That’s the dumbest thing Ive ever read. You ever hear of the wisdom of the crowd and markets? No a small group of people do not generally know better then the consensus opinion of many people. Especially when the many play the actual product GW2 pvp way more then these developers do. I await your brain dead response. I don’t know who you think these developers are they are all like 25 year old kids outside of programming I don’t know why you would think they know more about what makes good game play then any other gamer. I know they are charged with making the game so that gives them final say but if they wanted a good game they should be listening to consensus opinions more. They seem arrogant to me.

Let’s look at the most successful game in world, they need to balance not only 9 classes, but over 100 champions, yet they’re always, always clear with their reasoning behind every change they make, they write extensive blog posts to help player understand what makes a healthy balance and never sugarcoat it. They even tell players about future changes loooong beforehand so everyone knows what to expect and can adjust to the idea.

They’re not perfect of course, nobody is, but ANet has a lot to learn from them, the way they deliver controversial changes and stay active within the community is vital to prevent this war between the devs and playerbase, to prevent this doubt within the community that they can manage their own game and know very well what the heck they’re doing and why they know better than us.

Take for example the ranger forum, ranger players have been begging, screaming and kicking for answers since day one, from pet changes, to ability buffs and nerfs, they’re begging for context, and they’re lucky if the devs in charge of the changes ever say a word, when the whole WHaO fiasco went down, the ranger community created a thread with over 20 pages long, and it took them a 20 page long thread to come in and say “yeah sure, we’ll look into it”. I don’t know much about other classes’ subforums, I hope it’s not the same.

Then they removed Ministrel amulet, this is a huge shake for the meta, it affects literally everyone that plays pvp, and this is their reasoning behind the change “Several PvP build components have been removed in order to promote healthy gameplay”. What IS healthy gameplay? Why is Ministrel a bigger offender than Celestial? are they going to give bunker builds a more viable alternative? DO YOU want bunker builds to be gone because they’re not healthy for the game? WHY are they not healthy? etc.

“We’re busy with HoT and don’t have time to answer to EVERY complaint from PvE content to every single class balance” Sorry, that’s no excuse, get a bigger staff, if you’re willing to dump half a million on a tournament you’re not in a problematic economic position, and this is more important than you give it credit for.

Your ammy argument falls flat. There was serious problems with that ammy. I personally know people who ran the amulet with a staff druid and a scepter focus ele and they would not die 1 vs 3. Depending on the comp sometimes they could go 1 vs 4 and not die.

The s/f build was minstrel ammy with rune of the soilder. Earth/water/tempest.

I dont know the druid build but please saying stuff like ohhh the bunker blah blah is not a argument when you have unkillable builds out there.

Rev sword 3 - No counter play?

So, during the beta weekend, they decided to give the Rev sword 3 an evade attached to it. Their reasoning was that when you used it, you’d get locked into this animation which would get you killed by a boss.

I immediately thought: It’s ok, this CAN’T stick. Ranger sword 1, Thief dagger 2, and many other skills in the game lock you into an animation creating the exact same issue, but instead of these classes getting evades it’s simply a “Learn to play” issue where using your abilities at the RIGHT time is more important then just using them when ever you feel like it.

However it has stuck. So now we see Rev’s with this ability that gives them straight up immunity giving the player ‘playing’ the class time to drink some coffee, and those not playing Rev have one way to counter this: Dodge. Twice.

You can’t fight back. You can’t CC them. You can only /sit and watch them float around in the air waiting for your turn to actually deal damage.

So unless im missing some thing, this skill has literally no counter play, it’s like if a thief’s pistol whip also teleported the thief to you the entire time the skill were active, allowing him to land all the damage of the skill.

I mean, it wouldn’t be so bad, if in full dps gear it did upwards of 1000 total damage, not 6k. Given how egregiously defensive this skill is, while still doing so much damage it need some sort of fix.

As a rifle warrior i actually dont mid the revanent as much as the new mesmer and engy. I just double dodge the rev’s sword 3 skill since its only way to do damage. So fighting 1 vs1 vs them isnt a problem.

The new mesmer shield and all of the bunkeryness and blocks and crap the scrapper annoys me. I cant land a kill shot on either and they both maintain high boon levels. Revanent to me is in a good place and you just need to realize which of its skills do damage. where as other classes get much much more.

Guild mission PvP

maybe you just need to take your guildies and train them? 1v1 practice in an arena is super helpful.

a few pals brought me in to set up a team comp for their guild and teach them how to play stronghold, because they were losing again and again. it’s pretty simple when you get the hang of it. put your best player on defense and have the second best attack.

