The latest thread about cheating with 100% proof of the cheaters cheating has been deleted and Anet won’t be taking any action. The people who posted the videos to report the cheaters probably got their posts infracted or might have even been temporarily banned.
There is no way to report cheaters in this game. Emailing Anet at the “exploits” email doesn’t actually do anything.
The cheaters win again.
Such a thread would be deleted simply because it is a rather clear breach of the rules of both the game and the forums.
There is a way to report cheaters and hackers, and if people would actually do that instead of raging about it on the forums it would most likely have quite a bit more effect. Keep in mind however that they still need to investigate and make sure what is happening before just blatantly banning an account.
There will never be a game that is immune to hacking/cheating. No matter how much time and resources you spend on it there will always be people that manage to bypass it somehow.
And lets be honest here: Would there really be much point banning people without figuring out how to deal with the actual hack first? If they ban a bunch of people but the hack is still available new people will just fill the spots of those that were banned.
Grind is only worthy of criticism when it provides advantage.
Ascended Armor, for example, provides a statistical advantage on par with receiving a free 5% damage trait, a free 5% armor trait, and a free 5% boost to all of your attributes, as well as infusion slots that can also provide some stat boosts. It’s not enormous, but it is best-in-stat, and there is an undeniable large grind to receive some form of statistical advantage.
Obsidian armor, like all guild wars 1 armor sets, was purely aesthetic. There was no mandatory grind to it. It simply had a look (which any given player may or may not care for) and a connotation of prestige, no different from that of Legendary Weapons in Guild Wars 2.
When it comes to certain titles, you would have a somewhat more valid point. Performance boosting titles (like Lightbringer), did leave a somewhat bitter taste in mouth when they were introduced, as they represented small steps away from what Guild Wars was supposed to represent.
And there are no rose-tinted glasses here. I speak as someone who has put roughly 3k hours into each game. Guild Wars 1 was the better game with better skill and content design. Guild Wars 2’s improvements have largely been in the aesthetic and combat (dodging and mobile skills) departments, but even the value of the improved combat has been diminished by the game’s usage of one of the genre’s weakest skill systems.
Ah, you mean like titles that actually made you stronger or skills tied to certain titles that grew in strength the more you grinded the title? Those existed in Guild Wars 1 as early as Factions.
Or why not talk about the runes that usually required extreme luck or massive mount of gold which also made you much stronger?
I would not say that Guild Wars 1 was subjectively better than GW2. Sure it had more skills, but how many of those skills were actually used? How many of those skills were completely useless?
Ah the good old rose-tinted glasses seems to sell well these days.
People tend to complain about how much you need to grind in Guild Wars 2, and yet they complete disregard the massive amounts of grind needed for quite some stuff in Guild Wars 1.
Such as almost everything on this list.
Obsidian Armor is probably one of the most grindy things to get in any western game. DoA (Domain of Anguish) also required not only completion of the story mode, but also spending time grinding titles in order to get more or less required skills and a required title which protected against the enemies there.
As for the whole “huge chunk of added content every 6 months” that only ever happened ONCE during the time of the game. Between Faction and Nightfall. Between Prophecies and Factions it was almost exactly a year.
Between Nightfall and Eye of the North was little less than a year.
Glint wasn’t really crystal though. Sure, she had some crystally parts, but most of her were flesh.
IF the eggs in Guild Wars 1 were from before she was corrupted they would have been waiting to hatch for more than 10 000 years, if they could wait that long without hatching it isn’t really that unlikely that they could wait another 250 years.
Unless every single egg she ever lay (or however she produced them) were laid at the exact same time, there is no reason to assume they would all hatch at the same time.
I don’t know if the answer will be a spoiler for you or not
Glint was brought to Tyria by the Gods to protect it. Not sure if she was already Kralkatorrik's champion or not, but she was freed by her servant, the Forgotten, long time ago. That's why she could betray Kralkatorik as her former master, because her mind was free.
There is no information at all about Glints origin as far as I know, and there is definitely not something about her being brought to Tyria by the Gods.
“Dragon minions shouldn’t be able to reproduce”
Not isn’t.
Glint had children (or at least one child) in Guild Wars 1.
Glint also seems to be rather unique overall when it comes to Dragon Champions. It is of course also fully possible that she regained her ability to reproduce after she was freed from Kralkatorriks control, which would suggest that they CAN reproduce but aren’t ALLOWED to do it.
Which doesn’t change the fact that the overall quality of story/writing has deteriorated significantly.
That is of course a matter of opinion rather than straight out facts. I have seen rather many people dislike the whole fragmented and weird Prophecies storyline for example.
Also the whole “Abaddon is behind every single thing that have ever happened in all of the Guild Wars campaigns” was rather silly.
People always seems to remember the “good old Guild Wars 1 days” completely different than people actually talked about them back during those times.
