Umm…I play a zerker warrior in WvW. He uses GS/sw+axe.
I can outrun pretty much anyone on the planet and still beat the ever living kitten out of other players. So yeah. Not sure what you are getting at here….
Zerk thieves also kill noobs easily and struggle against good players, your point?
Pretty sure Guardians don’t have these ‘shadow steps’ you’re talking about, unless you mean the sword #2 teleport or JI.
Sword #2 and Judges Intervention are both shadow steps.
In fact, Guards are the slowest class, on average, in my opinion.
Building for mobility over other aspects is a choice, obviously if you don’t build for it you will be slower. That does not mean guardians are “the slowest, on average”, they’re very fast when they want to be.
He’s saying Wars do not have to build around mobility to be faster than most other classes and he’s right. They have gap widening/closing weapon skills with default short CDs on multiple weapons (a large HP pool, those immunities, 24/7 regen and stun breaks don’t hurt either). Some other classes don’t even have sensible options for mobility(looking at you Necro, and my Mes gives up dmg when using Traveler runes).
The lack of communication is beyond embarrassing.
I think it was best said “GW2 forums have become much like a boyfriend or girlfriend who is consistently asking if things are ok and they MUST get a replay back every time or things are in there view going badly” its ok that you dev. not posting on every thread and this season not going to shift. Most likely things will changes after this session is over so beyond having the dev. read what being posted about it having them say something every time some “super ego person” post is pointless.
I find the amount of self important view on ppl post very embarrassing as being part of the GW2 community.
Any way back to the thread its an RvRvR question how do you make ppl want to play for there world with out making it into a farm fest? I do not know how and i am not sure if there is going to be one trick to fix it all more then likely its going to take time and a lot of work by both Anet and the GW2 community.
That analogy doesn’t work, the relationships are not comparable. No, Anet can’t and shouldn’t answer every other thread but take a brief look through this forum’s history and notice how sporadic the Anet tags are, last one was about a month ago(btw where is Allie Murdock’s replacement?) and with the frequency that threads are deleted around here that is very telling. Some of the tagged threads on recent pages are from 9 months to a year ago. They’re not saying anything because they have nothing to say. That’s what is in store for WvWvW. The CDI thread business is just them throwing us a bone.
About a year ago, I was commanding EB. We were green. A group of about 30 Blue attacked Jerrifers. They built like 5 sup catas, on the side close to golanta and cata the wall for 3 mins before they realized that wall couldn’t be destroyed.
Didn’t even have the heart to go wipe them.
It’s even worse when its 50+ people and it was at most 4 months ago.
Hint hint, the gem shop harvesting tools are not level restricted. :P
1. Do not purchase siege and upgrades if you’re strapped for cash, you’ll thank me later. You’ll end up leashing yourself to structures to make sure they don’t flip or siege doesn’t despawn while everybody else is having fun fighting.
2. Use the zerg as a meat shield, bring ranged skills, and play as defensively as possible.
3. Realize some PvP centric players on your server will shun you because of the ridiculous rally system and don’t take it too personally.
Old guilds going, news comming.
That kind of optimism is nice but it’s not realistic. I doubt the amount of new players is keeping pace with the amount of people leaving this game. MMOs lose players over time, GW2 is no exception and WvWvW is plagued with obvious design flaws. What I think it happening is guild rosters are drying up and remaining players are seeking refuge under new tags.
You’re talking about the GVG map back in GW1 right?
Those are quite awesome, and I’d like to see them at least in pvp map.
Too bad Anet doesn’t use the good things that’re already there and decided to add crappy things like Sky Hammer.Could be worse… We could have skyhammer cannon on wvw…
I agree. Make it happen. Throw in those ridiculous EoTM auto turrets as well, have them cover all open areas like the area around SW Garrison sentry, between Bay and Briar tower, the sentry near south camp, between Hills and Garrison, west of Lake tower, all of it! More NPC interference please. Content!
That’s a free bag if I ever saw one.
Shhh this is starting to sound eerily like a m@tchup thread, they’re watching >.>. Also, are there anymore 2v1’s happening outside of NA T1? Euro? If so, I’m not hearing diddly about that.
<sarcasm>Capped aoe and downed benefit skilled groups far more than they benefit larger groups.</sarcasm>
Fixed that for ya!
Not much lately since a couple servers have decided to team up against another server and trade wins for the tournament.
Man up. My sever got double teamed a lot during Season 1 by a certain server who practically invented the concept and actually ended up winning S1…the same server whining about being double teaming…
WvW is my primary go to GW2 mode. I like the challenge, the randomness. And double teaming other servers whenever possible (I just said that to be a kitten)
Not the same though. There’s a difference between the 2v1 that happens naturally in WvW versus a coordinated 2v1 where two servers purposely team up to shut out another server the entire match while not attacking each other and taking turns sharing wins.
Crying about it won’t make it stop, get out there and fight.
OH EM GE I somehow managed to grab the post spot right after you without even knowing it. I must say you’re wrong though… crying about stuff has always made things better. Why try and have fun with a situation in a video game, when you can simply go on the forum and tell the world how bad you have it? Seriously, people need to know how bad one server in one tier in one region of servers in one game is getting treated. I mean, truly there is nothing worse in the world than the injustice of a server getting 2v1ed in a free for all styled three way matchup.
T1 problems aren’t they a kitten? lol :P