They dont really like PvP as it is but its stronghold so they gave it a shot and 2 of the players just wanted to help the guild. After 2 losses 1 just logged off and after the next loss another guild mate said this is a waste of time. Obviously i could give them all support builds and say hey you stay by lord and you escort the NPC players but that isnt fun for them. I did give 2 of them builds they could use but like i said they were out of there element.

For me its not a huge deal since im use to it

But i have some guild mates who want to do it all and they want to help the guild so were trying for the so called easy one this week in guild missions for PvP.

We started when i switched to revenant (i was hoping to knock out a daily too) and everyone was excited to do stronghold and try it out. But game after game we lost and the thing is most of the people i team with almost never do PvP.

We were on TS but it doesnt help when your fighting people you cant beat. After 3-4 losses guys got tired of doing them and left and its gonna be hard to get them back in here. I have a screen print from word pad but it wont let me upload. Anyways we lost 8 in a row and 2 matches didnt last more then 4 minutes.

Anet just wondering if you good look into this since i know for a fact 2 of the people i was teamed up with at 1 point is wolf finisher and deer.

Skyhammer and Spiritwatch

To me there are some very easy fixes,

Spirit watch-
1) Make the orb a timed object. So at 14:30 and 11:30 etc etc every 3 minutes. Also make the orb 50 pts so there worth something yet it can be coordinated for team play.

2) By grabbing the orb you get set skills. Players cant use weapon or utility skills, its a orb skill. 1 speed skill, 1 defense etc etc etc

3) Move the orb to the top point cap and the top point cap to where the orb is. This creates quick fights and quick decision making for teams. Also it makes it easier for newer players running the orb to 2 quick side paths. Alot of new players run to mid since its there team color without thinking of where there team mates are and so forth.

Spirit watch is a great map and i think these things fix it all.

Sky hammer to me is fine the way it is, it just requires a different build like a court yard. People tend to struggle since they dont like changing there build or say they dont have enough time.

8s of invuln that doesn’t prevent cap contribution and can be used while still acting normally. 4 of this 8 passively procs, meaning you can’t be bursted down. If you’re facing more than one target, you’ve made some bad decisions.

What does a warrior do when focused? Enjoy his free invuln and stability. If he wants to fight, he has that option. It a thief gets focused by the same targets, the thief has no options like this. He MIGHT get his shadow step off before someone teleports after him and insta gibs him from melee/range.

Thanks to stealth, thief has absolutely nothing to protect them outside of it. Thanks to all of the burst, aoe, and reveal, even stealth can’t save a thief at times. The reveal has gotten so bad, using a refuge when a scrapper or herald is around is impossible. Reapers and dragon hunters will quite literally drop a nuke on that small circle and off you before your second stack of stealth.

I’ve seen endure pain save several warriors in a 1v1 (and certain 1v2 situations).

D/D ele has evasive arcana+ dagger 5+ cone of cold that can all be used at that very instant while proccing their signet. There’s a reason why D/D ele reigned supreme for the last while and it wasn’t because of damage.

You’re right about ranger having the least tools. That and the fact that these tools are the simplest to use/predict, make ranger not only a low skill class but quite easy to counter. You can’t gauge a class’ required skill level because of how little they have. You have to gauge it according to the difficulty it takes for those tools to be used and the fact of the matter is stealth/knock back + rapid fire is quite easily the simplest combo to do in the game. Hell, bulls rush + 100b takes more skill ( only marginally).

I remember picking up a ranger a week ago and racking up a cool 200+ points per game and nearly 18+ kills.

Thieves are characterised by their mobility, first and foremost. Them being able to quickly teleport and disengage is the reason why they have a little over half of a warrior’s HP and nearly 20% less armor.

Imagine a scenario where you, the warrior, are facing a thief (assuming both marauder and pack runes). The warrior makes a mistake? Eats a 7k back stab. Still has 17k HP. Thief makes a mistake? Eats a 7k whirl. Now has 10k HP. Warrior is capable of taking nearly another 3 of those back stabs. Thief can barely take one more whirlwind. At this point, the thief would try to stealth and activate basilisk venom go in for another back stab. He catches your back, fires a shadow shot is about to go in for the back stab. Assuming you’re not an idiot, you see the blind and know what’s coming next. You dodge and turn around. The thief is still trying to spam his back stabs till it lands and hits it but its on the front. You’ve taken 2k? damage from that, basilisk has procced but last stand breaks you out. The thief sees this as a cue to withdraw, but you toss GS and rush after him. He dodges the toss, but not the rush. Rush hits for 6kish. Whirl hits for another 7k. 2 auto swings and its GG. This isn’t including your hammer or axe/shield, which only makes life even harder for the thief since you can force the shadow step sooner.

