Why do people say score doesn't matter?

score truly means nothing. As the screen print ive shown. The winning team has scored far less in personal score overall. Also ive have scored the lowest in personal score over and yet put out the most dps in the group.

You can choose what you want to believe but the idea that the more points you personally score actually means something is the illusion. While in fact you could be actually hurting your team by point hunting.

I still run old school staff ele earth water arcane and do rather well with it.

I also still run old school mace-sheild/ greatsword warrior power defense discipline.

I also still run 1/2 kits and 1/2 drink things on the engy but thats cause i like to use range.

this is the exact same build i ran except for the rune. Unfortunately it just doesnt stack up there for me.

I used in the same way to since i only tried to engage in mostly 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2. In 3 v plus fights and trying to escape this build kind of gets ran threw the mud and also the staff tempest you will see with any premade will make life seem unfair.

I rune a power hammer revanent rune of strength and 94% crit chance with air and fire sigils. I take down people in team fights fast though i get countered by anything thats decent in 1 vs 1.

Ive had matches were people didnt come after me and im like a pew pew ranger on steroids so thats always great. When people realize its me doing all the damage i get targeted and i pray to lyssa a chance to land 1 or 2 big hits.

Hammer Revs are the first thing I look for the solo queue, they are devastating if let to free cast

hahaha it is so much fun. Im currently running a pure glass rev and i literally stand as far away as possible. They attack the DH or necro who is usually fighting at the circle and im trying to hide in a corner.

I had this DS ele rage and tell me i was crap cause i landed a 8k hammer with both air and fire sigil go off on him and literally drop him in 1 hit since everyone was focusing him.

This game makes you mad but it definitely has its really fun moments when you want to run a gimmicky build.

A reason i disagree is because LOL and dota have hundreds on champions to choose from but to play at a elite level its the same 4-5.

I agree there needs to be more counters and more builds to play since there are not hundreds of champions to goof off on. Though this MMO has the best paced and visually stunning graphics and with that they can easily become esports.

The biggest problem to me is getting the average player to jump on and watch. The skill level is this game is very high and because of that you will get average players who will leave for something simpler in a moba. The question becomes how to get those people into the game.

Why was druid pushed out? I find myself winning duels on the celestial avatar build (but modified for longbow and staff instead and traits are the same except I put in the pet skill causes weakness ability since I don’t use a greatsword except on guardian occasionally and he’s strictly PvE…for now) and can last awhile so long as I’m not focused and interrupted all the time.

Its just flavor, ROM has shown that he wins a heavy majority of 1 vs 1. Druid is in a good spot.

Your idea is fine and the current one is fine. Its just the real problem was people use to have to make a choice when they knew they were gonna fight a warrior.

Before you had to choose a offense/defense/ condi clear utility skill which made for fair 1 vs 1 game play. Now every class but a stun breaker, added stability with added sustain. So many classes got added defensive stats like scrapper and ele with healing on swiftness and 40% protection. The added dmg and stability for reaper and warriors already couldnt beat thieves 1 vs 1 and thieves got added dps and dodge.

What your suggesting is fine if your looking to just re-haul the class but it wont change anything. Landing a skill crack or any of the hammer skills still wont knock anyone down and warriors still wont be able to set up a burst attack on axe or gs.

For everyone bringing real sports as a example. Dont forget the USA vs russia in russia Olympic gold medal game. Doug Collins has spoken about it a few times and that USA team didnt go to the medal ceremony and those silver medals are still sitting somewhere.

For something to be a PROFESSIONAL SPORT like gw2 is trying to do now. It has to have equal parts of ability of play. The ability for defense and offense to have a chance to dictate a match. This game has to be like a NBA 5 vs 5 where 1 year a defensive Dallas Mavericks with 1 star player can win it. OR a collection of superstars in there primes like the Heat with Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris bosh. Or simple 5 guys who play together and even though there past there primes teamwork and communication can still allow them to dominate like the San Antonio Spurs.

Atm GW2 is nothing like this, every team and there mother played bunker mesmer since it was the best bunker build. I could go on about the other classes but atm this games balance doesnt have the ability to be a pro level game. It can easily get there but it will take anet some creative thinking to give multiple classes to play multiple play styles with in a team setting.

This game has gradually moved towards less and less counterplay, where pvp is based on hard-mitigation (blocks, invulns, evades) that lack counters (or many of them), instant skills (or extremely low cast times), heavy boon-spam making everyone more tanky and damage-y, and passive procs. Long gone are the days of deliberate combat, where big effects had big tells, and you needed to put more thought in what you do. Instead, you can just spam everything, and almost nothing is worth interrupting b/c it all does the same damage (or is instant and can’t be).

