ya just buy your way to lvl80 or dungeon switch alt like so many *. I honestly hope Anet would do something about people dungeon switching at the end of the run.
What is it with people wanting to change thing that dont affect them in the least?????
You don’t like switching, then don’t switch…
yBut I think majority of the people are just farmers, weather that is legendary, or farming eotm, or fractal skin farmers.
Honestly just look at what people is doing in eotm. If there is any confrontation, people either port back and walk the other way so they can continue their farm, there isn’t even much fighting.
Well if you put it that way, everything in the game outside of rp is farming. >.>
again, how does people doing this affect you?(btw, I’m actually not all that interested in fractal skins/drops. I just like the idea of being able content that few do.)
So why complain. You are just farming level instead of whatever you are farming at lvl80.
ok…lets put it this way
farming hearts may be fun to you, it isnt to me. I want to do fractals/dungeons and WvW.
You can call everything farming, doesn’t mean the method of farming is the same.Is it so wrong for people to not enjoy leveling, but do enjoy the rest of the game, and just want to do that part of the game?
You mean Anet being a **** by forcing people to swing a sword 1 million time before they can enjoy their self?
Welcome to mmorpg my friend.
I’ve gotta say… GW2 has the most casual (and FAST) leveling of any MMO I’ve played in the last decade. If you find this “painful” you may want to find another genre entirely.
You do remember gw2 was advertised as “if you’ve never played an mmo this is the one for you.”
Many people here dislike other mmo’s for that exact reason. Things take too long to get to what people actually want to play.
That is an interesting question and distinction.
Is the original post about the process of leveling itself? Examples of better rewards for leveling? Speed (compared to)? Other?
Or…is this about leveling as a concept? Meaning, you want to come in Call of Duty on day one, gear up, and play ‘the end game’?
I’d like to skip leveling altogether. Chase gears/chase traits but forget the leveling.
Or make it shorter. This is my first mmo, and I find leveling to be quite dull, it’s just not what I’m after in this game.
I hope they can make chase gears shorter and make leveling longer. And I find farming legendary dull. It’s just not what I’m after in this game.

I’m sorry people like to kick me if I’m wearing rabid gear because I’m slwoing them down or I’m a bad player. Maybe I dont’ like them slowing me down by 10 second to 15 minutes.
People keep switching and I’m a bad player and can’t carry them, and some of the wipe could be prevented if people dont’ switch.
I don’t mind if people switch after the boss die(like you can do in ac path 3). I just hate people switch during boss fight. And sometimes the whole group wipe which could be prevented if “that” person didn’t switch.

If you are not crafting ascended gear, well, destroy them.
Never a good suggestion to destroy something that may have additional uses in the future. Like many people destroyed Transmutation Stones because they didn’t transmute level 1-79 items. Now they are full of regret.
you can keep it or destroy it “and” you can also whine on the forum, and “maybe” Anet will do something about it “which have a very low chance” since many people already told you why.
I think they might make more use for it, or make a wallet, but I highly doubt they’ll make it sellable on the trading post. But even that is a far fetch.
Its just your false perception to categorize those mats as loot. They were never meant to have gold value.
You get the mats from chests that means they are loot.
ArenaNet can always add a gold value to them. They can also be listed with the other Ascended items on the trading post with or without a inherent gold value (like food).
Those are just there so it “force you to play not the way you want”.
Anet want people who only do dungeon to try out world event or vice versa. Same thing with karma. So people that want karma are forced to do certain activity.
Basically Anet hope people will try to do other activity they don’t do and maybe enjoy it.
If you are having too much of things you already have, you probably enjoy the activity anyway or you are already rewarded enough that you’ll continue doing it.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
It would be great if the bloodstone, dragonite, and empyreals could be sold on the trading post because right now there is not much to do with them.
If you dont’ have a use, you can just trash them. Or you can make ascended gear.
I dont’ understand why the game suddenly become fun at lvl80.
Most of the people are just farming for whatever at lvl80 anyway. Which is exactly the samething people do before they are lvl80.
at max level, you work on permanent(ish) things like final build and equipment. Before, you don´t bother too much.
you mean like farming legendary? ya that’s exactly what I’m talking about.
I talked to my friend about this. Apparently he think I’m out of my mind for doing map completion or personal story. Because apparently that is more boring than farming cof path 1 1000 times.
