Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Main issue is that people that use several characters for WvW is most likely using them for different things, and therefore would want to spend points on different abilities.
Maybe you couldn’t. Okay, the giant worm and explosive kegs was a bit challenging but I managed to complete it with some clever flagging. The Underworld was always fun.
No, it was actually IMPOSSIBLE to solo certain things in GW1. As in, couldn’t be done at all, no matter how good you where.
No, but you could solo everything in GW1. So…as stated previously….why should GW2 be any different in that regard?
I didn’t buy this game expecting a WoW clone but it seems Anet is turning it into one.
No you couldn’t.
It could still take up the same amount of time opening each individual bag much like it does with crafting multiple quantities of items, but sitting here and clicking is not my idea of fun. It is in fact painful.
Crafting actually speeds up quite a bit when doing large quantities though.
One thing you can do however is to open them as soon as you get them, instead of first farming several hundred of them and then open them.
I did read up on GW2. Nowhere did it mention that 5 man dungeons would be mandatory to complete the storylines.
And nowhere did it mention that you would be able to solo every single thing in the game either.
So you decided to ruin Fight Club and got ran over for it
Now you are posting about it asking anet to punish those players who decided to use thier $60 they spent differently than you.
Shoulda just left it alone mate
Well, they are the ones that is destroying WvW for those of us that actually want to play, by making queues and not doing anything useful at all.
Yes, it was (and still is). You need to go read the definition of ‘mmo’.
I came to GW2 expecting gameplay similar to GW1 and not a WoW clone. 5 man dungeons are utter garbage. As I have stated many times, if I wanted to run a 5 man, I would have stuck with WoW.
And you need to look up the company that made the game is questions genre for said game.
They have been quite clear that GW1 is not a MMO, and so should everyone else that have actually played it. GW1 is a CORPG (Competitive online role-playing game).
There are no presistent world. All zones (other than the cities/outposts) are completely empty but for your own party.
If you came to GW2 expecting GW1 with prettier graphics you clearly didn’t read up on the game before buying it.
I would say because they have learned from GW1.
In GW1 every single mini was trade-able.
There were a few very rare minis (like 5 or so of one kind that existed in the whole game) and those more or less kittened up the whole economy because of their ridiculous value.
No, this will simply make it easier and less time-consuming for botters and stuff like that, so I would say it is a rather bad idea.
You won’t regain the current rune if you put another rune on it.
It will get destroyed.
The only way to regain a rune is to salvage the armor (only black lion salvage kit have 100% chance of regaining it) but that also means the armor gets destroyed.
I played GW1 for years and never joined a guild or had to group with anyone. I used my Heroes/Henchies for all dungeons.
MMO =/= Group up to complete content
MMO = Seeing other ‘real’ people in the gameworld and nothing more.
But then again GW1 wasn’t a MMO either, so that really doesnt count, do it?
Dungeons and events should be Soloable or at least Duo-able for those of us who primarily play MMOs with a significant other.
When I read about a cool new event and the two of us travel there and read ‘5 players recommended’ it is rather disheartening and lowers my enjoyment of the game.
It is however fully possible to duo it as well as solo it. So give it a try.
It might take some time and quite a few tries, but it is very possible.
I did try the dungeon—and I am badly missing MOX, Ogden, Gwen, Vexx, and my necro, as the NPCs given to you get flattened in the first room, in positions that get you killed rather than being able to res them. Heck, Togo too.
So, did you get the boss?
Good luck having any use whatsoever of NPCs at that fight.
Actually, yes. A ‘Living’ story implies growth in the overall amount of content. What’s truly needed is a combination of the temporary events, and actual, permanant content related to it.
At the very least, it would be nice to have Rox and Braham continue to exist as wandering NPCs in their home cities. Talking to them would provide the options to a) Get a synopsis of the whole Flame and Frost event, so players new to the game can learn about it long after the event), b) Get sent to a version of the Cragstead or Hatchery instances (with the content edited to show that this is a similar visit, not the initial one from the actual event—the idea is that this is yet another similar attack by leftovers from the event), and c) Get sent to a Molten Factory dungeon instance (again edited somewhat to explain that this is another Factory that had been found).
Given that all the code and assets already exist (the functions I’m thinking of were in the SAB, after all), this would be a great way to keep the content in the game.
So you are basically talking about stuff that might actually be coming? Why not wait until the event is actually over before assuming they won’t add stuff like that?
You cannot go into WvW or sPvP when you are guesting, sorry.
