People bring up flipping because most of them believe the stories about how easy and risk free it is. They are simply repeating what they heard.
I challenge you to find a person who loss more than they gain in their GW2 flipping life.
I lost 1000 gold from keeper’s recipe because Anet totally kept their promise about not re releasing limited event item. But the price is climbing back. So I didnt’ loss that much. And I obviously made much more than I gain from investing in limited event item.
obviously this is not real life economic.
else you’ll tax people hoarding items or transfer items between accounts like in real life.
and obviously only taxing the rich won’t bump price. Since the other people can sell item at relatively low tax.
The problem is mainly TP price arn’t stable else people won’t even be able to make “that much” money from the TP. And obviously you can just sell fix price item at merchant, so you don’t need to use the TP as the main gold sink.
You guy fail to understand, the whole purpose of the rune change was to make them serve a purpose. What happen if one set overshadow them all? What purpose does the other serve if they’re gonna get overlooked.
It does serve a purpose rune of strength = pve rune… the other rune=pvp rune.
It isn’t even a good rune for coordinate group right?
I need a good excuse to tell people why I’m too cheap to buy it.
I’m still waiting for the deflation effect to kick in.
I dont’ see the FGS trains causing the inflation, at least not on t5, t6, and precursor.
Because FGS trains actually supply most of those materials.
Most server already stopped the FGS train for a while but we keep seeing the crafting material and precursor go up. We probably have an inflation on those material since no one is farming those material.
But at least now there will be less money in circulation, since most of the gold is gone from champ bag. Have to wait and see what happen.
I think the problem is because you have to wait for the veteran matriarch to finish his dialogue before attacking him. I’m not very sure but that’s what people been saying.
I waited several hours to do the quest already.
Basically if you kill the veteran matriarch before he finished talking, it’ll bugged out and you won’t be able to finish the quest and buy the harpy feather.
So now I’m unable to get the harpy feather consumable, because of the new mega server system, people keep coming in to kill the veteran matriarch before he finished his dialogue.
No, your comment is LOL on so many levels:) I think you should at least read this post. Come back here when T6 mats for your ascended/precursor/legendary crafting double in price.
Most people already quit FGS train, which probably contribute to price spiking of T5,T6, and precursor. So having a few more train farmer quitting probably wont’ change much.
Beside they nerfing the coin you get from champ bag too.
I bought like 250 when they are at 20 silver. Mainly because I have too many alts. And I can’t afford first tier sigil for all of them.
So sigil of air did go up. There are some other choices, unless proven air is better than force, bloodlust, accuracy, strength etc… It’s probably not going to go higher.
Rich players can’t sell items for high prices if no one buys them. Same with low end mats. Supply and Demand only works when the demand part can be met by the consumer. If not, then the supply part will increase, thus bringing more prices down.
This is the thing you don’t understand. I can buy a precursor every 10 days just because all I do is farming all day. One of my guildmate can buy a precursor every couple weeks playing 3 hours a day, just because he can solo arah path 3 in 30 minutes. So does the flippers who can probably buy a precursor just because all he does is make a video about superior sigil of water.
But most people are poor either because they aren’t playing a specific way, or they just don’t play that enough. That dont’ mean people are rich. I’m not sure if there is even more gold in circulation.
Take for example. People in my country are “poor”. Our wage is 3$ US an hour. But the price of house is so expensive it’ll take a person working 50 years not spending any money to afford one.
The reason is the extreme wealthy people buying house, and we have “very low” tax on holding real estate. So in practical you really need to tax the “rich people only who hoard all the house”. That is not saying I suggest that happen in GW2.
And really, more gold in circulation dont’ even mean inflation, if there is more goods in circulation. Not to mention you don’t even have proof the gold sink GW2 have isn’t enough. Even though there is very few gold sink, there is also very few ways to generate pure gold. And they already are nerfing the gold from events and bags.

