack or cheat? Not the methods used, but the effects of the hack?
I’m not the OP, but I can provide plenty of vids. I would be immediately banned from this forum forever. pdavis? Google is your friend.
Yes im sure it is a bannable offence, but even so, its hard to believe that anet isnt doing anything about it.
I’ve sent video. I’ve friended to see if player got banned. Still going strong. Anet did nothing.
The second you see AC fire, you need to stop fighting in it. They don’t need a buff, some groups are rather abusive with siege as it is.
Too late for that. Anet didn’t care and now people don’t care. People want activity whenever they pop in, and unless there was some organized movement to spread guilds onto lower tier servers, I don’t think most people would bother wasting time and money. The T4 server I was on was active for a small window of time and when we’d start playing, the only thing on the maps was a massive, siege creeping, enemy ktrain. The third server was imploding. Even NA T1 has dead zones.
