2. However, some of his mechanics need ironing out. The AoE absolutely needs to hit inside the red circles, not outside. His auto-attack needs some limit and a more obvious animation. He also should reset constantly etc.

His auto-attack (if you mean single projectile) is perfectly fine. If someone has issue with that, than I challenge him to dodge simin’s petrify move ;p

Pretty much all of my dungeon guides are 1 guard/3 war/1 mes or 2 guard/2 war/1 mes with everyone in full melee and the guards and mesmers in berserker gear with the guardians in a combination of knights/berserker (hitting around 2900 toughness to hold agro off berserker classes). Survivability gear is a crutch for people who aren’t familiar with dungeons, but once you get enough experience it’s quicker/easier to run full dps to clear dungeons quickly when you have the skill/knowledge to either avoid attacks or use skills to negate them.

You meant warriors in full berserker and guardians with knights/berserker with 2900 defense, right?

To be honest, quite a lot of CoF P1 isn’t about killing, but actually skipping. Other then the first section in which you have to clear out the guards and the turrets, you are only required to actually kill the Acolytes during the rescue section, apart from the bosses. This is why CoF P1(and P2 to a reasonable extent as well as other dungeons with short times) can be ran so quickly. Rather than making it harder, a better solution would actually be creating more events that are not skip-able.

Not really, check this video from October. No skipping, killing everything, less than 7 minutes. Party composition? 2 wars/2 guards/1 thief, no mesmer. That path is just short.

So after several tries I always ended with mostly same result. I managed to pass through phase 1, but always wiped during the second phase. Even not standing in red circle I was still getting damage, so after few hours I left frustrated. Warrior.. ehm, i mean Wethospu wins this time

Grats on making it that much more difficult for your group. They were right to kick you. Subject Alpha’s aoe easily avoided yes, but if you refuse to follow tactics you screw it for the rest of the team on alpha. This wasn’t about them being bad but you being arrogant.

Are people supposed to glitch bosses or they get kicked?

If you want to beat it you have to train. Even if your team keeps dying, as long as one player is able to survive, the fight can go on while the others run back.So if you don’t want your PuG to leave, practice surviving.

That was really difficult to watch. The elitism at the beginning with the gear made me feel a little queezy inside, but it’s not like I haven’t seen it before. The part that made it difficult for me to watch was seeing how brain dead easy this content is for these groups. Running a glass cannon ranger, guardian or engineer isn’t remotely close to this.

Glass cannon guardian is pretty easy, imho easier than warrior.

I was genuinely surprised when two people were downed at the end, the boss has more than 10% of his health (this is the final boss of a level 75? dungeon path) and the party keeps DPSing it down because they know they can get a rally – off of a boss at 10% health, with three people. Glass cannons downed right next to it, and the warriors can DPS fast enough that they don’t even die. Great sword DPS needs to be nerfed, it’s way out of line with glass cannon DPS from other classes (although other classes come close). People are getting away with this because their DPS is high enough that they can kill things before attrition gets to them, if the targets lived longer (ie, these glass cannons had DPS in line with other classes and couldn’t just cheese through encounters) we might actually see the need for survivability.

I don’t rez people at lupi as glass ele, does it make ele damage op?

As a side note, I’d like to see a discussion (probably in it’s own thread) on the impact of portal and blink in dungeons. There is a lot of content which was intentionally designed to challenge several members of a group, traps like the water spouts in TA (although it can be turned off, it seems to be intended that you get at least a couple people across to turn them off), or the rolling boulders in this video. In this video we see a mesmer blink across (so no need to play through the encounter as intended, FotM has a similair encounter with the stairs favouring classes with blinks, blocks or invulnerability) and simply portal people to finish the event. I like that classes are being rewarded with valuable contributions to groups from powerful skills, I also like that content is “challenging” people to find creative solutions, I don’t like that it’s creating a kind of “soft trinity” of classes that have “the right” skill for the job, while others are simply ignored.

Every group I’ve done CoF with (and it’s one of the easiest dungeons if you do path 1) has had to play with far more skill and effort than what’s showcased in that video, and it takes us much longer. Sure we aren’t optimised (but that one dude was running major runes, and this is actually a pug team, not a co-ordinated team – even the OP isn’t “experienced” with this style), but wow this looks way too easy.

