It just shows we should never do pug, or be elitist and gear check everthing and kick noobs and anyone who isn’t doing well, not to mention lvl80 only.
Sorry for the whine, last time I complain, but that is kind of the reality.
Why is CoE an offender? The only complaint at this point should be that you have to fight Subject Alpha 9 times across 3 paths and that just speaks of lazy design and is incredibly boring. Even then, it’s fairly easy.
Maybe his teamates is bad, that is what make it hard. The guy probalby already did the dungeon 100+ times, yet it is still hard because he got bad pick up, that’s the problem.

There is no Problem with difficult Dungeons, even if they are 5 ppl.
But IF I complete a very hard way, I exspect to gain something out of it, why should I go a hard way, if the reward for using the easy way is exactly the same?

If they want to make hard dungeon, they should put it on a timer. So people know that the hard dungeon is serious and not suppose to be run in pug. Since the same people are locked up for the dungeon and they can only do it say once every few days.
You know what your problem is? For some reason you think that 5 man Dungeons are supposed to be easy and everything with more players involved should be difficult. This is not WoW or other games that allow such big group of peoples, this is GW2. There is nothing above 5 man groups for instanced PvE and that’s why 5 man dungeons can also be hard.
I’m not talking about 5 man or raid. I’m talking about “fixed group” or “pug”. Warhammer have hard 5 man dungeon too(at least when I played it a few years ago), And people are running it in fixed group like raid. The timer is what make people do fixed group.
I dont’ have problem with 5 man dungeon being hard. The problem is I already done the dungeon 100+ times. Yet the dungeon is still hard because I have to put up with bad players I pick up. The dungeon in warhammer are even harder, but I just finish the dungeon a few times, get my gear and move on.
And I’m not even talking about myself. That is what happen in pug in this game. The dungeon start goign bad, people start insulting each other or kick people out of group, or rage quit after a single wipe. If you havn’t seen gwlfg people start to gear check everything and not invite newbies.
My question to Anet is if they are making those hard dungeon, are we suppose to run it in a pug? That is my question.

^ yes people do the same dungeon over and over again till they get the specific drop or tokens for gear. After that they move on to raiding.
But in this game you do it forever. Running the same dungeon 100+ times for gold? That’s the problem. If people already did the dungeon 100+ times, they get very irritated when someone new mess up. Remember there is no raiding, so doing the same dungeon is the only thing you can do.
In raids you are generally running with the same people, and you want to kill the boss since you never kill it before. And after the first kill every kill after it become easier since it is the same group.

edit: I understand your point on new comers joining raids, but that’s the exception right? In general raids arn’t pug, that is the point.

First of all, talking about other MMO is very rude in a mmorpg’s general forum. That is sort of like advertisement.
But what I meant is people dont’ get “as upset” in other mmorpg because they only need to successfully conquer the dungeon a few times. People rage quit in other games too of course, it’s just GW2 is much worse.
But in this game dungeon is the only end game content and people are forced to do it over and over again “and when vets get paired up with newcomers” they become very irritated.
I run enough pug and see enough people havior. It is pretty bad in this game. All those elitist only want to play with each other. And when anyone did anything wrong, people start yelling and making sarcastic comment.

Oh haven’t you noticed it? The game has no “raids” the dungeons are the “hardcore” part of this game. Most of them are sadly enough way too easy.
That is the problem right? No raids.
Else most people only need to successfully run the same dungeon a few times and move on with their life.(or raid)
Now they have to do the same dungeon over and over again and tolerate those lesser experienced pug. (or more like yelling at them, kick them, or gear check them and try the best not to group with them)

A bunch of dungeon vets(mostly elitism who ask for gear check) are forced to do the same dungeon 100+ times for money or token(or simply because there is no other endgame pve because “No Raiding!”) get paired up with noob and rage quit after a single wipe. (not to mention they don’t forget to insult people before they rage quit).
The problem is the reward.
When the reward for dungeon is mostly gold, people is less torelable to failure, because it is inefficnet gold/hour.
And because the reward is gold, players are forced to do the same dungeon over and over again and it became frustrated when their teamates isn’t good.
I failed dungeon way more in other games, never get frustrated. But for this reason dungeon failure is way more frustrating in this game.

