Go to the open temples in Orr, spend some karma, get the Power/Vitality/Toughness set. Buy the leg piece(only one you can’t get with karma I think) with badges and get a decent rune set based on how you like to play(defense/offense).

My mouth dropped open reading this and I’m going to tell ya why.

Some classes have poor access to personal stability. Mesmers have a mantra and unless you’re specced that way, it turns your utility bar to kitten. Crowd control is waaaay more frequently accessible than stability, something that can be ripped/corrupted even. Earthshaker’s CD is minimal in comparison, 3 of the four Ele attunements on staff have an AoE CC, guard wards and binding blade, immobilize now stacks(yay?) the list goes on. I can see it now, half the time you wouldn’t even have control of your character then you’ll just explode. No thanks, CC doesn’t ever need to be op, it needs to be balanced.

Well given the situation Dragonbrand is in, I can see why people are getting possibly extra worked up lol.

Reset night is high pressure, even for “celeb” commanders, expectations are high so seeing a unknown tag probably dashed some hopes and they felt like taking it out on you. If they can’t be decent enough to make their point(if there’s one) without being trollish then you can safely ignore them.

It’s not just about the amount of player, a good guild will wipe zergs twice their size.

From what I can see from these “smaller” servers, they have the same number as us on reset nights, but just lack coordination to survive fights and relies on numbers.

Our current adversaries certainly can’t blame numbers for yesterday’s reset night.

The number of times some zerg came running at us without stability or any type of organization and was wiped in a few seconds was ridiculous.

The rest of the week is another matter.

Uhh on a couple maps we didn’t even have a queue so I don’t know about that and saying numbers don’t matter is a bit of a stretch. I guess it’s easy to say when your guild groups are almost the same size as opponent pug zergs.

Ive said this before, and I’ll say it again, eliminate WvW and leagues as we know it. Create factions, and have players join a certain faction whenever they want to join WvW.

Put up the numbers each map and factions have at once so you can either choose to join an even numbered (or outnumbered fight).

You’d eliminate population imbalance, you’d eliminate que times, and you (could) avoid skill lag if you wanted to play on a smaller numbers map.

Or instanced Alliances/GvG battlegrounds, 2 or 3 way 15/25/50 across the servers, so now it’s a matter of guild management instead of server level recruitment. They can leave the WvWvW maps for the roamers and siege people, just take off the scoreboard.

The Norn race can stealth with the snow leopard elite skill. I’ve been noticing speed hack use more these days though.

Norn racial also offers a 4 second ‘dash’ at about 400% speed. It’s a very nice escape IF you remember to clear your target and don’t mind hitting trees at 200mph.

Ha, yeah I’m aware of that one. It’s just that I’ve been noticing things like players constantly popping ahead in combat when all parties involved have swiftness and gap closing skills while the questionable player is simply just running and increasing the gap. Another one that is subtle is the jump height cheat, the player can parkour their way out of a jam, it seems legit until you try to continue the chase and faceplant.

Good for them that they’re finding decent fights. Also, I’ve yet to to see any game where players are encouraged not to care about the scoreboard. If that’s the case why even keep score. What exactly is being judged and rewarded? We all know what that is and it stinks.

Well with an attitude like that of course you will fail.
But on the other hand, what does constitute a fail?
Not getting top 1?

In my eyes it is much more of a fail to just give up without a fight than placing last in a league (my server will most likely place last in EU silver, since we have yet to be even close to win a single match-up).

Even if you lose the league you can still “win” by not giving up and actually put up a fight.
The main issue is that people only see rewards instead of playing for the sake of fun.

Please stop peddling this nonsense to people who are looking for a shot at winning in a competetive environment and having some fun doing it. WvWvW is so not competetive that it ends up killing the fun for many players. Why should they futily keep showing up to “fight the good fight”? To prove what to whom?


Leagues are a joke because WvWVW matches are a joke —> because PPT is a joke —>because population imbalance is a joke. Same kitten from DAY ONE. I don’t care about league rewards, I might never even see them, but I’m not kidding myself about decent fights getting more sporadic so my days here are numbered.