Thats with just the HOT, before the HOT there were just small things people wanted more tells about. Hot turned it into this.

I’d just like to point out that there was 2 tank Mesmers per team, except for ZC, and ezpz, only having 1 per team. Bunker mesmer really needs more adjusting than just a little bit of its block duration removed.

I’d personally suggest not allowing to hold a cap with precog well, nerf perma alacrity, and dont change the block duration, just make it so there arent 2 blocks.

Durability Runes also need a change that is more than just reducing its boon duration by 5% which is a bug fix.

Anet likes this balance which is why no changes needed. A new meta will come out in like 3 months and it will probably be like this again with some other classes.

Team Conquest is 5v5, not 1v1

  • Why would you 1v1 an ele on point if you play a condition class?
  • Rotate?

It doesn’t always work out that way. In an ideal setting, with perfect communications and rotations you won’t have to, but there have been a few times in coordinated teams where I’ve played wanderer’s and had to hold a point against a tempest until fights elsewhere on the map could be resolved so that I could switch off with someone or get a +1. Since switching to Viper reaper I haven’t noticed to be as much of an issue if I time my condi bombs in the very brief moment of vulnerability before the tempest heals up, but if I ran anything else, like cele, carrion, or wanderer especially it felt a lot harder to not be hardcountered.

Wakkey played bunker mes today, abjured ditched tempest, though they might come back to it pending the “balance changes”.

Thank you for the update, when i saw they were running the same comp and they got up 100-5 7 minutes into the first match i quit watching.

So to correct my statement, watch the first week of the ESL and you will see wakkey get killed on DS skin ele. Explain that

Wait what? are you kidding me? Did you not see the great play made by people.

Like one bunker was almost dead then another player came over and dropped wells and ele came over and healed him and everyone was like wow the bunkers are back to full health.

Can you believe it the score is 15-0 6 minutes into a match and not only that every team ran 2 mesmers 2 revs and a ele. My goodness i cant wait till next money to watch this all over again.

Its like Fantasy Sports where everyone has the exact same team.

Not having fun watching teams run the same comps, same never-ending fights, and it has even taken the excitement of close games out. Which is quite amazing imo, because close games used to be exciting and fun. Now nobody dies, nodes don’t flip as often, it’s just Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Just run 2 minions and if you dont want to change your build to counter it i dont know what to say.

For instance i run old school staff ele and i still run stone heart instead of diamond skin. My team asked me to switch since its “better” ( wink wink) very next match we got 2 dps revs instead of condi revs. On ts i was like wow thanks guys. They were like everyone runs condi rev and bunker condi mesmers.

If not 1 person on the team is dps maybe you should make the switch to counter the build. I mean its 5 vs 5 i dont know why people are struggling against diamond skin.

I love the idea of leagues and totally agree that soloq players are getting the short end of the stick. I think the biggest problem is the pip system itself and how pips are rewarded and taken away. There is supposed to be logic to it, but I feel we need to see that logic up front so we know what we’re getting into when we start a match.

I think the league system would of been fine had they from the start base everything off of division.

For instance the first week new players would be facing elite players till they get to the next division. Premade players who rush to emerald and sapphire would only seen each other until. other players got there.

Another big thing is diamond players teaming up with embers to face weaker opponents. This should of never happened as the league should be playing to the top league player. So if you have 1 diamond 3 sapphires and a ember that team should face all rubys or 3 rubys a sapphire and a diamond.

The losing of of pips/tiers and the suggested of losing tiers when people are posting pics of solo ques facing full abjured, full pz, full car crash, full ORNG is not a place we should be heading. Being that this league is only in place for 2 months the question becomes what kind of reward system do we want on the PiP system.

Obviously we are not gonna get another MMR based leader board and we should be rewarding players who play the game. Therefore if we are gonna have a “REAL” pro league it has to be fair for everyone from the start.

I agree resetting MMR would have been amazing, but Anet doesn’t seem want to do that.

I hoping some type of hotfix might implemented with the Wintersday update. I’m doubtful, but there is plenty of evidence that they have a framework, but it still needs tweaking. Even if they added the information that the last On Point said was already in the system about what scores people need to not lose a pip. That would at least curb my frustration and give me an idea of what the system is expecting of me.

^ that’s only the case in SoloQ, not premades – Tournament play.

