OMG Frustration

(Tried to) Solo the Champ Marauder in N Wayfarer this morning…..I called out in MAP chat a few times and waited a few minutes, but nobody ever showed up, (it was before 7AM Central US time) so I thought “what the heck, I’ll give it a shot”.

How does this relate to the OP? lol.. anyway, I do agree that the loot option getting in the way is a problem because i run into similar situations all the time. What I do to solve this is to target the person youd want to revive by clicking on them, and then hitting F (simple fix). However this is rather frustrating that I’d have to do this, since my bags always full like majority of the time where loot is concerned. I personally thikn there should be an option to give priority to reviving people over picking up loot, when such a situation arises.

Also regarding the warrior banners thing..I have a warrior and I agree, it frustrates and abashes me to see other wars planting banners right where groups are stacking to fight, since people will inevitably end up picking up the banners by accident instead of reviving/looting. I am mainly talking about a dungeon scenario but I could see this happening in WvW too.

CoF P1/2, CoE P1/2/3, AC P3/1, TA U/F. That’s 10-15g/day right there, if you do them. You could also try SE 1/3, thats pretty fast. But I rarely run it since it bores me to death (I only do the ones I like). And good luck on Sunrise, took me 3 months to get mine and that was back when I could farm CoF P1, had a higher daily income then.

If you have the time, champ farming is your best alternative to running dungs. refer to this post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-do-you-guys-make-all-your-gold/first#post3033083

Check if you have Invisible status on. people can’t whisper you if thats the case. Also check if either of you added each other to blocks list by accident (instead of friends). Only other suggestion I can offer is, try inviting him instead of the other way around. And you don’t need to be on the same server to whisp/invite etc., only if you want to be in the same map region to do events, roam, etc.

Rezzing etiquette question

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

If I see someone downed next to mobs, I would still clear the mobs first. Reason is if they have half a brain, they will be targeting one of them to rally off. If they end up dying instead, its not my fault. At least you revived him after he died, and he is a kittener for not thanking you for it. If there was an uncontested WP close by, I wouldnt have even bothered. My policy on rezzing is: do it if you feel like it, otherwise don’t. For instance a lotta baddies dying quite frequently in CoE cause they dont have the timing down.. I’ll ignore them and DPS the boss down. otherwise i’d spend the entire fight rezzing kittens who keep getting downed 24/7

Kickin' Dungeons is Allowed

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

nagr.1593

And no kicking someone from his dungeon is not a solution for any problems

False. I actually know this because I just ran into this problem earlier today. We were doing TA, near the start and clearing the wurms, somehow the champ got triggered and suddenly there were all the other wurms spawned. 3 of us wiped, and we decided to reset the instance (since we hadnt made much progress anyway) by kicking the person who started it and then reinviting.

Unless we have some feature that lets us reset the instance without resorting to kicking the instance-opener (similar to what I used to remember WoW having), the bottom line is that it should still be possible to kick the leader. As to what happens when 2 people duo a dungeon and kick each other at the same time..wtf? common sense says that the one who opened the instance stays inside, while the other guy gets booted from it. And actually this doesnt even make sense now..lol. If this were to happen you either get people arguing that the party leader can then abuse the heck out of his teammates with no regard for consequences (since technically he wont rly be kicked, even if he is) or people like the OP arguing that you should not be able to kick the party leader at all. I dont rly see a solution atm.

Recently I’ve noticed a glitch when using Omnomberry Ghost when I am transformed into my mistlike form, my weapons and backpiece become glitchy and bubbly (as seen in the picture). What I mean is you cant really make of either of them, they become pixelated and in the case of my GS (Sunrise) it becomes this sort of huuuge glitchy mess made of all sorts of boxlike pixels and when I swing it..well you can see in the image below. this was btw fine until like 2 weeks ago, my backpiece and weapons all showed up fine.

