How to get more warrior DPS?

axe auto is always superior to GS auto, especially if you dont interrupt the axe auto chain. besides with trait Rending Strikes your axe auto also adds vuln. so with crrect rotation a/m including an autoattk chain you can quickly stack ~10 stacks of vuln. If you have at least one other person in ur group who knows how to stack vuln youll alrdy have max stack. also remember that with Fast Hands u should try to always wep swap soon as its rdy. With GS all u rly need is 2 3 5, then swap to get your axe rotation in. Though 1 or 2 hits with GS auto isnt going to kill your dps overmuch, long as you dont camp it.

I do feel Sprint can be useful especialy if your using BS instead of SoR, however with war mobility being how it is (GS/sword) I feel you wont rly need it. Besides, Signet Mastery means faster CD on SoR, so you have swiftness/might more often. also Sprint dosnt stack with swiftness. so whenever you have swiftness it replaces (overrides) Sprint, so its only useful 50% of the time with SoR. Then again.. dosnt rly matter what u get for this traitline. There is a slight dps boost with sig mastery though, if your not alrdy at max might stack I mean.

@kyubi eithr a troll or dosnt know wtf hes talkin about. everythin he lists is wrong

anyway..first off are u using exact Nikes build, all the right traitlines? its important because that is max DPS with GS+ A/X build. Next thing you want to make sure is to carry Disc/Str banner whenever possible, always run FGJ and SoR to maximize ur DPS (can switch out to BS for some tough content). Also BL is a very bad choice for your main GS, switch it to Night which is best if your doing dungs.. with the exception of daytime dungs like Arah you can use dung-specific sigil OR force (dosnt rly matter). because if your goal to stack BL u can use the sigils on dual-wielding sets (Axe/X) to proc 2x stacks. next thing u should follow is Shisehise advice except I would add do NOT use GS autoattack at all, axe autoattack is waay better (main reason for axe set too..) If u dont use axe autoattack and only switch to Axe/X to stack vuln than your defeat half hte purpose. Also biggest advice to NOT use evis until the very end..when ufight at zero adren you lose out 15% dmg which is a huge deal. if u have a problem like me of usin evis a lot get Surge to instantly regain adren. If ufollow the above tips u should be hitting mid-30s consistently at least.. not mid-20s. With a good gorup I hit 50k+ HB on alpha and 100k HB on Malrona when poisoned.

Best dungeon Builds Per Class?

30 (V IX XI), 25 (V X), 0, 0, 15(VI) indeed provides the highest dmg output for wars, whether running dungs or solo. 10 in Tactics used to make sense before Empower Allies was moved up a traitline, however now I simply believe its not worth it. In most dungs you will be able to place banners each encounter despite the overlong CD, also its not worth sacrificing the traits in Arms as they are more crucial for sustained dps. Utilites are simple, FGJ is usually locked in stone, for the rest two slots I tend to run banners (Disc > rest) though if you have another war in the group you can coordinate with him. In the case of trash runs or PuG encounters such as AC P1/2 endboss and Lupi, condi removal and stability will prove best. In the general case, if you need survivability on a free slot take Endure Pain. Additionally with this build SoR > BS except in bossfights like Lupi where most groups usually down alot. Weapon sets like aforementioned are GS and Axe with situational Mace/Sword offhand.

My fault if warriors died from agony...

Except, AP is usually a good indicator if someone is good. A guy with 6k AP (especially a gold star) generally knows what hes doin, while a dude with 800 AP will usually end up dying or not doin enough dmg to begin with. It sucks, but thats the way it works. The warriors in your SE group were actually nice, they decided to leave instead of kicking the under-leveled 600AP ele.. which I would’ve most likely done, especially if the post was for a speed run. And I can guarantee you that while the lowbie ele might know the gist of what he was doin, there were many things he didn’t know..for instance optimal rotations, best gear/traits for situations. When I had around 600 AP, I’d sit in one spot and spam hundred blades, otherwise usually end up wiping or following others around. Stacking might/boons isn’t that hard either btw..just requires pressing a button or two. I dunno how you would equate that with being experienced with your class.

one of my favorite combos is A/A+LB. Build adren, drop a fire field in the middle of a group of mobs, swap to A/A and pop Whirling Axe. I find this combination fun! All games should be about what’s fun, not about what’s most effective. If you have fun playing the most effective build, that’s fine, but imo Fun > All. So if you want to run A/A, by all means do it.