I dont’ understand why the game suddenly become fun at lvl80.
Most of the people are just farming for whatever at lvl80 anyway. Which is exactly the samething people do before they are lvl80.
Also, gift of exploration, pristine relic, ascended ring, levels, dungeon token, title, skill point make those sellable too.
heck, make gw2 account sellable too.
It went up a bit. But ancient wood is on a downhill trend. There’s much less demand also.
Not sure if Anet will introduce more demand for orichalcum or wood.
I think most people probably play more than 15 minutes a day. So they’ll end up doing more than cof path 1 anyway.
Just take the time to do 1 event a day. It’ll net you 9 ingots in a month.
If anyone needs to complain it’s me(who have 25 gift of exploration) or those spvp players. We get much less rewards for the time spend.
He said he has 4 characters and 12 bank tabs. Each bank tab is 30 slots. If he dedicate 3 tabs (90 slots) per character. Each character can have up to 160 slots from bags . That’s 160+90 = 250 slots per character. And there is STILL 20 slots to spare if he is truly “max out” as he claimed.
You’ll bag will be consistent full. That’s why it isn’t pratical.
Last dumb question. Ascended gear is only for like characters? I mean cloth ascended can only work with other cloth characters?
Moot point though since Ascended gear is out of reach for me.
Yes. Ascended gear does have the Light, Medium, and Heavy classification just like every other piece of armor.
Why is Ascended gear out of reach for you?
I have a set of ascended armor. Maybe 10 ascended weapon.
But 1 character can have 3 or 4 armor set. And there are 8 class. For example guardian have soldier armor, berserker armor with traveler rune, and berseker armor with dps rune. That is just too much to replace to replace for every character.
I would like to try out new build. But in the end, it just take too much bag space so I didn’t do it.
I have the same problem. The only feasible solution is change all your exotic gear to ascended gear, so even if you run out of bank space you can purchase another character slot to store your gear.
But that is very expensive.
I end up just not making many gear set. I mean I made a rabid gear for my necro, but never use it, but dont’ want to throw away too. The lesson I learned is stop trying out new build.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
How’s the reward for it compare to general pve?
I think it’s likely they bring it back. Because our client is in sync with china client. And china players will want those old skin too when they see the wardrobe.
but that is just my guess.
Strength didn’t spike untill quite some time later I think.
I probably would bought a few. But I think the dev are trying to mislead people on not buying them during the live stream… “Oh I know you guys have your hand on the trading post, let me just assure you we did a lot of change, etc etc.” I probably would have paid more attention if I didn’t read it
I think the strength rune spike, quite some time after after the patch. Maybe a few hours later when people realize the other runes wasn’t as good. strength is obviously a good rune, so there’s a reason it goes so high. I’m sure most of the investor sold them out already, but it is still at 10 gold.
You never ran any dungeon path more than 100 times right? The thing is many people here do already. That’s why they skip.
There is nothing challenging about hitting some trash mobs. If you insist, you can buy a set of cleric gear and wack all those trash mob solo. Or if you are good. You can probably do it in berserker gear.
they could just make all the trash mobs in to interesting event. and it’ll just become another aetherblade path and which is too long “for you”.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
let me ask a question. what’s the different between running through a bunch of mob “which can kill you”, or the bulldozer puzzle in cof path 1, or elevator in asura fractal. The thing is you can actually die from skipping. Those are just puzzle to me.
If they want to make mobs non skip-able. They need to make it like the dredge fractal, or burrow in AC. Else it is just killing pointless trash mobs.
That the point, you need upgrade the rewards of mobs on dungeons or make new achivements for killing all, or hard mode dungeon.
I dont’ know about upgrade rewards. All they need is to make the mobs non skip-able. and actually make it challenging.
Why do you want to whack some mob 1 by 1. Even if you get reward it is pretty dull.
And there already are other dungeon with less skipping content you can do. Why don’t you do those.

yes the new aetherblade path and fractals is perfect for you. If you don’t like the skipping thing. Eventhough there are still some skipping in fractal, but it is a bit more limited.
I think 90% of the players are farmers. That’s the problem.
A easy way is to separate the new players from the farmers. So they don’t need to get angry at each other.
Since obviously if you ran the same dungeon 100 times, and you still do it, you must be farmers. Highly unlikely anyone ran the same dungeon 100 times, they still insist no skipping.
do people complain about flipping in the rift forum too?