Dude the way you’re all over this thread is starting to bum me out. It shouldn’t be this serious.
Welcome to power creep.
Many people including me have been advocating to stop with power creep. If you want a more pleasant gaming experience you have to remove incredibly over powered buffs like food buffs or the Applied Fortitude/Strength buffs. Ascended gear is just as bad. Then there is the problem of specific rune sets. Perplexity says hi. Those any many others need a fix. Then there is the stacking sigils. Make it impossible to farm stacks of mobs. WvW is PvP.
I would love to see all of the above trashed. What about you?
You have the choice to run food or not to run food. You have the choice of where to spend your wxp. You have the choice of whether or not to build ascended gear and what runes and sigils to use. I don’t get why people cry so much when the option is on the table and they choose not to take it. Laughable.
So basically, grind out the time gated, expensive gear, grind guard buffs and stock up on food/runes/sigils that cost an arm and a leg because build diversity in GW2 is coughing up blood. You’re kinda proving the point about ridiculous power creep.
Because the game was not finished on release, and WvWvW got the kittenyest end of that stick.
This is another example of a “fix” that fixes some things while breaking others. One used to be able to use the transformation crystals to move runes between armor. Can’t do that with the new system, which means there is no way to get runes out of armor that can’t be salvages without buying a very expensive upgrade extractor. Is that the point of this “fix”? Yes, the Extractor gives you everything back but I haven’t seen them dropping as part of normal gameplay like the Transmutation Crystals.
And it probably won’t happen soon if at all either. If this is Anet’s way of monetizing WvWvW, then this is shady beyond belief.
Hi Sticky! No, I’m not stalking you! Now it seems like I’m stalking you…