This sort of fun would also result in many more deaths than necesary. Thus effectively killing your fun unless you choose to use a more ‘effective’ build.

Gold worthless in "endgame"

chronometria summed up my GW2 financial situation perfectly. I think I had 150g at most… spent most of it on chest keys. I’ve got everything I want except a Legendary, and those cost too much to be a realistic goal, so I just dump my money into random stuff.

The thing I’ve been finding myself thinking about alot lately is this: it will never be more efficient for me to farm in game vs. dropping 20 or 30 bucks of real life money on gems… and I think the game is designed that way on purpose. They’d rather us drop the 20 bucks than farm for a month for the same amount of gold, so they aren’t going to allow farming methods to become too lucrative.

You can see this in the way they control farming methods. So many of the most efficient farms have been nerfed before the majority of people find them, and when they introduce a living story farming method like the Scarlett events, EVERYBODY goes to them and the inflation evens out people’s individual profits, so you can’t really “get ahead”.

So I guess the question becomes, how do you get ahead of the inflation? Or rather, is it worth it to try if a Legendary is the only thing you can’t really afford? It’s an odd conundrum.

Dont give up Legendaries are top-tier for a reason, if everyone had access to them within a week or so of inputting only an hour so each day then everyone be would runnin around with them. At first it was frustrating for me as well, pooling my gold towards my 1st legendary. It ended up costing 1450g in mats which included buying out the precursor from the TP, I was only able to meet this sum after a solid 3-4 months of farming CoF (back in the day). It was generally easier as I was able to easily make 15-25g/day to meet my goal. Nowadays it is a little harder to meet this goal but the FGS champ train is probably comparable (until anet decides to nerf it). I havent spent a single dollar on gems to gold yet, dont let people fool you into thinking everyone who has legendaries got theirs this way.

Remember ride the lightning for Eles?

People are still complaining about RTL?

Get over it.

For the record, Rush is nothing like RTL. Neither is Savage Leap.

Also, Eles have access to superior versions of the three major warrior movement skills via conjured weapons:

  • Savage Leap is inferior to Lightning Leap, as the latter has a shorter cooldown
  • Rush is inferior to Fiery Rush, as the former is buggy as heck
  • Whirlwind Attack is inferior to Fiery Whirl, as the latter has a shorter cooldown, longer evade and a cripple

Conjured weapons? If your listing utility skills you should also include wars Bull Charge, though it does have a very long CD. Also thers the war traitline that reduces recharge on GS skills by 20%. As I have a lv41 ele I am aware eles have similar traitlines but theirs only affects air weapon skills (i.e. RTL), not conjured weapons. In recent patches anet has claimed Rush was fixed and while its no longer as buggy as it used to be, on rare instances it still does bug out occasionally (somethin with collision I guess). Also I can tell you as I have both a war and ele its slightly easier to run aroud maps with my war mainly cause of perma swiftness/leaps but thats probly cause I’m not that used to ele yet.

I got 2 legends, 600g and i dont know on what i should spend money.. Gold seems a bit useless to me in current state, its might change with ascended armors+new leg items tho.

omg same..except mine is like in excess of like 800g now. Wasted like 520g on name change, skins, etc. but I can be very frugal when I maek up my mind. Probly gonna gear up my ele with that and then pool it towards a legendary..probly dagger/staff whatever. I use to farm CoF b4 the nerf it was actually easier to make gold, now I just run daily dungs but you can hop on the champ train in FGS like most of my freinds r doin atm..

