If we are being honest here the HOT expansion costed the same as GW2 and it is far less. I obviously paid for it since they come out with story and updates like the living story and scarlett saga.
But when GW2 first came out omg all the servers were filled in the PvE, PvP was different and really fun and WvW was crazy. We got used to all of it and then they never added anything. They added stronghold, some huge WvW maps no one uses and resetted fractals. Lol PvE and specs and the rev is really all the Hot is.
Defiant Stance < Infuse Light
Defiant Stance doesn’t heal off of conditions, but will prevent them from being applied.
Infuse Light heals off of all damage you take. Plus they have another heal they can use right after if they wanted to…Kind of booty if you ask me. They should both go on CD.

Im wondering if people who use rev more then i could add to the glint heal skill.
As for defiance stance it just says incoming strikes so yes i guess it could be just strikes but i tried to combo it. So im at a mid fight vs a Reaper and ele and i used both stances and when beserker stance ended i popped the heal. I was at 11k health and they applied 7 stacks of burns and 9 stacks of psn and 15 stacks of chill and i healed to 13k and i get 1853 heal on initial heal. So i might of gained a little over 500 over the 3 1/2 sec they unloaded on me.
If this is the same as the rev skill im fine but it seriously feels different.
The healing skill on warrior, is it working as intended? I dont seem to heal off of condi dmg and i feel like i do off of the revs infuse the light heal skill. I could be mistaken.
I thought they were supposed to be a choice; optional. But, you are severely hobbling yourself by not traiting in them. The majority of them are so op or far to strong compared to the originals, you’d be crazy not to spec..especially if you are a Guard, Reaper or Chrono.
The irony in that giving us more “choice” they actually gave us less lol.

The 18 champion and kill 2 lords is so stupid. Make it about winning seriously, the rank points is fine. My guild we ran 2 matches and had like 5 min ques but we dominated teh matches 500-100 in each so we were able to get them. Still its kind of donkey for them to do stuff not around actual tactics.
I do find it intersting that WTS 1 he was on the Abjured and they won with OE. WTS 2 they replace OE with NOS who uses necro. Now OE is using necro, i know im really digging into it but i find it to be a interesting story.
Chaith just mentioned this on his stream. He said they wanted Nos and it was between Chaith and Oeggs as to who got benched.
Lol it doesnt really matter since all that matters was who was kicked. Also he finally found a team that can compete at a high level so its very entertaining for me. Its kind of like when the Dallas Mavericks let go of Steve Nash and then he went to phoenix and eliminated dallas in the playoffs that year. Dont know if that will happen but it will be interesting to see.
And also for the love of warriors, please do something for their sustain!
Fix the stupid amounts of power creep on everything else and warrior is fine. Sure, you could buff warrior but that just continues down this path towards every skill either being an invuln, full heal, or 1-shot KO that we are on now.
That doesnt help anything. The druids in final form basically didnt die in both matches. Also the bunker eles here didnt die often either so the “pwer creep” doesnt fix warrior at all.
Warriors problems comes from if there forced into traits. If you want to do dmg you have to have pwr/dis if you want axe you have to have pwr/ potentially arms for fast hands. If you want healing you need defense. If you want adrenaline and boons you have to have discipline.
Also average and below average players cried for nerfs for rampage a 1 trick pony we all know but then they gave it to engy and engy could actually us it better then warrior and then to top it off they gave engy a 3 sec moa for it. Even before the HOT came out warrior was quickly falling out and only die hards were using in AG/ESL tournaments.
Side note about P2W, you have to realize its pay to win at the ESL level not the every where else. Also its still the same elite players from the old tournaments dominating again. Its not like some average joes walked in and became good at this. This isnt some time based moba like LOL or Dota you actually have to be good at this game to be good.
I actually really liked watching the team with the double druid double chrono setup. Interesting to watch unusual setups like that.
The funny thing about that match for me was they were losing like 84-0 and then they got a 2 cap and it was over. They tried to make a change and went to Dh but that resulted in a bigger loss.
Why it was so funny for me was because they didnt die in like either of the matches. Really intense team fights where they didnt even come close to dying.
There are so many things i found interesting when the the commentators got to pz and apex. Like they briefly mentioned that zoose and muffins returned for Team PZ. They are awesome players but they were just barely mentioned and they they brought up OE and went on about him and the Abjured which was great.