I am actually very sure that you can go to sPvP while guesting. Unless they stealth changed that very recently?
Actually they have said that they want people to farm for the BEST things (stat-wise that is) they have however been quite clear that you will need to work to get cosmetic stuff.
You have to keep in mind though that some people might use their different characters for different things, and therefore want different abilities unlocked, which would not be the case if account-bound.
Yes, that was what they said at first, but quite shortly after that statement they corrected it and changed it to features, not content.
Don’t be a smartkitten, flissy. they said at one point that the living story would have an expansions worth of content. so no, it’s not strange at all.
No, they said that the updates would have an expansions worth of FEATURES, which I would say that it does.
And why would these people that want to see the joiners gear accept that?
They will simply say: Enable inspecting or leave.
Well, we KNOW that we will get more stuff on the 12th at least.
Nope, the Dragon Festival takes place around June/July.
The main characters in the main story dungeons are only already introduced to your character if you’ve played the content that introduces them.
Just like the main characters in the Flame and Frost dungeon are only already introduced to your character if you’ve played the content that introduces them.
The only difference is, the main story content is always available, the F&F lead-in to the dungeon won’t be.
Ok, so you’ve made a case for the F&F lead-ins to remain available as well, not for the removal of the F&F dungeon. Perhaps the cinematic introductions to Rox & Braham could be incorporated in the dungeon loading process, just like the info-dump we get at the start of all the other dungeons.
Nothing has to do with anything making sense. It’s all just a matter of game designers deciding how they want things to be.
Actually I have yet to find a single race that does NOT introduce the Destiny’s Edge character for your race in the introduction (which can’t be skipped), so everyone HAVE seen their race’s representative before.
Wtf more useless town clothes that can’t be worn in combat, hello please wake up ANet I won’t buy any useless town clothing.
Dragon Festival meh won’t be the same I’m sure since Cantha isn’t allowed, gem store gets a bunch of temporary content as usual. Limited time only! Is that supposed to make me grab one before they run out, because it actually makes me not want to buy them out of spite.
And yet there is a rather clear part of the post that states that there is also armor-skins that CAN be used in combat.
Funny how people only read what they want, aye?
I don’t know if it’s just you, but it’s certainly not me. Dungeons being “locked in time” makes zero sense. Why can some dungeons be “locked in time” while others can’t?
Because they are not directly connected to outside influence? And the main characters are already introduced?
If you had done/read nothing of Flame & Frost, do you think that the Molten Dungeon would have made any sense whatsoever?
You would have an alliance of foes that you had no idea existed, and you are helping two people that clearly knows you but you have never seen them before in your life.
That’s a bit different, as each campaign was (originally) a self-contained story (though I will say that Factions’ writing was bad enough that it still managed to feel like boring filler somehow).
This would be more akin to hopping a boat to Cantha and just forgetting about the Mursaat entirely while we go to kill Shiro. Completely moving on would be fine if we’d already killed all the dragons and cleared that whole mess up, but we haven’t. They’re still out there, and (supposedly) are a world-level threat.
And yet there were parts of said campaigns that did seem like “useless fillers” until you actually played through all of it, since quite a few of them made no sense whatsoever until you knew everything.
How do you explain going into an early story dungeon and helping to get Destiny’s Edge back together in order to go and kill Zhaitan, months after they already fought beside you while you killed Zhaitan?
I’ll take your explanation and apply it the the F&F dungeon.
Who cares about a tiny speck of the game not making sense when a vast chunk of the game doesn’t make sense to begin with? That’s like worrying about a broken fingernail after you lost both hands.
The story mode dungeons are locked in time so to speak. They all take place at a specific time, therefore you can replay that story.
That is not the same thing though.
At least one of the Destiny’s Edge member are already known to you, while Braham and Rox is completely unknown to someone that have not done Flame and Frost.
I would say most things in the game makes quite a bit of sense, but that might be just me.
Well it makes sense… they have no plans for an expansion and all the content we have heard of is made by small teams of 3-5 devs. I highly doubt they have 300 people working on GW2 based on the amount of content we’ve been getting.
If they were working on an expansion that would explain why they have so many people but put out so little content, but based on what they themselves have told us that isn’t true, so it seems logical to me.
Oh, so that just because WE don’t see new stuff that means they are not doing new stuff?
There are most likely LOADS of stuff that have been changed/added since release without them telling us about every single thing.
It will also bred elitism and pointless stuff like that.
