They should either do 1 of two things:
1. make an ‘auto-destroy’ option so that u dont get ascended mats that takes up bag space when u have no use for it
2. ascended mats should be a special catagory inside ‘collectibles’. specifically, have like a couple stacks max (i.e. 1000) that u can store in the bank, not just one stack.

Which class loves the sword most?

I don’t recomend warriors for swords if you are going to be primarily pve/dungeons, the meta there is axe/mace + GS. Sword is more of an option in pvp game modes.

In some dungeon paths there is viability to sword offhand. TA is the best example I’d say.

Another tip for the champ ice wolf which I don’t think was mentioned is that his ‘tell’ before he drops that ice puddle that insta-drops most groups stacked on him is that he (usually) bites anyone near for like ~20% dmg. so if ur group is stacking and u see a sudden drop in all their HP, thats ur cue to step back to avoid his next fatal attk. Also, whenever someone in ur group pulls him or if u dont see him drop that ice thing before he leashes to that group then u should dodgeroll back immediately to avoid a down and possible death.

  • Your possible choices: mesmer/warrior/guardian
  • Which would most use it in an optimal build: mesmer/guardian
  • Which is it most ‘fun’ and unique to use sword: probably warrior. because u can equip sword both mainhand and offhand, both with completely different mechanics. Sword mainhand i use mainly for running, leap is good mobility. offhand is great for blocks and to ‘rip’ ur foe.

I can’t speak about ranger sword since I have no experience with the class. They might be counted also but I don’t know their mechanics.

how zerker fashion makes people crazy

The morale of the story:
we need a viable option for players with a ranged dps playstyle (buff rangers)
we need some useful defensive/support builds

There is no moral. You were trolled. As a result you started to look down on zerkers, just coz u found someone who was a terrible example of one. This guy was probably having a good laugh behind ur back. How can i tell? his comment: that he has more survivability with zerk groups. This means hes likely a bottom feeder, he likes to hide behind others who clear mobs for him while he sits in some corner and spams F1 with his rifle. In other words, another useless noob in zerk gear who has no idea what hes doing.

I’ve had to carry tons of noobs like him, who expect others to do all the work for them. People who post for experienced runs but r themselves downed all the time. A lv69 guard who posts for an ‘exp speedrun’.. there’s tons of idiots out there.

1. dungeons r a good way to make gold, if ur interested. With speed runs, i can easily make 20g/day. A lot more noobs like to jump on trains and run around zergs mindlessly so ask urself which is the better fit for u. Oh another plus point for dungeons? u can get exotic armor virtually free from dungeon vendors, just by turning in tokens. just see which dungeon to do for the stats on the gear u want (i.e. zerker, knight, pvt, etc..) Each dungeon vendors offer different stat combinations.

2. Fractals are a pain in the kitten imo but they r really only good for two things, free 20-slot bags and ascended crap. mainly rings, and the shiny backpieces that u might see running around LA.

3. The mystic forge is really simple to use, tho most people r overwhelmed by it since they dont know what stuff to put into it. Its so easy that, I tossed in like 4 random GS into the forge weekly and after only a month or so I got an unexpected Dusk drop. So ya, u can fool around with it but dont cry if u lose all ur gold. its a gamble most times unless u have a recipe for somthin that u would like to craft (wiki’s ur friend) then a 100% success.

The 1st time it happened I didn’t realize what they were doing so I was like ‘stop plz..’ coz it was kinda annoying, then someone else explained they were doing it to kill that turret. It literally took them like 5min to clear it.. a good example of how low staff dps really is.

nagr.1593

It’s not that you aren’t heavy. It’s that you are a ranger. The class played by generally bad players overall. Doesn’t matter if you are the best ranger in the world. Faster to just dump you and not take the chance. You can be a mesmer if you want. Or an elementalist. You don’t have to be a Warrior/Guardian.

I’ve seen generally bad players as warriors too, and it makes me weep for my class. running 5 signets throughout the entire run? My aren’t you a tough one. Who needs any other skills? I’ll run through the spider mobs with my fully decked-out sigs, then whine when I don’t make it. Bad players are spread out through all classes imo but I think ur point is that bad rangers are more liable to cause their party grief, by either getting them wiped or sitting and AA ranging everything when the rest of the group is stacking.

Speaking of which, allow me to share the story of how my ele got kicked from an AC P3 speed run. Full mes/war group (of course).. I weep for brain-dead warriors too. It seems the average pug is getting dumber day by day.

