I stopped caring a long time ago. I stopped playing GW2 seriously after Dragon Bash. The game just started going in the wrong direction for me. Sure, there’s a lot of content, but the rewards don’t justify it. They are severely lacking and underwhelming.
Here’s a reference to all the releases: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
Can someone seriously say the rewards from all that content is worth it?
GW2 pvp needs factions. There isn’t any meaningful conflict. If GW2 had factions, there would be rivalries and pride. Imagine the medieval days without banners and realms, and kingdoms, etc. There was a sense of patritotism, and it’s like this in most MMOs.
Another major reason is the lack onf incentive and rewards.
I’m 100% sure it will be permanent. A-net has finally been listening. They are adding more permanent content and revamping the old world with the living story. Tequatl was just the beginning!
I think A-net should have Traehearne corrupted, so we can kill him off.
Bleh. These rewards are so predictable. Not interested in them.
Stuff like this should take days, instead of hours. Back in the days, people used gaming cheats and codes, or used gamepro magazines to progress. Now we have Dulfy. Guides have always been there, but it’s not impossible.
I’ve said it before, but GW2’s main issue is rewards. People want Gear and Items, and i’m not talking about Wings, Backpacks, and Minis. I’m talking about full gear sets, weapon sets with bonuses, awesome guild rewards, etc. GW2 just currently offers back slot items and minis.. zzzz.
edit: oh, and MOUNTS. imagine beating Teq for a “chance” at a mount. That would be worth doing.
I think a problem is that there is currently no other living story content out that people are interested in doing. So everyone is camped in Sparkfly Fen. There just needs to be a reason for people to leave.
P.S. I’m not gonna watch a 30 minute video about someone complaining.
Wooden Potatoes doesn’t really complain in his videos. He offers constructive feedback almost all the time. The only one complaining is you, about his video.
The elitist attitude is out of control. Kicking people because they don’t live up to your standards is ridiculous. If you want a professional group for speed runs, or for easy-mode gameplay, then organize one without random players.
Kicking people because they can’t read the description is ridiculous?
No, read again. I said kicking people for “standards” is ridiculous. By standards, i mean, kicking people because they don’t have certain builds or certain classes.
Re-read the OP’s post. He won’t group with others unless they have an achievement threshold requirement. That’s being elitist.

seriously? more back pieces? wtf is wrong with A-net?
There should be penalties for kicking people. Some players are probably new to the game, and then you get elitists that kick them. You’re only hurting the GW2 community, instead of helping them.
This whole post shows who the elitists are. If you want your perfect elite group, then form your own group without using the tool. The tool is for the public, which means for EVERYONE. Stop trying to impose so many options and restrictions on it.
LFG, must be geared, must have achievements, must wear pink toenail polish, etc.
No thanks.. I just want to queue and have fun.
Back pieces, and minis, are getting annoying now. I’d rather have the future living story rewards be full item sets or something.
No. Open world bosses has always been for GW2.
Oh great. So they make it for limited players, and leave everyone else out. They should’ve had an opt-in signup for active accounts.
It’s been suggested many times for A-net to change the way commaders earn their title, but they refuse to listen or even post about it.
The title should be earned, not bought.
PvE and WvW titles separately.
Earned by achievements possibly.
Is it random for people or is it being rolled out to servers?
The rewards looks awful, especially for the time needed and difficulty required. I’m sick of back slot items.
That would pretty much exclude anyone who doesn’t play in a large guild from doing this content. I’d rather they just make it so that people can actually kill him. As of right now, he has either a) too much HP, or b) too short timer.
Not if they offer both.
Fair point. Something I’ve wondered aswell. I love to do difficult content with a selected group of people who are atleast as motivated as me to progress. It feels a bit random to try and do difficult content with a few hundred randoms who die at every turn and will continue to do so no matter how many times they do the event.
Open-world content is fun, but it’s not fun when the content is too hard for a lot of random players.
Instead of just saying NO, why not list the reasons why you’re against it? I made this post here to discuss the negatives of open-world raids, but if you want to list some positives there, then feel free to.

It’s not fun. It’s just ridiculous.
As we’ve seen from Tequatl..
-lack of coordination
-griefers
-inability to kick griefers
-veterans berating newbies
anything else missing?
Talk about disappointment. I probably won’t even log in now. There’s no point. How could A-net think this is a good idea? Worst idea ever.
I would lol so hard if you were one of the subset that had access, but you never knew it because you were too busy stamping your feet and throwing a tantrum like a toddler, instead of logging in.
You’re missing the point entirely. I’m not here to beta test. I’m here to play with others. It’s ridiculous that they hype up the feature, then limit it to others. It’s a bad way of doing business. Denying access to features is just bad. Look how terrible it was with Overflow servers during Clockwork Chaos, and now with the upcoming Tequatl Rising update.
The only one acting childish is you, by using immature analogies instead of looking at this logically. So please, think before you post next time.