Oh well this is awkward…
lol <3

Now is your chance to get in on that sweet, sweet LS content. Chip chop chip! :P

I’m really enjoying the random bitter ingame msgs from BG players
You know I was just about to make this top then I noticed a 14 page thread started a YEAR ago about the same thing!
Seriously, who thought those big, lumpy, ugly backpacks would be a good idea in a game that is supposedly built around “beautifying” your characters? Come on Anet, ditch these old dirty bags of junk already.
I hear ya but honestly what are they going to do? Send the next sacrificial lamb to the WvWvW forums to say “Here are the things we’re not and have no intention of working on?”. Right now, the game is in a state where quality of life tid bits are being drawn out and dangled as if they were almost expansion packs, which is a giant red flag for me. Seasons are a joke because slapping some achievements and shinies on the same broken mode doesn’t make it a sport. They have players who care enough to complain but for how long?
Because it would make sabotage and even more harassment easier?
You heard that OP? Build yourself right down to the last detail to counter the immob and stun spams!
Well, you should have bandwagoned ahead of time, shame on you!
Lol seriously though, is that really the message you got? Too funny.
You can have a good time if you join a WvWvW guild that fits your playstyle and has people you actually like.
You can have a good time if you join in on server voice chat where people are actively communicating and the commander is competent and not abrasive.
You can have a good time solo roaming if you’re built well and don’t mind fighting the same classes with basically the same builds pretty much all the time.
Unfortunately, Anet’s handling of WvWvW has created a lot of bitterness in the playerbase, and the frustration can sometimes be directed at fellow players because, short of quitting the game, there isn’t much else they have the power to do. So just ignore the trolls.
They have alright numbers at night but for some reason they are really easy to wipe. Like the few servers that lean on night crews, if they can’t PvDoor to insane PPT, they have no chance and BG and TC won’t let up on them.
If you have server pride you need to step away from the computer for a while.
It’s the same concept as a sports team. Of course there’s going to be server pride….
Except that it’s not, any competitive sport has rules in place to maintain some semblance of fairness, that’s a pipe dream at best in WvWvW. I stand by what I said.
If you have server pride you need to step away from the computer for a while.
Why wouldn’t S2 but just as broken as S1? What decides a winner hasn’t changed one bit. They’ve taken a horrendously imbalanced game mode and tried turning it into some kind of sport with shiny rewards. I just feel sad for the “server pride” folks.
war is unfair, so is WvW just as it should be, working as intended.
This is not war, this is a video game. People play video games to have fun, and unfair fights are not fun. It appears that the boundaries between the video game world and the real world are blurred for you.
LOL and I thought I was the only one who found this to be strange.
If you’re comparing a game, something that is supposed to be entertainment to actual real world war then perhaps you should step back and kitten some stuff.
@ceol
Oh there are definitely still cool people on BP, the general atmosphere has always been a pretty laid back one(for better or worse). They’re trying to pick up the pieces and I wish them the best of luck. I know for our guild, fighting YB was not fun either since we prefer open field fights over prolonged siege warfare and it was either that or Dragonbrand’s PPT guilds because Ebay was already crumpled up in a pool of its own blood at that point.
People have already been leaving BP. It has a strong pug force, and these pugs would rally around the few larger guilds. The downside is this didn’t foster a good environment for guild diversity and coordination. The weeks of PvDoor matchups with Dragonbrand, burnout and drama with some of the active organizers on the server didn’t help either. Leagues just ramped up the bleeding that was already underway.
You need to take the time to read and think about the idea. Check the last section of the first post and run the fake match up on paper. The outcome is very different when you introduce a PPT cap.
Coverage will still win because the team with the most WvWvW people active will slap the other servers’ PPT down to zero anyway.
The sad truth of it is…<drum roll> Anet messed up big time! Games these days have global communities, but Anet didn’t give two kittens about that when they made a game mode with 24/7 scoring but only offered NA/Euro servers(brilliant!). It is what it is.
And what makes you think I did not read it? Because I disagreed? These changes will be cosmetic at best, servers will still be predetermined to win/lose for the same exact reasons as they are right now just with lower overall scores.

Make upgrades cost badges. Means people upgrading need to switch when out of badges.
Then everything will be paper lol. Really though, not a good idea at all. People usually hold on to badges for alts and build changes. I seriously doubt they’ll throw badges into something that will flip as soon as they leave for 20 minutes. The resources required to defend far outweigh what it takes to attack and the rewards don’t stack up either.

As for the guy who said they defended against 60 with 5 ACs, the only way I could see that being true is if those 60 people were too lazy to supply up and build even a single treb.
Whether you want a fight or not, if you can’t handle fighting then stay out of PvP areas.
If Anet gave two kittens about players they’d just make commander tags account bound from the start but can only be enabled by characters x level and above (or straight up level 80). At least that would make their weak commander system a bit more viable.
Anet, I sure hope you guys have one of the most important features needed in GW2 and requested by players, especially those that enjoy WvW. Those being….
Upgrades to the C&S system to allow private and guild only squads, and better functionality to the system.
The grouping system flexibility and functions in GW2 are abysmal. You give us two ways to group in the game. A 5 man group or a zerg. It’s been almost two years since the first Beta Weekend event on April 27th 2012. Players have been requesting a decent grouping system since then and pretty much every post on the collaborative thread regarding the C&S system.
If one of the most needed and requested features is not in the big feature patch…. I guess it really proves Anet is completely out of touch with the player base.
You know I’m going to co-sign this. It’s a major reason I’ve never ever, ever bought a commander tag, total waste of gold imo.
Ironically you’ve made a thread QQing about these supposedly QQers.
This thread doesn’t even warrant a serious response.
What?