My meaning was, I dont think the instance owner should have an elevated status compared to others in the group. he shouldn’t be exempt from kicks just because he started the instance. However I do agree there should be changes made so that if he does get kicked he should remain in his instance rather than getting booted from it.

nagr.1593

Actually there are a lot of reasons that are justified (I listed some of them above). Like if the party leader decides to DC or go AFK for an inordinate amount of time..say an hour or so. Should everyone in the group sit around and wait that long for them to come back? Or what if the leader has an attitude problem. Like he starts arguing with everyone else in the group, or he just refuses to do anything or help the group at all? Or maybe the leader doesnt meet any of the requirements that were specified in the LFG post, or maybe hes a sucky player, maybe he has all greens/blues, maybe hes trolling..I could go on and on, but you get the idea. In all these cases it would usually make sense to kick that person, and either rerun it with your group or leave/disband and find another one.

Skeub.6740:
the problem is not the kickers, the problem is the way how party system is managed. Why would anyone kick leader party with knowing that it’ll end the instance ? Why do you need only 2 people to kick the 3 others people in your party ? and Why blacklisted people can see your description party in LFG Tool

1. except it is. people that frequently call kicks are impatient, or just kittens. most likely the ppl in the group calling the kicks know each other or are from the same guild. that is not a fault with the party system. in fact there is also the possibility the fault lies with the person being kicked (i.e. didnt read the post, DCed, etc.) in which case its justified.

2. most ppl that kick the party leader obviously aren’t aware that that person started it..otherwise why kick. unless they’re really really kitten ed off. even then it would be like a double-edged sword. mainly they kick the person who DCs or goes AFK, and find out that the person started it too late.

3. I would imagine the reason is that 2 is a number that makes sense. If your in a group with 2 or 3 other people (maybe the other person left) and you call a kick on someone who DCed, you should only need 1 other vote. just like you only need your own vote to kick the other person in your group.

4. Maybe because the people on your blocks list have a friend in your group, or maybe because anet never got around to fixing it. Either way, I dont feel they should be barred an option to join a group simply because 1 person has a problem with them. Kinda like your kitten ed off at someone in your group because they made fun of you, but can’t kick them because no one else agrees with you.

Kicking from Dungeons

nagr.1593

I finally got around to redoing the fight I had posted earlier since I decided it was rather sloppy (plus there was some error in vid rendering at the start). While I would still recommend you use blocks/invuls and mobility skills (to escape her AoE) if you’re planning to melee Malrona, I have some added tips:

  • You dont really need condi removal, you can run around her to avoid getting sprayed by her poison. On the off-chance you do get hit, you can dodge/block to avoid her AoE.
  • In the previous vid I usually dodged twice, this was to be safe. Once you understand the fight well enough, you only need one well-timed dodge to avoid the AoE circles (only applies to the ones in melee range). Reminds me of CoE P2/3 alpha actually..
  • Don’t rely on reflects unless you trust the person who has it. Reason is most who do use it have terrible timing, and others dont use it at all. I was in a group with 3 guards (all with twice my AP) and two of them were constantly downed, while the other was ranging. I only saw one successful reflect put up that fight.

As you can see, I also managed to cut the duration of the fight by more than half.

I would also like to see this implemented also. Does anyone know, the reasoning as to why we are unable to switch between traits on the go? Because when I’m running through PvE content like say dungeons (excluding fractals) which of course aren’t that hard with groups anyway..we should be able to switch between traits, since there’s already a place to repair there..it isn’t asking much.

Mouse option?

in Players Helping Players

I believe this is the Fast with Range Indication option. My suggestion would be to use the movement keys ‘A S W D’ in combination with the right mouse button to focus the camera on your enemy, since its kind of a bad idea to rely on either one. If youre still resolute in using Instant Ground Targeting, you could possibly use the strafe keys ‘Q E’ instead of right-mouse to move around so that your camera would still be focused on your enemy.

New Player looking for HELP

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

Wow…

I guess i’ll just go back to WoW until this issue is solved. I refuse to play an MMO where I am forced to take damage simply because of clunky UI design.

