Low FPS – All of a Sudden? It’s been like that since day one for me lol, Not buying expansions until it’s fixed and not buying a new PC because of one game when all my other games run perfectly.
Don’t think you really tried hard enough to troubleshoot.
(https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Why-the-low-FPS-with-7870/first#post1124588 *continuation of your last complaint)
Now, Before you can say anything. I’ve been playing this game since realease with NO problems Whatsoever!! Nothing..
As i said.. Now my pc is just formatted.when i’m in the Heart of the mists, i have fps 10-15
I followed some guides found in this forum, but nothing helped.
- What is your CPU/GPU utilization at? temps?
- Drivers directly from amd.com?
- Windows & Direct X updated?
- See Part 4 of this thread for more information

A whole download of the game will be over 225k of files. 17k seems like a patch.

Depends on the CPU and motherboard etc. Should read up more on how to overclock before attempting as configuration varies.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
GW2 is very CPU bound, which affects your FPS performance especially in crowded areas such as cities/WvW
Read Part 4 here for more details.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Windows 8 isn’t officially supported by Anet for GW2 so everything is YMMV. CPU load will never reach even close to 100% on a 8core system. (See Part 4.3) I suggest looking into updating your drivers from Nvidia.

- Run as admin
- Test running in cleanboot mode (see Part 1.1 for info)
- Disable security softwares
- clear local.dat and temp files
- List what you have alredy done troubleshooting would be helpful
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
move the game installation to another drive or your root directory.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
You didn’t list what things you have tried troubleshooting,
so try these general tips in Part 4.1 here
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Try moving it to another drive or root drive C:\Guild Wars 2
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Your CPU is bottlenecked. Read Part 4.2 – 4.11 to understand why.
Sounds like you are referring to graphical fps lag, changing server will do nothing to improve that. Network lag and graphic lag are two different things.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
- you didn’t have to screenshot it, there is a log file created with the same text. (Arenanet.log)
- do you have enough free space on your C: drive?
- Running as admin, permissions correct? Try moving the GW2 folder elsewhere outside of Program Files

Because they removed all the snow effects?
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
try updating drivers from AMD.com (see Part 1.1)

Don’t think there are any public API for GW2 provided by Anet. Maybe gw2spidy api
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Try some basic troubleshooting for GW2 (See Part 1.1)

WvW and sPVP both fine for me that past few days.

- What does your crash log contain? (See Part 5 here for some troubleshooting info)

would be much easier to read your text if you didn’t use “,,,,,,” & “……”.
Anyways, you found the culprit of having multiple mouse installed. Seems like the OS is having conflicts with your mouses. Try updating your logitech setpoint software.

delete the local.dat file, it restores you back to default settings.

I’m running 3570k 4.3 OC, GTX 660 with best performance setting, with reflection set to terrain. FXAA disabled and SweetFX installed. Running around LA with stable 60fps, occasional dips to 30’s. Pretty smooth.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Check your GPU bus speed if its not running at x16, core parking, and turn down shadow/reflection
(See Part 4.1 here for more information)
GW2 doesn’t use physx
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
- Use a different mouse to see if it works better
- Use different USB port, I’ve had machine with bad ports that intermittently lose connection.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Physical shut downs are usually due to hardware failure. (See Part 5.1 for tools)
- Check the temps of your CPU/GPU
- Stress your system to see if your PSU is dying
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
I wouldn’t worry about protecting a properly configured SSD from browser caching wear. Its lifespan would far exceed that kind of usage and more likely you will be replacing it with a better bigger one in 2-5 years anyways.
SSD for OS/Applications and regular HD for media/documents is the way to go.

You could have just attached the log file instead of making 3 posts.
Try testing your memory (See Part 5.6 for more info)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Try running -diag and/or game advisor to test your connections to all of Anet’s servers.
(see Part 1.1)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Check to see if there are any updates to your Mouse software utility.
btw, i use rainmeter fine without issues.

gw2.dat file is about 15GB. The progress % isn’t based on total MB downloaded, its off # of files.

Stress test your system under heavy load to see how your PSU is holding up
(See Part 5.1 here for tools)

Hmmm, just seems funny i can play swtor max graphics, which is cpu heavy plus has ram leak lol and i can play skryim max, just weird to me i guess.
10FPS tops at lowest setting is very suspicious something is wrong. Don’t know your exact CPU and where you are measuring the FPS, but it should be higher.
You need to do some troubleshooting. See Part 4 for information
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Get out your Windows OS disc and re-install. Antivirus doesn’t always cover everything.
Look at task manager and see which process is taking up 65% cpu usage.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Should check the temps and stress test your system if the PSU is holding out etc
(See Part 5.1 & 7.3)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Because you didn’t provide any computer specifications, people assumed you had either a AMD or Nvidia graphic card. But now that you mentioned Intel integrated graphics, you have neither of those. Don’t think intel has those options to change. You can try updating the driver if you haven’t done so already. (See Part 1.1)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
update drivers (See Part 1.1)

No clue what model “Pentium Dual core cpu 2500” is, unless you mean Dual core E5200
Read Part 4 of this thread to learn more on FPS issues.

Try suggestions in Part 3.12 of this thread
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Look on your taskbar tray icon or control panel for AMD or Nvidia control panel settings.

Well I hope the developers will make guildwars 2 a multi threaded game. I understand the first game wasn’t. But since the graphics are better, we should expect that the game uses the GPU as much as it can. We are now in a age of multi-cores/threads so games can’t stay forever running on 1 single thread.
Gw2 is multi threaded. Actually uses about 50. (See Part 4.3)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Not knowing anything about your system, I suggest update your sound drivers if any.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Bluescreen (BSOD) is usually due to driver issues or hardware like memory/overheating/power problems.
You can try things in Part 5 of this thread.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
looking at your log it doesn’t look like win8 is using the updated driver from nvidia. It’s showing your card as “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter”
Try installing maybe the Win7 driver version from nvidia.
*note: Anet has not officially supported Win8 for GW2. Some got it to work fine, others have not due to driver issues etc. So YMMV.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Do you have any other devices using usb3.0 port? Its a known issue with USB3.0 devices emitting interference. My wireless mouse will drop signal every so often when I have a thumbdrive in my USB 3.0 port.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
And i hugely suspect, that there is a problem with GW2 optimization under AMD CPU, as most FPS problems i have read about on this forum all occur on AMD configuration.
No idead what to do with it.
See Part 4.8 here for explanation