1-3 silver is ONE trip, you also have to pay for the return journey, which would make the cost 2-6 silver.
And yes, it is indeed a bunch.
What better way to rally the troops, inspire people, help rebuild our town (during the bash, have people donate their empyreal fragments, and dragonite ore!) than to have a giant DRAGON BASH?!
Yeah, I am sure they would love to have a festival when all of a sudden a bunch of vines can just pop up and kill everyone with no way of defending against it
That specific chest reward seems to be a bit random ^^
Sometimes you get it without killing the wurm, sometimes you don’t get it despite killing the wurm and so on. Have always been the case.
Another thing to keep in mind is that even if would work as intended, you would most likely only have gotten the first one, due to the daily limit of said reward.
Can we really base such thing in a fantasy world on real world knowledge?
Your all forgetting the original “blindfold” in Guild Wars 1 was in exchange for a stack of diessa chalice’s from a Char NPC at Cathedral of Flames, that was part of the Eye of the north expansion.
Actually no. Blindfolds were added with Ritualists which were released with Factions.
Sure the actual item Blindfold was added with Eye of the North, but they were in-game as actual things quite long before that.
It doesn’t limit it daily. It slowly decreases over time when you leave the area.
It makes you get way less drops (to the point of no drops at all) if you farm the same area for an extended amount of time.
Isn’t that basically exactly what is suggested in the OP?
Doesn’t this basically already exist with the DR system?
I feel for all you that had to rename your character. This should not have happened…
Indeed.
They should have read the naming policy and thus wouldn’t have had this issue.
Negative. The disaster was adding the fees. But nice try, oh mighty white knight.
How was it a disaster?
Did you play WvW before the fees were added?
Regardless it was still a disaster.
Indeed it was, which is also the reason why they never should go back to free transfers again ^^
Macros that gives advantages over others and that does more than one action per clicks are not okay.
Yes, most (if not all) MMOs do not allow names that are the same (or very similar) as in-universe characters.
As for Guild Wars 2 this is outright stated in the naming policy:
We do not permit names that:
Have offensive racial, ethnic, national, or cultural connotations
Include hate speech or bigoted slurs
Reference sexual acts or real life violence
Are pornographic
Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions
Reference illegal drugs or activities
Reference religious or historical figures
Reference real-life people
Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products
Use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules

what are you talking about ? transfer fee is here from the closed beta i played…
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-25-guild-wars-2s-world-server-transfer-system-explained
No.
They didn’t actually add in the fee for it until they launched Guesting, and that was quite some time after release.
It was planned for release, but since Guesting wasn’t available and they have spent quite some time on explaining how good it would be to be able to join people on other servers for free with guesting, they decided to remove the requirement to pay for transfer until such a time Guesting was actually added to the game.
Nope.
They found out that the filter (that was supposed to stop people from creating characters named the same (or very similar to) in-game characters didn’t block all the names it was suppose to and as such they fixed that and made a rush in which they changed all names that would not be allowed due to the filter (it is also rather clearly against the Naming Policy to use such name).
It is fully possible to survive a couple of seconds in the trail, especially with a balanced build and defensive skills.
And it is 9 times out of 10 fully possible to actually move/dodge out of said trail, which would remove said issue completely.
The new maps are end-game maps, they are supposed to require team-work, knowledge of the game and skill.
Never understood the purpose of this. There’s a way point literally 2 ft away from the instance entrance. Why waste gems on this when you could just way point right there.
Because it can take you back to your original spot with just one click and one loading screen without paying a bunch of silver every time?
I understand the need to introduce new players into the game. But most vets don’t like the new player experience , So how about just applying it to your first character ? Your second , third and so forth will have the normal leveling system , skill unlocks and so forth?
Actually I am rather sure that most veterans doesn’t even care about it. Those that have actually tried it have (from my experience) mainly liked the new system.
I think you need to stop using focusing on power and add some vitality and toughness.
If you have a somewhat balanced build they do not one-shot you.
And since you don’t seem to use dodging and defensive skills I would say that a build based around damage rather on survival would not be ultimate for you against the Mordrem.
ask youself why after megaserver trasfer fee for www is still in place.
Because back in the days before the transfer fee was added WvW was in an even worse state than it is now?
Victory can be defined as many things. Ever heard the phrase “We lost the battle, but not the war” before? Killing an elder dragon is not the only way to define a victory against them.
But as I said: We didn’t really have any real victories until soon before we destroyed Zhaitan.
And we do know for a fact that Dragon Bash DOES take place after the Death of Zhaitan in the timeline.
What about the tons of names of Guildwars 1 and 2 npcs (characters) that are derived from rl earthly names (now, history and mythology) . For examples Kate, Magnus, Logan, Eve (gw 1), Balthazar, Abbadon etc. These are not gw unique names. This could mean we cannot use many names at all in the end. Look at the Norn, Sylvary and human names, all rl history, mythology, modern derived names.