I dont know about anyone else but they were actually entertaining especially the Apex vs PZ matches.
A few things i wish they would do more which is the announcers calling players out. I know we are in a pc world now but when heurix basically ranked the necros 1-4 and i would actually like it more if they were more honest. Calling out players maybe not doing as much as they need to. The best thing about sports is the top 10. Who are the top 10 players all time etc etc etc. Having announcers with actual opinions is far more entertaining.
The after game interviews are nice mostly cause of OE straight up calling out the Abjured and saying there coming. I love that as a former athlete. Seriously showing that competitiveness is great. If GW2/ Anet could do a better job of showing this stuff in game it would do so much for the game. For instance just a simple in game standing with the teams names and the players names.
Im curious on what everyone elses thoughts on the matches were and the set up entertainment wise is.

Ive tried, i cant find these matches on youtube and when i go to twitch it takes like 2hrs to watch 5 min. So this is the first time to catch it live and i can watch it live pretty well for some odd reason.
To my understanding though most people are running cele so maybe there just better at coordinated bursts. Should be interesting heading forward.
Lol i actually need to stop and apologize. I was one of those people saying that some of the old meta builds could play with the new ones. I just watched the final form and lemon squeezy match and im laughing.
the 2 things this forum complains most about is Dh and the Power creep and in this match you have 3 bunkers who no one can kill. The DH scored 0 points and the old meta thief couldnt help +1 since the bunkers are so strong.
I use to say that the old bunkers and other builds could at least contend in the elites but being this is the first ESL tournament ive watched since the hot release. I have to say im sorry and i was mistaken. The old meta builds are still good for pugging and team ques against average premades but after what i just saw i have to take a step back and realize i was mistaken about the new specs strengths vs the old ones.
I am a bit confused with certain aspects but the ability to transfer for any map and fight any opponent makes it so what is the point of having a home globe.
The problem becomes to me the middle servers. ALot of people would want to go to dead servers for simple Guild Missions for WvW and dailys and the rest probably want to be in a active map. The ability to choose any server to fight at any time to me will result in dead maps.
Also i talked about the unity of guilds and teams. This obviously helps since you have the chance to meet and team up with more people. It also potentially creates a mismatch in potential scoring. tier 1 server guild runs with a t7 and they steam roll some t3 globes. Obviously it go go any direction but people want to go where there is more action and preferably when they are winning.
there is so much to consider when you open it up like this but i do like the idea of changing some things up.
I was concerned when the maps were originally detailed, laden with obvious gimmicks. I posted my feelings here.
After release it was just bad, all of what I posted has become reality.
A major issue is that WvW guilds have to leave WvW in order to farm mats to upgrade their new Guild Halls. Why?
1 They are far too expensive to buy
2 They are not available in WvW. several are PvP only at the moment and account bound. Others are only available in PvE.
The in game economy is completely screwed up and for many it has become a grindfest.
I’m now looking for a WvW substitute where the devs actually take due notice and care about players.
Its interesting you brought up guild halls since my guild just started looking at WvW upgrades and all of us are like its not worth it. The amount of mats with the fact that only 2-3 people in the guild even do a little WvW and they want tens – hundreds worth of gold of materials when WvW itself doesnt nearly give out rewards like PvE.
I spent like hour in WvW and maybe made 3g since i didnt sell what i got and my guild mate who also does WvW was farming silver wastes and made about 55g in 1 hour and 30 min. Very odd they didnt add drops from WvW to tie into WvW progression in guild halls. Everything atm is PvE related which is frustrating for me.
I do a little of everything but mostly PvP and WvW (or use to) and i find myself trapped. Masterys requires me to PvE to do the story line and then i have to choose what i want to do for a day. Bouncing mushroom, fractal or pvp. If i want to help my guild i need to farm but i wont do that and its frustrating anet didnt think out upgrades for guild halls better.
Like if you take a tower you get this coin, if you get a keep you get this coin, you need these coins with some mats to upgrade WvW. Instead you need scribe and 1000 elder wood logs and etc etc etc.
It really is a struggle right now. Im on CD and everyone was on the EB borderland. We were pushed into our wp.
We owned everything in Cd borderland since everything was fully upgraded and small groups wouldnt want to go in there and try and take fully upgraded points. Then EB we can even grab teh side camps. People just start leaving.
I used to see people in here for hours since there was always a place for them to go. There is nothing more frustrating then trying to take something and it upgrades or you go to a enemy BL and everything is fully upgraded and no one is there. Simply just frustrating.