Nice overreaction..anyway:

1. Try using Simple Condition Floaters option. Only other suggestion I can offer is try zooming in/out since this usually helps me see the enemies easier. I dont usually notice the dmg numbers since I constantly melee, but I agree there should be an option to maybe make them smaller or hide them altogether since it sometimes blocks players views. I also agree that with some groups there is so much condi stacking and so many graphical effects from skills that players cast that it makes it hard to see the enemies clearly and dodge them. One specific situation that bothers me is the Leurent boss fight in TA forward path. If I were to solo him I’d be able to watch his animations clearly and dodge, but with groups generally thre is so much clutter around him, pets, smoke, AoE firefields. etc. that most times I cant see him at all, and dodging his attks correctly is more about luck and guesswork than actual skill. But then again, in dungeons it is more of a group effort and you can usually expect to be downed at least once. In large-scale fights usually your more concerned about spamming skills/buttons than actually worrying that you cant clearly see the boss and dodge his animations. For instance, try the Dwayna/Lyssa world boss fights.

2. Like someone alry said, uncheck Show Enemy Names. you probably had this checked but in general all you need to worry about is seeing others players names above their heads, I do agree there should be an option to hide this, but other that it doesnt really bother me.

dodge and cast bars

endurance nerf:
are you serious abt this? the full bar only lets you get 2 dodges anyway, and the regen rate is fine. as to why most ppl spam dodges for no reason, while others use it carefully.. this may surprise you, but there are ppl that suck..and those that dont. you cant just turn the world upside down and start nerfing stuff simply because of baddies.

cast bars:
no..just no. watching an enemies animations closely to learn when to dodge/attk…this is what seperates the pros from those who have no idea what there doing. So basically what your asking for is something along the lines of: ‘boss will cripple u in 2secs, followed by a lunging attack that will down you. dodge to win.’ at whats even more awsome, it tells u the name of the player above the bar that the boss will target. despite the fact that the boss is usually just staring at that person before he makes his move. Or better yet, how about fighting alpha in CoE: ‘SA is charging an AoE attk that in 3secs will down everyone inside it.’ After the bar finishes charging, its replaced by the words ‘dodge now!’.. a cue which even the most clueless newbies wont fail to miss. i.e. theres no distinction between exprerienced and those who clearly arent..the game is broken.

Ive seen so-called ‘pros’ running inquest pots for CoE alpha fights and it makes me lol. the only time it could be viable is for the inquest golem boss fight, but hes easy as kitten and the fights not too long at all. doesnt even make sense really.. for P2/P3 the only inquest event has a fixed time limit so unless u just stand there and choose to kill yourself, you wont have a problem at all..and since the majority of CoE is really about the alpha fight, I feel its kind of a kitten on their part.

I lol’d.. thats a pretty funny response. whenever i join a ta group thats say ‘exp only’ theres always some clueless newbie that joins and asks questions like “is this story? are we doing p2? whats u/u?” it makes me laugh and want to beat them over the head with a stick, nowadays I just call insta-kicks rather than sitting them down and explaining it to them. Recently this dude joined for the same post for TA, he was like “lets goo!!” and charges in, at the 1st part he asks the group to stack and pulls the dogs to us. I ran off to escape since his stupidity was contagious, the rest of my group proceeded to wipe and after that he just left without a word.

But seriously..I dont mind carrying newbies every now and then. When were doing a dung run for all paths, we finish one path and say on the next 1 someone ’fesses up and says there new to the path. So we all provide them some tips and get through that 1 OK. But what I hate is people not admitting they are new, acting like theyve done it before when in certain paths like CoF/CoE P1 and AC (spider boss)..it actually matters whether you are, since if you dont say anything it will cost your group valuable time/result in unnecessary wipes…

lol, so funny that everyone here has the same perception of the game. I too thought this was the best game ever…..but after you reach lvl 80, it becomes extremely shallow due to lack of content and challenging content.