This is the thing. People “aren’t rich”. Try make a post asking how much people have, and they will generally tell you they dont’ have much. There actually was several post about it, most people actually say they really dont’ have much money. While You also get a bunch of people who are extremely wealthy. Basically you have people extremely rich or extremely poor.
Most people don’t play this game just to farm, or wear a legendary.
People are complaining because they are poor while other people are rich. Try to google M society.
should I dump the water and impact rune now? I actually bought a bunch because I have a bunch of alt, and not rich enough to use expensive rune on secondary alt.
I think theoretically superior sigil of water might be a good rune. But you really need everyone in the zerg to use it, which isn’t likely.
And overall, I think its just a by-product of the M society. The few that are rich either because they farm all day, sell arah, or good at flipping, or buy gem that keep bumping the price up.
The prices of high end goods are VERY close, if not exactly the same, to what they would be without any “TP Barons” wanting those items. There’s too much velocity for individual rich people to influence the supply/demand equation all that much, which is the only control they have if they aren’t manipulating prices.
I dont’ mean the few as in the top 1% flipping, I mean the top 10-20% might be responsible for the ever increase price in luxury items. And I don’t necessary mean TP Barons.
I’m not sure if there are even more money in the circulation. I thought overall just less people farm material nowadays that’s why it keep going up. And precursor price does have some relation with material price.

or I don’t know… sell some item people will buy at fix price at merchant like the other 1000 mmorpg is doing.
Things like thermocatalytic reagent, which I’m sure Anet thought about already. Just have to decide if there’s a need to add more.
With this idea, it doesn’t touch the merchant values of the items in question, so people can sell all their goods for set prices to NPCs.
I played another game which just set most item at fix price, actually a nexon game. So that’ll cap the price. People who want to sell their item just have to sell at lower price. Since the demand far out grow the supply, there’s not a problem with too many stacks of material.
I’m pretty sure most people are quite poor in this game. I honestly believe the few that are too rich is the reason why a few of the limited or prestige item are so expensive. Unfortunately Anet is trying to sell gem, so obviously they want some people to be poor. Which I understand. I Just dont’ understand why the game designed to have so much flipping in the trading post.
I’m not sure if you are actually serious or trying to troll. If you are serious, cutting down dungeon gold reward might be a good idea, and reward them something else instead, like crafting material etc.

What does it mean by proxy? Meaning there is a middle man which direct you to the actual group once he get payed?
Most of the markets are single-server, so players only see 1/10th or less of the market and there is a lot less competition because a rare item for sale on one server is only fought over by a fraction of the players instead of everyone in the game, or at least in that hemisphere.
Also, just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Most forums probably don’t have sections dedicated to the auctions/markets and it’s pretty common to see complaints about trying to make money crafting, how expensive crafting mats are or how much competition there is to sell things, etc.
That’s what I thought of, also the buy order/sell order system kind of favor the flipper. Not to mention all the limited event item. And how price of items keep changing with every update (which is like every 2 weeks).
And you said it’s common to see people complain about making money, crafting, or selling crafted. Which is valid. But the complaint never is about the “flippers”. There seemed to be an overwhelmed complaint directed to “flippers” in GW2 which is uncommon in other games.
I think the problem is “if there is any”, is people don’t like the economy, which is part of the game.
You kind of have to care if your players like your game or not. That being said, there is no proof the people complaining is the majority.
Which brings to my question. Why don’t the other 1000 mmorpg games have people spam complaint about TP Baron on their game forum. Sure people complaint about P2W or gem store being too expensive, but I never heard people complain about the TP or economy(well beside diablo 3, but everyone know how broken it was).
Every pub run is casual, regardless of what the players themselves think.
Ok, I’m not as cool as you guys with premade. But what’s wrong with wanting to do 12 minutes cof pug run instead of 20 minutes?
I try not to discriminate the class. So I just put melee only. Out of all the runs I did this week, 5 of the ranger use bow and 1 use axe and none of them are meleeing(Even if I specfically says melee only!)
^ ok thanks for the advice. I think I’ll just save my money for legendary armor. Maybe legendary armor will only cost 2000 gold which is the price tag of a few ascended armor sets.
^ You forgot the importance of bank, bag space, and convenient. Not to mention Anet never promised ascended to be the last tier. Only promise is legendary will be the last tier.
I think my argument isn’t about weather legendary is a luxury item. My argument is if it cost so much for utility. You might as well get a legendary.
In fact I’m not really arguing. I’m just having a dilemma weather to pursue legendary or not. Which is driving me crazy… I think there’s more to consider like vision crystal or the price tag of future legendary armor, weather there will be new stats added, Anet future plain of making more stats useful etc.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I kind of accepted I’ll never well a Parada. Which is fine.
But problem now is you can switch stats in legendary. So in essence legendary is really 20 ascended gear combined in 1.
Which brings to another problem, because Anet never promised ascended to be the last tier. Only promise is ascended is here to stay for a while.
So in the end, I finally decided to pursue legendary. Not because of luxury, because I think it is actually “some what useful”. Not really useful, because you can still not switch sigil.
Most likely it’ll still be much cheaper to just get a bunch of different stats ascended or transcended in the future. But you can never predict the future. I can’t imagine how expensive the next tier of gear would be consider, ascended already cost quite a bunch.

