What map?
15 character limit text
It’s at Shat? Where everyone stands on the rocks off to the side? So Lowland Burns in Blazeridge Steppes?
Could u be more specific? Like, can u add some screnshot of the act, becuse right now I don’t even know where this is happening…
I’ll try to next time.
I’m standing on my favorite place on the rock, lots of other people are around, saying all the nasty things that people say in chat. Just ignore it and try to keep an eye out for tells or group invites and what not.
Next thing I know, I get hit, bounced in the air off my spot, on fire, and end up maybe 2-3 body lengths away? Like being griefed by a Jormag bomb, but it’s not that.
I ‘thought’ once I saw a flaming, targetable small pterodactyl looking thing in the area when it happened as well. Maybe somewhere between a mini pet and Asuran in size?
I stand around there all the time, and the only mobs in the area are the dogs and the electric ball things. There are things that walk up and down an alley ‘behind’ where we stand, and attack roaming guards, but they are pretty far away, and I don’t recall them having attacks like that? I suppose it’s possible someone is kiting mobs over from other places, but it would have to be a pretty far kite.
It happens like 1/10 times I’m there, and when it happens, it happens over and over again, until I ask what is causing that, and then it mysteriously stops and no one says anything about it, which makes me think it’s something that someone figured out how to use to be annoying and no one is talking about it for fear of having it removed from the game. :p
Are you sure you weren’t in Costume Brawl by mistake?
Definitely not. Just standing around with my rifle waiting for kitten.
There is an item that someone is using to bounce people around and light them on fire waiting around for kitten. Whatever it is, it really needs to go.
They should offer a paid service that allows you to submit a screen shot of mix-n-match items you used to wear, let you identify what you’d like to color for the 4 channels, and they re-create it for you.
Very excited for you folks if that’s really what is happening. A little sad I won’t get to see it for any significant time, if it doesn’t hit by the end of the year.
The original outfit system was right. They could have adapted that to the new system. They said it was too difficult, but they just didn’t want to. Quietly killing the gathering shorts and other mix-n-match items in the process.
The human female running and idle animations were originally right, from my perspective. One of the reasons I started playing was how much I liked the character models. Unceremoniously pulled the running animation about 15-16 months in (no explanation given, asked in support tickets repeatedly, and was given the run around), then the idle animations a few months back (because it was inappropriate? subjective.)
They could have kept it right by making the running animation and idle animations (each broken into a separate animation) things that you could apply to your character and enable/disable, either with a new UI or a full makeover kit, and create new running animations and idle animations and sell them in the store. Everyone is happy getting the animations they like, and profit, hard to see what would be wrong with that.
And if they don’t see that as the right thing because of other internal values, positions, agendas, then at least the right thing to do would be to make a formal statement that covers the entire thing, so that we can choose whether or not we share those values, and stay or go based on clear information.
Well, don’t feel bad, this was totally lost on me, and I’m doing lots of the other holiday events every day, just because. Thanks for the heads up.
I think it’s new years eve tomorrow.
I agree with Yargesh.
I can’t agree with all of you, but I can agree with half of you.
1. My running animation back (and new animations for all races).
2. My old idle animations back (with new ones to mix-n-match).
3. My old mix-n-match adventure outfit.
The new areas are beautiful, don’t want to take away from the team(s) that are area building, very nice job indeed creating textures that aren’t in the game yet (though, I’d love more grass and bandits and towns and such ala Queensdale, but that’s one person’s preference).
My angst is solely directed at whoever decided (a year and a half after release, mind you) that they needed to go CleanFlicks on the person that worked on the original models and animations, and whoever came up with some of the old mix-n-match clothing (which was clearly approved and put in the store).
So, yeah, it used to be beautiful.
Yeah, i always so that my issues aren’t with the game itself, but with the company managing it. Theres slot of just, drop-dead gorgeous stuff in GW2. They truly did have a dream team working on the initial development and art direction.
This (is not enough letters, so a sentence).
Used to be more beautiful.
Do you mean when she does her little “la la la la LA LA LA” singing?
I hadn’t thought of it, but I can totally see where that comes to mind.
After having done this for a few weeks, I still like the new system over all. I like only needing to do 3 things to get a full 10 points, and still getting rewarded for picking other things to do, if I choose to (or can’t think of something else to go do on my own, like work on leveling a character or go clear a zone I haven’t with one of my 80s).