Nowadays, all thief has been capable of doing is escaping. That’s it. They can’t fight a burn guard (its a guard, nuff said). They can’t fight a bunker (bunker will likely outlast them and whittle their HP into fine dust). They’re stuck intercepting other thieves/mesmers while the thicker classes duke it out on point.

You’re doing a 3v3 and you lose the team fight. kitten happens, friend. The thief wouldn’t even be able to properly contribute to a fight like that what with all of the aoe being tossed around. A funny joke about thief’s +1 role is that if every class was considered a 1 and thief can’t properly 1v1, what happens is thief actually equals 0< thief < 1. This is evident in the fact that if you stack thieves over, say, a warrior your team is bound to lose.

Shadow step has a 60s CD. I never said it was longer than other classes, I just said it was long (and it is).

Thief not needing to know other builds and what they pack? Thief not needing map awareness? Thief is the very definition of a class needing these things. A thief in the wrong place is a free kill, all the time.

Idk man, it almost feels like you don’t have any idea how the other classes work if you feel that guardian has a ton of invuln, or a mesmer is uncatchable (they’re not).

A thief and a warrior of the same skill level, the thief should win every time.

Shadow step-blinds- added dodges and everyone should know how to play against rampage and stances. There is a reason warriors have been poor mans something. There have always been decent builds for warriors to play at high level competition but never the meta. (Except maybe 2-3 months of hambow) Though i agree thieves are in the same situation as warriors atm.

I can post screens of alot of dps too and this is rifle warrior with greatsword. It doesnt change the points.

We are discussing it from a TEAM perspective. How does it to 1 vs 1 and how does it do 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3. Your post with bulls charge GS is a joke simply because only 1 person could use DPS warrior at a high level and he had to go back to shotbow after the WTS.

This is about viable builds for high level play. I dont know who you guys are facing who are seriously letting you hit them with a F1 skill and hundred blades. My points still stand about the new trait line and the fact people are using the OLD DPS WARRIOR BUILDS when all the classes got a little better.

Tested zerker (shoutbow + massive burns) it was fun. Its not insane 1shot build but very tanky and can catch ppl off guard with zerk + sword f1. I dunno why ppl say that Warriors are UP. Most warriors skills deal INSANE DMG, just cuz you guys cant land it doesnt mean whole class is bad. “Thief can evade” SURE. THIEF MUST EVADE cuz you guys can 2shot kill them.Also if anyone say that THIEF condi build is actually better in any game mode that any other class condi build he/she deserves a laugh.
PvE. Did any of you Tested zerker with sinister stats? or VIPER stats? NO? Then you dont have right to talk.
PVP. Did any of you tried to play zerker like zerker not WARRIOR 2×. I rly dont see this whole “I NEED FAST HANDS BASELINE” kitten. Other classes have normal weap swap and there is not that many weap swap mechanics in warrior that requires it baseline.
Tested Zerk on Shoutbow’ish build, it was FINE Tested it on Cele Hambow, was fun but it rly needs optmalisation. Tested it with Maruder power build and it was garbage. 2 out of 3 builds i tested was strong/fine 1 was totaly bad. That makes Zerker UP BAD and UNPLAYABLE? Cuz you guys want to swap 1 traitlane and have same playstyle with more dmg and survi>? This is not mesmer nor guard guys… SORRY.

Who are you playing that lets you land F1 on sword? Lol seriously that is funny. Also other classes have far better abilities that make it so where if you have 2 thieves and 2 warriors on a team there gonna lose.

Also alot of what you said is funny cause you said “just cuz you guys cant land it doesnt mean whole class is bad” and what makes it so funny is the fact that all of the warriors F1 skills are telegraphed and easily dodged.

I dont mean to point the finger but i need to play the people you are who are letting you hit them with F1 skills in beserker mode.

Its hard for me to put thieves in a cheese spam class because alot of classes now have reveal. I now put down a shadow refuge and while i am invisible i get revealed. Its gotten to the point that invisibility isnt a good way out anymore.

With the new revenant skill it makes it impossible for mesmers and thieves to escape. I like the idea of revenant being the counter class to them but engy,guardian and druid all have the ability to kill roaming thieves and mesmers with blinds/condi traps and impossible to kill characters.

Alot of people including myself are a bit confused on where dps is suppose to be. On revenant its great since they will catch thieves and mesmers but no other class can use it effectively. Literally every class now runs a form condi bunker class. I ran into a guardian with longbow that did 9k dps damage in 3 hits and was able to stack 6 burns on me. Now maybe that is a pure burst class atm no other class could do dmg that quickly that fast.