That’ll I can agree with. If we ever get access to some hard data, we’ll be in a much better place to say the least.
Please explain to me what your process would be for proving your theories if you had the data.
Start by seeing if there was a wealth gap, how large if present, and if it was growing. Then I could go from there.
This does not answer my question. Feel free to make assumptions as you go, fork the ideas as if drawing a decision tree. This is how I would recommend beginning the analysis with or without data.
My theory is many players dont’ like the GW2 economy and TP.
And I prove it by seeing many people complaining on the GW2 forum.
The reality is people aren’t complaining in other mmorpg(with some exception which I shouldn’t list because I dont’ want to promote other games), they only complain in GW2.
You know what else people don’t like? Prostate exams and TSA checks at the airport.
Valid point. There is also the benefit of the GW2 economy. Many enjoy the high volatile GW2 economy, which became a valid game play which you don’t see much in other online RPG games.

How about reverse the question a bit.
If you see a person with 1000 or 2000 AP, do you not think there is a “relatively high percentage chance” that the person is inexperience in the dungeon path or even never ran the dungeon path before?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor
check the material. For example a full set of tailor ascended armor need 36 bolt of damask and only 6 elonian leather square.
I’m not sure if you guys are just sadistic or like the guy in wolf of wall street and want to raise the price. But I surely don’t enjoy the silk price.
description says +10% damage vs damage vs. Toxic Alliance, Watchwork, Aetherblade, and Molten Alliance
does that work for cof or se or dredge fractal? I’m not sure if those count as scarlet armies.
I’m considering releasing my gold making guide next week John.
+500g a week, but doesn’t involve gold faucets at all. I sincerely hope you do not nerf it at all
lol, I’m been eager waiting for you to post it.
I was making about 10 per hour from harvesting. Quite good money since I have so many alts. But the profit have been down with the price drop.
Champ farming was a TERRIBLE way to try and make gold. It was mainly for XP, crafting materials, karma, and luck, none of which are impacted by this change.
If you were farming champs for the gold drops… I mean… I don’t even know what to say…. maybe “don’t”?
If champ train is such a terrible way to make money. why can’t any one post other methods when I asked?
Because 90% of the time when someone suggests a way to make money, the person getting the info doesn’t like what’s involved.
I’m sorry the path of least resistance way to make money is gone but, in all honestly, it was a horrendous way to make money.
ya I’m not getting any more involved in the topic. I dont’ have a problem with the nerf. I just don’t think what people say is entirely true.
If someone actually know a better way to make money. I’d like to know, so I can cash in some cash.
I think there are better way to make money. Just a tiny fraction of the people can manage to pull it off. It’s like people telling others to do dungeon. Obviously if you spend a whole day using the LFG tool to do dungeon, you really won’t make that much money. I know a person with 11 legendary just doing speed run dungeon, but the only reason he can do it is because he play 24/7. If you want to find people to speed run dungeon 24/7, you need to be on 24/7 too.