  1. You wont beat a Rev 1v1 unless you go off meta and spec to a build that counters Rev but under performs everywhere else in PvP. Likea burn burst guard or something.
  2. Their dmg to sustain ratio on Viper amulet, a burst amy, is second to none.
  3. They pretty much out-perform other classes in skirmish fights with the right comp. Revs offer great single target damages, can be “bunky” on a burst amulet, is mobile, and has moderate cc.
  4. Best of all… his skills and rotations are incredibly hard to read and counter effectively.

Bunk Mesmer
Basically a beefed up prepatch Bunker Guardian back when Bunker Guard was able to self-sustain a 1v2 point, only better. I’d hardly call a punching bag OP but.. they’re the best bunker class atm so they technically are op in that realm.

Rev wins the comparison, imo.

i disagree because noscoc on necro, magic toker on thief and rom on druid have all 1 vs 1 vs this OP rev but absolutely no one has killed a mesmer 1 vs 1. Chaith was able to win the fight by decapping and eventually capping but he never killed the mesmer.

Because of the ESL leagues people in game copy catting in game. Im seeing premade guild teams when i solo que with 2 rev 2 bunk mesmers and a scrapper/ele.

Bunker mesmer is more op to me for these reasons.

How I've been successful in Solo

This build is not good enough.

Im glad you guys made it to a certain level and im glad others say its easy to get sapphire but im sorry if i come off as negative.

The first 2 weeks of PvP if i ran with a premade i faced other elite level premades. When i solo qued i faced guild premades and reg team premades. This build lacks the sustain and the ability to constantly apply condi dmg.

In 1 vs 1 on corners you should lose to every class being thieves remove condi on dodge. The constant pressure from a d/d condi build would overwhelm you and the staff build is about setting up dps which you have no counter for. Revs apply more condi and quicker and apply more dps by simply switching to a different champion.

Druids with boon shares with pets could literally eat your condi since 3 will go to the pet and with staff they get constant healing and 500+ with healing on glyph use and bleeding is the weakest form of condi dot which is also the easiest for you to apply.

I could go on but simply put this is very similar to alot of the builds alot people tried out before the PvP league started and this stuff never works against people who immediately see what you are know what to do. All the new classes got range and warrior got a torch. Simply strafing when you attack will make you miss alot of your attacks if there able to strafe and head backwards.

So congratulate you on finding a build that works for you but this would not help me at all. Especially in team fights when warriors are targeted first. I truly dont know how in a solo que how you are surviving with minimal amounts of condi removal,lack of range, lack of speed, and no big burst dmg. Any person fighting you would literally have to let you kill them.

Any thief should be able to shadow step away and heal and come back. Any druid could fully heal in cele form. Any rev should be able to switch and get over 4 sec of resistance just from that heal and utility skill on one champion. Any ele from the old fresh air,staff,d/d, to the new shout build isnt worried about this at all. Scrappers would out sustain this easy and maintain a full stack of 25 might/fury/protection and stability. Druids and necros are the 2 best 1 vs 1 classes base line in the game.

I am though happy for you and your success with it.

Solo que for this league would of been awesome especially for the casual player.

2- the league system you are talking about doesnt work either. My 3 man team qued up and we had 2 players who couldnt win there fights off point and kept going for lord at 100 and 210. Im suppose to lose tiers/divisions/pips because we have 2 players on our team who literally can not do anything?

If you want a league like this where wins gain ranks. Then MMR needed to be flat lined for everyone so. For the first few 2 weeks of the season complete new people should of been facing pro players until those players next to the next division. You are simply talking about the streaks needed to either get to a higher division and the current inability to lose a division. You also said you dont que unless with a 5 man premade, so your in sapphire near ruby and me and my fellow amber solo que players beat your 5 man team. Are we really amber or simply the divisions truly mean nothing?

A better explanation about how you would like to see the whole system would of been better.

your 3rd point needs alot more explaining from what you want this feature to do. Obviously creating a new team to get faster que times against easier opponents is lame but have guild teams fight premade teams is the idea. Anet just poorly executed everything about leagues. The feature itself isnt bad but simply not working the way it should.

sure, you can blame ANet for the match system and the league structure, but these pro players abuse a loophole because “there’s no written rules SPECIFICALLY not allowing that” is just as bad.

But then again, with a limited size of the PvP community, and probably losing players than attracting new players due to the current issues, I guess there’s no point to give a crap, from ANet, Pro players down to the casual players. The game mode might be dead in a year, if ANet cant figure out what made DOTA2 and LoL success stories with frequent balance patch and good system and mechanics that cater to casuals and hardcore players.

you cant blame the pro players for taking advantage of a bad system.

