Engineer endgame gear?

in Engineer

I really don’t know what build to use. I suppose the reason I ask for gear first since it is easy to swap skill/trait but not gear.

I think my main question is wheater people will go carrion(power/vitality/condition dmg) or rabid(percision/condition/toughness) or knight(power/toughness/percision)

Engineer endgame gear?

So, I dont’ think I’ll do any dungeon or world vs world and only use engineer for world completion.

I’m going to run 0/30/30/0/10, dual pistol, utility is 3 turret

firearm for pistol, invention for turnet, 10 in tools for permanent run speed

My question comes down to carrion vs rabid. What are the pros and cons of each? Carrion is more offensive and rabid is more defensive?

They’re getting preettyyyyy picky these days.

Why are they posting on the site looking for pugs when they don’t want any pugs. Such… can we even call these things people?

There is no rule PUG have to be complete noobs. And it is not always easy to find guildmates that want to do the same dungeon as you.

I got 4 lvl80 and there are times I do 15 dungeon path a day. You can’t expect your guildmate always want to come.

My point was that they are asking for 3 pugs when their own post said they don’t want any pug. That statement is self-contradictory.

I dont’ know. I think it is just an alternate way of saying no noob. It is just unimportant terminology people use. I’m sure most people reading it know they mean no noob.

Anyway, I’m not personally an elitist, quite honestly most of the time I’m just happy to get a fast group forming. I’m just saying I understand why people behave that way.

…so you can be a noob at level 80?

Yes I am indeed a newbie at lvl80 on my first character. And that just show how important experience is. The first few dungeon I did, my groupmate is slowed down by my noobness.

I mean you make fun of the lvl80 noob and praise the lvl30 person on their 5th alt right? That is actually the topic here. People dont’ want to group with under geared, under level, under skilled, “or” no experienced player.

I used to do alot of dungeons. Maybe 10+ per day.

My 2 cent is how many of those newbie take their time to watch dungeon video before so they won’t slow their party down.

I watch video before I do dungeon so I won’t slow my party down. I level to 80 and gear up before I do AC so I’ll be at my fullest potential to do dungeon so I won’t slow my party down. How many people actually think that way. Most people dont’ think it that way, they just think running AC is a good and fast way to level.

This isn’t about newbie or elitist, it is just about human natural. Are people always that thoughtful of others? I dont’ think so. Being selfish is human natural.

I’ve found a very high correlation between people saying “no noobs” and those people being being noobs. Or really bad players, to be more precise.

ya I mean can you blame them? even the newbie don’t want to group with newbie.

And for people pittying the newbie how many of those newbie actually bother to watch a 30 minutes dungeon video before they do it so they won’t slow the party down.

Being selfish and being genorous and helpful are both human natural. This is just how the way society works.

Doing what, exactly?
I have yet to find anything profitable in crafting. Everything on the market is set at break even, at best, except the raw mats which are laughably overpriced.

Easier to just farm and leave crafting as the joke that it is, or… well… dump crafting for the joke that it is; outfitting low level alts is about the only use I see in it.

I never say making money through crafting, I say people can make 1-5 gold an hour doing whatever, dungeon, grinding, whatever.

If you think it that way crafting dont’ even cost much to level. So whats the big deal to put some money into it.

What’s the big deal to spend an hour or 2 to max a crafting profession.

If you intend to “buy” your exotic it is cheaper to craft. Mainly due to the 15% tax fee.

So instead of buying the exotic it is more cost effective to craft. Of course you can just ask your guildmate to craft for you though.

I think you should just finish it consider you are already 225. I think the main thing is crafting really isn’t that expensive. Consider most people dont’ have a problem making 1-5 gold an hour.

ya I think they want to get away from the idea of “raiding”. Before you tell me a 5 man dungeon isn’t raiding. I just think progressional dungeon which is only possible by dedicated group is consider raiding.

I played a game which have 5 man dungeon but that is sort of like raiding, since there is a timer, and you always do it in dedicated group since it is not pugable, and you have to be get geared from one dungeon to progress to the next. Which is sort of like raiding.

But if you meant to tell me GW2 is punishing dedicated group because you can’t assign loot like other raiding game which use DKP it is a bit far stretched.

If you really are dedicated you’ll be farming those glob and vial solo and not complaining.

The only thing that really rely on luck is 2 lvl10 daily ring, and there is pristine relic. And it is not very hard consider you can use alt to get pristine relic too. Your alt dont’ even need to be high level.

And really, you just need to get a ring, any ring, it don’t have to be a ring of your spec. It makes little difference “for the dungeon”. Since you said yourself fotm isn’t very hard. If you really are dedicated, it is not hard to get those AR.

And before you tell me you are not complaining about AR and just RNG, reread your title. “Why is Anet punishing dedicated group”. So I presume you are complaining about you can’t get enough AR to progress with your group. Since RNG is a %#&*( for PUG too.

The thing is no one will bother with anything if you just “craft it cheaply”.

And if you start allow people to craft “really expensive ascended gear”, people complain about pay to win.

Me personally I maxed all profession, and I’m happy we arn’t able to craft ascended gear. If you think spending 5 gold is expensive to level up jewelcrafting. Imagine spending 50 gold for a piece of ascended gear, and a few hundred gold for a set.