The game does have tremendous potential though….im still waiting for the devs to one day wake up and deliver on that potential…which is why im still playing. Plus I love the art style.

haha you couldnt be more wrong. to be fair, this was my thought when I first hit 80 (like a few months ago). I was like “YES!! Finally hit 80, SUCK IT!! Clearly I’ve beat this game, theres nothing else for me to do or learn or achieve.” Of course, I was still a total noob and had barely even scratched the surface of what the game had to offer. There are dungeons and fractals, ascended/legendaries if you want to strive towards them, WvW, jumping puzzles, map completion, world bosses and events, and STUFF..theres always awsome stuff to has, to waste your hard-earned gold on. useless stuff in the end really. but still pretty neat. And lack of challenging content? you cant be serious. Why not run an Arah path, fight Lupicus? Or try soloing dungeons, or doing fractals lvl38 or something. that should be challenging enough..

But honestly.. dungeons and living stories are mainly where its at for me. Pick one or two dungeons that you really like, out of those run the paths you want to daily, and you will never get tired of it. trust me. the gold I get doing them is just an accidental by-product nowadays, I mainly run them just for fun.

Warrior is like the jack of all trades. theyre really fun and easy to play, you should try it. They have the ability to combine the best out of all classes and as a result they are at least ‘decent’ in all areas. You want range/AoE? Bow firefields. DPS? good solid melee dps, mainly in the form of bursts but also sustainable. cripples/stuns? they have tons of those. knockbacks/cc? hammer, mace, fear, stomp. condi removal/stun breaks/invul/stability? some of the best. partywide vigor/swiftness? warhorn. aegis/blocks? mace, sword, and shield. group support/revival? FGJ, banners, warbanner. mobility/speed? dont even get me started, warrior mobility is insane.

I have a guard also but usually im on my war. As a guard I am more tankier and have a bit more survivability due to aegis/heals/reflects but my war is more fun to play. its just preference I guess. I like to spam bursts and have better personal dps.

This topic and this 1 https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Leader-Leaving-Everyone-Gets-Kicked/first#content seem to be related (suggestion in 2nd post is same for both also)

if theres 1 thing ive learned, is that sometimes it pays to be firm and rule with an iron fist, rather than be humble and polite. especially when pugs are involved. so you made it clear that you wanted to skip the champ, and majority agreed with u. someone argues/disagrees with you.. strike 1. then they do something stupid like run and pull the champ, probably resulting in a group wipe. strike 2.. kick them. dont wait around for them to kick you instead.

i believe everyone has been kicked from pugs for pointless reasons at sometime or another. like the 2nd poster said, a surefire way to prevent this and yourself from being abused/trolled is to start the dung yourself. that way if you dont like the group attitude you can just leave, or if you do get kicked for whatever reason then you can have the satisfaction that they will be also.

nagr.1593

theoretical question: would 30/25 still beat 30/0 if we’re assuming the +20% dmg bonus from desp power?

I believe they nerfed that trait but forgot to add it in patch notes. It now says +20% dmg when under 25% health (instead of 50%). so even assuming you got your health that low, if wearing scholars then extended benefit from that trait would only get like a +10% dmg increase from what scholars provides. then you would also be sacrificing the +10% dmg vs bleeding foes from the Arms trait line so that would cancel out. The other half the time your below 25% health youd have to be careful not to get downed/die since that can easily happen when your health is that low. so im pretty sure it wouldnt be more dps than the 30/25 one.

Looking for some advice

That aside, Berserker’s armor doesn’t necessary mean you are easily killed. The armor is at best half the story. Traits, runes or orbs, trinkets will have a very significant impact.
My warrior uses Berserker’s most of the time but still has 2.8k armor and 21k HP. That is not especially squishy.

warrs do have a really vast health pool, greatest of all classes in fact. and their armor is a benefit of being a heavy, which helps you mitigate more % of dmg as compared to being say an ele. Both these combined means you can take more hits than other classes (except guard) before dying.

Like Khisanth said, zerk armor doesnt have much a deciding factor on ur survivability. For one, there is more weightage in terms of stat points on your trinkets than on your armor. For another, survivability mostly relies on traits/skills/weapons and of course your experience. The greatest deciding factor of survivability IMHO is the latter — your skill. If you are starting out with little to no experience you can expect wipe a lot regardless of how much toughness and vit you have stack.ed.