SOLO-Able Dungeons and Fractals plz

This implies dungeon/fractal content isnt currently soloable. It is, just a bit tricky and obviously takes alot longer. So far I’ve soloed CoF and TA though I know for instance there’s this guy Wethospu whos soloed like literally all dungeons possible. However, if you mean soloing dungeons should take roughly as long as doing it with a group, at about the same level of difficulty and reward (meaning the mobs should be scaled down for solo play), its not a bad idea. BTW, the end instance Nightmare Incarnate was also soloable. Its probably the easiest dungeon to solo next to the Nightmare Chambers one, I do agree we should see more of these type of content.

Newbie Question: Race and Profession

in Players Helping Players

nagr.1593

Honestly, your probably looking at either a warrior/thief. Thief is generally better for single-target DPS from what I’ve heard, though warriors are sort of the all-around class in GW2. Able to solo stuff, provide group support with shouts and banners, as heavies they are more forgiving (you can take a couple hits and shrug it off even if you do manage to mess up), are top-notch dps if specced correctly and are one of the most highly desired classes in dungeons, next to guard/eles. The above are some of the reasons most newbies tend to roll a warrior for their 1st class. Plus its actually prty fun to play a war, despite what most people think. Though the same can be said of really any class, once you become experienced enough with it. http://youtu.be/6D_u9JNGdYA

Its also true GW2 doesnt have a dedicated healer class. The closest is probably a guard that is excellent support, provides regen/protection etc. to the entire group. A guard correctly specced can also match a warrior’s dps. However playing a guard/ele also requires more skill than playing a warrior. I might have recommended a guard but since your starting out and looking for a dps class, warrior/thief is probably the best fit for you.

Axe/axe does have its uses, mainly for its ability to cleave multiple mobs all around you. Its useful if your say defending on the 1-4 robot part in CoE P1, I always go axe/axe for that. Otherwise, I don’t really tend to use it.

If you mean daggers since they kinda look the same, you can try thief or ele. The deal with d/d ele their attacks are all spells so there’s no stabbing involved at all..so maybe that wouldn’t count.

I play a warrior and I can tell you I’ve never tried sword/sword since it simply isnt viable, at least in PvE. Though I do wish we could have better skills for dual-wielding swords, it would be awesome. Sword mainhand is great for mobility, situationally useful in both PvE/WvW. Sword offhand is actually not bad but I can’t say the same for axe offhand. Just terrible and no reason you would get this unless your cleaving multiple mobs all around you (say for the robot part in CoE P1).

Left out warhorn for partywide swiftness/vigor as well as curing conditions that impair movement. Shield is great for trash runs such as those required in TA and Arah, also quite useful in WvW. Mace offhand is great for vuln stacking and CC (knockdown) which most wars forget has 1200 range, greater than bow autoattack and skills unless traited right. As far as ranged weps go, I recently learned bow>rifle for DPS in literally all cases, the utilities are also better.

The other one I liked is not really a JP but actually a vista. But getting there was really fun (plus it took me leik an hour to figure out how to do it) and its the only vista I actually remember even with my 100% map completion so..lol. the Breached Wall vista in Diessa i think.

Im also leveling ele, lv41 so far. Been using only d/d so far actually, havent really touched staff at all. You can still kite with d/d (alternate with fire 3 → 4 → 2/5 → air autoattack for max dmg) , just need to change attunements a lot and use the right skills to stay alive. Its a little challenging at 1st but also very fun. My skill setup at this point is mainly built for mobility since I am running arnd a lot. the healing Glyph just for the swiftness when attuned to air. Signet of Air at all times for obvious reasons, Arcane Shield and Armor of Earth/Arcane Wave. Get Fiery GS when you unlock slot for ulti. Traitwise I am just winging it haha. I first had 0/10/0/0/10 with Zephyr’s Boon and Elemental Attunement. +10% move speed when attuned to air is a nice bonus with this traitline. I’ll probably retrait since I hit 40 but same traitlines, 0/20/0/0/20 what I’ll be aiming for.