Your WXP shows your expertise with that particular class. You’re a very good ranger in WvW. You know how to position, what spec works best for you, and what you can contribute to your map.

No it doesn’t, not even by a long shot. Anybody with eyesight and functioning digits can run with a blob and soak up the wxp, small children do it on a regular basis. And being reminded of that probably doesn’t feel very good for a player who thinks they’ve accomplished something by sticking to one class.

Why should you get those things on your thief? Why should you appear to be more experienced than a player who only plays that profession?

1. Because I’m still the same player who’s played wvwvw for x amount of time.

2. This reeks of rank envy, which I don’t understand because you can’t see ally ranks and I can’t fathom why anyone would care about an enemy’s rank, it’s either they bring a good fight or they don’t. Their rank doesn’t take anything from me.

I’m currently testing to see if I should even bother reporting hackers, I recorded the player and sent the link to exploits@arena.net(since there is STILL no hack/exploit report option in game). It’s been days without even so much as an automated “we received your report” reply. The user is still online.

This is the trap of WvWvW and I’ve mentioned it here before. A lot of people fall into this trap because they make an initial investment and will feel like they need to see it through and that they’re doing a good thing. Anet keeps buffing siege while structures stay the same. My advice? Keep your money, play for the fights and if/when that isn’t fun, log off, you don’t owe your opponents or servermates a good time.

Not liking it, and I don’t care about the rewards. These same rewards changed a lot of people’s attitudes about the same broken game as if its suddenly and magically not about coverage. So far its been:

- Insane queues
- laggy, zergy fights
- boredom because by Monday the winner is decided

I wish Anet would pull their heads out of the kittens and realize it’s fail game design to push something so imbalanced as competitive, it’s not and never will be, it shouldn’t have been like this even for casual play. Some of the new players will see this in time and get turned off too.

11/1 Week 3: BP, FA, NSP

FA is right, we don’t have any great leadership on the open field. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have great guilds, players, or even leaders. We’re just not used to this playstyle we’re facing at all (and lets be honest, we don’t have your coverage). It’s a totally new meta to most of us, one that you have all developed in as a server; whereas we’re still in a place where multiple 15-20 man groups make all the difference. I can see what’s needed to go against your kind of server, all things being equal, but I don’t want to go there yet, nor do my server mates.

Honestly its not just the numbers. We know for a fact that you are filling at least one BL a night. Its just that your commanders are not getting you guys organized to do anything useful.

The other night you guys had a queue in BPBL, and only held Garrison and a paper northern tower.

Your forces aren’t being utilized to their potential.

Back in the day, when Maguuma was a bit smaller than they are now, they would lock down their BL. COMPLETELY LOCK IT DOWN.

Old FA had a lot of trouble in their BL. We respected the kitten out of that.

BP has the numbers to do that at the very least.

I think you guys need to work on communication and what not. Respond faster etc.

Don’t worry about the coverage you don’t have, just fight hard in your BL and show up for every fight.

Don’t log off when you get wiped, honestly we’ve wiped SOR/BG/JQ/TC(which btw are terrible servers full of mostly bad guilds) tons….more than we have ever wiped you guys. We are sort of good at that.

Fraps and go over what went wrong. Watch what we do, and do it also.

Simple techniques to get you started:

Empower with your guardians, maneuver and hit your enemies sides or flanks with heavy bombs, you need to finish kills with these bombs. If you see downed enemies finish them, but don’t stomp.

Most importantly: KEEP MOVING. Time after time we have seen BP stacking, and not moving. I don’t know if its taking took long for you guys to get your might stacks or you are trying to stack retaliation…either way you just sit there and get bombed.

“Violence of Action” wins a lot of fights in WvW. Once the action has started, the enemies damage intake and casualties sets them up for psychological failure and bad playing.