I still play trap ranger and i now have a pet that can get a ele health down 10%. I cant kill this ele 1 vs 1 but if 1 person comes to help me they drop really fast. Also if i have the point capped and they come over to take from me they cant.
This trait needs reworked simply cause its not good enough to do anything except troll the below average player in this game.
Do people make new threads about these topics that are already being discussed because they know a band of people will rally behind them, and they want to be flag-bearers for “the cause”?
Also, kdaddy makes a good point. Even in solo queue, you’re going to get uncoordinated teams against a group who knows what they’re doing, and the result is probably going to be similar. Problems don’t magically go away with a solo queue. They just change.
I can not tell you how many times i would see guys on ESL teams on one side and me and a couple randoms on the other when we had solo que. I personally loved the challenge, even though i very rarely won in these match ups.
Especially at the end of the solo que era when matches took 10+min to happen. Get a match and the best 5 players are on 1 team and the other 5 players are good enough to compete but realistically had no chance. I really feel people beg for this for the illusion its not them but a fact there facing premades on ts, when the truth is 95% of the players on the forum are not as good as they think.
If the PvP season had a solo que leader board i think it could be fun but honestly the community probably isnt as big as it needs to be to have a solo que, ranked que and unranked que. Especially when there are so many people joining daily servers just to get dailies and get out.
wow there is alot here ummmm dont know where i stand on it,
1) Servers
Its hard for me to say get rid of servers aka home worlds since it helped create the people i know. Before the mega server i saw the same people in the PvP lobby and the WvW borderlands and we kind of knew one another. There was something special about that. Even today me being from Crystal Desert a server which is kind of dying. WHen i get into team speak with people in PvP, one of the first things that comes up is what server are you from. When its strong guilds become part of the community and to me there is something special about being part of a team. I had 1 friend leave our server for a server with more action but he came back simply because CD he said was more like family. The time zones and picking a world to rep is intersting but for me personally have a server to give myself too is a good thing.
2) This would be a huge Reboot
Anet is really slow with changes and this would be a huge change. Lol i mean we spent $100 on this expansion and we were given a amazing looking map with nothing else. Literally this map had nothing on it.
3) Free lancing world feels too much
The ability to choose any world to attack is a bit much. Depending on how many teams you just feels like way to much.
4) Population and scoring
This definitely needs changed and has needed it for over 2 years. Also the rewards for all these things need boosted.
Overall what your asking is quite interesting but i dont know if anet would get a overall like this done quickly and correctly.
If i could just say one thing,
Last night i had 3 matches and i faced 2 repping there logo and icon. We won both those matches. At the end of both matches both guild invited me to there guilds, im not saying im something special but there is something to be said about understanding of rotation and the ability to win a fight.
Solo que or not, for anyone that remembers you got stuck with poor players before and you will get stuck with them now as well. There was nothing better then being in the old solo que system, wait for 10 min get a match and you see zoose,OE, and tarcis on the other team and you dont recognize the peoples name on your team.
All im trying to say is no matter what level you are your gonna be put in situations you might not be able to win, i dont understand the crying over it. Im pretty sure the Philly 76ers want to win a game but you dont get to complain that they should be playing college teams.
Also ive never found this skill to be OP since i run MM necro and a clone stacking passive mesmer. Alot of the builds i run dont struggle against revanent. Also in team fights its running threw 3 people so your only receiving 1-2k dmg.
I find DH/scrappers/reapers sustain and dmg output to be a much bigger issue then glass cannons with 1 big skill attack.

Im actually not very good on mesmer and so my fights with revs tend to drag out because ive gone bunker condi on my mesmer. I usually lose on my mesmer too but on my necro the fight tends to be quick. I run 3 minions with 2 shouts and sentinals amulet and im yet to see a revanent i couldnt beat 1 vs 1.
Also for me personally revanents are put into solo roles which is not a good place. They are either support with the tablet or demon stance. Or there pure dps where as DH/Scrappers/Reapers/druids can do everything by playing cele amulet and boon stacking or by simply mixing and matching traits and rune like people are running rune of the soilder with marauder amulet on DH. Or running boon shares with pet, cele amulet with rune of the druid.
These classes seem to have endless options on build setups that can be viable and all be a little different yet revanents have to be what they are going to be. Revs are designated support and the idea that they are op in any way is unrealistic.