People want The DH to be nerfed but without it every class would be condi and i would hate for that. The state of PvP is a bit odd for me.

The real 4 main issues with the new WvW

I have been doing more PvE and PvP since WvW just isnt fun atm but i would like to add a few things.

1- Daily rewards werent right

You have this giant Expansion and the first 2-3 days your having veteran creatures and ruin rewards and me and 2 friends are looking around this giant map going maybe we missed them some where.

2- No foraging

There was no plant,wood, or mines to side track you from looking for stuff on a new map and now they just added holographic ones and our keeps,camps and towers. It really just feels very cheap.

Im sorry but WvW got smashed in this expansion. The map thing is a whole different issue but to me the little things werent done right. PvE to me is awesome in the expansion and the new area is incredible. PvP is fun still even with some major balance issues but the dynamic of it didnt change.

WvW didnt get the attention it needed and for those who focus mainly on WvW and are not enjoying right now i feel for since it looks and feels like no one gave thoughts to it.

I find it odd that people say what class is harder to play then others. How is that something you judge? For the past year or so D/D ele no matter how you played it could beat anyone in 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 situations.

Its the craziest thing to me that rampage would get nerfed when it wasnt a dominate factor at the high levels at WTS. Players who can play at a high level would just run around and avoid the big cast time of rock throw. After nerfing rampage they gavw warrior a cool down on last stand. WOW seriously thank you so much.

I mean 1/2 the people in this game call bunker condi aids already and the few times I did AG tourney before this HOT EXP everyone would be like, “are you condi bunker” i would say yes and they would be like “perfect” since you can do everything.

The only class to me that also has it this ruff is thief but they still have a roll on a team. I run rune of the traveler with P/P and staff now and even though it isnt meta or OP its a ton of fun and i catch alot of people running off point to survive and all the knockdowns i have with the added extra dodge actually made my very squishy thief a little better in plus 1 fights but even with that im finding alot of these burst condi builds to still be far more effective then dps.

The reason you dont see warriors as much is because they dont do enough dmg even with a full DPS build as much as a passive condi build. The condi warrior build isnt as good either so your gonna see revenants play that condi build and dps come other classes.

Anet gave guardian unblockable condi range attacks, thieves get bonus condi dmg and torment and a added dodge, eles got a funky alt spec which allows them to have more viable builds rather then 1-2 choices for high level play and this goes for rangers aswell. You now have to look at whether a ranger is LB ranger or staff druid and engy got scrappers which to me is the new D/D ele.

Endless amounts of boons, the scrapper i faced today had over 30 sec of 25 stacks of might,fury, protection, and vigor. So the zerker spec does what exactly?

Heck the old dps meta is better then any current zerker spec one you could use for PvP now for the warrior. You have alot of people trying to figure out how to use longbow with the new spec but its not worth it. A elite trait line to get fury for 3 sec and 8 sec bleeds……… This just reminds me of when rifle did 1 bleed dmg on the 1 skill and kill shot was pure dps. We can try to go condi but revenants, d/d eles, thieves, mesmers and now guardians are better any build they can run.

It seems that all the classes but warrior got another option and added something to a potential build. Not sure how to change it since you have many traits like fast hands in 1 spec line and with sword and axe in another. Cant go rifle and hammer since there in the same trait line etc etc etc.

Maybe i need to learn how to play but this is my view on the new warrior spec as constituted.

The problem with the boosters for me as well is alot of the time im in my borderland at the dead time.

Crystal Desert after mid-night pacific time. I was roaming alone and was able to take a camp and a sentry. As i was capping the sentry a another ranger came over and killed me. The only wp was at top keep and i was at the bottom of the map.

Why are these boosters a good thing? I have to spend literally 2-3 minutes running to the bottom half of the map and my former liquid XP for levels and gear were taken from me.

Its hard to keep going into WvW when it keeps resetting. I liked the Quaggans and i hated the ruins. I didnt like the orbs for keeps so im glad you got rid of that. They brought in NPC commanders which takes away from people actually upgrading there towers, and instead of adding side missions to a already good concept. Anet made a map for Big Tier Servers with nothing to add for small groups.

When i sneak a camp now they enemy will see so there is no need for server communication. At this moment, WvW which i really enjoyed is no longer made for the casual WvW player.

Naw all of it kind of frustrates me. I put in a ton of time into WvW when there wasnt skill points. I put in time when we had this liquid WvW Xp and i was saving them because in the last WvW season i didnt get the levels needed for that achievement. I was in there daily and bam they just took all of them away.