You guys should focus on the attack part for now, and then get your hardcore WvW’rs to be prepared to not panic when the fight seems to take a turn. Remember one kill can rally a crap ton of people.

I’m sorry you probably meant well but this is the some of the most patronizing, trollish(and oddly funny) bullkitten I’ve read on these forums and that says a lot. Do you honestly think your server has a higher skill level and that NSP or BP gives two rats’ kittens about PPT in this matchup? Lawls

Normally I would not mind this, but the LS creatures ARE KILLING YAKS. If at least their spawn points and aggro range was moved to not interfere with such a critical part of WvW, many of us who pay attention to these things would be deeply appreciative. “Oh well you should have people escorting yaks anyways.” Irrelevant. In no way should LS effect WvW operations.

You’re being forced to kill them so Anet can look at their “metrics” and say “Hey, ppl dig this LS stuff, take that forum minority!” >:D

My only problem with the living story is that the Toxic Mobs kill supply yaks. On the flipside of this, I would love to see some big kitten dragon spawn and wipe a huge army then fly off and burn all the siege on some random keep somewhere once in a great while. A little added PvE chaos and some completely unpredictable factor would be great on the battle field.

Anet have created this monster of servers not being able to compete effectively within wvw by creating leagues. IMO i would like to see even numbers in WvW ie you cannot enter unless the others have the same amount of players or near too, haven’t thought about it too much but thats what we pay money to the game for, (Their Expertise). I play on underworld and had just started to enjoy running with ppl win some lose some, but now its a complete cluster **** and no enjoyment at all. Anet needs to re-think it’s plan with WvW and bring back GvG from GW1 thats what people want. Guild Hall etc. Why don’t they listen to the map chat or the forums. Not good only appears that you keep adding content that people feel compounded to complete. Take at look at what you already have Really good game, but people are already leaving and playing other stuff because you’re not listning.

This has been going on before leagues. WvWvW is a poorly thought out game mode that needs to be gutted and revamped, it’s basically open world pvp with a scoreboard(bad bad bad idea) and will work to turn players away from GW2, I’ve said this multiple times. Sometimes fighting at a disadvantage can be fun but it gets old if that’s all there is, trampling over opponents constantly isn’t much different because they give up(and rightfully so). Anet, why can’t you understand that?! If they added official GvG, I suspect the gold sink that is WvWvW will empty out.

A lot of people like to think they’re not karma training, but blobbing up and further taking the path of least resistance and rolling over everything yields the same results, the former is no better than the latter. They removed the culling but that only allows you to better see the glaring population imbalances. Mindless zerging still very much a thing in GW2.

The OP was in jest, but I still support new players getting something to ease their initiation. Even something as simple as no repair bills until a certain rank would be nice.

I disagree, those repair bills are a great incentive to learn how to be better player. Also what would this mean for vet players on alts?

- Red rings mean the same thing in PvE
-Veteran mobs should be a familiar sight, shouldn’t go rushing into a group of them solo if they know they’re not built to handle it.
- Paying attention to enemy buffs isn’t something WvWvW specific either.

Once they learn about the basic relationship between camps, towers, keeps and castles and how supplies factor in, then they can function in WvWvW, the rest is just experience like siege placement and use for example.

What some new people do complain about is being on the receiving end of skills that come in handy in PvE like stealth and massive amounts of damage whether direct or conditions. And while some of the gripes are legit, a lot of the problems go away with some research and a little effort. They don’t need a handicap.

Yeah..no, if you come to realm with PvP activities and can’t handle dying then march back through that Asura gate quick, fast and in a hurry. All these suggestions are focused on one thing giving a player training wheels because they’re afraid of dying. Why should someone get an advantage because they don’t know what the kitten they’re doing? They need to take their lumps like everyone before them and learn from mistakes.

I have to disagree. IMO defending could use a boost. If you’re in a situation where your server’s effort is a couple groups with 10 people with a couple catas or rams trying to sneak a T3 structure on any map that is generally always controlled by the enemy then yes you’re going to run into problems if the enemy has a defense team and that’s the way it should be.