Ironically, it has gotten me active in WvW again, which is kinda fun, but I don’t know how ‘useful’ my activity is to anyone else. Ultimately, someone that shows up to just complete an achievement and leave might not be the sort of people that are wanted there. But, I’ll still do one or two here or there if I can find a relatively safe or benign activity or time to do it.
I think that would hold true for Dungeons and Fractals (which are lumped under PvE). I think there’s a lot of people that really wouldn’t want me in their group. I’m not ‘horrible’, but I don’t create my characters using engineering tools or play meta- meta- games to squeeze every last bit of DPS out of me. I make characters I like to spend time with and go put weapons on them that are fun and go have fun.
I think at this point, my only two issues are number of choices for the categories (there should be more options than 4 to complete 3 in a given group), and a desire to see ‘PvE’ broken up as ‘World’ or ‘Open World’ and ‘Dungeons’ (w/ Fractals) or maybe call it ‘Under World’ (and maybe ‘Open World’ can be ‘Over World’).
Would be nice to see rezzing and jumping puzzles back. I’m going to miss them in the monthly. Yes, I can…just go do jumping puzzles, but it doesn’t have the same sense or urgency and excitement as when the month rolls over and I have my ‘list of 15’ that are relatively easy to do, some harder than others, and maybe throw in a harder one now and then to see if I can do it again (at this point, I’ve done them all, needed help on maybe 3-4 of them). Maybe a task to complete 2-3 puzzles for the day.
Also not crazy about how specific the event ones are tied to a specific area, but if there was ‘also’ an option to maybe have to complete 6-8 events ‘in an entire region’ for the day, you could either do the specific one or the more general one.
My toons, but starting in roughly Nov of last year, they keep stripping things about my characters that the original developers created (and were approved) off and making them less and less interesting and appealing, in an effort to, I’m assuming, recruit me to help raise other people’s children?
So, less and less reason for me to login, but still barely enough of my characters left for me to care about them.
I got to use all the names I wanted. I just gave everyone a surname, since the game allows for spaces and multiple caps. I rather like their system because of that.
Well, ‘Look How I Want’, at any rate.
1. Running and walking animations you can apply to your character using a make over kit, like a hair style.
2. Idle animations you can apply (and stack to randomly rotate through) like a finishing move (or make over kit).
3. Submitting requests of old mix-n-match clothing and have them create an outfit out of it (pay for service).
I think what they turned the old khaki shorts into as a tonic was terrible, so I wouldn’t even want that.
If they won’t go back to mix and match, they should let us submit what old mix-n-match pieces we’d like to see turned into an outfit, and make it.
I look at many of my screenshots and realized they can’t be recreated because of the changes to running animation, idle animation and clothing.
Sleeveless hoodie (don’t remember the exact name), khaki shorts (gathering pants I think they were called) and the boots from the witch outfit (which, while not crazy about the bones, were at least a better size than the default town clothing boots, which are too big).
Just go to Hope Falls (the chest right on the poi, not the JP) in Malchor’s Leap. And for the rest, avoid the mobs and bring condition remover and speed boosts if you don’t have speed runes.
Where is this about? Mousing over all the POIs on my map and don’t see anything called Hope Falls?
Edit: NM, found it. There’s a chest right on that POI in the water?
Edit 2 – Edit Lives: Yeah, that worked.

I crafted an exotic inscription and sold it on the TP for 7g
That’s a good one, hadn’t thought I could make something that would sell decent.
Wanze posted it yesterday.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-Tonic-Snowflake-Mystic-Forge-Recipe/first#post46371534 of each of consumable tonic type and 2 mystic coins
Well then I’m confused, because I it lets me d-click on any combination of 3 tonics to put them in the forge, and as soon as the 3rd one is in, it grays out the other tonics.
And I had a stack of 250 mystic coins in my bag during my test, and it grayed those out.
So I guess I’m doing something wrong?
Sometimes it bugs out. Try putting in the coins first, or putting them in anyway.
Happens with core promotion sometimes as well.
Awesome, that worked, thank you.
After I did the coins first on the first try, now they show up as available putting them in last on subsequent tries.
Kinda scary that the ‘one’ method of discovering if something will work in the forge – seeing that it will – isn’t reliable.