Can someone actually post some way to make money without the TP for the average gamer?
I know various ways, it’s just not for average gamer. Like having 100 alts for mining. selling arah path. wining pvp tournament. dungeon speed runs for hardcore players(since only way to find people available to do speed run at anytime is you need to be avaibable all the time too).
Maybe something like karka farming? I can’t think of anything else.
Healing Ripple Heal nearby allies when attuning to water.
I’m wondering if healing ripple heals only temporary when you switch attunement(for example fire to water)
Or does it permanent heals you and allies as long as you stay in water attunement?
I hope it’s cheaply from the vendor actually.
I have 8 character with full map completion. Another 4 with around 90%. And a few other with some map completion too.
So I do explore. But what do I have to show for. People who just craft to 80, or switch to alt at last boss level much faster than me. Now I’ll be punished again for playing the game normally.
I understand the oh, there isn’t that much CC, the cooldown is 25 second. I’m so wrong etc etc.
But by comparison. GW2 have far more CC with far less cooldown. You can pretty much have 2 thief that can spam blind forever. That’s why you have to have defiant or reducing cc effective in dungeon.
This games combat is precisely designed for soloing. Hey at least it’s fun soloing boss. I have a blast on queen’s gauntlet too.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I’ll use the word coordination to describe what I’m trying to say.
In other games they don’t have CC that last forever with virtual little to no cooldown. So people need to actually coordinate their CC and support.
In this game every class have AOE CC with little or no cooldown, that’s why every monster have defiant, or cutdown CC by like 90% in dungeon.
Not to mention, AOE etc. Every class have AOE. So if every class can do everything, there is no need to rely on each other etc.
I honestly don’t think anything will happen to GW2 despite of all the competition. GW2 make enough market separation from the rest of the competition.
If you start seeing all the games going B2P, casual friendly, no raid, having 3 side wvw, that’s when you start to worry.
with the utter lack of skill required to play this game, absolutely no truely engaging high level content and no meaningfulful player interaction along with dire guild support the only thing anet need to worry about is a mass exodus of players to Guild Wars 1.
Yesterday i was very happy because we killed lupi and i only got hit once (kick) though i also put one of my banners in a wrong spot. Perhaps im utterly skilless, would you provide me with a video of you soloing him so i can learn to do it better? Perhaps some speedruns with your guild?
The game does require skill for certain tasks in my oppinion (but again im a mediocre player; it doest help that im better than 90% of people out there)
What are you trying to say? GW2 have the best solo dungeon out of all the mmorpg?
I actually felt that way. GW2 have the best solo dungeon, the gauntlet from past event is great.
I just want to confirm.
If I already use up my 2 guest server. And there is a tequatl raid going on in another server. It is impossible to do tequatl?
I usually used up my guesting. And the tequatl raid are usually on different server everyday. It became a problem for me.
probably 3000+ in investment 1500 gold, no legendary, I’m an altaholic so most of my money is in convenient items (maybe 3000+ gold worth of convenient items)
Other than trying to up my magic find, I’m good on gold right now, so I’m not worried. I dont’ farm much any more. Most of my investment is long term as I’m not good in flipping.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
If I’m on sos main, and my 2 guest server is bg and jq…
can I still guest to devona’s rest? I joined in a party where another guy is in devona’s rest, but I can’t right click on his name to join that server.
did they make some change to guesting? I think I can do it before but can’t do it any more
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I have 152 magic find, 137 from luck, 5 from achievement…. That is a total of 142…
but how come I have 152 magic find instead of 142?
I’ve tried sitting in LFG for “a few hours” for a group to form, but by then, my few hours of game time are up and I have real life to take care of.
It’s weird because I just tried the lfg tool. It’s filled in 10 minutes. 2pm server time USA.
I tried 4 am server time. Give up after 10 minutes because no one joins.
I’m not sure how bad the problem is on EU server. What time you play probably make a big difference.
It’s like people telling me they can’t find a party for AC. I can afk for 1 hour and there are 60 AC listing.
Sure lfg works for SOME events and a group can be formed fairly fast—-your response says it can work/ but are you talking about this specific event??? or just in general?
2nd—lfg has nothing at all to do with the topic. Which is why the devs changed the rules of the story for the last instance? And asking them to consider changing it at very least respond.ya take 10 minutes at 2 pm to fill the party. I’ll get another character to lvl80 and try again. I have 8 character which complete personal story by the way.
beside you guys complaining can fill a party already. Base on the complaint.
What—makes no sense what so ever and has nothing to do with the op request or with what i said.
I’m not sure what the topic is about.
I thought people are saying they can’t find a party for arah story. Which I have no problem finding party.
So if you want to do arah story, it shouldn’t be hard to find a party, at least on NA server. But if you insist that the personal story should be soloable, that’s fine, that’s your opinion.

farm money? There’s a train in frostgauge sounds. Obviously there are better ways. But 7 gold an hour isn’t bad.
But if you spend 10 hours farming it you’ll be 70 gold richer already. Some guy farmed 10 legendary without playing the TP. It is simple. Just farm money.
Maybe on your server. I’ve heard of it, and have tried to get in there myself, but it always seems dead unless Jormag is around.
guest on blackgate for NA. I’m not sure what server EU people do.

I got an infraction for name calling GW2. Wonder if you will too.
I played a bunch of pay 2 win games which use similar system GW2 is using now.
Basically top tier gear is expensive, and you can bypass it by paying real money. The system is same in GW2 and other games.
But the major difference is those other games like to release new tier every few month. So you have to keep paying money every few month. Ascended gear is here to stay for a long while. So it isn’t as bad.
GW2 is a lot more lenient in that aspect.