Staff #5 can hit for ~9k…
so can hammer 2, which means we know the skills that we need to avoid. The thing about skill full game play is knowing which attacks to avoid and which ones to eat. Another thing is timing your dodges.
Like i posted i actually like facing revs 1 vs 1 on my staff ele and my old school mace/shield- Greatsword warrior. Rev skills to me are kind of like warrior skills, you can see them coming and the only question is whether you played it right.

I play warrior with shield and i actually like when rev do this since i can just stack might.
On my staff ele i put down earth skill 4 or air skill 5 and dodge behind it. Either way it stops them in there tracks. Im not too sure about other classes so this is how i avoid damage against this rev attack.

I did a ton of things really cheap for WvW in the expansion. I do a little of everything but i spent $100 and WvW got worse. They got rid of random nodes in the map and they saw that mistake and put holographic stuff at camps and towers which just feels cheap.
They didnt fix dailies, they added stuff people didnt want for extra activities and the worse part is it feels like they were never listening from the start. The biggest problem for the last 2 years has been inaccurate server populations.
We all spent alot of money on the expansion and i personally feel that WvW took a giant step back from when GW2 first came out. Like what i feel the WvW community wanted was different maps with more viable options for play. The new map we have is amazing looking but doesnt have the WvW world feel.
Another thing is the WvW skills, you made it easier to capped all the skills but didnt add a reward track, actually you didnt add anything. Thats actually what i think is making everyone mad. You added nothing to WvW but took away things like scouting, defending, upgrading and added more bugs.
The other problem is no comments on this forum about a potential change. You wrote about how WvW didnt hit the mark, yeah we know we paid money for it and its gotten to the point that people are asking for the old Border lands back which was getting old after 3+ years. Seriously we have paid money the least they can do is say a potential change will come feb of 2016.
Im wondering if this should be looked at. For instance on my rev and my warrior ill use the block skill to run onto points now but i still get the condi dmg and dps from staff necro skills and DH traps.
Its funny since on ranger traps they pulse so you can dodge right off and only have 1 stack of burns, 4 bleed and 3 psn where as i get that from a basic staff necro attack and the dps from a DH is doing about 4-5k dmg on my characters even if i have my block skill going when i run into it.
Rev has his hammer 3 skill to kind of run in and test points to see if traps are there. Necros have minions, rangers have pets, just wondering if you can create some actual counter play for this without nerfing them?
It finally catches on haha. I gave a hint that Warrior has a good build in the other thread, but people didn’t believe it. It’s just people didn’t want to share the build yet since they don’t want it to get nerfed before League.
Ive posted serious dps outputs on the new zerker trait line on this forum but went back to power/def/disc for the simple fact these are gimmick builds. Easily bursted down and easily out played. All the classes have shields basically now with blinds and you want to act like this is a viable build?
Im running mace/shield-Greatsword and i laugh when i see the rifle builds with the zerk trait line. With shield use warriors/engys and eles magnectic aura can reflect this. Mesmer heal skill reflects, revanents hammer 4 skill, etc etc etc.
If you get hit twice from a kill shot warrior in the current meta its a L2P issue with cele staff druids, Long bow Dh and now alot more staff eles running around. Acting like this is a real build to be used with success is delusional.

For what ever reason this always feels bugged. Our guilds mission is the quaggan rush in frostgorge. There is another guild at the same mission, they pop it and we try to pop it. Our mission calls for 11 min and they pop a 6 min rush. Either way dont care as long as it gets done.
My guild pops our start mission at the fresh start of the new rush. The 6 min timer goes, now our guild mission is suppose to have 11 min but we get the 15 people across in time. Just in time, my guild contributed 6 of the 15 that got across and we ddint get credit for it. None of us got the personal reward but bigger is teh guild favor. We didnt get any of it.
Many of us are frustrated since we did this a few times and completed it a few times and nothing at least 3 times. The one time we got our guild banner to pop as the banner we got 11 out of 15 but the previous one the timer was shorter then ours again it said 15 out of 15. Why is this not working for us? If you have multiple guilds at the same rush but its has this stupid bug.