So I see in the patch notes the forge takes tonics now, and they have a sell value.
I see that the forge will take any pairing of 3.
Has anyone figured out what the 4th is?
It’s not:
Mystic Coin
Any type of snowflake
Philosopher’s Stone
Mystic Forge Stone
Ectos
Luck, if you have it. The highest quality consumable is masterwork quality, unfortunately.
It was mentioned in another thread that ascended materials also count. Like refining bloodstone bricks or making a deldrimor steel ingot.
I suppose you could also make a weapon or piece of armor and sell it, if you wanted to.
Good to know about ascended mats, that’s also a good choice.
I keep forgetting about Luck! Thanks!
I notice I ‘can’ put the first ornament in the forge though. Is that just going to do one of those melts where you put in 4 and get out 1 of the same thing and maybe an exotic?
I have all the professions. I was hoping there was some food, as that would be useful to eat, but didn’t see anything labeled as (exotic) (though admittedly, I probably have a very small percentage of cooking recipes discovered).
I don’t really ‘need’ anything for anyone. I suppose I could make a back pack to unlock a skin I haven’t yet, and then bank the back piece until another character turns 80?
Or, I suppose I could make something and salvage it in the hopes of getting an ascended mat?
Just looking for any ideas of things I might make that might be useful in some other way other than just crafting it to get the daily done. Something I’m not considering. Like my question about “what to buy with karma” that produced some really awesome results of things I hadn’t considered.
Just salvage them for ectos
Ok, thanks.
They go into the collection, and I’m still working on it, but very much looking forward to the two things at the end.
But the items themselves, only being rare, I always put a new 80 in exotics, or left over ascended my main might not be using any more (provided the item fits the build). Is there anything useful to do with them besides melting for ectos?
Is there a mystic forge recipe that upgrades them to exotic?
I wonder if any of these non-JP chests count?
Voted for The Secret World, just like you asked!
I might vote for them too. They made the right decision way back when to make give us two versions of the Rogue Mechanic shorts after trying to change it to ‘match the picture’ with the ugly, ripped stockings when many of us bought the item based on the preview with no stockings, just shorts. In the end, choices and options for both sides.
I can vote for that.
Thanks for the heads up.
Don’t get me wrong, I still very much love this game. But it’s that one thing. Well, it’s three things that are about one thing, though they won’t admit it or talk about it, and the admitting it part, it’s really annoying. If that’s what they want to do and they want to force feed us that, that’s fine, but just own it.
Maybe he saw a woman stretching or putting her hands on her hips?
It’s not always about healthy and appropriate. Sometimes it’s about safety.
:|
At the risk of it being mentioned in the patch notes, is there any way to open both the daily quest UI choices and the daily login (to mouse over upcoming rewards) other than the first time you login each day?
Where does that gift come from?
Looked it up on the wiki, that’s nice (won’t get mine until tomorrow).
Have they introduced a Dragonite eater that I might have missed? I already have Mawdrey II for Bloodstone.
I use the -useOldFoV switch, as a point of reference.
For close to the past month, my characters seem further away from the camera on the ‘first mouse wheel notch back’ from totally zoomed in.
On a suggestion note, we really need more fine movements per click between totally zoomed in and totally zoomed out. Perhaps a slider in settings that lets us control ‘distance per roll’ of the mouse wheel, which wouldn’t effect the min and max settings now, but rather how far the camera moves between min and max each time you roll the wheel.
To those who still cling to their whiny ways, I’d like for you to think about something:
Think about the various groups of players, what they enjoy and so on. I’ll give you some examples: PvPers, WvWers, Puzzle Jumpers!, Sit-around-LA-and-chatters, Dungeon Runners, and of course, yourselves, casual wander-around-the-mappers. How did these various groups fair under the old system? How do they fair under the new system?
Once you’ve given that some thought, is the tiny (and yes, requiring a 5 minute investment of your time is TINY) possible rise in the effort required of you not worth the massive benefit towards the more marginalized groups?
I think you (and some white knights blindly defending this) miss the issue. People could come in in before and get their dailies done with very little effort by doing what they wanted to do. Now they are being forced into other maps and get forced to do things they otherwise wouldn’t. It was enjoyable before/ now it isn’t.
Which people?