I think it is just natural progression, they want to exhaust their content, make people do other things and use ascended gear as carrot on a stick. Which is hard to do when ascended gear can be bought cheaply by a couple of coin.

Question: Regarding server population

And quite hoestly I never went to my server’s Lion Arch area, because I’m always on overflow. The only time I visit my server’s Lion Arch is to check its population, and like you said there’s no people, but everytime I enter Lion Arch I’m still placed in overflow.

Which is a good thing, how else are we going to do fotm if no one is in overflow.

And they did allow more people to transfer twice, one during christmas, and another just a week ago. I think full is just an arbitrary term that they dont’ want you to transfer there. Most likely because they want to spread the population between servers. I don’t know if it is for social reason, technology reason or economic reason. But I think it is mostly they just don’t want you to go there.

What need to be remedied is the fact people can use a 1 person guild to store item.

There should be a minimum activety or influence requirement to keep a guild operational.

And I’m pretty sure if you are in a 400 guild, “some one” knows that the guild item isn’t transfered. Most of the time there are plenty of guildie server hopping just for map completion. So it is quite impossible for a large guild wanting to transfer server and no one knows the guild itself can’t transfer to another server.

I could be naked and use rifle on my warrior and I’m probably the last one to die. It is not hard to die if you just stay max ranged and auto attack.

The thing is the way the game desgined usually the closer you are to mob, you deal more damage and provide more utility to help your team.

And the truth is I’m not sure mf is even important “for dungeon”. Mf player says they arn’t really gimping the team because the stats is minicure, but isn’t the mf boost minicure too.

I mean most of the reward come from chest and token. If mf influenced chest or the amount of token I’ll use it myself, but they don’t. There isn’t even that mob to kill in most dungeon. So mf isn’t helping much.

Not trying to be negative here, but I would prefer they eliminate MF altogether, eliminate DR, and fix the drop rates. Simple is often best.

I think the same, but like i said, removing magic find gear sounds a bit impossible… I think that this will please almost everyone.

That is why you dont’ need to remove it. Just make it so everyone can max mf without mf gear. It will have an impact on the economy though, since if everyone have more mf, theoretically there will be more item drop.

I think it would have a serious impact on people who play on alts. One of the things about GW1 and GW2 that draws a lot of people is that once you have max level and max gear, you work for cosmetics. I frequently flip between lvl 80 alts based on the compisition of the group I’m playing with and group needs…..

If we had a paragon system, I might be forced to either a) grind all of my alts to max level paragon so that I can once again swap between alts and get the same game play experience, or b) choose between bringing the best character for the group / dungeon, or bringing the one that will get the best loot.

Down vote from me, sorry mate.

they had this discussion in diablo3. The answer even though they didn’t implement it is “account wide paragon system”.

People can compensate glass-cannony gear with their skills and stats (having skills with block and immunity helps a lot). I do understand your concern, it’s just weird for me that people hate a certain gear type so much. The funny thing is that most of the time they don’t even notice that a person is wearing it. Though if the person accidentally ends up telling that he is wearing it… Ugh hell galore.

Of course it is hard to notice if people is wearing it or not. Since most of the time “noob” is what determine if the dungeon run goes smoothly. And you have to take in consideration class choice and weapon choice.

But I know for a fact, I notice a difference if I’m wearing MF gear or not. I know I won’t be able to remove condition as easily. I see I take more dmg. I see I deal less dmg with those number popping up.

I mean, do you not notice you take more dmg, you dont’ do as much dmg, and you don’t have those rune utility?

1. How would magic find be different from heavy, light and medium corrupted orrian, dredge and knight armor sets when you choose toughness as your main stat, power, precision as secondary? Magic find uses put out the exact same amount of damage as those people.
2. How do you know that the person does less? We had a mesmer with MF once that was putting out the most damage due to confusion, was tanking due to all the blocking abilities he had and kept on getting people up while making himself immune to AoE.

You keep talking about dmg. People choose those toughness/vitality so they can stay up longer.

And more importantly. For most class, people choose those toughness/vitality “so they can melee” and do more dmg.

And those utility rune do make a huge difference. Condition removal shout build. or 2/2/2 boon duration for guardian.

And like I said, I don’t even want to do pug with glasscannon. Now a glasscannon using mf just make it more annoying. I don’t mean it as I dont’ play with people that wear berserker. I mean glasscannon as in people wearing no vit/toughness who keep dieing(or people who should be meleeing to do more dmg and keep using range)

well, I think magic find don’t help that much for dungeon. because actually most of the reward come from chest. So even if I do have a magic find set I don’t use it.

I think the issue is if I don’t use magic find so the group can run more smoothly, why should other people use it.

I play warrior/guardian mostly. Wearing normal gear is much more efficient. For example the shout rune which remove condition. And more toughness and vitality to stay up longer.

I dont’ think it is so much about berserker vs explorer. It is more about those people wearing explorer could be using more vitality/toughness. Typically I don’t like to run dungeon with glasscannon. And now a glass cannon using magic find just make me dislike them more.

funny argument because if 5 people hit you, you are probably dead.

If 5 people with 100 dmg hit you, you get hit with 500 dmg.

If 5 people with 5% more dmg hit you that is 525 dmg. 25% of 500 is still 5%. so no you are still getting hit 5% more dmg.
