Provided zero information on your system spec/configuration, try reading Part 3 of this thread for self troubleshooting ideas.

Rendering sampling is done all on the GPU. If changing it does not affect FPS, then your CPU is the bottleneck. (See Part 4.2 for detail)

try deleting your local.dat file

SSD will only improve map load times a bit.

Still worth it IMO for overall system snappy-ness if you have it as the OS/Boot drive.

LoL/SC2/D3 those don’t really tax the CPU much. WoW is an old game that works well older hardware.

Run Prime95 to test your CPU, pretty sure your system will overheat with it running. Thermal compound will degrade over time. Running at high temps will accelerate the deterioration. You just need to re-apply it.

• 100c on CPU is concerning. Just as Solarnova said, reseat the CPU and reapply thermal compound.

• I recommend replacing the stock cooler with a Hyper 212 Evo. Running GW2 with my 3570k overclocked at 4.3 it stays cool at 42-45C. Cheap, one of the best you can get in terms of cooling performance per dollar.

sounds like network latency. what is your ping times?

With those specs, you system should do 40-60fps on high settings easily for PVE content.

Try things in Part 4.1 of this thread and try troubleshooting.

The game wants 2GB of “FREE” available ram, not total installed.

virtualbox emulation wouldn’t be able to run the game.

IMO, probably better just to build a better 2nd PC.

GW2 is very CPU intensive, but your HD 4350 is also a very low end GPU so that doesn’t help much. (Its about the same as a HD3000 integrated gpu which is the minimum spec) GW2 newer and more graphically demanding than WoW.

I ran around Queensdale on my 3570K and Q6600, both went fine at 50-60fps capped. So you getting only 20fps is fishy.

Where are you measuring FPS, and what settings?
(Go through Part 1.1 update drivers, and Part 4.1 to troubleshoot further.)

Auto-updater might have installed an incompatible driver version. Try using safemode to roll back drivers or system restore.

If you still get blackscreen and beeps, then it sounds like your video card is slowly dying. You can try re-seating it and ram while you are at it.

Every patch there will always be someone to experience performance drops and often its something configured odd on their system. Computers have varying types of hardware/software so not impossible for small subset to encounter hitches.

If you think your overclock is causing the crash then put it back to stock default setting and test.

Your video driver is rather old from 2009. Would try updating. (see Part 1.1)

You can try rolling back to previous version of the driver.

You won’t get full utilization with a GTX680 in GW2 due to CPU bottleneck.

20-40% usage for CPU is normal on 4core HT. You can try checking core-parking. (See Part 4.1)

Lag as in Graphical (low FPS) or Network (high latency)?

Every system is different and Win8 might not like a certain driver/component of your system (e.g motherboard chipset etc)

I would try underclocking the GPU and see if it is more stable.

Since you have data caps, I suggest making backup copies of your GW2.dat file incase of corruption or bad patching.

The game file isn’t stored in one location, but spread out through multiple CDN.

Could be the one assigned near you based on your location/connection is slower. You could try alternate DNS (see Part 3.13 here)

But, 300kb/s – 4Mb/s is actually kind of good.

AMD Athlon made mince meat out of Pentium 4s. Iintel released their Core cpu as a response. Now the question is will AMD be able to turn the tide again or a new rival emerge from the mobile industry.

Competition = consumer wins.

Take a look at the GPU chart in Part 2.2 of this thread, get the one that fits your budget.

Might seem like a lot of people are having issues, but there are likely more people without any problems. Not saying there can’t be any though.

Computers are like cars, they can deteriorate and even if you don’t change anything software updates through windows for example will change a system’s state etc.

Many points of failure and can be a pain to isolate, but you will probably have to start testing/checking one thing at a time. Read Part 4 of this thread to get started.

I waited 5 years for Guild wars 2 but it’s my biggest disappointment in PC gaming history.

You have a Intel i5-3570 CPU, one of the top consumer CPU, and get only 8-14FPS. While other people with the same CPU gets 40-60fps.

You’ll have to talk to the land lord or building owner on the shared internet connection. Capping the connection and using QoS will help with high latency and/or slow connection. Whether they know how or are able to do it is another matter.

A better GPU won’t increase your FPS much or at all. It will however let you use higher graphic settings so the game will look better.

4GB+ of ram will probably help you more with your current spec.

You could try gaming vpn like WTFast or BAttleping and see if it works better.

What kind of bug is this? Since I don’t know what you’re referring to… Try a -repair command on the GW2 files. (See Part 1.1)

Is your hard drive working slow?

That screenshot doesn’t tell much, gotta look at what “show details” contain or look in your Arenanet.log for it

Did you update drivers from the manufacturer directly? Try beta or roll back to older version.

You’re going have to talk to your internet provider regarding this issue. If your room mate is downloading things and causing the problem, you can use QoS on the router.