Just because someone have good gear does not mean they are good players for that matter.
It is after all fully possible to buy a full set of exotic gear without ever leaving the starter area if one wanted to.
Hahahahahahahahah.
Seriously?
Would someone even believe rumors like this?
We have no real numbers but we know that there are several teams of devs working on different parts of the game.
Even if there is a link, it’s not overtly-displayed throughout the content, so it’d just feel like something arbitrarily thrown on to justify the existence of F&F. It currently just feels like a random, isolated chunk of content with poor build-up and an underwhelming execution. Had it been like, 1/1Ø of a content-patch that (overall) flowed well together, this would be alright, but as it stands it just feels like boring filler.
So something must be “in your face” clear in order for it to be any good?
I for one prefer the fact that we still don’t really know why they are working together, nor who they are working for/with.
The Arah Dungeon is in the Cursed Shore map.
It forces people to think and plan before taking a tower, which is most likely the whole point.
You can’t just rush in with overwhelming numbers and take it without trouble now.
It is however quite easy to destroy most arrow-carts before everything rushes in to their deaths.
I would have agreed if said item actually was useful.
In this case however the items is completely useless and only cosmetic and therefore should really be a rare sight.
Keep in mind that it is tradeable so you can buy it from the TP.
So, being able to do something that you couldn’t do before is not an advantage? Isn’t that really the definition of an advantage?
You even state it this time around as well: “f anything, it would level the playing field for people who have trouble performing a dodge-jump with the standard method.”
So clearly it will make it easier/possible for people that get this reward, while people that have trouble with it, and can’t do this event, will still not be able to do it.
So, you are saying it does not have any link to the overall story, and yet in the same sentence you point out that we don’t know the cause for the alliance.
Why assume those two are not connected?
How do we know that the alliance don’t have anything to do with the dragons?
There is an unlimited axe and sickle in the store? I cant find them…
They are not ingame yet, they are however in the dat-file so they are coming sooner or later.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1djssi/upcoming_gemstore_items/
“Unbreakable! Permanent Harvest Sickle! Invented to survive the Southsun seas, this tool has unlimited charges and the same efficiency as an Orichalcum Harvest Sickle. Available for a limited time only.”
There are also some lines most likely from the coming story further down.
It is very likely that the next part of the Living Story takes place on Southsun..
Especially based on the new gem-store items datamined from the dat-file.
They can’t be any worse than some people i’ve seen. At least heros don’t ragequit, and they don’t pull mobs unless you flag them sloppily or leave them on offensive.
It is not a matter of being bad, it is a matter of some stuff that is most likely not possible for an AI without way too much coding.
Do the dungeon and complete it? Or wipe again?
Well since you seems to believe that heroes would be able to help you complete it I suggest actually doing it and in that understanding why they wouldn’t.
Did you ever flag your heros and remaining henchmen strategically? They get WAY better than normal dummy AI.
Yep.
As I said: Do the dungeon before talking about it.
it would be nice if some live events ended whit meta events
Which would of course make it impossible for people with low-end computers or bad internet to complete it. And that is not even by choice, while the case with the dungeon is.
Yes, I love nothing more than failing a dungeon over and over until my evening is completely wasted away.
Christ, I just wish I could bring heros like in olde tymes and be done with it.
As I said: Try it before you complain about it.
It is fully possible to do with a pug and without even talking to each other.
And had you actually done the dungeon you would have known that heroes would simply die again and again and again and again and again in this dungeon, since it requires things that the AI can’t really handle.
The item itself actually says Able to mine all metals, so it is quite unlikely that they would be unable to mine any possible higher tier.
I do not have a problem with paying that amount for a single-use skin (I did buy 2 of the Pick-axes) but I can understand that some do. But then again it is still possible to trade gold for gems.
I read it as being a one-time use. But I agree that it might be possible to interpret it as unlimited.
Oh god yes the heralds.
See that would cut it in say Morrowind. In an MMORPG, what I want to hear is: “go to X, talk to Y, kill Z.”
And yet quite a few people prefer to figure out stuff themselves without the game server everything on a silver platter.
If you want to get exact directions there are several guides out on the internet that tells you exactly where to go and such.
Ooh, confirmation that the next step of the living story is taking place on Southsun. (or well, more or less confirmation at least).
/wiki Flame and Frost
Type that in chat and it will give you access to the wiki-page about the event.
The most important part in your case is the entry about Heralds, which will tell you what is going on.
