If you didn’t stand around and read all the books in Priory it didn’t really take that long to complete that instance. About the same time as the Labyrinth in-fact.

Silverwastes has rather little to do with the actual story content. And even counting that, the Labyrinth is rather large as well.

They clearly have gotten enough money form people continuously using the gem store in order for the game to keep being developed. But you know, they have had to pay their employees all that time as well. Even without people working on an expansion they would still need their salary after all.

But if suddenly all that income stopped, it is quite unlikely that they would have enough money to put out an expansion just like that. (Unless of course they are already more or less done with one)

Looking specifically at the playable story parts this was not really any shorter than last patch.

Not every patch have to give answers.

The teaser was most likely more to show that they have not forgotten Rytlock and that we will meet him again sooner or later.

And how do you suggest they pay their developers for developing said expansions without an income?

Of course they can add stuff between expansion. But would it be as often as it is now?

People also seems to thing that an expansion will magically make the content different/better. Which is quite likely not the case. The only real difference would be that we got all the episodes in one pack rather than one every two week. The story-telling would be the same. The content would be more or less the same and so on.

Who have said anything at all about refusing to buy an expansion? I would buy an expansion if it was released, that doesn’t however change the fact that I personally prefer the current system.

Do you need to get all three pieces from the vendor? I must have missed a bug-fix or something then because I am 100% certain that I got one of them from completing the main story achievement.

It is also fully possible to get the other two from the Greater Nightmare chest in the Labyrinth, so no, you don’t HAVE to gather 3000 (or even 2000) in order to get the piece.

But unless you do it once and then get everything, it will be seen as a grind by some people thus you would suggest that we completely remove the need to do something more than once.

There are people that find grinding for stuff fun. Why not allow them to do that? There is nothing in the game that you NEED that require grinding.

You paid attention to a single video, released years before the game, which was very shortly after clarified.

People are already complaining about lack of stuff to do, if you remove the whole reason to do stuff more than a single time there will be even less stuff to do, seeing as there would be no point whatsoever to ever repeat anything.

As for it being sold with “promise of no grind” that is simply a case of people not actually paying attention or reading what they actually said.

if sPvP players can earn gold much faster than PvE players, they can easily buy gems with gold, allowing them to buy more items in the gem store.

besides, the gem store has lots of finishers for sale.

Yes, there are many gold sinks in the game, but very few of them are required by the sPvP side of the game, and as such adding a huge amount of gold from sPvP would kitten up the economy quite a bit unless they added more gold sinks there.

While the gemstore might be a bit of a gold sink it is also fully possible to completely bypass that goldsink by simply buying gems directly with money.

They changed the repair cost quite long ago and since then there have been no price for repair anyway.

Dyes have always been said to drop from quest rewards. Which was also announced back when they made dyes account-bound.

Feels like complaining for the sake of complaining to me.

IF they increase the rewards in sPvP they also need to add more gold-sinks. Do people really want that? Have you already forgotten the rage about some amulets being put being a gold-cost when they added the ability to get gold from PvP?

The chest also drops the gloves box.

And indeed there is a repair anvil at the start (and repairs are free). It is also fully possible to not die in there by playing smartly and/or (dare I even say it?) work together with others.

I think a big issue here is that the very press-release TenTonHammer quoted outright stated:

Other big changes coming with the update include new PvP modes that encourage practice skirmishes, such as an unranked “Practice” mode where players can hot-join to quickly sharpen their skills.

The vast majority of the items people have wanted back in the gem-store have been put back in the gem-store.

But I suppose that doesn’t count?

I really don’t see anything at all that even implies that there won’t be a living story episode coming on December 2nd.

You could look at a player, and by looking at him you could tell where he had been, what he had accomplished by the armor he was wearing.

To be fair that is what every game ever always need.
Money.

The amount of actual playable content is about the same in both updates.
Sure they added SW in the last one. But the labyrinth is rather large as well.
As for the actual story parts they are more or less the same size.

GW1 = buy2play = expansions & updates

and both superior to the GW2 updates in my humble opinion. If anything, GW2 bussiness model screams for bigger cash injections, so expansions would be logical. And yet for some reason they basically stopped with it about 2 years after release and didn’t return to the same format with Guild Wars 2. So it seem rather likely that said model didn’t actually work.

Keep in mind that if all of them had been obtainable in the exact same way, people would have whined about how they were lazy and didn’t do anything new.

I also seems to recall people after last patch complaining about being “forced” to repeat the living story in order to get the pieces.

There are multiple ways to get the gloves, just like there were multiple ways to get the shoulders.

1. One of them in the story.
2. Tradable for crests.
3. Lootable from the chest in the Labyrinth.

It is called a cliffhanger I believe. It is quite often used in episodic media.

Well people complained during Season 1, and therefore they changed how they did it for season 2.
Going back to the season 1 format which people clearly didn’t like isn’t really such a good idea.

I’m fine with an occasional set of skins on the gemstore, but I find it quite ridiculous how many sets they’re churning out while they add in-game skins at a much slower rate. During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (the bug ones) in-game.
During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (pact ones) in-store.

At the end of season 2 we will have gotten 6 full armor sets in-game.

Actually overall I think they have added MORE skins in-game than via the gem-store.

People have to understand that they need to get money from somewhere, and I am sure almost everyone would agree that it is better that they do it with skins rather than with power or advantages.

Talking from a strictly actual playing point of view the content is about the same.

WvW stuff will mainly be added in feature packs, seeing as they as most stuffs that would be added (with the exceptions of new maps) would be features rather than content.

The only thing that made last patch’s episode (we are talking strictly about the STORY component after all) was that it took loads of time to read all the books in the Priory instance. If you only rushed straight through it and only did what you had to, it was just as short as this episode.

This is the issue when they release large content patches (in fact I think that this one is about equal to the last one in terms of actual game-play). People will rage every time the patch is not as big or bigger.

And based on people breaking out of the maps the underground areas are actually rather big.

They have not changed anything as far as I am aware, but then again I think most people didn’t wait for the very last second to unlock something.

We have seen the same thing with other releases that involves dailies and such, with them not giving dailies the last day.

Keep in mind that usually GMs do not shout out that they are GMs (or use their tag for that matter).

The game was not named after GvG.

As for adding GvG into the game it is already fully possible to do it yourself while you wait for a (potential) official version of it.

1. Get Custom Arena.
2. Set only Legacy of the Foefire in rotation.
3. Set point limit to max.
4. Set time limit to max.
5. The game ends when one team kills the other teams Guild Lord.
6. Profit.

There already is one.
You get locked out of doing sPvP for quite some time after leaving X amount of matches.

I have yet to see any online game (where I have seen other people) where I have not seen hacking/cheating at least once.

Quite beside the point though. The fact remains that there is no system in the world that is immune to hacking and cheating and just banning people without fixing the hack is quite pointless.

Well to be fair the PC is supposed to be an able-bodied individual. Not an oldie that might die of old age before getting to the front.

Old people usually don’t manage to do all that much in the heat of battle, especially not in battles against completely new and unknown foes.

And even if it actually did happen, that is how RNG is. It is not based on account, it is based on a more or less random algorithm. Some times people get lucky, some times they don’t.

Just like in the real world.

We also have interaction with children around the world with heart quests and such.

Aftermath of Battle for Lion’s Arch also involved children and such.

At least one part of the Personal Story have a bunch of children playing (or rather fighting) about Destiny’s Edge.