I like to know how you balance trading post since the profit can go from negative big number to a really large positive big numver.
If you’re not being sarcastic, first idea that came to mind is make end products (NOT anything that could be crafted further) account-bound on purchase as if you’d equipped them.
Second idea: Make exotic gear less rare.
Sure, they have their flaws, but that’s the idea of an idea; a sketch to be worked out. What would it change, if we make precursors AC on purchase? It was mentioned and explained many times, even by Devs, that it would change nothing at the price of them because prices are driven by supply and demand of the general player base.
And how is exotic gear rare/expensive? It takes about 5-10 hours to fully gear a character in exotics.
And both changes, if they were implemented, would change nothing of the way and magnitude, tp merchants make their gold.
I think they just want to cut the profit for flippers/investers. So they’ll have miserable gold per hour too.
I like to know how you balance trading post since the profit can go from negative big number to a really large positive big numver.
For general inflation we might want to look at higher velocity items not linked to low velocity spike prone items.
every item is linked is it not?
you need almost “every item” for legendary. Even the tier 5 material is tied to legendary since mystic forge probably produced a handful of legendary.
you can do the new aetherblade ta path. I dont’ think that’s skippable.
I think hearing from all the complaint. Anet might make new dungeon not skippable. That’s what they did with aetherblade path.
I tested on the last boss of cof path 1. Didn’t dodge at all. The lighting strike give a 6.27%
Obviously too many thing to consider, I have frenzy, and we have a mesmer, but I tested in a pug so I’m not in haste most of the time. I didn’t have much downtime since I didn’t dodge, and have 3 stun breaker. I only used an exotic mace so that’ll tilt the result a bit also.
Overall it isn’t a terrible sigil, not great though since it is only single target. Might be more useful if you have more downtime in a fight. Obviously if you can’t keep up with frenzy it isn’t too useful.

Have anyone test it, how is sigil of air compare to the other sigil.
It seemed do quite a bit of damage when I’m just doing map completion in the open world. But I dont’ know how to test consistend damage, since every mob die in a few hit in the open world.
I think it is the highest single dps sigil assuming for a build with high crit, but I’m not sure how to test it. And the boost is even more significant if you are not always hiting your target, eg. dodging.
I think obviously the cons of air is it only work for single target. Which obivously force/bloodlust/accuracy/fire etc works when you are hitting multiple target.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I actually hope someone give a reason for this.
Superior sigil of air seemed to be the highest single dps rune (if i’m not wrong, a bit hard to test when every mob dye in a few hit in the open world). I would guess it should be a more popular rune.
But obviously the cons of sigil of air is you do less dps on group mobs. While force/bloodlust/accuracy etc works if you are hitting multiple target.
I think obviously if people are dealing with real life money, they will be more careful. But since people are only dealing with virtual goods, the end results is this:
Which lead me to believe people complain more about flipping in GW2 is because of the stock market trading system they use. Which is much more beneficial to flippers.
But some one also point out the ebay system is more susceptible to manipulation. Since when sellers are trying to manipulate the price by bumping price. The buyers have a higher chance to pay the manipulated price, since they dont’ want to “wait for their auction to end”.
I think obviously, GW2 might use the stock market system for technical reason. Since with the sheer volume of listing when all server using the same exchange, it’s probably better to use the stock market system.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Basically 2 different trading post system. The Ebay system which most mmorpg use. And the stock market system GW2 use.
In the ebay system, the seller set a minimum bid, an optional buyout price, and an expire date. If your item don’t sell before the expire date, you’ll loss your deposit fee.
There is also the stock market system GW2 use. Basically the buy order and sell order system.
My question is “in a mmorpg setting”, which system is more beneficial to flippers? And which system is more susceptible to market manipulation?
In Rift I could control, at least for a day, the goods that were available and you either had to go out into the world and farm or buy from me at a price I set. Here you can either farm, buy from me, or buy from any of dozens of other sellers who are competing with me, or place a buy order for the amount you’re willing to pay.
Do you understand this?
You are probably right. This is quite a confusing topic for me myself. I have a hard time figure out which system is more manipulative.
I’m not talking about server hopping and isolated server though. Since that’s a different topic.