All this having been said, it will take you awhile to get ascended accessories and when you do, I recommend choosing zerk stats for all of them. This will allow you to change around the stats on your armor pieces so you can find the right combination of survivability and DPS. Though, if you are new to your class and opt to jump straight into full zerk then you will be dying a lot (I know from expereince). As you learn how to play your class, you become more skilled at timing your dodges and using blocks/skills to mitigate dmg and increase your survivability.

My 1st recommendation would be that you start out with knights armor with soldiers, then you can swtich to full zerk with rubies/scholars when your comfortable. Failing that you can use rares with whatever stats you care for (PVT, knights, etc.) and slowly work your way to a full exotic zerk set. Though this would apply only for most dungeons and general PvE. In a few other cases including WvW, you might have need to use an extra set with different stats, say PVT with soldiers runes.

Charr were meant to wear steel-plated heavy armor and run around smashing hammers into things and bursting greatsword hundred-blades in faces. they are a barbaric race with awsomely brutal and savage animations thats perfect for warr. watch their hundred-blades (GS 2) animation, its their best. If you prefer more fluid movements as a warr, roll a human. its the only other race I could stand behind.

Dungeon Leader Leaving, Everyone Gets Kicked

Are you kittening serious? There’s no reason for everyone to get kicked out because one player rage quit, is a troll, or just had to leave. That leaves nobody happy. If you don’t like the other players, they should be able to carry on without you without starting over.

Skarka’s law in action, here. There is no position that won’t have at least one person on the internet ready to defend it.

Skarka’s law.. ? Am I a terrible person just because I open the dung and choose to leave when i dont like the group attitude? I’ve ran through dungs till near the end boss and then been kicked for simple reasons, say if I tell my group I’ll brb for a sec. What do you say about obnoxious groups like these, that call kicks just because they feel like it?

This is why I usually make sure to open the dung. so that I’ll know if my group decides to kick me for whatever reason they’ll be thrown out as well (has happened to me on more than one occasion, and I’ve been thankful for it). Hopefully this will make people like these think twice about calling kicks needlessly. More often what happens if that people start yelling and cursing at each other or at me. Sometimes when this happens I don’t feel like continuing the run. I run dungeons for fun and to have a good time, if people can’t let me do that then, why the kitten should I stay?

Besides, its not like I open the dung and then leave when the end boss is at 2%.. just on a whim.

you -could- buy them off the tp but imo thats a waste of money since you can trade in dung tokens for armor pieces and get them for basically free. however buying them off is the best option if you want your armor set fast. If your willing to wait a while, you could run CoF for dung tokens and turn them in for the zerk set. CoF p1 is still the fastest dung in the game, with a decent group its about a 8min run.

According to the wiki, for full zerker heavy armor set you need 1380 tokens. Running p1 and p2 daily will take you around 40min and net you 120 tokens. So in a little less than 2 weeks you can get a full set for basically free, plus the the daily dungeon completion rewards will total around 25g.

I only have a guardian out of those list, and am currently leveling an ele. Still, out of personal exprerience and from having lots of other classes in my groups, I can generally say:

-WvW
ele/guard
Either are best for zergs. I have an ele freind who uses a D/D bunker build thats supposed to be really good for WvW.

-PvE
guard/ele/mes
All classes that you listed could work EXCEPT for necro, do not roll one as I’ve heard they’re just terrible at this. also, a guard definitely has highest survivability when dealing with mobs.

-AoE
ele >guard >necro >mes
easy. ele is the strongest AoE dps class. guard would probably come close with staff and scepter and I don’t really know about necro, but mes have some of the most terrible AoE capabilities, except if they say choose to shatter their clones.

-Can take hits (survivability)
guard >ele >mes >necro
guardian aegis/reflect/block is without a doubt unparalleled in any other class. their defensive/protective capabilities are the absolute best in this regard.

-Healing
guard >ele
Guard has very good group support. heals as well. Ele might be able to also (havent much experience in this class yet).