Those people on that vid, take them to coe/arah/fractals with their gear and they will have problems with every boss unless they glitch them. The problem with CoF1 is that you fight 2 silver mobs, 1 champion and 1 legendary. Skill isn’t needed for that.

Everything else except cooking will be almost worthless once anet introduces ascended weapons and armours. They started with jewelry because making new trinkets is easier than rest of the equipment – you don’t need any 3d models, just 2d image.

How often do you go down? I feel that full zerker would have you going down quite often, especially in the higher level fractals, to the point where the added DPS from full zerker isn’t utilized… A downed or dead guardian does 0 dps… Please, prove me wrong Also, how often do you have the lifesteal perk from food, and how much does it heal for? Thanks in advance

Less tanky setups without life-stealing food work. It’s just a matter of using endurance correctly.

i’ll tell you a secret.

Easy PvE = DPS BASED
medium dungeons = Tanky Based
Difficult dungeon = all dps you are going to be oneshot anyway…… unless you provide some reliable TEAM support that is not healing 1/10 of health
That reole can be covered mostly by just 1 class….

We normally do path 1 every night at least once, we kill everything (no skipping). It usually takes us about 25 mins each time. How much faster are these speed runs anyway?

You can do it in about 7 minutes with killing everything.

Is the Greater Nightmare Vine encounter in TA being reworked with the res rush change in mind? All the red circles make it impossible to revive someone after they’ve defeated.

Maybe the point is to not die at all? This boss isn’t even legendary.

What? I was talking about Dual Strike. Don’t use up your Adrenaline at all, you need the +12% damage and +9% crit.

You’ve said like you wanted to say that you shouldn’t use burst on GS but on axe. Secondly, 2 warriors have almost perma fury, you don’t need to have one attack that gives it and another which dps is worse than autoattack. Thirdly, bursting is okay when you need to refill endurance (some encounters require intensive dodging).

Bjarl still has this wonderful feature where he can switch targets mid-charge for no kittening reason. Aldus spawns elites for no reason, Sorge has jihad barracudas now, Colossus’ howl is STILL featured to have 300 degrees (Rob said this feature should get removed soon™ enough), etc etc.

Fair enough, I haven’t done HotW since September.

About Bjarl, he doesn’t have unshakeable buff so it’s quite optimal to cc him when he’s about refresh his scales.

I find that with all cleric’s accessories you don’t hit as hard.

Your damage is same with cleric’s or knight’s. You have more crit chance though but basic damage is same.

I’m not trolling. I kick all non-Warriors from my party. Anyone not wearing full zerkers gear gets kicked. Greatsword or dual-axe only, or kick.

It’s the harsh truth, but any profession/build except for Berserker Warrior is inferior and therefore not viable.

You must have had some other buffs because bosses drops ~10s without any buffs. And that particualr food increases it by 40%.

This is indeed considered a terrain exploit and will be fixed in the next patch.

To clarify, standing on high cliffs and shooting down is a tactic and not an exploit. Now if you’re standing on a rock in Snowbind Fractals shooting the boss at point blank w/o him attacking you -that is an exploit… Simply because it applies in real life. If you see a giant spider in your back yard and u want to kill it… you bet you want to climb up to your roof and shoot at it.

CoE path 3 - Destroyer Boss

The Destroyer Boss in CoE takes ages to kill it. Is this intented? I think the mechanics are fine (3 people at lasers 2 kill or shoot lasers and everyone goes down). I like the boss, it is a challenge and a good change from other bosses, but it has way too much HP for only being able to hit it for a short time.
Also it is hard to find groups willing to do path 3 because of this boss and if you want groups often the coordination is horrible and someone ragequits.

If the boss had 50% less HP path3 could be done in about the same time as the other paths and groups would be easier to find.

He already has 50% less HP than other legendary bosses.

DPS race boss is cake for guild groups or people that play together often, with any game. I am sure to some people that read this, you had zero issue with it and do not understand why this thread is here. Frankly, my guild has a weak pulse lol. I’m sure plenty of others are in the same boat. Those people that did not get this done and want to have a place to discuss it. People that have completed either 1. do not ever want to run it again. OR 2. They want to charge you for it.

I’ve done it a lot of times, in pugs, mostly carrying baddies. It’s hardly dps race.