I’m create a seperate post since this is kind of getting off topic, and I hope I can get some more insight from other people so that’ll probably help me understand better.
Nice talking to you.
all you said is you server hop. and you buy out an item which is limited supply. If people want to buy items cheap they can just place a cheaper bid.
If that’s the case. You can do it even if Rift use the GW2 system.
Place a cheaper bid for what?
There are 10 pieces of oak wood for sale at a minimum bid/buy price of 10s each. I buy all 10 and relist them for 25s each.
There are 10 pieces of oak wood for sale at a minimum bid/buy price of 25s each. How do you place a lower bid when this is the minimum you can pay for them?
You have absolutely no comprehension of what I tried to explain to you. You can’t bid on items that are not offered for sale. In GW2 you can place an order saying “I will pay 6s each for 10 pieces of oak wood” if you don’t want to pay 10s each. You can’t do that in Rift.
How do you buy out everything when there are items without a buyout price. You can bid 6 silver in rift too, just like you can in GW2.
And if you meant to tell me you want to manipulate by out bidding the 6 silver. You can do that in GW2 also, just keep bumping buy order price. Both way, there are always manipulator in either system. There are no difference.
I understand the part where the ebay system punish the buyer. That’s what you are trying to say. Since buyers can’t take advantage of people quick selling to buy items at much cheaper price. Which is exactly why this is a disadvantage on flippers.
Just like having an expire date punish the flippers. So if their items don’t sell, they have to pay at a much higher price.
You didnt’ make more money because of the Rift auction house. If it’s the GW2 system, you probably make even more since you can bid the wood at cheaper price. Not to mention if your items dont’ sell within the expire time, you are punished in Rift but not GW2.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Im just letting them know, where i believe they are making mistakes. Thats what feedback is about. And no, not everything they do is the best answer just because they do it. They make mistakes just like anyone else. If people dont try to change things then nothing ever progresses.
You’ve said your piece over and over and over and over. When does it stop being “feedback” and become “noise?”
The current system is an improvement over other MMOs – see my post above about my AH manipulations in Rift. It’s incredibly easy to take any amount of money in that game and double it in less than a week, then double that the next week, and so on, until you are sitting on more money than you can spend.
all you said is you server hop. and you buy out an item which is limited supply. If people want to buy items cheap they can just place a cheaper bid.
If that’s the case. You can do it even if Rift use the GW2 system.
If I said anything wrong, I’ll actually admit wrong. I just dont’ understand the internet generation which no one admit they said anything wrong.
I can’t believe you are old enough to have a wife and talk the way you do.
I’m 43 years old and I’ve been conversing via the internet for around 20 years now. If I don’t know what I’m talking about, I learn from people who do. You do not know what you’re talking about.
I don’t care whether you believe me or not.
You said having 1 uniform buy and sell price will help the evil TP Baron manipulate the price. Since they can keep buying out and relist item for more expensive price.
I said no, since if it is like the system most games use(what they use on ebay), you’ll loss listing fee if your item don’t sell. And since people can still bid on items without paying the buyout price, they dont’ need to pay the price TP Baron put up.
I suppose you’ll just stop using reasons to discuss the topic like you did last time. I really like the “what people say don’t matter since they are the minority” to talk out of every discussion.
Actually I have played other MMOs and the process I described is a method I’ve used to make money there.
If you really played other mmorpg you’ll know what you said is wrong. Most mmorpg use the same system ebay is using. An action auction house which have a min bid and buyout option. People will still be able to bid lower than you do.
Sure you can buy out all wood and relist it for 2 silver. The problem is there is still min bid option so people can still buy it cheaper. And obviously you’ll be charge for listing fee if your wood didn’t sell.
The GW2 system use a system more like the stock market.
If you want to explain a concept, first you have to have some idea of what you’re talking about. Sorry, but I can’t recall ever seeing a post from you that made sense, let alone contained correct information.
You’re not in a position to teach me anything.
If I said anything wrong, I’ll actually admit wrong. I just dont’ understand the internet generation which no one admit they said anything wrong.
I can’t believe you are old enough to have a wife and talk the way you do.

If you really played other mmorpg you’ll know what you said is wrong. Most mmorpg use the same system ebay is using. An action auction house which have a min bid and “possible” buyout option.
The thing is there will always be flippers. It’s just the GW2 system favors the flippers more compare to the ebay system.