-DPS
ele >mes >guard >necro
Ele has highest AoE dmg and generally the highest DPS with their summoned weps etc. which are also a HUGE bonus in some dungeons (like AC).

In conclusion: you’d be looking at either a guard or ele. it really comes dwon to a question of whether you favor survivability or higher DPS. Guard has some of the best protection/regen skills in the game, ele has the most devastating AoE attacks and highest DPS of all classes (arguably).

Dungeon Leader Leaving, Everyone Gets Kicked

to the 1st question: nah. i think its great the way it is. i agree that it sucks when your on the short end of the stick, but when your not.. I have been thankful for the way anet designed this on many a merry occassion, when ive opened the dung and a few mins in I find my group is a bunch of complete kittens, so I happily wish them the best of luck and leave.

to the 2nd question: I think that’s what makes PuGs so much fun. you never know what kind of awsome kittens your going to end up with. its like a bag of trail mix, really the thrill is in not knowing! In all seriousness, if the party leader disconnects I dont think it will kick everyone. Ive had this happen to me on afew occassions ive opened dungs, gotten horrendous lag and DCed, relogged to find my party is still safely inside.

to the 3rd question: because. punishments and rewards must be dished out in equal measure. its the anet mantra.

Kicking from Dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

nagr.1593

This dungeon kicking need to be fixed. I don’t kick people mid dungeon unless that guy can’t be back in 10 minute. But Today ran with Pug group that some of them happen to be in same guild. Saw one of them running bad build but I don’t really mind though.
Untill group got to spider midboss in TA. which experienced people would know that spider got only 2 attack pattern. Then one of them said that I didn’t run reflect in utiliy. So I reply that he should use dodge more.

Then at last tree boss when boss got 5% left I got lighting fast kicked.after saying that i only run for daily and don’t want to continue with group.

But there a twist that the other guy(dungeon starter) who not in that guild do the justice for me. He whispered that he kicked those guild group on the run when boss near dead as well.

I really hope that you still got those conversation in your log after being kicked out of instance so that you can report them properly.

To be fair, whenever I run this path on my guard I always use reflects, but only for my personal safety. I do dodge and use aegis/blocks in addition to this, but the upshot of this is that I can stay in melee range with him throughout the duration of the fight and comfortably sit around 90%+ health.

However, not all guards are as well-informed as this (probably comes from inexperience). I usually run TA on my warrior, I melee Malrona and while I don’t have access to as many blocks/reflects as I do on my guard, I still manage to dodge most of the hits and rarely get downed anymore. I ran with a group of 2 guards once and neither of them opted to use reflects on this boss. TBH it didn’t really bother me at all, since I have learned never to rely on reflects when PuGs are involved. I choose to run with friends when its a matter of trust.

As to the group that kicked you? Clearly they were justified in doing so, though not for the reason that people have said (i.e that you didn’t provide reflects). You yourself said it, you didn’t feel like continuing the run with the group. If someone said that in chat in one of my groups, I’d automatically call a kick on them. If you don’t feel like running, then obviously you’re going to moan and whine and not contribute to group effort much if we let you stay. So my question to you is, what other response were you expecting from a PuG?

Now since its profitable to only run one path daily once, however if it is say a daily speed run for all paths of a dungeon, it makes perfect sense to occasionally see people checking for zerk gear. Though I would say again the number of elitist posts has drastically reduced..

Please stop implying that zerkers are elitists. Most zerkers are utterly noobs, labels like this is what generates false myths and leads to a so called general consensus.

Dead DPS is no DPS.

That being said I am strongly against cleric gear, PVT on the other hand is perfectly acceptable, specially in high lvl fotms .

Tl;dr: Zerker gear can be excellent unfortunately most ppl using it are not.