The part that is annoying me is they keep having us redo everything all the time. WvW has a point system they redo it. Its taking them over 3 years to address the POPULATION PROBLEM. Fractals, WvW and they made liquid karma boosters and i feel cheated even if they gave a warning.

I guess i have to say im sorry for not reading every update.

Ridicilous bunkers

I dont know about the rev but i have noticed a serious upgrade in bunkerness from my zerker warrior spec. I havent tried a condi warrior with the new spec but im landing more F1 attacks then ever but no one is dying. Im on the verge of just going back to sustain condi. Kind of sucks that the risk/reward just doesnt to be there as much.

Im running into mesmers/guardian i cant hit. Necros/eles i cant kill and the one class i dont find crazy strong atm is Warriors and revenants. (thieves are in this middle situation to me along with engy)

I obviously was late to the party when it came to hearing that the daily reward for WvW was changing to time related WvW boost. Now im sitting here with over 500 WvW time boosters on a CD map that is dead. Ummmmm i feel like you just kind of took a huge dump on me since i didnt see anything but hey i guess it my fault.

It is hard to find the want to in a map thats so big and no one is there. With the Halloween event and the new story line. I literally only saw people when i was at the starting WP, i didnt see anyone on my team or the other team as i was running around.

As someone on Crystal Desert where we had 2-5 people on a home map on the slow time part of the day. My question becomes how were we suppose to accomplish anything? I usually ran in 1-4 man groups rarely 5 and here i am looking for enough supply to take a tower with people who are getting lost to get back to the camp. Im just wondering what the plan is for lower level servers.

I just had a match before the update,

Im full dps with strength-maruder ammy- with gs/rifle. Im using the new zerker spec and i landed back 2 back F1 skills on the rifle on a ele and it did a total of 4k dmg for both hits added together.

Same match i fought a revanent 1 vs 1 and landed a kill shot and a hammer F1 and seriously it seriously just adds fire dmg with less dps then before. Im at a loss of words atm since ive only done the new warrior/ thief elite spec.

How did you fair against elite specs?

I think the new spec’s are a little better then the old specs. Players of equal skill it can be unfair and in 3vs 3 sit and 4 v 4. The newer classes just seem to be better but people can still win with the old specs. People are still learning the new skills of the new classes aswell as the new combo attacks.

I think it will take a little time (maybe alot with anet) things could balance out.

Its not Guild Wars 1 and i dont think players should should get the new spec since they didnt get the HOT. Now them making certain things from actual guilds and fractals unusable without HOT is crap. You wanting everything in PvP that other players just paid for is cry city.

To be clear, I agree that most of the “hits” on structures (boxes are probably fine to leave as-is, as they are intentionally player-destructible) should be fixed and not be able to be struck (for any reason, helping to prevent false “in-combat” signatures as well as benefits like advancing skill chains or life force gain).

Just wanted to show how it was possible without even using those spots.

Thats fine, i just felt it was silly for necros to get boost on objects that cant fight back. There are plenty of videos on youtube of people doing this. Just running around smashing 1 to gain life force and me playing a 1/3 of my matches now on warrior feel a kitteneated.

If im not fighting for 3 sec i lose my adrenaline and as a kill shot warrior i just took a step back and said wow, seems a bit unfair for them to do that at the start. If it is possible then i should just be silent but this just seems odd to me.

Academy Gaming Tournaments Update

This style would include, but is not limited to, a more new-player-friendly approach explaining basic decision making and more or less a less chaotic experience.

Does this mean less jokefully bashing of rangers and other various non-meta builds and choices?

Just saying, I mean I know its all in good fun, but you guys sounded really critical of certain builds (like the MM necro on monday, or the rabid condi necro a few weeks ago) which some players may take offense to.

I get that seems to kitten some people off I guess…. but they saw my build and we’re like what the kitten is he doing with wob…. I guess I just don’t care lol…. Just makes it funnier to me when they question something and then it works.

LOL same thing, the last PvP team i was on. We would do unranked/ranked matches and win 500-200 most matches and people would cry facing a premade and then when we went into the AG tournaments and get smashed against Button Mashers or who ever.

Then the week i said i needed time off another guild member who couldnt make it watched the live stream and storm called the team weak pugs and it was funny true and so it work both ways. They make fun of your build and you do well so they have to take a step back and we went in with typical builds and wipe and they make of fun of us like they should of.

Because everyone hates rangers and no one will ress them but there pets. But serieusly “why”? Probably because its designed to work like that. Fair? Probably not but, but i wish we didnt have downstate in the first place

i disagree, i like that a smart team will rez and it can change a fight. Also having the ability to trait for picking up players faster makes for many more options.

