I use FGS everyday. It’s the only elite I ever use. The damage is alright if you have crit damage on all your pieces, especially with fresh air. It makes it so no one can run away from you with 10%, cept maybe a warrior or thief.

Tornado is terrible since you can get condi bombed while in it, and the cd is way too long to use for applicable situations. The knockback doesn’t work that great either, just like gust.

I stopped using dagger/dagger so long ago it’s not even funny. The perks were all stripped from this, and it really has no place outside of organized spvp or gvgs imho. Probably one of the reasons I didn’t bother getting Incinerator also. I can, however, see it being a slightly improved weapon-set after trait patch with the chill on incoming crit.

I’m looking forward to the new trait system, but the condi changes look dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. As someone who only plays elementalist, I don’t like any condi spec for ele at all. It’s extremely slow application of damage that doesn’t last long enough. Only perplexity runes can possibly give it any playability from my perspective. Wtb a damage modifier to blinds. tia

Grats casuals. I would say that a large portion of veterans have become casuals due to how boring and pointless it is to win, or do anything other than try to get a champ/heavy loot bag. Especially with Silverwastes just excrementing out t6 mats at you for no effort, or cost to you, whatsoever.

All the changes mentioned are being kept as part of expansion instead of added to current gameplay, which is lame. There’s not even a release date yet.

Instead we get bugs all over the place with the forever contested towers and keeps. More incentive to go pve.

Previously we could blast with Earthquake, but the new trait-lines show shockwave on Earth attunement in the Evasive Arcana tooltip.

We lose a dodge blast and gain a 1200 range (obstructable) immob and bleed. We still get the cleanse. I think people are missing out on the added usefulness this can provide in x/x weapon sets, and possibly even staff. In staff you can chain 2 ranged immobs while in earth, then a third with a signet in any attunement.

Shockwave also pierces, so it can immob multiple targets along the line between you and your target.

The con is that this is less blasts for staff water fields, and fire fields. And you cannot blast your fire field in x/dagger without using arcane skills or (lol-conjure fire axe-lol). Focus still provides 2 blasts, although blasting with water 5 usually misses the fire field entirely.

The end result is are you going to be uber-pro with shockwave+cleanse, or provide 4 AoE buffs? I guarantee your teammates will prefer you are not using AE anymore.

(Punch me if Shockwave tooltip is just a bug.)

As of yesterday when I unplugged my modem, and turned off all pc’s in the house for 7 straight hours while I was out, then came back and turned it on, and authenticated a new IP, everything seems to have corrected itself.

I’m still using the google DNS, and -clientport 80 settings.

Fingers crossed that it still works today after this patch.

Another thing I noticed is that when I review my login’s in forum account security, it shows NB for New Brunswick, instead of NS, where my actual ISP is.

Since Anet has no clue what is going on I thought I might pitch in a potential fix. Try changing your current DNS to google DNS and see what happens. I’ve been seeing some success so far.

I was curious about this, so I acquired more information:

I entered both the IPv4 and IPv6 sets of addresses.
Upon first logging in I got the 42:something error related to firewall. I simply clicked to login again and it went through.
I loaded Dry Top, Eternal Battlegrounds, Edge of the Mists, but Green Boarderlands has been a loading screen for over 2 minutes now.

I have other computers on the same router, do I need to make the settings switch on them? They do not access games online, though. I might try a restart of PC now.

I just did another ipconfig release>renew as administrator, and was able to log into Dry Top and Eternal Battlegrounds for the first time since patch. So, go figure. I have to restart computer though, because now my mouse buttons aren’t working. lol Another problem I have with WoW Cataclysm mouse.

Edit: While I can get into Ebg now, I can’t enter green boarderlands. lol I can’t win.
The EBG ip that is working for me is 64.25.33.46:0.

Unplugging modem, and renewing ip from cmd line do not work for me.
Guesting to lower pop servers unsticks my characters, but I am never able to enter Eternal Battleground, which sucks, as I mainly play this game for WvW.

Eternal battlegrounds is the only WvW map I can’t log into on my Elementalist. I have alts, but I only ever play my Ele, except to craft. I’m thankful that it’s not every map and still able to do some things.

Not sure if this has any baring, but I updated an Nvidia driver to 340.52, which isn’t a beta.

Don’t buy pre-cursors. By the time you save up 800+ gold, some market flipping guy with all the gold in the world will have doubled the price. There are other skins in the game you can get either for free, or by buying gems instead, that look decent.