dont put hammer in with this, hammer warriors are/is still the most telegraphed and slowest attack with it being in melee range. Now you have druids with 600 range aoe stuns and dazes. Hammer warriors took skill to use and skill to beat. Right now its more style of play, who has tons of stability and heals to run onto points and everyone else.
I know you guys are probably busy but seriously some of this stuff is just getting old. My guild mates who dont WvW just laugh but im just on the verge of not doing WvW for a couple of months.
We are on EB and we are taking a tower, we had 2 rams and a cata at this door and it has maybe 25% dmg left to be done and what do you know it upgrades. No way thanks, there is no one around and its freaking upgraded. This happened twice in less then 30 minutes. It is soul crushing to have this happen. We actually quit when after we tried to take a tower after the keep and it upgraded and the zerg came and got us at our location. We have just taken back our quarter of our BL back for some odd reason everything blew up in our faces.
There are some serious bugs like killing the upgrade person first makes it so teh supervisor is blue but the camp is green. The daily’s still being shot, guild missions not always working and this one is my new favorite.
We are taking the keep and this has happened twice before for me in the last week. We get to the inner of the keep and we are actually confused on where the champion is. We took down a wall and a gate only to find that if we simply just dropped the other wall we wouldnt need to kill the gate. Luckily for my sanity the enemy zerg didnt come when we were taking the keep. For i would of lost my mind as we were looking for a good 2 minutes as to where a champion would of gone.
You should have a Borderland that is bug map. You know when things are not where there suppose to be or you dont actually have to take camps they just magically switch over to another team.
My guild members love it and think its super funny being they can jsut laugh at it and walk away but i used to come in here daily and do stuff and its embarrassing that WvW is doing this stuff atm.

I recently had a dh say after i beat him, nice rampage. The next time we fought i was sitting on point and he came straight for me. I won that fight and I wrote “GF” and he replied F**** You and went on to say in map chat that warrior dps is broken.
No matter what class it is, he takes a certain amount of skill to play it at a effective level. Are some classes easier then others, yes but it doesnt change that fact that certain players dominate others because of the skill.

wait what? where have i ever said that? Before hot warriors were getting destroyed by the cele d/d, engy builds. It takes a insane amount of skill for warriors to win fights since all the classes have a counter to the home run hits warriors do.
Ive have always pointed out that certain skills need to be avoided from every class. As a glass warrior i have to worry about what kind of mesmer/thief/ etc etc is whether they are condi or dps. You cant pop both your stances at the same time since thats a death wish. I never said warrior is easier to play and im wondering where you are getting that from?

actually i find all the 1 vs 1 duel arenas super annoying. I havent seen/attempted any 1 vs 1 arenas since the HOT exp but is use to be dominated by mesmer and thieves constant running away invisbility. You get every so often a ranger taunt build but there is so much running away and going invisible to heal. Then you get some tournaments which only allow certain runes and sigils. Use to get these s/f chill bunker builds that no one could kill but since classes couldnt kill him it was quote um quote a troll build.
I dont know what the build would be now but its always the same. Nothing annoyed me more when you basically have the win but since your not fighting over a cap point this person is allowed to run away in stealth. Heal and comeback never breaking combat.
It’s been hard recently. I don’t win as many games as I used to. It may be because of what kdaddy mentioned. It takes me a while to kill sustain builds.
Alot of people are running some sourd of sustain build. I was literally in a match where 4 of my team mates were basically bunkers and they couldnt cap the mid point even though its 4 vs 3. So as a warrior i know i have to win the 1 vs 1 fight i have and i have to win it fairly quickly being 1 someone will peel off to come see me or the other person will come to the other claimed cap point.
I play alot of staff ele too but i dont as much in single que anymore since i cant win fights quickly and the lack of stability make is so i can bursted rather quickly in 1 vs 2 situation now. I play staff ele alot more when i play with people who bring high dps so i can remove condi/ give boons/ and bring a little dps and condi dmg.

PvP has no masteries for PvP progression and you bring up a excellent point of us having to eat our rewards. Ive always done a little bit of PvE and alot more PvP. So its frustrating have my guild members being done with the new story. Being lvl 30 for the new system and im at 5.
But PvP and WvW need some improvements for sure and i hope they are looking at it.