It just creates another level of PvP which i enjoy.

This style would include, but is not limited to, a more new-player-friendly approach explaining basic decision making and more or less a less chaotic experience.

Does this mean less jokefully bashing of rangers and other various non-meta builds and choices?

Just saying, I mean I know its all in good fun, but you guys sounded really critical of certain builds (like the MM necro on monday, or the rabid condi necro a few weeks ago) which some players may take offense to.

To me its all in good fun,

For instance 1 AG tournament that nos guest hosted. A team that was working with the Abjured and a team with a ranger were in the finals. Nos and storm made some jokes about the ranger being there but the dude played great and his team won the tournament.

Its like when you watch a sports show and you hear charles barkely and shaq talking about a player and 1 says he loves him and the other says he hates him. Its just good entertainment.

Another 1 is like when the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship and espn analyst named skip bayless picked every team to beat the mavs and through out the playoffs called him soft and that he wasnt a elite player.

Everyone has a opinion and i personally think it be more fun listening wise from a energetic person who doesnt always agree with storm. Everyone loves to be batman but the entertainment side of things needs the joker.

Ok so there are some questions to what i posted and this is how it went

It was kylo map and he went to his home my far. I ran over there and im playing rifle/GS with 3 stances and rampage. Im pure glass running strength with zerk ammy. I dont attack him when he pops the blue ghost face icon which helps him can life force.

About 10 sec into our fight i see him pop that skill and i run out of range with the gs for 3 sec and start to run back switch to rifle fire a kill shot and miss and go into rampage. Once i went into rampage he used death shroud and he had 100% full.

Say what you guys want about the necro life force skills and ability’s and whats fair and not but he had full life force and i know the dagger bug is still working. When he popped it it was less then 25 sec into the fight for sure. I didnt hit him when he popped his life force skill and i thought it was something that needed to be brought up.

Its not for me to say what changes necros should have but i know currently i cant get that much life force on my necro and thats cause i go axe/ warhorn with staff. So its either me crying cause its too easy for him to get or a bug. Maybe the map but thats what happened.

This still hasnt been fixed. I did a ranked game earlier and ran to far and the necro had a full 2nd life bar. Jumping out of the starting area and getting fall dmg and smashing 1 shouldnt give them life force.

I’ve recently gotten into PvP quite a bit and have been enjoying it a lot. I play Unranked because I figure since I am not a hardcore pvp’er it’s more appropriate. Having teams built through random selection going against each other in some fun “head-to-head” versus because I know I’ll encounter others at my current skill level. At least that’s what I thought it was.

Don’t bust my kiTTeNs just yet though. Playing with one or two friends I can understand and think that is fine. But going up against a full guild pre-made team is not fun at all. It’s actually makes the PvP in this game feel like complete “stuff that comes out your bottom.” Especially when you team is full randoms. This makes it so there is ZERO room for casual PvP’ers.

What I don’t under stand is why it’s set up to allow full guild pre-made teams into unranked PvP. There’s no enjoyable experience in that selection any it makes the battle completely one sided. This needs to be kept in Custom Arena and Ranked PvP if they hope to maintain an enjoyable gaming experience. Take a cue from GW1 where syncing in PvP could actually get you banned. So say your “salty” and "QQ"’s but its the truth and I’m sure plenty of people know what I’m talking about but won’t say anything.

I recently saw my old team, they were full 5 and on TS and i was on a 2-1-1-1-1 i and i solo qued. We won as pugs so i dont know how you MMR this. Back in the day when OE use to solo que alot i would see him once and awhile but every time he was on my team i knew we were facing a premade.

I think its anet way of judging your abilities past the 1 vs 1 situations. Newer players come into games and kind of zerg, fight near the point but not on it so it gets decapped, among other things. Alot of the old elite players say they dont need to be on ts to beat bad PUG PREMADES. Its really hard for me to judge these situations and i assume it is for them too.

hype! im going with a crazy prediction: NA winner will have at least 2 cele eles on the team, EU winner will have at least 2 cele eles on the team. 2nd place team in each region will have at least 2 eles on their teams. Make sure to watch the highlights Josh, might give you some ideas on what you forgot to do last balance patch

A few of the EU teams only run 1 ele, the NA scene is really struggling with competitive teams so who knows.

The mist form thing is just a big cheese mode. It allows engys to double up since 1 time they will go mist and 5 sec later the go mini, Thieves get mist and have the ability to run, d/d ele enough said, and mesmers if they have portal go mist and float away and drop portal and avoid death.