I can assure you I meant what I said. When people still farmed CoF, most zerkers were elitists. I would know because I was one of them, that believed a group with mesmer and 3+ wars could usually clear the path faster than any other group simply because of the constant might stack uptime you could expect . If an engi or necro joined, they would of course get instant kicks. Even if you were a warrior and had crap gear, such as greens or PVT gear with dolyak runes, I’d also kick you for failing to read. However I have run with a few experienced ranger/ele/thief to realize that their buffed DPS is better than what wars can provide. So I was elitist in my belief that full zerk was optimal for CoF speed runs. As I said, the number of these elitist posts have gone down, that doesn’t mean those people have changed their views. Its simply that the game doesn’t favor elitist attitudes anymore.

Over and over I see players saying in every class forum and at every junction that they got kicked for not wearing full zerkers. Here is what I do not get in a full year of player. I have yet to actually encounter this in game.

Really..? Out of a whole year playing you’ve never encountered a group demanding full zerk gear? I don’t know what dungs youve been running, but I know for certain if you tried to join a group for say CoF P1 on the LFG site before the aug 6th patch (think that was the date) chances were high you would get swarmed by posts of groups demanding full zerker gear, asking to ping everything including trinkets and sigils/runes, even the class mattered. Of course the patch that made farming the same path unprofitable also got rid of most of these elitist posts, but I can promise you there wre like 10x more before this. Now since its profitable to only run one path daily once, however if it is say a daily speed run for all paths of a dungeon, it makes perfect sense to occasionally see people checking for zerk gear. Though I would say again the number of elitist posts has drastically reduced..

Best weapon sigil to maximize DPS?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I need clarification here. Are you saying one Force and one Accuracy do not stack together, or two Forces or two Accuracy do not stack?

If I understand your question correctly, two Forces or two Accuracy do not do stack. So if have axe/axe both with the same sigils (force) you would only get a +5% crit dmg bonus total. Same thing with really any two of the same sigils, they don’t stack at all. However, I believe the wiki is wrong (If I’m understanding its meaning correctly). If you have a mainhand with force and offhand with accuracy, they should both stack, giving you a 5% crit dmg and 5% crit chance.

This is the same reason why I run a sigil of night on my mainhand for all dungs, and on my offhand I have something else, for instance a sigil of battle or energy or a dungeon-specific sigil If I just need solid DPS (since 2 sigils of the nights don’t stack). However, be careful with having both on-hit (or any cooldown) sigils for dual-wielding since both share the both cooldowns. So say you have Sigil of Fire and Energy on your mainhand/offhand weps. The energy would trigger 1st (on wep swap) and the sigil of fire would only be able to activate after the cooldown.

Warrior Questions

in Players Helping Players

Do not run full zerker gear until you’ve become good at avoiding damage and fighting actively. I would recommend running a balanced statspread at first (Knight/Valkyrie) and practicing surviving in hard content, perhaps even trying to solo some group fights. Once you’re more experienced and don’t die much, you can swap out pieces for zerker.

I say this as someone who has had to peel countless zerkers off the ground in countless dungeon runs. It’s better to learn with balanced armor and then move to zerker than to die constantly as a zerker, especially if you’re PUGing rather than running with a skilled static group.

This. Probably the best advice regarding what was asked in the OP. would also apply to other classes, not just warriors. I’ve learned the hard way not to jump straight into zerker gear. However now that i’m proficient with timing my dodge rolls (add GS 3 to that, get an extra evade in) I can say that my survivability is high. I even got accused of running toghness/vit gear once because i was the one taking least dmg in my group on a boss fight (can you believe it?)

Also, you won’t benefit your group if your dying all the time. I recommend full knights slotted with rubies (it’s what I first used). Once you’ve got the hang of being a warrior, switch to a full zerk build with scholars (traitwise I’d use 30/0/0/10/30 for groups, refer to this vid http://youtu.be/xlZNjDDL42s). And don’t worry, most wars run zerk builds and I’d highly recommend it to you..once you’re confident that you can juggle DPS and survivability without costing your group valuable time, of course.

As you will come to see, gear doesn’t play much of a role in your survivability, mainly your skills as a warrior. In specific dungeons such as TA, Arah i’d recommend carrying a shield and stability/condi removal skills as those will be infinitely more useful than gear/traits.

What am I in for?