Need help picking a good solo class

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I want a class that does well in PvE and is generally wanted for dungeons and stuff. But can also hold their own when it comes to PvP/WvW

And hearing that elementalists are just super squish and die wicked easily i dont even want to bother with them.

I want a class that is capable of dealing high amounts of damage, and still having some decent survivability wether it be from evasivness, to just general defense.

And i hear a lot of good things about Warrior but they just have no depth, its like a ok i run in and swing my weapon for days and use a couple shouts/stances and thats it. no real strategy.

I like being able to outplay my apponent and do crazy things some people might not expect.

Just if anyone can help me find a class that fits these at least a little bit it would help a lot.

It’s funny how you’re bashing on warriors, but they’re actually one of the few classes that best fits your criteria :P

You’re not the 1st to feel that warrior is a boring class either. Most people are of the same opinion, and the number of wars running around swinging GS and spamming hundred blades probably adds credence to this. There was a similar topic discussoin and my post can be found here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Which-is-the-best-funnest-GW2-class/first#post3211125

Basically, once you become experienced enough (with the mechanics of the game really, not ncessarily with your class) you will find that no class is really ‘boring’. This is because you are free to experiment with new weapons, skills, and approaches. Yes, the bread and butter of warriors in dungs is to faceroll GS 2/3, provide banners and shouts to aid group effort. But its a lot more than that, for instance when you go up against hammer warriors in WvW you will see how deftly they stack stuns/KDs/bleed/cripple/knockbacks not to mention their insane speed and mobility. In the case of dungeons, warriors do actually weapon swap quite often, instead of simply running around with GS all the time (at least the good ones do). I’ll use TA as an example, since that’s where I wep swap the most: shield can be used to run through the blossoms and block the spider boss’s AoE (its actually quite handy). Sword mainhand is useful in running through trash mobs, offhand it can be used to block wurms periokittennockbacks (HOW this was censored??) as well as safely run through bubbles that would otherwise down you (and usually down others who try to).

I would also recommend a guardian. They are on par with warriors when it comes to dungeons, if not better. I’ve also heard that guard DPS is better than warriors but I honestly don’t believe that. I will say that as I do have an 80 guard, I find its a little easier on my guard due to accessibility to more blocks and heals, but a skilled warrior can use his extra evades/mobility to make up for this.

I’m also currently leveling an ele (still kinda low level) and while it is indeed very squishy if you don’t know how to use it right, it is very rewarding when you become proficient with it. I would just say you need more skill to really play an ele well, as compared to playing a warrior well. One slip up and you could very well die.

Totally new PVE player

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

So i am leveling my character at this moment and i have a few questions:

1. Which one items should i salvage and which one not? Some people say ‘sell green/blue/yellow items to vendor/trade post’ but now we can get ‘essence of luck’ from salvaging items so next question…

I found list of things which should be salvaged: Rich Clump of Ore; Valuable Metal; Scrap; Soiled Rag; Ragged Garment; Frayed Garment; Frayed Rag; Loaded Clump of Ore; Metal Scrap + White Items

2. Is it important to have high value of magic find? At this moment i have 35% (27lvl).

3. Why does mobs hit like a truck my Ranger? Not even with ‘toxic’ in name.

4. What do you think about ranger in pve?

5. Could you give me some tips? I am still looking for good tips about whole game. I found some but it would be nice to know more. Please don’t think i am lazy. I can link some info if you want to check me.

1. I just salvage all the blues/greens simply to get my MF% up, they’re worthless otherwise. Sometimes if I’m pressed on time, I’ll just vendor them. If I don’t have immediate access to either a vendor or salvage kits? I’ll just destroy them. Don’t bother checking the TP prices, thats a huge waste of time.. at best you’ll save an extra silver or two. Yellows, I list them all on the TP. Sitting and thinking about ecto drop rates etc. will make your head hurt and frustrate you to no end, especially if you have terrible luck with RNG in general. Whites (salvage items) I usually get rid of, the return rate is even worse.. in terms of copper instead. Otherwise, go ahead and salvage if bag space isn’t an issue.