There was always small things you do like i went 2-0-6-0-6 on my staff ele build with full cantrips but now there are more options. Yes players have alot of sustain with damage and the impossible to kill players.
Though it made it easier for other players to understand. I would just like to point out the viable option builds for a good class like guardian atm. You have the bunker guard with s/f and m/s and using 3 shouts with renewed virtue and shelter. Burn burst guardian and trap DH. This is possible because of the full trait lines. All 3 builds would have to go back to some gimmick form if it was only allowed 1/2 of 2 and need full of 2 and 1/2 of 1.
Some classes got crushed in the new meta. There are still usable builds for them but this isnt cause of the trait system. All builds are not created equal and that was the fact before and now. Also with longer sustains and bigger burst coordinated attacks are alot harder with the amount of weird boons just being thrown out. With a few small tweaks here and there it will be some what balanced. So just imo the new trait system gave more options aswell as a easier way for new players to come in and make at least decent builds without having to go to a outside source.
We might mean the same but that is only our point of view. My buddy ran medi guard with something like 14621 and it worked very well for him. ETA: He also was a bunker guard in PvP and wvw zergs, so he had two builds which served different purposes.
I ran 06440 for the longest time but needed a minor in the third traitline to make my final pre June build work. Don’t know, it felt a bit smarter actually. And minors mattered. But alas, I’m a thief, so the lowest of the low anyway and my point of view is from the bottom.
It’s easier to adjust pure PvE players with that though as they probably wondered why they were that weak.
I do hope anet comes around and balances stuff (after half a year – and if they do it won’t be pretty).
We are saying the same thing but you dont like it and preferred the small things where as i dont see the difference at all.
I think interupt brought something in i forgot to mention which was stat line boost based on trait lines. Removing that was a great thing to me as well. I think we both understand one another but just have different opinions on it. I can understand though,

I find that people struggle when they cant win there fights fast enough or give enough support to help in team fights.
In 1 vs 1 situations warrior can still win some fights.
Ive noticed though that the new guardian/engy/ranger/necro have so much sustain and dps output. Before warriors could be the dps output but guardian and traps, necro in reaper form can do the same thing but also be a bunker in team fights.
The problem in the last meta was that D/D eles could do everything and the PvP community forced the tournament structures hand since every team starting running 4-5 ele teams. Now you have 4 HOT classes with the all around ability except mobility.
Warriors/thieves/ and to a certain extent mesmers have the same problem which is what can they bring to a team. Revanents also imo will have problems finding roster spots.
Its not only a warrior problem but yes the zerker trait line isnt what it needs to be to make it viable in tournament play and the old builds though good enough for 1 vs 1 fights fall a little behind in team fights.
I disagree with you on the trait system,
The idea that we had any control at all about builds before was a illusion. All warriors needed to play 0-0-6-2-6 and this went for eles and so forth. The best builds still had to be a certain trait lien set up.
You can still make burst builds like thief P/P and mesmer PU but there just not as strong just like before in the older days. To me we have just as much ability to make builds now as before. You just felt like you had more options since you could go 0-1-5-6-1-1 instead of the 0-2-5-6-1-0.
Yes and no, I used 06620 as a thief, the usual build for D/D back then was 26600 but mine had different perks.
The problem with the three traitline is that (I have to guess a bit as I don’t know too much about other classes than thief) all the defensive traits are now availlable, wheras classes formerly had to chose between one full defensive and one full offensive line. So what you got is tanks that hit like a zerker. And the stats going from the traitlines into armor alone and how that has been calculated didn’t help with that as well – something there is wrong – damage is too high, tankiness is too high.I kind of suspect that the reason for the 3 traitlines was that a lot of people (outside of pvp) had useless 22222 builds -but the reason for that might be that we’ve had an really really aweful trait system for a year before that, so people didn’t really have access to all traits anyway. So if this really is the reason for them merging the traits without second thoughts I’m mad.
There was always small things you do like i went 2-0-6-0-6 on my staff ele build with full cantrips but now there are more options. Yes players have alot of sustain with damage and the impossible to kill players.
Though it made it easier for other players to understand. I would just like to point out the viable option builds for a good class like guardian atm. You have the bunker guard with s/f and m/s and using 3 shouts with renewed virtue and shelter. Burn burst guardian and trap DH. This is possible because of the full trait lines.