One time I saw this expereinced engi in wvw..he was amazing. Took on four or five us for a good few minutes, it was scary how good he was. about two dozen small red aoe circles all around him, impossible not to step in at least one of them. i had so many stacks of condi on me, bleeds, cripples, etc. dude was dodging backwards and doing cartwheels, seemed to be teleporting around aroudn the place like some sort of circus performer…i was melee and couldnt even touch him. Eventually we got him, but only because there were like 10 of us. However I wouldnt recommend engi if your new as watching that dude fight, it rly takes a lot of skill and expertise to pull something like that off. I’d recommend you start off wilth a warrior to learn the ropes. Simple mechanics to learn and master (GS to the face, shout your enemies to death, carry banners, etc.) and overall very easy to play, with a perfect mix of dps, group support and survivability (once you get the hang of timing your dodge rolls). IMHO every group needs a warrior who knows how to hold their ground and spam bursts like a champ.

Best weapon sigil to maximize DPS?

Depends what your planning on doing rly. I usually run dungeons, so sigil of night makes sense. However If i’m doing something like wvw i’d probly switch it out for force. Unfortunately sigils dont stack, however on your offhand you can use a dungeon-specific sigil (for total of +20% dmg on both). Say if I’m on robot duty for CoE P1, I’d go axe/axe with night and seeking (10% dmg vs. inquest) sigils.

AC P3 Burrows Order

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

For anyone looking for a quick/easy way to memorize the burrows order in AC P3, useful if everyone in your group is clueless to the actual order (which in extreme cases could lead to a wipe) here is a list of the actual order I put together. Note that in the picture the entrance to the room is to the north, burrow 1 starts at the south where groups usually stack to begin the event.

Useful tips to remembering the correct order: refer to burrows by their number, note there are 15 total. Also recognize a pattern on whether they are below or above the stairs (on the raised platform thing). Usually this is a pattern of 2 or 3 consecutive burrows, for instance burrows 8-10 are all below the stairs, on ground level. Also note that all consecutive burrows on the platform are directly opposite from each other in the room. This should make remembering the order very easy.

In-game LFG needs fixes/features

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

nagr.1593

Just use the gw2lfg.com site. People too dumb or too lazy to read generally do not use that site, so you’ll have a better selection of players.

This is probably the dumbest assumption I have heard. Only possible reason this could be true now is that there are less people using gw2lfg site since there’s an ingame LFG thing thats easier to use, so you’ve only dealt with those kinds of people. A few months ago when CoF P1 farming was a thing, the opposite would defnitely have been true, since everyone used that site. And i mean everyone…we used to update posts every few secs because people only used to read only posts <1min (there were alot of posts). Plus they used to skim those posts too, sometimes not even read. I remember I had groups with posts for a zerk warrior and an ele or engi joins, or more likely a thief joins and says he can gate the fastest. or we posted for a mesmer and a warrior joined, we had to kick him. Or sometimes a lv21 joined and asked what CoF was. Sometimes i’d post for P2 and people would join saying they had sworn the post had said P1. The possiblites were endless, because most people never bothered to read anything. The only reason I’d imagine you have more of thse kinds of people on the new LFG thing is because most of them switched over from gw2lfg and similar sites. I know for a fact that a lvl36 ele joined for the in-game LFM post for my lv30 fractal group yesterday and said she thought it had meant char level 30+ (she had no idea what difficulty scale meant). I used to encounter similar kinds of people in gw2lfg all the time…

Ruby or Scholar

Read my post btw, it is actual numbers. You can just google your question and get them, but as long as your above 90% health about quarter or more of the time, go scholars. There’;s actual calculations for this sort of stuff but I’d rather not know. So let’s say your fighting alpha COE P2 (only have to worry about the huge aoe circles) and you manage to dodge every one. your health would be above 90% defnitely most of the time in that fight. so scholars is better. but lets say you screw up your timing, get downed and rally with like 20% health. and then get downed again awhile later (and maybe die). in that case rubys would be better. I realize this is kind of a terrible example but I don’t know how to explain it better.