People already babysit these structures for no reward and for the amount of money and time upgrading takes, a small band of people should not be able to crack it open undetected, sorry. Especially with Anet making siege stronger with each update. The elephant in the room is population discrepancy, they have impenetrable structures because your server isn’t able to compete in the first place.

Warning, this is only my opinion. This mode will need constant population rejuvenation, more than any game I’ve played. Why? You create a “persistent” map and slapped a scoreboard on it. Upgrading takes ages and the people who invest hefty sums of gold often feel the need to invest equally hefty amounts of time just so they don’t feel like they wasted their money. Not only that, but someone has to literally sit and do basically nothing, and get nothing in order for structures to strengthen because you’ve made siege and going on the offensive in general so outrageously strong(this not counting the thirty second contested delay) that casual play is out of the question for anyone who cares about performance, look away for ten minutes and it’s gone!

Leagues might have brought in new blood but I can pretty much guarantee they too will be chased away from caring about the score board and probably this mode or game in general once they find out how WvWvW wins really work. Trying to make something so horrendously imbalanced competitive is a bad idea. A game that could have been really fun has been reduced to work and it has gotten worse with this league nonsense because some people have been duped into thinking that the winner is now magically somehow no longer predetermined. The most fun I had was running around with my guildmates and ignoring the bogus idea of PPT. People want to fight other players or simulate war, not play Whack-A- Mole.

That’s your view on the game, not everyones. There are those who are willing to stay up 12+ hours in WvW to command and push their server and there are those who come in to just roam around and have their personal victory. But there are many inbetweens. There is no adverse effects of losing at WvW so the stress is self-inflicted, and for some that’s welcomed and they enjoy that type of feels. I love for my server to win and I’d gladly donate large sums of gold to help support my server (for upgrades and such not transfers, just in case some smart kitten wants to jump in). But I don’t pressure myself into playing WvW 24/7, GW2 is more than just WvW (to some this is all they see and I don’t have anything against that). If I spent 3 gold to upgrade a keep and it drops an hour later, then I just shrug it off, it’s a game of risk. If you are asking for the rewards, then you are playing the wrong game mode and possibly the wrong game.

Did I not open my post saying this is my opinion? Or do you just enjoy making redundant statements? Staying up 12+ hours may be self inflicted stress but the game promotes this and this is the kind of stuff I’m hinting at. It is not healthy.

You know, Bloodlust buff was introduced for that reason. My server has around 35-40% of our points purely from spiking downed players and not from PPT.

I sincerely doubt this is why bloodlust was added. And it still does not address the sad state of upgrading and defending. This is part of why people mindlessly karma train or focus on GvG or just roam and ignore calls for help(unless they want to farm some bags). WvWvW needs major changes.

Leagues might have brought in new blood but I can pretty much guarantee they too will be chased away from caring about the score board and probably this mode or game in general once they find out how WvWvW wins really work. Trying to make something so horrendously imbalanced competitive is a bad idea. A game that could have been really fun has been reduced to work and it has gotten worse with this league nonsense because some people have been duped into thinking that the winner is now magically somehow no longer predetermined. The most fun I had was running around with my guildmates and ignoring the bogus idea of PPT. People want to fight other players or simulate war, not play Whack-A- Mole.

If by objectives you mean camps that take all of 20 seconds to flip then sure, but one scout can but a kibosh on a small man team taking even a paper tower because the maps are small enough to allow the zerg to show up in seconds if they want to. Population is the deciding factor in the PPT game.

WvWvW is about a show of force so numbers will win out at the end of the day so it won’t ever, ever be about skill. If Anet wants to cull farming they need to really stop implementing bullkitten vertical progression via ascended gear and stat boosts hidden behind ranks and probably think about revisiting structure defense against the ever increasing strength and availability of siege weapons.

Also, zergs aren’t stupid per se they just provide a sheltered and forgiving way to play, because someone is in the blob doesn’t automatically mean they are a terrible player.