There is a rather huge different between calling a character a single name (such as Magnus) and calling it something such as Magnus Bloodhand.
As for Abbadon that would probably not be allowed anyway due to its ties to religion, which is also against the naming policy.
I would say that this part of the mail human characters got is rather clear that it does take the defeat of Zhaitan into consideration:
After working so hard to defend Tyria, we could use some fun. Just in time, the Ship’s Council of Lion’s Arch is hosting a “Dragon Bash” festival to celebrate our victories– past, present, and future–against the Elder Dragons.
I wouldn’t really say we had any real victories against the Elder Dragons before the death of Zhaitan.
Thanks for trolling and derailing the thread.
@OP: nice ideas!
Trolling?
The OP asked which mounts were in-game. I supplied said mounts with links to their wiki page for more information. How is that not relevant to the thread?
Also rather interesting that out of three comments talking about said mounts, you choose to specifically comment on only one.
If it were on the “lower end of OK” why didn’t they lose a single one during the recent lay-offs?
Seeing as lower end of OK would suggest it is not doing well enough and as such it would make sense to lay-off a bunch of people, which very clearly didn’t happen (despite happening to all the other western companies of NCSoft.)
I find it rather useful.
I can get a swift and easy Daily Gatherer by using the stone and then at once get back to the exact same place where I used it. Quite useful I would say.
I will keep my initial idea…that the thing they showed in the trailer, that is just 2 times at best bigger then a human is NOT a dragon champion. Maybe a legendary or champion trash. It depends on each person’s view what he considers to be a champion or not.
How can it depends on each person’s view when there is an actual true definition of what a Dragon Champion is?
If it get announced as Mordremoth’s Champion it will be a Dragon Champion. If it does not, it might not be a Dragon Champion. Simple as that.
That was what I was thinking, initially. Then we had Halloween, so I want to know why Dragon Bash was avoided this year.
I would assume because the first one was quite tied into the defeat of Zhaitan and as such it wouldn’t really make much sense to celebrate the defeat of an Elder Dragon in the middle of the Rise of another one.
It is very unusual for an unorganized map to take and hold all 4 camps for the whole duration of the meta and then finish with killing all the bosses.
Which would suggest that it is indeed rather hard and does require organization.
It is rather unusual for MMOs to allow player characters named the same as in-universe characters.
But that is not how the term Dragon Champion is used in the game lore.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_champion
Not all of them are/were massive or even large.
No, you claimed that a dragon champion is the size of Tequatl and Claw of Jormag, which is quite clearly not the case, which I proved by naming multiple dragon champions that are quite small.
Dragons can have multiple champions. Zhaitan have a kitten-ton of them over Arah for example.
The dragon seen in the trailer has been datamined and the title of the entity is MordremBoss or something like that. Which, combined with the video would very much suggest a champion.
Maybe if they fail even more then we gonna have expansion :P i honestly was expecting the game to do good so we receive expansions but maybe if is the opposite then we gonna receive one :P
That wouldn’t really make any sense business wise.
If something is doing badly why would you push a kittenload of money into it in order to get an expansion out?
Usually expansions comes out because a game is doing well, not because it doesn’t.
Have there every been one of these reports that didn’t state that there would be an expansion coming soon?
And yeah.. clearly that have not been the case, so I wouldn’t put too much into it this time either.
No human being is an “it”. Rude.
Actually there are people that doesn’t see themselves as male or female, and for lack of better word “it” would be used for them.
I dont remember having the source code in front of ME to make the necessary changes. This is on Anet.
He/she/it is talking about spreading out, which is basically what people suggest ArenaNet forces people to do. Which does not require anything except stuff fully available for everyone in-game.
Maybe.
I wouldn’t expect it until we defeat Mordremoth though ^^
A dragon champion is the size of tequatl of claw of jormag or krakaltoric minidude. That’s like a barely hatched starving to death dehidrated on the verge of death dragon compared to the dragon champions out there.
99% sure the flower power champion is the dude we fought in the silvari capital.
The Nornbear wasn’t much bigger than a regular Norn.
The Dragonspawn was rather small as well.
Captain Whiting was human sized and Morgus Lethe was Norn-sized. The Eyes of Zhaitan weren’t really that big either.
Size != Power.
Why release a dye-able one when you can get money for selling each separate color instead?
Another drawback I can see right now is that it would basically mean that people that find a fast/easy/abusive way of farming said currency would more or less be able to get access to all new stuff as soon as they are released.
If they added something like this they could just as well remove them completely and just have everything available for gold.
I believe that was how it was originally supposed to be, but was changed due to feedback during beta.
I didn’t see any dragons in the latest trailer. That was a teragriff, which is still scary, but not as powerful.
Teragriffs doesn’t really look like that.