3. Because you’re not a heavy? I don’t know. You could try to dodge. And sitting in one spot and kiting doesn’t exactly work..

4. I don’t.

5. Not really.. play the game, you’ll figure it out. Look at some ranger guides on youtube, especially the ones geared towards PvE/dungeon content since that’s what you should tackle first. Well, that and making some coin. Last I heard champ train in FGS was still going on, its probably the best way. But generally: dungs/fractals -> gold -> better gear -> farming -> legendaries/ascended. Only other tip: have fun being a noob, you only get to be one once.. YOLO and all that. I have never failed so many times than when I was starting out. I saved up karma for like a month to get temple armor, then realized the stats were crap so dropped it and went for zerker dungeon armor instead. CoF P1 would probably be your thing. Probably most noob-friendly path to date, except for maybe AC P3.

6. Map completion is a waste of time. Especially if you’re near broke and are just doing it for the title.. only try for this when you have sufficient amt of gold and are aiming for legendary, otherwise your just shooting yourself in the foot if you try to. Dungeons ultimately net you $$, although still a good source for skill points, karma, crafting mats, etc. Fractals are mainly for 20-slot bags and ascended trinkets, especially the rings/back-piece. Literally no other reason you should/would run this.

7. I’m not the best person to give advice on gear much less for rangers, but why not jump straight into zerk armor. I’d imagine you’ve probably died countless times on your quest to 80, full zerk isn’t much worse than this (better actually). Spamming CoF P1/2 will get you your zerk set fastest.

8. Laurels: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Laurel. I rarely do any dailies/monthlies by choice anymore but thats probably your best option.

9. The salvage kits I use for blue/greens: Basic. The only difference from Crude kits: more charges. Use BL/Mystic if you’re trying to salvage yellows./exotics. Though only time I do this now is for Dark Matter mats for ascended.

nagr.1593

Just a matter of implementing Defiant better. The current version simply doesn’t work right. Stun locking of course shouldn’t be possible. Not against bosses, and not against players. But to make bosses immune and resistant to entire game mechanics, is not only lazy, but it breaks the combat system. It makes classes that rely on control skills and conditions a joke, when facing a boss.

Bosses should be affected by CC and by all conditions. They should not be immune to anything, or else the game favors DPS over the other mechanics (which is exactly the state of the game we have right now).

But then what about spiky fruit? They should remove consumables that provide unlimited knockdowns if that were the case, since otherwise Alpha for instance wouldn’t get a chance to use his AoEs or any attacks at all..most dungs would be a cakewalk otherwise, especially with constant CC spam/interrupts on bosses. I feel its fine the way it is. I mean imagine the Effigy boss in CoF or the Nightmare Tree in TA being affected by throwbacks/KDs/Fear etc..

Personally CoE isnt exactly a cakewalk for me, even though ive been running it for like 2 months and I still manage to slip up sometimes on alpha and get downed. Same thing with p3 the destroyer boss, my occasional blunder by failing to run back up, I got thrown out into the lava and die. CoE 2/3 are definitely harder, I dunno if you’ve tried them yet but it requires timing in dodges that I am proud to say I failed at my 1st few times. Have only run all paths HoTW once or twice, mainly for dungeon master. I don’t run that otherwise since I don’t like it at all, so I cant offer you any help there.

Yes, CoF and AC are definitely some of the easier dungs, though I would also recommend TA since I personally find that more fun than either of them. I dunno what class you play, but as a warrior I recommend obtaining a sword/shield since there are quite a few instances of trash runs, if you plan on tackling this dungeon (applies to Arah as well).