Besides arn’t you the one saying people buying out item isn’t manipulation. Something along the line that with every item that people buy out there is equal number of items in another persons bag…. or whatever. Maybe my memory is fuzzy.
Not me.
But what you are proposing is to rip apart the system that exists now, making it easier for those evil “TP Barons” to manipulate the system, not harder. Buy orders allow every player to say “those sellers want too much for (item), I’m going to make an offer to pay (lower price).” Without it every buyer has no choice but to pay what the sellers are asking.
If I recall correctly. I think other mmorpg have a listing fee and a expire time. And if item dont’ sell, you still have to pay a listing fee.
Actually I’m not even sure, since my memory is fuzzy. Kind of forget about how other game operate since it’s been a year since I played another mmorpg. I think other game just put some limit on their trading post so what you say obviously never happen.
Have you played other mmorpg before? If you havn’t, it’s hard to describe to you. Since what you said never happen in other game.
Crafting mats or rare drops, the effect is the same. The ability to choose between instant purchase (sell order) or a better price (buy order) is an improvement over other game’s auction houses and trading systems. Removing this choice makes the system less useful, not better.
I’m just trying to offer suggestion to some flippers who felt morally wrong. Obviously it dont’ work on the people who don’t have high moral value.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Flipper-s-Paradise-So-why-do-I-feel-bad
I dont see, how this would stop price spikes. Price spikes are usually caused by high demand and all your suggestion would do is concentrate sell listings around the actual price. But once the supply on the tp is used up, it wouldnt prevent the price to rise.
If your system was in place and wood costs 1s on average, so the minimum buy order i can put in is 65c and the highest price i can list it is 1.35s.
Now i am buying up wood because i think in a month or 2, wood will be in demand and will be worth 2s. Right now i have the possibility to post it at 2s, making it available supply for everybody. If i cant post it at 2s, i just hold on to it and wait until the price rises. Once it does, you wont have many listings between 1.35s and 2s and beyond to prevent an even higher price spike.why not just take away buy order system. If you want to buy something go buy from the cheapest item on the trading post. That’s what most game uses.
And don’t start telling me about convenient. If you undercut by 20% to the usual price, I’m sure it’ll get sold instantly.
So instead of buy orders for wood I buy everything for sale that’s less than 2s and relist it for 2s. If I’m watching the market I can continue buying up everything I see <2s and relisting it, so most people buying wood to craft with have no choice but to buy from me, at the price I want to charge.
This is a much better system. I’d rather have people buying from me at the price I determine than placing buy orders at whatever price they are willing to pay for items.
That’s the system every game use. It already happening in this game. People buying up low supply item and re list it.
I was hoping Wanze saying something like “the price will go to equilibrium faster” =).
If you really want to buy up the wood and re list it go ahead. It’s not like you can’t farm them.
Besides arn’t you the one saying people buying out item isn’t manipulation. Something along the line that with every item that people buy out there is equal number of items in another persons bag…. or whatever. Maybe my memory is fuzzy.

Banker golem only lasts 2 weeks, I want a sort of permanent solution lol…
well you have permanent bank license. permanent solution.
just not a cheap one.
Each time I read a post like this I’m more and more convinced that the players who get really upset about not having enough gold are all really just frustrated that they can’t get a Legendary weapon easily.
Yep. You’ll also notice they come out in force whenever there’s a big shock that affects the precursor market, like the wardrobe did – precursor prices spike in response to much higher demand, and the economy is falling apart all around us. Cats living with dogs and all that, what is the world coming to?
ya but does it ever occur to you that there is just less t5 material in games. Not saying what you say is wrong. But there is also other things to consider.
I like all the expert claiming price will drop and we will have a long time of deflation. Just because the theoretically 80% gold supply nerf from champ bag.
I think they over simplified the economy model. I think there is a deflation for say “maybe” the gem-exchange. But many other thing the inflation is even worse because the supply of crafting material supply also decrease.
Because it wouldnt change anything. I would even argue that this would make prices easier manipulated because they only have 1 value, not 2.
Price fluctuation would be way higher than right now.
I dont’ know what is this manipulation you are talking about. Several people claim there is no such thing as manipulation in this game.
And you will severely cut the flipping profit if there is only 1 price.
There is probably way too many supply and demand shock with every patch. Those are probably unavoidable.