Pure dps builds suffer against this rune and any class with running ability can use this rune to make sure they dont die. I wont be signing but i can see the frustration of people who put alot of effort to set up a burst attack and all of it is for not because of mist form from a passive rune.

I actually disagree,

Ive ran many teams with 2 thieves and its fine, we were all partied and the comp was good so lets talk about it in a solo que way.

In solo que its all about understanding and skill level. If you have 2 thieves in a 4 vs 4 at mid your thieves might be a little lost on there roles. If you have 2 thieves on your team and there both trying to kill the bunker guardian at mid while 1 person at home needs help and the 2 people at far need help. Of course its gonna be a problem because there not rotating. That goes for any class in the game.

The premade team we ran with 2 thieves was shoutbow, staff ele bunker, cele burn guardian with 2 dps thieves. It worked pretty well not perfect but better then average.

When you solo que and your facing other solo que players anything can happen if you keep playing. Also i never brought up a dc which happens and im ok with that.

All i want is the ability to report people who quit just because. Your talking everything else which isnt the reason i post it. I truly dont care if the players im with arent as good, if they dc, premade etc etc as long as everyone keeps playing and keeps trying to win.

The way i see it, is if we get rid of all the people who want to quit for any reason it makes it so you only play with people who attempt to win no matter the odds which is all i want. Yes i dot feel differently because you sound liek you want to quit over any little thing. If someone dc and comes back in 1-3 minutes im ok with that. I only want for people to keep competing.

I went home the other 4 went far. This is kylo and 3 of them died on far from a treb shot. The thief on my team pulled out and came back to help me at home. So i was fighting a guardian from the start of the match and the enemy thief free capped mid. The enemy thief then came to me.

At this point ive been fighting 1 vs 2 for about 10 sec and all my utility’s are on cooldown except rampage. I see the thief on my team come and he jumps onto the other theif. I go rampage and down the guardian. I go for the stomp and he gets picked up. I look up at the top left at the health bar screens and the thief on my team is almost dead. He then went into hiding the whole match and afk. He and the mesmer on my team didnt leave the match but hid in stealth for decaps to get points until the match ended.

They didnt full cap, they each got 20-30 pts and just sat in non fighting areas of the match. It was crazy to see 2 players quit when the game score was around 80-5 and sit there for 8 min and do nothing while me and 2 other players just kept playing for the sake of it.

Seriously Anet, this is a huge problem especially if your solo queing

I asked for a surrender button so I don’t have to deal with the kind of stuff you’re describing and had someone tell me that no match is unwinnable and even if he’s losing by 300 points and he has FUN fighting 1v2’s. Does that person sound familiar?

If you want I can go back to your old post and quote you about how fun it is to play in a match like this.

I have absolutely no problem fighting 1 vs 2. I have actually won a few and though i would of lost this one i wouldnt of been upset had the thief just kept playing. He got outplayed and quit. He cried about treb and did nothing about it. The mesmer followed in his foot steps because quitters ban together.

You also realize that me and 2 other players kept playing? I dont need a surrender button, i need players who que up in ranked/unranked matches to actually play the game. The score ended up around 500-200 since we decided there was 3 of us we just keep running to a single point after dying and just fight it out. Its in my game history, the problem isnt having a surrender button. Its that people who quit go unpunished in this game.

I disagree. Lets say you have a few underperforming or the other team just has a strategy that’s obviously going to win. If it is to be limited it should be only for when there are 150+ point difference (a lead that is nearly impossible to come back from). If team has determined they have no counter for strategy against them why should they be forced to hold out the entire duration? That makes no sense. Again, the /resign feature I’m recommending would work as it does in GW1. The entire team has to agree to resign not just a single player saying “I’m out”. It seems several replying to this thread don’t understand that.

A few things,

I dont understand what GW1 PvP and other games PvP have to do with GW2 PvP simply because GW2 is different from every other game. Also i pointed out that this is a very vocal cry baby community and when your solo queing i dont want the person who quit because he lost a 1 vs 1 and claims the other players build is a troll build to simply say im going afk so let everyone just resign. When you say its a team quitting, that is a lie.

Also you said in most real sports you can throw in the towel. What team sport can you do that in? This is 5 vs 5 conquest not 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 anything. You cant quit in soccer,football,basketball or vollyeball. Saying were esports doesnt give people the right to just quit because you decide how you want it to go.

I have had some serious comebacks and some serious let downs in PvP. Being up 200-300 points only to lose because team mates got kitteny and decided to stray away from made us effective from the start. 2 people heading to beast, losing trang and stillness, 2 people going for lord and dont get it. Conquest allows for anything to happen and i wouldnt of had those matches if we allowed this community to quit when things got hard.