Warrior stats are.. high?

nagr.1593

How’d he get crit dmg so high?

Banner gives 15% food gives 10% Divinity Runes or Ruby orbs give 12% Traits give 30% Rest Mixed Zerker and Cavaliers. Pretty easyl done for any profession to do minus the banner. In a builder I can make and ele have 122%.

This guys build is high crit damage, no utility, no sustain, low hp and doesn’t have that much crit chance without a banner and fury. Also his attack is extremely low even by other professions standards.

Traits could actually give 40% max, assuming he had the full 30 in disc and I’m assuming he also had Axe Mastery which also gives an addtional 10% (which explains why he had his axe out, very sneaky) Rest is spot on though. This guy isn’t even a good zerker, my attack and all other offensive stats r higher than his without even trying. Though to be fair he was probly specced just to show off his stats xD

Does Warrior need a nerf?

in Warrior

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

berserker stance works only against conditions

So what ? Conditions do not make damage ?

defiant stance it’s not used by any warrior in is right mind (should it became popular i bet people like you will come here and ask for a nerf).

It is not used thus it is not a damage mitigation tool ? Is that your logic ?

As for the other two, are you seriously comparing shield stance versus thhe high protection uptime a guardian can have?

+

warrior needs high HP because HP and armor are the only thing this class has to mitigate damage: do you see warrior with protectioni, blinds, aegis, stealth, clones?

Just lol guy…it seems you try to compare worst to best.
Why not comparing protection with endure pain and shield stance with blind?

Face the fact that warrior has high HP because they lack the damage mitigation other classes have.

People like u make me sick.. the desperation in ur post is also very thick btw. Heimdallr was right, maybe u need a list of things other classes take for granted that us wars dont have: protection, regen, blinds, invulns (a proper one, blocks don’t count and neither does Endure Pain since we are still vulnerable to condis and CC), aegis, reflects, chill, pulls.. I could go on and on but u get the idea.

Comparing protection with Endure Pain..doesnt make any sense because a guard spamming protection can make it last more than 5x as long. more valid comparison to: virtue of courage/renewed focus. Shield stance to shield of wrath or any of the other various block skills guards have. u can also add their blinds too if u want, bit of an unfair advantage.

Like was mentioned Berserker Stance is kinda a waste of a skill slot. I’ve personally never felt the need to run it. don’t know why u would count it. For Defiant Stance u could count save yourselves! or virtue of resolve. And Endure Pain is one of hte only dmg mitigation skills we have, apart from Dolyak Signet (not even protection, not invuln). Are u seriously asking to nerf that as well?

Lol those 2 vistas tht u listed are one of the few ones i had problems with. i actually youtubed those to learn how to do but for most of the vistas I didn’t. I will give u a hint on the LA one though its similar to the diesa plateau (?) one where u had to launch urself on some catapult to get on top of that tower vista. for the caledon waterfall one, I think I also had problems with that. Like most of the vistas I have difficulty with I’d try to go around to look for way up but to get it its actually very simple. look at youtube one for that but they should make it look easier, it can be deceptive but all u have to do is jump straight to it, u shouldn’t have to go around at all. the only other 1 i think i had a hard time with that one in mount maelstrom or something (?) where u had to jump through all those branches thru trees to the top. if u have world completion you’ll know what i mean its probly in one of those Orr areas, it was inside a cave and kinda hard for me to jump to the top.

So much Ranger Hate.... Just sad....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The #1 reason I hate rangers: 99% of them will not stack with the rest of group in one spot and not move. The #2 reason: their pets run around and do annoying things, like pull mobs that should not be pulled.

There you have it. For the record I am not filled with ‘ranger hate’ as the thread suggests. I understand most of them have excellent dps and can pull their weight when expected to, I have run with one or two in the cof p1 farm days. Which is why I do not accept kicks on rangers for a zerk run when a noob warrior calls for it immediately.

Why Warriors Need a Nerf

in Warrior

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

How do u mean? Its basically just a measure of how ‘experienced’ u are with the mechanics of a class. For instance, I can output more dps on my ele than on my war in most cases. I am also downed more often on my ele, this is true.. its also mainly due to a lack of not being a ‘heavy’, as I am more squishy in full zerker gear and cannot afford to make as many mistakes. This is just the difference of ‘heavy’ and ‘light’ armor as I mentioned, hence the ‘naturally’ higher toughness.. this has nothing to do with skill and u know it. Thus you should feel no need to enter it into the discussion.