Which is the best (funnest) GW2 class

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

In the end its all a matter of perspective, everyone has their own playstyle and the classes that they find most fun/enjoyable are for them paradigms that best exemplify this. For instance, I originally wanted a class that could provide high sustained DPS and at the same time be more tankier to allow for better survivability. I was also leaning more towards melee combat, so warrior was the best choice for me. I went into it with the pre-conception that it would be a hack-and-slash class where youd just have to swing your GS and spam a button or two to win. I will say that once you truly become experienced with your class, you will find it really fun. Obviously I don’t agree that warrior is a boring class, once you understand a class and figure out which skills/weps are best for which situation you will rarely fail (and thus find it rather fun). For instance, earlier today I duo’d the Warder champ in TA with an ele while the rest of my group wiped somehow, I agree it is an easy champ but it was a fun fight, I was having a blast. My advice is to choose a class that best fits your playstyle, really all are fairly balanced.

For brief vid of what warrior class is capable of: http://youtu.be/mebQdX9CzhQ

And yes, I have better examples.. but this works :P

This is same thing happen to me too. I get “error to connect to log-in server” and my game crashes. Its only just recent (since yesterday, I’m starting to think its the new patch). Only usually when someone else opens the dung (is fine when I do), and I can’t enter no matter how many times I relog.. dunno what is the problem.

keeping getting LOG-IN ERROR when enter dungs

nagr.1593

This error is recent, ive been using the same internet for months and never got this. Ive known other people that also recently getting this error that they are unable to enter instance for some reason. Plus this only happens when someone else opens the dung, it is fine when I start it (everyone else can join too). i confrimed earlier this is with dungs in general, same thing with CoF (2 others couldn’t enter). Also, its not disconnectng when just entering dungeons. 1st time though, and immediately after restarting client and relogging it disconnect simply for that (not for clicking on the prompt to enter). Subsequent relog attempt works fine. but this is a pattern and im wondering why is this happen

btw here’s some pics of this in action, many other people complaints on this.

I am 100% sure this something with the recent patch, this has never happened to me before. ever since ysterday, whenever i try to enter dungeons that someone else opened I get (TA exp for instance) I continuously get the “Unable to gain access access to the log-in server” error and get disc. I have to restart my client, after like ~7 times in a row this happens, both when i click on prompt to enter the dung and even at the login screen when I try to log on (WTF??) and finally when i tried to relog that time I was removed from the group, just wnating to know WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?! I dno’t know if this is a server-related thing (I’m in JQ) or WHAT THE kitten this new patch did, but this is starting to kitten me off.

Whispering bug?

I am pretty sure what you are describing is invis status, doesn’t necessarily mean your friend has blocked you. Thats when people appear offline, but they’re not. People with invis status also can’t be whispered, though you can still invite them to groups (probably should be fixed). For more information on this:

How does my set look?

in Players Helping Players

nagr.1593

^this is just terrible armor choice, the OP obviously has a better looking set. Anyways..lol. I still have the same shoulder skin as you, strangely enough I also used the same colors as well, gold and silver. Though I used a darker yellowish color (think it was called Dijon). But thats where the similarities end, I had greyish/red hues for my armor. Now since my armor is all black, my shoulders are complementary hues of grey.

For armor set choices I would suggest 1st looking at the dungeon armor sets, some are very nice for human. CoF armor especially, I used to wear that because it looked soo cool. Though your endgame would probably be temple/order/cultural armor with a splash of any living story sets you happen to like. As it was for me.

Sudden, unexpected death

nagr.1593

I believe you’ve just described the symptoms of ‘severe Lag spikes’. In all seriousness though, this used to happen to me in CoF p1 for instance, when I had cases of terrible lag. I would have full health one second, and all other players would appear to not be moving at all my screen (though they were). Next thing I know I would be dead where I stood, though nothing killed me..except my lag.

Invisibile status doesn't work well

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I honestly didn’t know this was a way to identify invis friends…until now. I don’t think its still really a big deal. I have like 100 friends or something on my list (most of them random people from runs I added) and I don’t even notice of the offline who is actually (offline) and who is invis. I don’t really hav a problem with this personally.