1- they bring up they dont want to be in a game where they will lose ……….
2- the want people to sub and there is a million problems with the sub idea yet they still post it.
3- Other players have posted that they dont want to get the pressure from pug team mates to quit when they might be trying a new build/having fun/are new/ etc etc etc but this doesnt seem to fly in to the resign players heads.

4-lastly your a quitter, how can anybody take a quitters comment seriously. When anything goes wrong people write gg. We lost a mid fight its over gg, they stole beast gg, they got trang gg. NO the match isnt over, how about this…….. finish the match.

It’s almost like WvW isn’t Gw2 and is some kind of mini-game.

Thats actually really funny, alot of my friends came from PvP/WvW before the mega server. I would see alot of people from crystal desert in the PvP room and 1 day we see each other fighting for the same side in WvW. There was a bond there and eventually many of us joined the same guild or all of us are in many guilds with one another.

None of that is here anymore, also many of them have 1,000 rank points in WvW and have nothing left to do in there. Many of us also take the time to upgrade everything and we have spent alot of gold in WvW and WvW seems to be missing alot now from a reward and team aspect.

I do find it odd they just start giving every profession everything. For awhile there mesmers had just as much stealth as thieves and the fact engys and rangers have it just means they ran out of ideas to help give those classes other skills to give them different play styles.

They just reduced invisibility on mesmers but im a bit surprised they didnt do anything on other classes for it. I dont think they need to completely change classes but they do need to stop giving every class the exact same skills especially when they havent been able to balance out dmg output and blinds.

No different from current specs. People are seriously not happy about dying in pvp to these new specs. Lol.

wait wait, i play dps warrior and to get alot of might i give up and do the dmg needed to win fights i have to be pure glass. I could run shoutbow but even then im not getting 25 stacks of might at 30 sec with 30 sec of fury and constant proetction.

The ranger build i had right there was a trap ranger and that engy was able to cleanse all condi dmg i applied. So not only can it sustain vs condi dmg it can against dps with the constant protection and stability it was using.

We just nerfed D/D ele cause it was able to do everything and because it did it better. All of the new specs have instant 25 might abilities with condi cleansing.

That isnt a old spec issue, i run staff ele and i dont get huge might stacks and what i give to a team is healing and the ability to sustain. I run a dps warrior and i bring team dps and small changing tides with rampage.

The builds i ran into today dont give up anything but have more dps/condi dmg/ and sustain they my purest characters. The new guardian build i was fighting against had range and the ability to apply 2 separate stacks of 7 burns. Here i am as a warrior with no good range attacks and this guardian can apply 7 burns not once but twice and trap me in a field. I mean the burn guardians we had had to be near you, ummmm not anymore.

Please dont say the old specs are the same when they are not

Ive faced 2 of the new guardians with longbow and ive had on me twice 8 stakcs of burning and i was in a circle i couldnt leave without stability.

Im playing ranger so i removed the first stack of 7 quickly. Then he reapplied it in a vortex i couldn’t leave without stability.

These new specs are pretty lame imo. Yeah there fun to play but they dont add change to the old specs. It honestly feels like anet was like what should we do next? I got it, have every class play a completely stronger version of a another class. Seriously at least a d/d ele had to be in 300 range to apply these burns. Arrow guardian naw, Druid does no dmg but he and the other player are immune to dmg if they sit in the cap point. Unless your a thief of course.

I thought the new specs were suppose to add a level of diversity to the current builds but in this beta it is play new spec or die.

I dont know about anyone else but it feels like its missing something. So maybe a few things I would like.

1- Have some kind of npc to summon to fight around the supplies.

2- Make it so if your near a NPC they get a bonus in stats for everyone near them. When you get 3-4 playing defense it can really drag out a match when the door breakers cant make it.

3- Can we get different kinds of NPC to summon. I want a archer with a melee character who can give protection or something.

4- When the 2 summons come up add another thing to summon. Not hero but maybe a huge boon buff to all players on the team who gets it. Like all players get a 200 stat bonus, cause there is a alot of zerging between heros.

I would like to here other peoples suggestions but stronghold seems to be missing something and i really cant put my finger on it.

Not right now, all the new specs (me playing my old builds vs the beta characters) feel super tanky with alot more boons.

The only class that felt under powered was thieves on staff or maybe the few i fight were bad but everyone else seem to be able to do everything. I play staff ele bunker and the new guardian/druid/necro are all more tanky but they seem to be might stacking. Seems a bit odd