Something to take notice is if you go back to the old solo que leaderboard and look at the guys who all ranked in the top 25 at one point. I know a few and none of them have embraced the PvP league.

When talking to them they all said the same thing. Anet hasnt fixed PvP at all. Still no leaderboard, still cant que outside hotm, still didnt fix MM, balance is gross. Each had there own little things to say but all said why bother basically.

You can still see a few of the ESL players still in emerald division which basically means people really dont care about grind league since it doesnt truly show skill level and without a actual leader board what is even the point? Helseth sat in emerald division while watching people he knows hes better then get to ruby.

Why the bunk meta sucks

I don’t see bunker mesmer pushing any profession outside the meta.
Remember the dd ele able to bunk vs 2 forever while dishing outstanding damages…
It is surprising to see no problem raised from abjured at this stage. We were seing sucessfull 5 dd ele team in esl tournaments….but no problem.
Now we see a profession stacked in mass since hot release which simply replaces warriors thiefs and medi guardians. Guess what…it is not the mesmer.
First problem is rev. Once this monster which destroys every zerker / marauder build is toned down…you will see more class able to down a bunker mesmer.
Mesmer bunker coming in meta is the simple consequence of everything else being wrecked by rev.

But OK let’s nerf mesmer so we can build succesfull 5 Rev teams.

See this is incorrect simply based off the ESL leagues. We have seen caed on thief, toker on thief, noscoc on necro and rom on druid win 1 vs 1 against revs and do it faster then facing a bunker build.

Also the warrior in the match didnt do much. He capped home and he took there beast. The person who capped our home didnt know whether he wanted to come mid or go beast and he actually sat in between for a sec and decided to go beast which the warrior stole. They then began a fight off point and no clue what happened from there.

A 100 to 20 lead turns crazy when you seem to be winning a mid fight but simply cant take out 2 people when you still have all 4 of your people going after them.

In game mode where the focus and main part is to cap point..you expect not to face bunkers?

Asking to nerf a set of bunkers does nothing because Anet will simply introduce another, you win by reaching first 500 pts and capping key areas give the most points..it’s a no brainer.

And before you think about DM….think courtyard nothing more

i have no problem with bunkers but when 1 mesmer can go 1 vs 3 for a good 45 sec

come on……. bunker guardian couldnt do this. You cant name a bunker before this HOT that could take stacks of confusion and torment from 1 rev, dps from the other rev and burns/bleeds and chill from a ele. It took 3 of us to kill 1 mesmer longer then 4 people to kill the other 2 people on the team.

In the abjured match vs final form chaith said he and nos made a mistake trying to go 2 vs 1 a bunker mesmer. Name a build pre-hot where 2 players using 2 of the best builds in the game and when there 2 of the best players in the game cant kill 1 player.

No meta has been this bad, ill take the last meta especially after the d/d nerf over this any day.

Ive gotten to the point of dailies and im done but todays match was something.

Im in a 3 man team and we are fighting a 5 man team. They have scrapper 2 mesmers 1 tempest and 1 warrior.

At the mid fight it was incredibly long and we thought we were winning. We killed the ele first and then we killed a mesmer before the tables had turned on us. It was a 4 vs 4 fight at mid and it had gone over 5 min but we got the first 2 kills and we were unable to kill the scrapper and other mesmer. The 2 we killed before eventually came back and they killed our 4 fighting at mid.

This match continued to be a 2 cap hold for them for the rest of the match. I was on old school staff ele and my 2 team mates running the meta rev. when th0 score got to 480-28o we were like wow. We tried overloading far with all 5 and then us 3 would peel of and go to mid to kill the sitting mesmer but we couldnt kill him fast enough to even decap it. We would get him but then the army and at far whe had left would still be able to hold it.

This sucks when you cant even change the outcome of 1 cap point. I really hope in the next ESL Pro league game that 1 of the teams just says screw it and runs 5 bunker mesmers or 3 bunker mesmers and 2 never ever dies bunkers.

They truly are like the 92 dream team. There like the starting lineup of stocton,jordan,pippen,barkely and robinson.

The rest of the teams will struggle with this comp probably because they are not seeing it the same way where as the abjured after that 1st match i can only guess all 5 were thinking the same thing.

GW2 has the best mechanics of any pc game i know of. Conquest is a great PvP imo as well. Forces alot more strategies.