Hell, WoW has a fantastic LFG system and has done for years
(and yes that is the only thing I genuinely like about WoW)And it only happened at the end of the 2nd expansion. I quit wow because of what the lfg did to the community, but thankfully gw2s isn’t an auto group finder / teleport into dungeons.
It might as well though. GW2 already has instant teleportation. The only difference is that you have to manually click the waypoint, then run inside. It would be different if the waypoints weren’t there, but GW2 is so convenient, it doesn’t make sense not to just teleport the whole party inside.
This is a cool idea. Thanks for sharing.
We’re currently discussing ideas on how to “catch people up” with past Living World events to give them context on current events and recent history. The system that’s currently in development will hopefully go a long way in presenting a clearer picture of some of the story content in the game. That stated, having a newspaper is a neat concept.
You could always use the Hero panel. On the tabs, there is one for Personal Story. Might as well use another tab for Living Story.
LFG tool: gonna be a cesspool of bads when it comes to dungeons. People will still use LFG.com instead to find higher quality players.
No need to be denigrating. Not everyone should live up to your expectations of an exceptional player. This is why people stay away from socializing, because of elitists like you.
This patch will bring me back with the LFG tool and WvW changes. I was going to stay away from SAB. I didn’t really like it then, and i won’t like it again.
Nice, I’m excited that we finally get the LFG tool so soon! On another note, I don’t suppose we could suggest making a reference to the creator of gw2lfg in honor of the release of the official LFG tool, could we? I mean, Fohtoh (reddit name) did the game an incredible service in the first year and made finding groups that much more bearable.
So soon? It’s been a year now. /facepalm
Only the addition of Southsun Cove has been “world-changing”. No other major update has. They’ve all been temporary, creating a parallel “living” world alongside the world that was launched.
It should absolutely be temporary.
This theme does not fit the guild wars lore or environment, for it to be permanent.
Asuran technology is just an excuse to justify this being in game. It’s ridiculous and has no place.
Well… it doesn’t really qualify as a dungeon in my opinion, and I don’t think it was really that challenging, but it was enjoyable. And let’s face it, anything beats Canach’s Lair.
ugh. don’t remind us of Canach’s Lair. /shudder
This is actually a good idea. It’s adding more events to the game. So now instead of Dragon and Temple events, we’ll be getting those AND these.
What a good post. Very nice suggestions. It’s too bad arena-net still hasn’t did anything with Commanders. Almost one year later, and it seems like these suggestions are just a waste of time.
zergs suck. This is what’s wrong with GW2’s open-world event system. It’s always been this bad. The AI is just terrible with no strategy required.
They need to make them harder and have people actually die over and over again, until they stop zerging the content, and start using their brains.
Get rid of the timer-event systems, and this will help improve strategy. Otherwise, people feel rushed, so they just spam skills and zerg the content.
A-net needs to tweak their event-system, and give us time to coordinate. Look at how WoW and Rift do open-world bosses. People actually wait before zerging them. They actually coordinate and cooperate. There is none of this in GW2.
An option to toggle it on would be really nice.
- Every map will be invaded at least once per day, probably twice. In some cases, three times.
- Builds do not affect the rotation.
- The rotation is the same across all servers.
- If you play at the same time every day, you will see all 13 maps by the end of the Clockwork Chaos release.
This isn’t correct, since you’re not factoring in Overflow maps.
Hopefully it’s because Anet realizes we all hate him.
Next: Logan.
Haha. I hope so. I can’t stand Logan. He does nothing but whine and cry all the time. A terrible character overall.
Complex..LOL…this is the sesame street of mmo’s
You’re right. Actively dodging, managing cooldowns, switching weapons/skills, is so much easier than tab-target combat, where you stand still repeating rotations, all while eating chips and watching tv.
…oh wait.
Not everyone plays an MMO 24/7 for decades. Some people are new to the genre, and so were most of you.
I’m not a fan of the Living Story, at all. If this is their only means of content distribution, then sadly, i won’t be sticking around.
I’ve mentioned this before. The Living Story rewards are so underwhelming. All we ever get is a one-piece gear item, or some back-piece and a mini.
Where are all the full sets for Living Story content? Or are those for crafting & dungeons only? Kind of sucks if it is.
Living Story is eventually replacing old world content, but not rewarding it in the same way. :/
Almost a year later, and still no change to this.
I want to know why A-net thinks a commander rank should be bought. The only logical reasoning for this, is so people can buy their gold from Trading Post. Am i right?
Since there are WvW ranks now, the rank should be earned .
And the combat in GW2 requires a lot more skill than most other MMORPGs.
The combat does, the encounters don’t.
The most truthful quote ever.
I don’t see Skill in GW2, unless it’s in SPvP. Everything else gets zerged. The AI in GW2 need improving, because right now, they’re just pinatas.
Overflows are killing this event for me. I feel like logging out and not even playing. :/
Agreed. The cutscene was poorly done. Subtitles didn’t match up, and neither did the lips on the characters. My character was even floating when i first started it. I guess this is what happens when you have to rush content every 2 weeks.
blah. no more pregnant royals please. i’ve had enough prince william and kate middleton..