Another bug I noticed, related to this of course, is that while you cannot whisper invis friends, you can still invite them to groups. Which I feel is kinda ridiculous (and kinda goes against the purpose of invis status).

TA Explorable Path Selection Bug

nagr.1593

Have already had 2 instances of this problem when doing TA Exp with groups, I agree it is relatively easy to solve (i.e. instance starter leaves and rejoins) but this is rather sloppy and hope it will be fixed sometime soon. The bug in question activates whenever the 1st dialog option with Morrigu (asking her about the nightmare court) is chosen before the choice to open the Exp path.

Sigil of Battle vs. Bloodlust?

in Warrior

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I know its probly an undisputed fact that in dungs like CoE 2/3 or Arah where there are a lot of trash mobs that are relatively easy to kill, a stacking sigil (like Bloodlust) would make more sense than using sigil of battle. But what about in cases like TA forward or CoE P1 for instance, where there are not a huge number of mobs, but still a sufficient amount?

SIgil of Battle:
assuming full rotation of skills on GS+axe/x build, you would use about 6.5sec on each set followed by the 5sec cd on wep swap. Therefore sigil of battle would trigger roughly every 18sec, since the might stacks it provides lasts 20sec, this would literally mean a constant uptime of 105 power.

Sigil of Bloodlust:
Using TA forward as an example, with a good/organized group the wurms/archers take around 5-10sec to kill. Which means you can easily get 5 stacks (50 power) in under a minute. If you were to use this sigil at all times at every fight/encounter, you could fight Leurent at exactly 20 stacks (+200 power). which would definitely put this better than battle at that point (provided you don’t get downed until then, which is not an issue for me).

So I guess my actual question is, how big of a deal is 50-100 power in terms of dmg, assuming full zerker gear/traits? The reason is because near the start of TA (or really any dung) if you chose BL instead you would be fighting with a loss of this much. What are your thoughts on which would be a better sigil in this case?

Could someone explain avoidance mechanics?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

Dodge/blocks are the keys to avoidance, however something no one mentioned is that there is also the option of invul skills (if you have them) that let you take no damage from hits for a short duration. There are a few of these (such as warrior Endure Pain) which only mitigate 100% direct damage, meaning you’d still be susceptible to condi’s such as burn/bleed/poison, etc.

Regarding the strafing videos, I actually make use of that tactic whenever I’m forced to solo/duo anything and I need to avoid ranged projectiles (as I play a warrior, I don’t have the luxury of reflects). And Sobat beat me to this as well, with some bosses you can actually walk around them or run backwards to get clear of their attacks, provided they have choreographed animations with sufficient wind-up time. Risen undead abomination in Arah P2, Malrona (her venom spray attack, specifically) in TA Up, the Searing Effigy end-boss in CoF P1, and the ice golem near the start of CoE are all examples of this.

Also, if you an ‘all-thumbs’ person like me who has a tendency to hit the same movement keys in quick succession unintentionally (or with an another purpose in mind), you might want to forego the option of directional dodge via double-tap. I simply hit a directional key followed by V, this also serves the same purpose but admittedly is less convenient.

Question about legendaries?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I agree..and I’m pretty sure Falunel was being sarcastic (though I can’t be sure). The whole idea of transmuting an Ascended look into a legendary seems..extremely dumb. No offense. First of all, why? The only actual benefit you would gain from this is the ability to switch stats on the go. Then again you would also have the legendary quality (purplish item color) but the only reason you might need this is for bragging rights, so that’s out of the question. Then you’d have to ask yourself whether [what you intend to do] is a sensible upshot of spending ~1000g to craft a legendary (of course most cost less/more to craft, I would say this is the average cost). Consider also that the reason most people strive for legendaries (as opposed to ascended) is for their aesthetic appeal.

