Try adjusting the sound quality setting down. (see Part 7.6)

Did you install all your programs back again, and then GW2? The purpose of a clean install was to eliminate any doubt that 3rd party software could have some how cause issues. So Clean windows + updates + drivers, nothing else, then GW2.

You could also try underclocking the GPU see if that works.

Should be a local.dat in the game directory and/or My documents folder.

try deleting gw2 temp files and local.dat

Try a clean re-installation of windows.

Reinstall drivers and/or roll back to older version.

You can stress testing your system or try underclocking the GPU. (See Part 5.1 and 5.5)

• Try moving GW2 folder & check permissions.
• Check 3rd party security tools/antivirus, or better yet disable & try cleanboot mode.
• Test on different connection

For majority of people updater works fine without issues, there must be something different.

You didn’t provide any FPS# to even start troubleshooting, but your laptop should be able to play the GW2; it won’t be the best in certain areas like large cities or WvW.

I have been getting this message from time to time (especially on busy maps like Lions Arch and WvW). I was wondering what could be done to prevent it without compromising too much of the graphics. I know there are some posts about this already but I do want to point out that my graphics card isn’t terribly bad which is what makes me wonder about what needs to be done to run the game at around medium to high settings.

• Might want to try using DriveSweeper to clean out video drivers and re-install again.

there are window services, and there are also startup applications.

If it is your ISP, you can try using some VPN service to tunnel through. You can test out WTFast or Battleping for 20min free. They are gaming VPN services.

Check for overheating issues, and stress test the card. (See Part 5.1)

funny, my laptop has a brand new intel core i3 and runs GW2 without any problems. it’s not exactly a high end thing, but i can manage GW2 quite easily.

intel core i3 330m 2.13Ghz.
4gb ddr3.
ati radeon HD4500/5100 series @ 2GB video memory total.

as you can see not exactly top of the line material, it only cost me a mere 600.

For PVE content that is fine, but what the others are talking about is WvW/Heavy events, conditions where the CPU just can’t handle it well. So for people who only PVE then you can get by with less.

PCI-E at x1 will seriously affect performance in GW2, some games use more bandwidth than others.

How much worth it is depends on you. If you play this game a lot then its more worth while, if not then just live with it.

If you are going to get a 3570k and new mobo, might as well build a complete system, and save the celeron one as a secondary PC/media center or sell it.

Try using a diff defrag tool like defraggler

SPI feature of router is known to cause black screens (see Part 7.3)

Disable antivirus/security software that might be blocking.

Most likely it be low graphic settings, with maybe few on medium. (See Part 2.2)

I’ve been experiencing the same thing. Some days it might happens a dozen times in the day, other days it can go for many hours before it happens. I thought it was my pc, but I have my doubts now. It doesn’t seem to happen when not gaming, or when in a different game. Granted, the pc is used primarily for GW2, so other stuff doesn’t get as much “testing”. But still, I never seem to have issues going for hours on other games, netflix, etc. But in GW2, it never fails, I’ll be fighting a champion or something and my screen just freezes and the computer is completely unresponsive until I force it off, and turn it back on. I went as far as to completely wipe my Win7 (it was having some other issues anyway), and installed Win8 and re-downloaded gw2 from scratch (I had previously still be on the same .dat file since beta). But sure enough, the gw2 freezing issue is exactly the same as before.

Since you installed new OS cleanly and still have the same freezing issue, I suggest stress testing your system. (See Part 5.1)

Depending what files has already been downloaded, but likely it will overwrite it. Afterwards you will still need to download a few GB to update. The game is ~15GB in total.

did you confirm you were actually using google’s dns? if not use ipconfig /flushdns command

Try doing a directx repair install/update. (See Part 1.1)

Every game uses different directx files and version. One reason why STEAM Client makes you install directx everytime you get a new game.