I think what has happened is Anet put out a bad expansion and its just snowballed.

Its not even that the expansion is bad. So many great ideas but everything seems like grinding which isnt fun.

So to answer your question, i do enjoy PvP. I am though not enjoying GW2 atm.

Warrior forums as been a dead zone for quite some time.

Lol because everyone caught the hint.

Thats gonna happen to every place in the game. PvE players are not happy. WvW players are not happy. PvP players are not happy.

Its seriously at every level and its getting to the point where for most of us. It might be time to take a 3-6 month break from GW2 since anet might be thinking everything is ok.

99% of my playtime in Gw2 is queues.

This is a PRO league yet we cant even get people games. I dont understand why the game simply just doesnt put you with lower ques vs a lower premade.

This is so wrong and the question at this point is how do we get a point across to anet? Maybe if everyone quit playing PvP? I know the PvP Pro league teams are trying to win money but what if they came together and said hey fix the game.

I dont know because your not the only person who has this problem and its a real shame.

Caed’s thief was one of the only interesting things going on too, imo.

My guild entered into the 2 ToL tournaments (we could because it wasnt on a weekday)
and the 2 teams we lost 2 were the abjured and team risk.

Watching toker and caed crush on thieves has been a highlight on the NA pro scene and your right about that being the most interesting thing in the league.

I mean EZ PZ lemon squeezy straight up said screw it we will just go meta builds and they won which is what makes what toker and caed did that much more awesome.

Hello i will give out info on my guild on crystal desert borderland

  • So we have about 15-25 active members of the guild with others randomly popping in. 10 or so use to WvW
  • We dont do any of this ( very rarely did we do things on the home borderland)
  • We have spent 1-2 upgrades on WvW. It is unfair to the rest of the guild to get WvW upgrades over the other stuff. We got the xp,karma,mf bonuses and nearly fully upgraded the PvP room. We are a small guild but our guild hall is at 25 atm and are waiting for atherium for the next upgrades.
  • We have lost all the people who WvW. 6-7 of them have not logged in for 3-4 weeks. These were players who have over 1200 WvW levels and when these changes were put in place they did not find them fun. We upgraded the guild hall PvP area especially for them since they could goof around in there but without those upgrades they got bored and havent been around since.

To the 2nd part of this question, everyone wanted something new. We all paid $100 for a expansion and we all wanted new things for each of the areas. Not my words but the WvW members felt this was a money grab by anet. GW2 being so great when it was first released. We kind of expected something fresh and inventive so this was not as expected.

  • This is not my place to make decisions. Its up to the people who make the game to change the game for the better. Many people here will have ideas but if it isnt doesnt correctly or in there vision we will once again be having this same problem.

As a guild we have not done any WvW activities for over 2 weeks now, where before we used to be there for reset night and 1 other night a week not including the new guild missions for how short that lasted.

Edit- Just a side comment about upgrading guilds halls. I find it odd that everything was PvE based. WvW upgrades needed farming PvE. PvP upgrades needed PvE. Not a little but a ton of stuff not for the upgrade which has made no sense to me aswell as the slow progression to the new class spec profession in WvW and none in PvP. Alot of what would make a guild hall great for a guild coming together wasnt there at all. It feels like grinding PvE because it is.

So I just got to sapphire by solo-queueing, and I have a total of 35 PvP League Tickets, if I spent the next month getting to Ruby I would have a total of 55 tickets earned this league season. It takes a total of 270 tickets to get a lavish llama, and assuming I only get to ruby every league season I would only get 55 tickets every 2 months, meaning it would take a year for me to get a lavish llama.

Is there any way to get tickets other than moving up a league level? Seems like requiring a year for casual players (assuming getting to Ruby is casual) to get the lavish llama is a bit much.

It’s funny because it reinforces that meta. It goes from pro league to metabattle to the players.

DH and reaper are more than great.

Today me and some guild mates wanted to do the PvP guild missions so we did.

We ran old school staff ele- old school dps ranger- cele glyph druid- MM shout necro- and bunker mesmer.

The first people we target is necros then dh. The mesmer is popping them up, the ele puts the condi on and the ranger uses that longbow range. They quickly die and we play for 3 cap. We won 5 straight with our 5 man team. Any team that had a dh or reaper we kind of stomped.

I know what you will say about us crushing crap players but they just dont stand up well against the constant pressure. helseth was asked why a change was made from necro and rev and he said that the rez button on his keyboard had started to break.

These 2 classes crushes lower tier solo que levels but when you get 5 vs 5 where everyone is on the same page. They are just not as good.