Nope, happens regularly. Our guild leader respecs for full glass cannon when he takes a break from 70-80 fractals to help the rest of us progress 20-30, and I’ve watched his damage directly through his stream. Not to mention 8k focus shield explosions and 10k whirling wraths. It’s not quite glass warrior output, but it is frightening.

It’s more than possible. As a full glass you can easily do 12-13k with ww with right pots.

Btw, what’s his stream?

Any hint of upcoming changes to CoF?

I’m pretty sure they will made first boss legendary. This path at the moment has only 2 bosses and only 1 is legendary. Probably some doors closed with silver mobs. Changes similiar to arah3.

Path 4 has the most boring bosses in arah. Length is similiar and only simin is hard for new players, good teams should kill her in 10-15 minutes max (that’s including preparations of tears). Overall, path 4 is faceroll until you encounter simin which is still easy with people that use whatever they have between their ears.

Because i like healing my party with the staff skills like i mentioned in my post. It may be different if i werent mainly specced for party support. But running with pugs i prefer being able to throw some heals for others when i deem it necessary.

Pugs die from single AoE and staff won’t heal that up.

Imo staff is way better than focus for people who never fought him before. From what i remember swirling wind is stationary while you can move with magnetic aura. In combination with everything else staff has to offer i prefer staff.

With focus you don’t even have to dodge anything except his kicks. How’s that worse than a staff? And how immobility of Swirling Winds is a flaw there when it stops all kinds of projectiles, not just his single ones.

What do you think about Elementalists?

P.S: I was doing melee damage to him the whole time with guardian. I don’t see why ppl with no ranged weapons are being kicked from PuGs o.o

Because pugs are made of ignorants. I don’t equip ranged weapon and often stay solo against him (and that’s with dung masters in party).

Alot of people don’t know this, but magnetic aura can reflect Lupi’s projectiles. The damage from the projectiles comes from the AoE explosion after impact. If you manage to reflect them before they hit the ground, they will bounce back at him.

A lot of people don’t know this, but you’re safe from his projectiles in melee range.

Of course you can use a focus if it fits your play style, but i’d consider maintaining long periods of chill on Lupi, long periods of regen, area swiftness, and most importantly, magnetic aura on not only myself, but on my allies a lot more beneficial.

There’s no need for those boons/auras ;p

Meh, I think what the devs said about reducing the difficulty after removing the waypoint rushing is more of an issue.

How is the difficulty an issue? Unless you mean dungeons are already too easy.

Actually it is aoe.

It is aoe, yet you don’t see warrior subforum filled with whining topics about incoming nerf. When anet says about AoE they most often mean skills with large radius, not tiny like magma field or cone skills.

In this topic they have 3 eles at 71 lvl. Good eles are rare bread (similiar to thieves) and most pugs prefer lower skill cap proffesion, that’s all.

And I’m going to keep derailing. As if dodging the grub summon is some secret knowledge. I don’t know if you’ve played Engi or not, but endurance regen is bad, even traiting for perma-vigor. Sigil of Energy wouldn’t cover enough ground to dodge the grubs, his melee attacks, and not be nuked by locusts. That’s just phase 1.

Okay, let’s play. You have enough vigor for phase 1. Locusts don’t deal damage if you are moving constantly. Plus, you could use food that gives 40% perma vigor. In fact, I was using it on my guardian.

How can endurance regen be bad with perma vigor?

If we want to discuss AC, you need a prof capable of the burrows for the first scepter in p1, being in multiple places at once and high cc abilities for p2 (traps and cannons respectively), and again capable of downing burrows quickly for p3. I don’t see any of the actual boss encounters being impossible for any prof, just the intermediary steps to get there.

Weth said it had taken him like 20 tries to do it. So it’s not that easy. Ele had much easier time and I guess engineer with nades might as well.

For path 2, without some exploits, it might be impossible for some proffesions.

Then by all means, go for it (and with grub buffs, even better). I don’t even care if it’s 10x slower than Wes’ warrior, I would like to see it done. I’m not proficient enough on my engi to do it.

One guy posted a commentary vid with soloing lupi, you might learn some stuff that’s apparently a secret knowledge.

Anyway, this thread isn’t about lupi but AC.