My advice is to farm the events bosses and save all the weapons for the mystic forge. Salvage all the armors.

The gem escalation, combined with the insanely high pre-cursors, skins, and certain entertaining items in the TP are a detriment to the game overall.

Buy skins that come with a patch right after the patch comes out. You can find out about them on dulfy.net/category/gw2/ and other sites. Do things like this before the prices escalate. Or use this as a method to potentially make more gold.

Stay informed. Read about all the living story patches coming up next, and previous monthly patches to see if you want to wait for that month to roll around so you can farm a particular item instead of dish out everything you have to get it.

Play a necromancer.

D/Cing while zoning to random places in both WvW and PVE maps. Only logging into another character and back can unstick the one I was using.

Also on Bell Aliant, Nova Scotia. Fibre Ops. I can run numerous other internet connections, but the game is completely screwy now.

Are people really not using strafe? Cause every projectile will hit you whenever your dodge is down.
You can really dance around melee with a, d as strafe instead of as turning. Mouse turning is instant and faster. This allows strafe+turn+lightning whip.
I made f = aoe loot, and shift+f interact.
I don’t use ctrl or alt for anything. To me that is very awkward. I don’t use any of the function keys in any game.
Map, lf, autorun, autoattack, heal are all on my mouse.

Personal WvW experience of “meta”[ For me DD solo roam EBG is 0/4/0/4/6 (20% cd reduc). And 4/2/0/2/6 for zerker staff, with 0/2/0/6/6 bunker staff (this is excellent for kiting btw – even solo). The only 2 rune sets I bother with are traveler and scholar. Been a year with this. In spvp I use different runes all the time to test stuff. I have 7 str runes sitting in the bank, but I don’t want to put it over the other 2 sets. What’s meta for others doesn’t work for me. Celestial trinkets let you survive with less cleanses. I swap to cav trinkets for zele staff to bring the toughness up closer to 1600 so I’m still able to kite without blowing every cd to do it. But that’s WvW. ]

Re: OP – I’ve tested tempest defense once in spvp. It seemed to work, but I couldn’t tell how often. When I switched to fresh air to test that, I felt like I was getting killed a lot faster even with all the air procs. Maybe I will test it some more. The spec you use is something I can get on-board with, although I can’t get into frostbow, but I can see it as a nice range option/ vuln stack for support. My tests were with battle/doom, but leeching seems like a better option, especially with the healing power being over 500, and using the practically required ether renewal. Just knowing that you’re having great success with TD, I’m anxious to go play it some more, so thanks. I was looking for some inspiration today. lol

TBH I’ve never used ibow 5+LF. Does it always hit stealth if channeled before they go invis?

I like s/f vs mez as the clones can’t even hit you. d/f vs hambow for evades, cc, immunity, might. d/d or staff for solo/group roaming, and spvp.

AoE, CF, LF, and replace cf for mf or as vs large groups. 99% is FGS, and odd occasion of Tornado for extra stab/ staff burst. AS is especially good vs telegraphed skills from rifle warrior, lbow ranger, and engie. It provides extra damage for melee range just like CF does.

My hard fights lately are multiple thieves spamming interrupt + condies, and necro condi bombing, fear bombing, and stripping stab so I can’t clease, while another dps strips away the remaining health. I barely get 1v1s in gold league. If I do, I usually win unless it’s a warrior that engages just after I killed someone else. Or one of those condies for days engies. A full zerker/good ele has a chance with d/d. Condi Mesmer has a chance if I’m running MF cause it doesn’t do anything for me but stun break, speed boost.

Use LF to LoS to buy time to heal up. Stay above 10k health at all times. If you have narrow escapes, read combat log to see who did what, and with what skill(s).

Three months of building ballistas? That’s dedication. I save all my ballistas for gvgs.

The next garrison upgrade from ranks should add torpedoes that shoot at people in the ruins.

They need to add tracks to EOTM, like spvp has, so we can unlock more ugly skins, and collect 20000 more empyreal fragments.

Eotm is fun with people from your server grouped up. It’s a change from the stagnant WvW scenario based on spending money, and hilariously ill-designed leagues.

I like that. The pull. You could pull them into range to do the knockback that was out of range if they kept running away.

I feel we shouldn’t be able to be targeted by anything other than aoe ground effects. Applying conditions and cc to a tornado is just silly. SILLY!

I wonder how many of the devs play this game because they find it fun, rather than because it’s their job.