I had trasnmutated my legendary pre-patch (before the one introducing the ‘changing stats’ option went live) since I had wanted a specific stat combo on it, but I was able to untransmutate it for free after the patch. Once I was able to lock in zerk stats for my legendary, I haven’t ever needed to change it once since. Though I do wish it were possible to change sigils as well (but I veer off-topic). In the end it really depends how many additional stat combinations you’re looking at. If its just one or two, I’d say just run duplicate exotics/ascended with those stats (since statwise there’s only about a 5% markup from exotic to ascended/legendary). If its a lot more, then it would probably make sense to transmutate the stats of your legendary with exotic/ascended, but thats only if the aesthetics of those appeal to you more than that of your legendary (personally I’d say if thats the case, anet isn’t doing their job well at all). But in the end, its your choice and decision to make.

How to annoy PUGs

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

There should really be a list for this.. I’ll start it off.

1. Refuse to stack in cases where stacking is best, or unstack mid-fight resulting in a group wipe (AC)
2. Refuse to rez people for any reason, period. Especially when they ask for help.
3. Go AFK for excessive periods of time, especially when your group needs you. Also make sure to start the dungeon and announce it in chat.
4. Link the nearest WP when someone dies, and proceed to get yourself stuck in combat for a few min. at least, so as to prevent them from doing so (TA)
5. While running through the room with the spiders eggs, break as many as you can (TA Up)
6. When the majority of your group wipes near the start of a boss fight, proceed to solo/duo the boss, just to show you can. Doesn’t matter if it takes ten times longer, they’ll thank you in the end.
7. Die on every single Alpha encounter possible. Continue to insist that you’re pro, but your group is lacking a dedicated healer. (CoE)
8. Fail to activate the console when your group is on the last part of 1-4 (CoE P1)
9. Melee Lupicus, but always fail to dodge his attack that spawns grubs. (Arah)
10. Constantly run in and out of your bubble at the gate controller part because you’re scared for your life, resulting in a group wipe and several scathing remarks from group members (CoF P1)
11. Or if you plan to gate, do it in style: http://youtu.be/P6Q6tS2kxSA

Should I salvage Greens?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: nagr.1593

Yes no maybe?

just pick 1.. cant go wrong with greens, they’re only worth a silver or two tops so doesn’t really matter what you do with them. It doesn’t make sense to check the TP prices for them either (waste of time). If you decide to sell them just vendor instead of posting them on the TP. Personally I just salvage all blues/greens since MF% is more important to me than a couple silver. but in the end, its your choice.

Omnomberry Ghost glitch

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

My complaint is that this specific issue with tranparency (i.e. boxlike, bubbly pixels) only appears on my screen after some recent patch, and that a month ago this was definitely not the case. I use that particular food quite frequently so I am pretty certain about this change. Also I have noticed that the settings I use does not change this (low or high doesnt matter).

When I used to use the Ghost food, I would become transparent but would see no noticeable bubbly pixels, and my weapons and backpiece would show up as they normally are (without transparency or pixels). As you can see from the images I had posted, this is not the case now since all my weapons/backpiece (it doesnt matter which one I use or if it has particle-type effects, I’ve tested this) are now transparent in addition to being pixelated goop. Before (some recent patch) they would appear as normal when I was in my mist-like form. I have seen someone else with the Ghost buff and they also appear as pixelated on my screen. Again, I am pretty certain this not an intended effect of the food.

Do away with "Error attempting to sell"

in Suggestions

Posted by: nagr.1593

nagr.1593

I would hypothesize that there are 2 different instances where “Error attempting to sell” appears: 1. legitimate error in selling, 2. Anti bot script triggered by: selling a certain volume of goods within a certain time period.

The 1st one I’m not so sure about, but i know the 2nd one is true for sure. This is because everyone gets this error..trust me all my guildies do too. After like 6 or so items I sell, this happens. And like I posted earlier all I have to do then is close the TP and run around and spam buttons to prove i’m not a bot, and after a few mins I am able to sell again. It is still kinda an inconveince though, frustrating at times.