Current meta for GW2 sPvP according to MetaBattle Wiki (the site ArenaNet recommends we follow) has been reduced to five builds.

Scrapper
Tempest
Herald
Chronomancer
Druid

As pointed out by recent posting by ESL Pro team APEX Prime team captain, the most optimal (read OP) combination to use is

Herald – Condi Mayllx x2
Chronomancer – Bunker x2
Tempest – Auramancer

Not only is the most optimal config boring and not fun, it’s just horrible that this combination and this reduced set of classes dominate PvP. When people cry that PvP is broken. When the meta is broken it destroys everything else. Fun for the best players is deluded. On the bottom end, you have match making algorithm that does not consider build choice so it’s likely to get combinations where although MMR is matched well, build composition (Elite meta vs old meta) is now giving one non-premade an advantage over the other (this is in a system that already is matching pre-mades to non-premades often). Complete unbalanced kitten and ArenaNet is doing nothing at all…

ArenaNet, please acknowledge your multiple failures on sPvP balance and the overall League system. An apology to your play base would be appropriate. Please clean house internally on those who did this to sPvP and hire experienced talent from Blizzard or some other company competent with balance.

A bit over the top with the cleaning house thing.

Also why dont you just play a blizzard game?

No clue why they haven’t followed other pro league games and just lock class stacking… the very least, same classes with similiar specs.

Would have fixed double Ele comps back when Abjured abused it.
Will better this meta; Devs wouldn’t have to struggle so much with the balances.
Lastly, it would diversify things a little. 5 completely seperate classes/builds/amulets per team = a more balanced game.

Imo, Ez Pz were utilizing the worse comp imaginable, having builds with minimum condi cleanses against a condi comp team. Like to see a Necro, a good DH and an Ele against those 3 Revs.

I already tried, most of the responses are just vile anyways.

Asking Anet to fix classes is what there suppose to do unless they want people to quit the game. Acting like a problem isnt a problem helps nothing. The game doesnt have to be perfect but has to be playable for all classes.

I will never ask a player to switch classes. This is a game and people should be allowed to play what they want.

We really should be asking more from anet. We have all paid for the GW2 and/or HOT expansion and we should be asking for more then we got. Its not the players fault anet killed warriors,thieves,PvP, PvE, WvW.

All around the game people are asking for changes and anet has simple not dont there job. Pre hot i was in 3-4 thief teams and won.

I see ppl hate condi as it’s not fun like pure direct dmg
But also 3 ppl zerging doing fast dmg can be boring eventually

The game needs more tactical decision making and not pure build excellence

I vote for 1 class for each team.
Also maybe each player must fill in 1 role so no for 2 bunker or 2 condi or full sustain party like
Roamer
Dmg dealer
Bunker
Condi dealer
Sustain
Support
Etc
Or some other variant
Than the game can be more interesting

The first part I agree 100% with, the 2nd part not so much. What you just described in the 2nd part is GW1, and those were 8 person teams; which was great. But GW2 was build around the concept that all classes can do all things to some extent. For that to work Conquest would be all kinds of screwed up.

so just different class wont push the meta to shift because as you said gw2 want every class to be able to play every build and role. thus i think we need to think about roles and not class

like in basketball

you have 5 roles :
point guard
shooting guard
small forward
power forward
center

you dont see 5 point guard….

so try to implement it in gw2 5v5 pvp
each team has to create 5 roles and play with them

how to do it its a different story

maybe for each role the is 3 amulet and 10 rune to choose from and once been chosen no one can choose the same

I would just like to say this statement is incorrect from a basketball point of view. The position of the players dont matter all.

You see a team like golden state with there 4rth quarter lineup and its 1 guard 2 sg and 3 sf. Which is different from a Spurs team or mavericks who do run a traditional lineup. Neither one better then the other but simply who is playing better that game determines the outcome.

If this game was perfect it would be just like basketball. The problem with this game is 1 class and style is far superior over the others. In basketball its far less about the positions but the ability to support the star and the chemistry of the players who work together.

Obviously in a game you cant have Hakeem or dirk who carry average players to a championship but what we can at least expect from a esports game is for each class/play style to be effective at something.

So far in this game for balance they havent been able to figure out give and take at all. Its truly unfortunate that this game is at its current state since it was so close to balance previous to HOT. A small hit to D/D eles and the introduction of some new runes and ammys would of made this game perfect from a PvP aspect. The introduction of HOT has thrown this game into a black hole with no end in sight.