I think a mixed warrior/thief group is better than a full warrior group.
I don’t know who have higher dps, but a thief with warrior buff probably out dps a warrior who self buff. So I think mix group have higher dps.
I mean I see mixed group kill first boss from full hp to 0 in 1 TW, or last boss from full to 20% hp. I never seen that done in a full warrior group.
if i’m at fotm 11 and I did fotm 14.
will I still get daily done and possibly get ring from chest? Since I’m at an odd personal level doing even fotm level.
I have no idea. Tone down but by how much? Need to compare the stats.
I get toned up in wvw too but as far as I know killing a normal monster as level 40 is like killing a veteran on my level80.
I’m a vigil. I think I killed zhaitan. My story mode is complete.
But I never done the quest steel tide and I want the berserker spineguard. So what happened? can someone explain?
Unless it is a quest before kill zhaitan and I did it and I vendored it…

I understand fotm takes 20 days to get 2 ascended rigns but laurel takes like 50 days.
But what you forget is you are comparing 50 days of doing nothing(since people do dailys anyway for karma) to 20 days of doing fotm 30 times(or 115 mini dungeon).
It is like people complaining about ascended back piece in fotm. Do you realize ascended back piece takes 80 gold(berserker) or 1850 fractal relics? The grind is insane. For all I know please add ascended backpiece to laurel too. I’m not grinding 80 gold or 1850 fractal relics.
I mean I like this game, actually do enjoy fotm, but I rather play other aspect of the game than grind fotm “that much”

I have no idea. I’m acutally a warrior in Tsuiki’s group before, with 2 thief.
And ironically, that was the fastest run I ever did. And I do about 60 cof speed run a day.( I only start doing cof run recently )

I find it weird other class isn’t even trying to form a speed run group. I tried looking around on gwlfg, and there’s only memser/warrior.
There are 6 other class. Even if they do it a bit slower, shouldn’t they at least try to form a group?
I want to do speed run on my other character too, but apparently there isn’t any available most of the time.

They need some carrot on the stick for new content. That’s why they didn’t release everything now.
I don’t even know why people’s asking. Just look at the exotic gear now. You can’t craft all the stats combination. You can’t do the same dungeon and get all the stats combination. Pvp wont’ give you all the stast combination. Karma vendor only give a few combination.
The new stats combination will come out when those new content is out. And they don’t want the jewelcrafter complain their profession is useless so they have to save a few combination.

I don’t know but as a person who run pug for money I really don’t like the idea for making dungeon harder.
If they want to make dungeon harder, force us to do premade group. Do progression dungeon with timer so we are forced to do premade with them. Sort of like 5 man raiding.
Another problem I see in this game is people only do dungeon for money. And when you make the dungeon harder, people just don’t do them. Since it is more profitable to do “other” dungeon or “other” things.

I’m a big fan of the epic chinese ancient war, sango.
Basically the history is you have 3 side fighting and the war get on and on because when one side get too powerful the other 2 side team up to fight the 3rd side.
Now the thing with GW2 wvw is there is no politic involve. The biggest zerg always win. The other 2 side never tried to team up.
So why not add “politic” in to wvw. allow ways for server to team up with other server. Maybe an UI for the server to vote if they want to sign peace treaty, or sign alliance so they can team up on the 3rd server.
Make the game more interesting is it?
And for the expansion why limit wvw to 3 server. maybe we can do 4 or 5 or 6 server or smashing in 1 epic battleground.
just want to make sure before I vendor it. You can’t mystic forge superior sigil/rune right? only major?
And should I just vendor it? don’t seem too much use if you can’t mystic forge it.
So you guys manage to finish it everytime in pug? I really don’t believe it.

Please stop telling me how everyone of you can go melee. I’m just saying you have to admit a majority of pug there’s many who don’t.
Anyway, people should be more tolerable to other. This is a game after all, and people should play whatever class/build/weapon they want. Maybe those guardian that use staff/scepor just want to role play a princess. That’s how I think now.

I might be mislead that heavy armor class is more tanky since I’m always meleeing so the dungeon can be faster. And all those other class just hide behind melee and don’t share the damage they should be taking.
And tell them to stop kiting. Since I have to stand still to do hundred blade.
And the reason I asked if you have multiple 80 is because I want to make sure I’m talking to someone with actual experence with the subject instead of some theory craft.
Sure thing… my mesmer is often in the front lines with his sword in hand. And my elementalist has been running around with dual daggers for nearly the entire time since launch, long before it became a flavor of the month. And then there’s my necro and his hard hitting dagger… but lets not forget how many hits my engineers shield has stopped in the midst of his melee bomb fields….
Ya this discover makes me angry. I’m upset enough I keep doing this dungeon and every guardian is using sceptor the entire dungeon.
Now I have to take a hard look at other light/medium player too. I always let it go since I always thought they are more fragile. They didn’t have a choice. Now I realize they are just bad players.