Instead of just tracking servers overall, track individual performance.
There’s no real addictive qualities to WvW or Eotm right now.
The only concrete enjoyment is farming loot, but that doesn’t really make you feel like you’re gaining anything unless you get a lot of rares or better that particular day.

Need more things to do with rank points after maxing out stuff at gold.

Claiming keeps in Eotm does nothing at all.

I’ve been using shift+s to dodge for over a year. A and D are strafe left and right.
If you aren’t getting enough vigor to dodge, you can get more from water and arcane skills, and energy sigil.

How about have it so the attunement you enter tornado from adds properties to the tornado.
Air = Blind
Fire = Fire storm (added burn damage)
Water = cleanse whoever you pass over
Earth = aoe bleeds

Also, our knockback needs a much larger radius.

A lot of your phoenix damages were wasted cause you were moving foward and they were cast to the side. To get the most from it, you need to put it behind someone, which is hard to do without immob.

I would have released the rocks into combos more often to get the true s/d burst. It would kickstart fresh air.

Vs the ele at least: hurl>air>rtl>updraft>fire>phoenix>lf>fire grab>air>1,2,3>earth>earthquake.

I would have only used ether renewal vs the mesmer.

But anyway, there’s no point to showcase condi vs mesmer. That just takes a fight that should last 30s and makes it last 2 mins while your condis do practically nothing.

That first guy that responded was right. These guys you’re fighting are bad. And so are you quite frankly. There’s no comboing might at all to give you further boost. It’s just swapping to do random skills.

First video mesmer is running away with 10% and instead of finishing him with fire grab you swap attunements. Also, you could have immob’d people low with that earth signet. But nope.
If I got to fight AM all week I’d be making videos, too. Blooper videos.

Just remember that air is the stationary attunement if you just want to fire off some autos between burst. You know, unless you’re a glassy staff ele, which you’d want to be in fire using 1 and 2 as much as possible.

A lot of ele mains probably won’t learn anything from this video, but there has been a lot more people playing spvp lately with the new reward system and patch’s wide variety of changes. It’s always good to see how other eles are playing the same thing. You clearly state you aren’t the best, and play other classes in the video. I responded with situational plays on youtube that may help you and others just starting to enjoy playing ele now, or again.

There is no better spec than what you’ve shown, only alternatives for other situations. We’ve probably, most of us, used most, if not all, of the variants. Namely choosing Earth’s Embrace over Elemental Shielding because it will give stability to kite, a dodge to kite/avoid, protection, and regen all from Soothing Disruption that you’ve already spec’d into. Very handy, but a far longer cd of 60s rather than 9s swap to air for a 25s cd of shocking aura, a 40s cd of water for frost aura, a magnetic grasp over a fire field for a fire aura, for an average of 12s of protection, and 7 might from the combination setting that up. From testing a full engagement on heavy armor dummy, I had 13 stacks of might by the time it was dying, and protection was just wearing off.

In response to Lex and Arct:

Mist form breaks every useful combo, except for dodge in water, for a very short cd (invuln 3s), that does nothing to remove the condis on you, that will probably kill you even while still in mist form. Whereas if you used cleansing flame (remove 3 condis, apply aoe burn, suffer half the cooldown), you would live.

The only time you want to use it in air is on a stomp so you don’t have to waste a cantrip. And this is the time when you’re in melee range to get use out of it. A 240 radius wouldn’t be too much to ask, though. It is supposed to be an aoe after all.

Renewal is a full heal when you use clerics. Your hp is low to begin with. I’ve used it with several different weapons and wondered who just healed me from 10%, but it was all that sigil. And using a staff without energy is going to get you killed because dodge is the best defense you can have as any class. Be happy that energy sigil is free in pvp, instead of the 3x price it jumped to in the TP after patch.

If you’re playing with a team then that full heal spec is good, otherwise you’ll want more damage, because you’ll be bored most likely. I tend to run s/f w/celestial for no-low deaths and still apply pressure in hotjoin/sq.

The give-aways made it impossible to read any feedback on the match as it was going. In fact, I missed half of the coverage in the last fight (the good one), because I was ADDing on the chat that I wasn’t even a part of.

I like the jump pads. As an ele, I have very little to make people fall through the floor, or knock them off the side, and spend 90% of the time on and around B. The jump pads are fun. The rest is a nightmare vs almost every other class. Tornado is so hard to land the knockback.