The Elder Scrolls Online will have a multitude of public dungeons within Cyrodiil, which will feature quests, bosses, and loot. Unlike dungeons in the safe PvE areas of the game, however, anyone can enter these dungeons, including your enemies! Imagine working your way with a friend through the bowels of some ancient crypt, only to find a small group from an enemy alliance preparing to kill a boss at the end. There are few things more satisfying than teaming up with a PvE boss to take down a group of players
I saw it already in Aion.
You know how it looks like?
Dominating faction will hold weak faction out of the boss room, while they’re killing the boss.In the end, statistically it’ll look like this
– your faction will manage to kill certain boss maybe 2-3 times for half a year, while the other faction will be full of loot from that boss.Balanced factions? Haven’t seen a game where balance in factions was kept for a long time. It’s players mentality – I cba to go to zergfest and gain middle finger from that boss anyway, i.e. I skip it.^n players that think the same or very similar way.
You already lose a decent number on your side, or enemy does.So factions for pve stuff may look nice, but in the end it’s broken.
I played Daoc for years, and yes it also was unbalanced, but my side the least populated side on my server hibernia could go out and crush the Albions and midgards almost at will with proper cordination, there was no AOE cap in daoc,so you could stack mana chanters surrounded by tanks and healers and blow the crap outa of unorganized zergs, it was fun. I never played aion, so no clue about that game.
Point is, being out manned dosent always mean a loss,or youll never see end game bosses in pvp areas.
Aion factions were not even close to being balanced, the outnumbered faction would maybe cap some stuff after the dominant faction got bored of showing up to defend against practially no player attackers. People complained about it to the point where they started putting the graphs of the lopsided results in their forum sigs, and on pretty much all the servers the results were eerily similar and embarrassing. One side had a much easier gaming experience overall (I’ve played both).
A little over a year after launch North American servers went from about a dozen to like four. But to be honest, I’m sure the unchecked botting, brutal RNG, PvP nerfs and lame class balance had something to do with it too.
We just call them paper or reinforced keeps, doors, etc. No one says tier1 ,2,3,etc. Very rare to hear that
I hear a mix of “paper keep” and “T3 tower”, so I would hold off on daubing with that brush.
Link is busted

Transferred from BP to TC.
So nice to not have to run around for 30 min to find a kitten fight. Not a 1 min incursion, an actual battle.Don’t you have to wait due to the queues though?
I can’t speak for him. We are in the same guild though and to me, our raids have become waaay more fun on TC. Unless it’s reset the queues aren’t that serious if there are any at all (it’s usually Eternal that is the heaviest), even then, the steady stream of fights and the support makes it well worth the wait.

We moved off BP because there was no night crew to play with and we got bored wiping Dragonbrand’s PPT guilds until they became too numerous (did a fair bit of siege creeping too). It would have been nice to get some rivalries going and improve all of our open field skills and get some hard fights but seems they were more interested in ktrains than anything else. Yak’s Bend didn’t do a lot of open field and IoJ wasn’t much different (seemed somewhat of a coverage issue) so there was really nothing left for us there.
Tarnished Coast are swallowing every server around them. You should see them in WvW. 0 defense, 100% offense, 90 – 100man blobs.
LOL what?! Is that what it looks like on your side there? I must assure you that TC most definitely defends. I’m now throwing down superior siege with confidence that it will be maintained and manned, something I haven’t bothered doing in months on Borlis Pass. There was a bit of a culture shock at the level of organization, support and all around friendliness of the various guilds. These guys sound the drum, communicate and fight tooth and nail to cap and upgrade even enemy keeps.
can we please get some kind of statement from developers?
Because they’ve done that so many times before?? Just be glad they haven’t yet created a CDI around account-bound wxp … that’s the kiss of death.
I read this and almost choked laughing. I took one look at those CDIs and steered clear because they stunk to high heaven.
—-
I feel Anet’s keeping account bound wxp in their back pocket to rejuvenate WvWvW after other games start biting into the population. Which could turn out to be a day late and a dollar short.
Dxtory all the way. Multiple audio streams for more editing options and it’s not a resource hog.
Wildly imbalanced matchups aren’t a problem it’s a feature.