2. when they do not meet reqs of LFG post. a lowbie for an all 80 group? what about a noob who gets the entire party wiped in middle of an ‘exp only!!’ run?
3. its OK to kick kittens. if u disagree with someone, or they dont listen and follow group etc. sometimes this is better and simpler than leaving to find anothr group.
4. its OK to kick AFK ppl. going afk in the middle of a run? u can count on me to wait 1-2 min but after that u will get the boot if u expect us to do all the work for u.

Why Warriors Need a Nerf

in Warrior

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

1. Warriors got the highest toughness/hp in the game while having extremely high damage

2. Warriors mobility is ridiculous even warrior is HEAVY ARMOR CLASS and they can almost fast as thieves its just bullcrap.

3.Warrior’s healing signet makes warrior extremely tanky just like a zombie its even better than Guardian’s

4. Warriors can spec full berzerk, still have 22khps and 3k armour and lose nothing. This is the problem. (THIS IS THE MOST BULLCRAP)

NOW tell me if there’s any other class having 20k+ hp 3k+ armor with extremely high power/attack maintaining high mobility/stuns etc?

None of your information is right, because its all biased. Everyone knows warriors have the highest base hp in the game, and theres a reason for that too. We sacrifice use of any protection/aegis/regen/reflects/blinds etc. etc. anything of use that a guard is capable of, and we also have very few stuns and KDs compared to how many an ele has. I have seen many more thieves outrun or escape from other classes as compared to warriors, but I guess that dosn’t make headlines. Even eles have waay greater mobility with use of FGS, while warriors have ‘convenient’ yet adequate mobility that u would like to see nerfed.. makes sense. And heal signet.. did u miss the part where I mentioned wars lacked the many things other classes take for granted? I would agree to a HS nerf once they add protection/regen capabilities to warriors. Besides it has many weaknesses as well, for instance huge bursts or poison/bleed stacks both of which prevent HS outheal.

In short your information is incorrect, or at least greatly exaggerated. DPS traited thieves/eles in general do higher dps than similarly traited warriors. Both also have higher mobility than we do. My zerk warrior has 19.8k health and 2.1k armor—the armor at least which is the exact same as on my guard. Maybe you should look up the difference between ‘heavy’ and ‘light’ armor and stop complaining. I could go to thief forums and rant about an upcoming nerf to stealth and insane burst dps based on similar information that u have provided.

Omg this is same thing that happened to me like a few weeks ago, during a TA Up run when we were running to Fyonna, and a party memeber was downed by the spider mobs. I stand in a safe spot and drop WB on them when they’re almost dead and their health jumps to like 80% but still in the downed state. I still managed to rez them though, had to do it manually—jumped in, popped my invul and started rezzing. Thankfully that did it, but I still feel WB should be fixed, or at least its tooltip shuld be edited to be truthful: ‘reviving downed allies’ that should mean whatever % their health is at, despite whether they have poison or any other crap on them atm. Warbanner is an elite with a super-long CD..if I cannot rez kittens with it properly, then I will get blamed and my parties will likely wipe purely because of skill malfunction and not as the result of my own kitten fault.

Not only is this method brain-dead and monotonous, it is also highly stupid because it leads to less gold/hr. I vote for anet to nerf the kitten outta this and bury it somewhere deep deep in the ground where no one will think to look, like they did for CoF P1 farm. makes everyone happy in the end, though noobs being noobs will still cry and find a way to make everyone around them miserable.

Which class should my GF play?

in Players Helping Players

nagr.1593

Yes just have her roll a warrior because thats something you should experience once in MMOs anyway.. As in most cases they are the jack-of-all-trades, while not necessarily for this game because most any class can fulfill any role. The warrior class in GW2 is very simple to figure out and actually fun to lvl. As others have said elementalist is on the other end of the spectrum in terms of difficulty, they are probably the most sophisticated class to figure out but also more rewarding in the end. They also have shinier visual effects especially with use of AoE blasts and conjured weps. Though warriors will be more wanted for endgame PvE content such as dungeons, unfortunately.

I don’t think that making portals to the top of vistas is a good idea unless shes the sort that likes the easy way out. I still remember my favorite vista, the breached wall one in DP.. while it took me like an hour to figure out I also had lots of fun with it. Best way is to just let her learn and have fun rather than focusing on making a ‘savior’ class just to always save her kitten . Not saying it doesn’t help though.