So you are some expert on all class since you tried all of them? Have a 80 of every class and actually do dungeon with all of them before?
Guardian have a passive health regen, how can he be more fragile than everyone?
yes I would still play if they took out all loot. I just won’t be “farming” any more like I was forced to.
Wanting only “heavy armors” is a very noobish statement (basically noobs trying to sound elitist…) as there are a lot of factors involved in survival.
Well, Do you want to group with 4 other noob heavy armor or 4 other noob light armor player? I think the anwser is obvious.
That’s the thing. I’m a noob player with no skill. And let me tell you I perform much better on my warrior/guardian than the other class, because I got no skill.
And yes there are other player with no skill just like me. Infact quite many too.

It is usually cheaper to craft your own gear. Mainly because the 15% AH tax fee.
Unless I’m wildly off base and have been oblivious, this fee happens when selling, not when buying. Part of it is the ‘listing fee’ to put things up on the TP, and a portion of the actual sale vanishes into the ether of gold sink… so, there’s no disadvantage to buying gear off the TP except that savy sellers may be ‘marking up’ because of the overhead of the fee.
What I mean is most seller don’t sell things at material price since they need to pay a tax fee. On top of that they try to make a “slim” profit.
If an item cost 3 gold to craft, the chance you find it for sell for less than 3.45 gold isn’t high. So actually be able to craft an item yourself can save you money. Not necessary make you money, but it does save money.
My experience is you kind of make everything and hope the other person don’t undercut you. You can make 1 item and another person make a bunch and undercut you by 1 copper.
if it is profitable, you just get people kill trade for loot.
I tried to go in fotm level1 and just solo farm the fractal marsh for vial. the mob don’t seem to drop anything. Does it work any more?
There might be some fractal you can solo farm for a mist. I tried a few of the fractal, don’t work out so well. For example I tried to solo farm water fractal too, mob don’t seem to drop much when I am soloing, I’m not sure why.

I’m wearing full berserker, and at the part where 4 people have to stand at the pillar where someone have to kill the controller I keep dieing.
What utility skill should I use, and I’m using long bow and short bow, not exactly aoe power to kill those charr minion.

Adding new gear phase out old gear and content. So that is why they add in it “slowly”. They dont’ want people to stop doing the old content, and other player get upset their hard earned exotic get phase out so quickly.
They are probably not there because you will be able to craft it in the future. The question is how long it’ll take them to add it. I dont’ think very soon, since if you can craft ascended gear easily, that will make many of their other content obsolete.

ya I mean stabiilty and doyalk signet have 40 and 60 second cooldown.
I dont’ think it is so much melee is bad for the cof path 2 event. What I think is if you are a warrior and you are the only (1 or 2) meleeing, expect to have a hard time.
A heavy melee team can work because there’s multiple people sharing hit.
ya I mean “Engineer, 2 Necros, Ranger and an Ele” That is how you get through cof path 2.
If you have cough cough warrior it’ll be harder. Most warrior use hundred blade for aoe. But now they can’t tank 100 mob and have knockdown on them.
can you farm for a couple of hour?
If the answer is yes. Just go in fotm poral and keep resetting it till you get the marsh fractal and keep grinding untill you get a vial to drop.
It is really farming not actually doing fractal.

I think full warrior may work since there’s more people taking hit. but i dont’ even think warrior is good compare to other range aoe class.

ya i think warrior/guardian isn’t even good at this event. you want other class that can aoe at range.
A few things that made me frustrated with necro is I can’t destroy structure things. So the turret and burrow takes forever to finish. May it is the condition build.
And I keep wondering why play a necro when my warrior rifle better than necro at range and can take hit. I don’t mind warrior being better at melee. But why is warrrior better at range?
Only downside is warrior aoe range sucks. I guess I’m just frustrated and should learn to play.
^Not really if you’re playing Fractals at high level. As now you are abandoning possible extra agony resistance with magic find.
ya for sure fractal you need agony resist. But for everything else it’s fine? If you doing cof, coe, hotw, or whatever. People get upset with other people wearing mf gear. Now they shouldn’t since the boost is too tiny.
I actually really love the change.
You know how everyone is complaining about mf gear and people use it in dungeon?
Now there is actually a reason for “everyone” to use it. Since a +4 tougness or +4 healing boost is too tiny, everyone should be using ascended gear with mf infusion.
Which class is good(or easy) to play beside warrior and guardian?
I’ve been trying to do dungeon on my condition necro and it is quite frustrating. So beside warrior/guardian which class do you think come after as the 3rd best dungeon class.
If I run cof1 cof2 cof3, and immediately switch to another alt and finish another cof1 1 hour after my first cof1 run, am I hit by diminishing return?
Since I thought DR refresh after 2 hour. But another person keep telling me it’ll reset anyway if you run another 2 path.
I’m going to run 0/30/30/0/10, dual pistol
firearm for pistol, invention for turnet, 10 in tools for permanent run speed
My question comes down to carrion vs rabid. What are the pros and cons of each? Carrion is more offensive and rabid is more defensive?