This guy doesn’t need long useless paragraphs spoon-fed to him but rather a few handy tips:

1. dont engage mobs of higher lvl unless you want a challenge or are pro enough to handle them.
2. google ‘repair gw2’ and ‘bank gw2’, or search on the wiki I’m obviously not going to enlighten u on something so obvious. This should have been explained to you in-game if u were paying attention..
3 rite-click your collectible (i.e. resources) to deposit them into bank. Or cog -> deposit all collectibles.

The main difference between warrior and guardian is the type of support they bring. warriors r more self-centered in the sense their skills r built to save only themselves (with the exception of warbanner), however they provide excellent dps support like might/fury and banners. guardians have many heals/blocks and are always providing boons to help groups, except they dont have much dps support except with a staff. Also warriors are definitely easier to play, playing a good guardian is more challenging but is more useful for groups.

Should I level Ele or Mesmer...?

Ele is tons of fun, its also very challenging. For PvE your ele is 1000x more useful. FGS is really op, also ice bow for AC and you will be always wanted (except for the occasional brain-dead war+mes group for P3 who will kick u as soon as u join :p) So get ele for might-stacknig fun and the awesome conjured weps

Verbal abuse

People like that exist in this game and its something you will have to deal with. Besides you’re not explaining what the situation was, if he was frustrated enough he was probably venting and had an understandable reason. If I get annoyed with the attitude or competence of a pug I will sometimes use profanity and then leave the group or kick the person who is incompetent—this happens when I post for ‘exp only’ and then some random noob joins and acts like he knows whats up. Other times I might be in this conversation with another person where we rage-whisper each other but I usually don’t resort to bad language if I can help it. Being rude is obviously not a crime in this game and unfortunately there are too many who are (myself included, sometimes). If worst comes to worst you can always block him so that he can’t ‘verbally abuse’ you anymore, or just use invis status so you wont have to deal with rage-whispers at all.

Don’t do dungeon or fractals until you are Lvl 80 >_<

Can you explain a little more?

Also, this good info for a returning player. I only played a couple of months so thanks for this. I’ll look at the sticky too.

thats false..at least, the poster is biased because they’re 80 and only do speed runs :P thats not to say i’m any different, but when I was lvling I would do AC exp at lv35. You will most likely have a hard time finding a group who will take u, but u can always start ur own post, somethin like ‘lvl80 not required.’ non-80 groups have a higher chance of failure at the spider queen though, thats only cause most of them are noobs and not properly geared.

tl;dr. but all this talk about dyes, abyss dye for instance is now 42g, when i bought it was like 20g. so the price just doubled in a few months.. why arent these things account wide anyway? I dont wanna spend 100g+ to get a same dye on two chars.

What class for a Newbie?

It depends what you’re really planning on doing. For PvE content, dungeons specifically, warriors are more desired simply because they are heavies, its harder to screw up on them. Their skill set is more compact and basic, whereas eles have a wide range of skills with attunements, I use mainly d/d and s/f, thats probly more variety than all the weapons that wars can use. Eles can also stack more might and deal more dps than warriors in most PvE content, however they are very squishy and u need to be skilled to use one correctly.

Also, eles do have greater mobility than warriors, though its not as convenient:

hands down warrior. in every group theres at least 1 warrior. most newbies tend to roll one too.. its probly the easiest class to play and understand.

I’ve recently purchased this game – Late, I know – and was wondering what class I should become. My eyes, after reading many descriptions have picked thief and would love some advice before I start my journey.

I’m Looking for:

  • Speed Dependent
  • Dual Wield
  • Charge into battle – like belligerent person I am.

I don’t care for:

  • Healing
  • Armor
  • Hunger

To be honest warrior fits all but 1 of those categories. I don’t really know what you mean by ‘hunger’ though.

pros:
-nearly perma swiftness with SoR. excellent mobility with GS
-dual wield possible for PvE
-‘charge into battle’ describes warriors perfectly

cons:
-if you dont want to heal, you can take heal signet. it will passive heal and you never have to worry abt it
-armor not rly but you can go full zerk to counteract this, you’ll still be able to take lots of hits without downing though

Speaking as someone whos played an ele, its probly one of the most difficult classes to play. this is cause they’re very squishy, u need to switch attunes alot if u wanna stay alive. not for newbies which is why i wouldn’t recommend it. however in certain scenarios they probly deal the most dps of all classes..so thats the tradeoff for your low low armor.