AP Hunters? Nope.
PvPers? Nope.
WvWers? Nope.
Puzzle Jumpers? Nope.
La-Chatters? Nope.
Dungeon Runners? Nope.
There was only one group of people doing what you describe, the casual wander around the map aimlessly people. And for those people, it’s just a 5 minute or so increase on their time doing other things if they are unwilling to try new things. For all the other groups, they were already having to wander outside of their preferred zones, sometimes for several hours (In the case of AP hunters).
Yeah, it doesn’t seem bad at all. If I don’t feel like working on one of my low level characters, I will usually just login and do 6 world bosses I enjoy and get dailies done while I’m doing them and the ‘in between’ times, as I don’t do ‘every’ boss and ‘usually’ have a full half hour between bosses (save the FE/Shat/Wurm string that will sometimes pop up).
Today, I ran East after kitten and picked up a vista with my Warrior. Before SB, my Thief found a few trees to log. And I wasn’t super excited about doing events in Silverwastes, so I popped into WvW with my main (Elementalist) and went and took a sentry, which I haven’t done in probably over a year, and it was kinda fun.
So really my only wee bit of sadness is just wanting more variety per category. Hopefully, they twist in some variations on the old ones, too. Like, underwater fighting, which I kinda enjoy, but don’t really have any reason to ‘nudge’ me to do that (unless I’m doing the old Champ train in FG), save that old underwater daily.
But at least in my case, doing my favorite 6 world bosses each day, it seems like it won’t be a huge change, as those are scattered about the world and hopefully there will be something to do in each of those areas.
I will miss the 12-15 puzzles I set aside as ‘relatively easy’ and doing those each month. Yes, I could go and do them whenever I want, but I’m just a ‘To Do’ list type person, and if no one points me in that direction, I might not otherwise do it. Maybe they’ll add a daily option at some point that is to do a puzzle in a certain region (like Ascalon, or something like that).
Summary: Too soon to tell, but probably needs more choices per category each day.
look up. . .
ok as clever as i feel like sounding right now.. wherever there is ‘magic snow’ in tyria you will be able to spot it immediately by looking upward, as there will be magichanical snow dispensers hovering there
I will try that. And in the event you are pulling my leg and don’t hear from you again, I will assume the follow up was: Made you look.
Santa “RNG” Claus will make many people angry this christmas.
He is a very evil entity in GW2.
RNGdeer! :p
He is at the Grove today. I just did my bit there before I answered your first post.
That’s totally weird because when I was looking to do it earlier, he wasn’t there that I saw.
But thanks, and at any rate, I guess everything is fine.
Thanks.
Seems like the hint means nothing, and he’s still in BC (unless BC is actually made of flowers, and this is the jumping off point for the next chapter in the LS?). And, starting on Day 2, I can do both Day 1 and Day 2 from the guide to catch up.
Skip Dulfy. Just follow the hint. There are no flowers in the Black Citadel, so no reason to go there. If today is the first day you try it, it’ll be the first day. It’ll mean you’ll get your reward a day later than the ones that started it yesterday.
Except the hint didn’t do anything for me. I assumed the ‘made of flowers’ meant I’d find someone to talk to in The Grove, but there wasn’t anyone there, at least no one with an icon.
So I went to BC, where the guide said to go, and there was an icon and someone to talk to. I was able to follow the guide through to getting the second ‘soup’ (or whatever that is), but the fellow won’t eat it until tomorrow, it would seem, so I hung on to it.
So, all very strange to me. The hint doesn’t seem to really mean anything, and, for better or worse, the Dulfy information, while off on the hint, at least got me to a point.
Maybe the hint is bugged?
Thanks, I’ll go look some more!
I’ve made 3 snow men.
I found one by the bank and two on the dolyak defense route.
I can’t find any more snow.
Is there any sort of snow map to finding snow to make the snow men?
Thanks.

I’d ask here , but they never respond to me there, so I’m going to try here.
The day 1 guide screen shots has a hint that I don’t have today. Some of Dulfy’s comments elude to the fact that today should be ‘day 1’ for me, since I didn’t do anything yesterday, yet my hint isn’t the same?
So I don’t really understand what I need to do.
And how many ‘days’ is it going to be? This will, theoretically, last a month until the next LS update? Is it 5 days? 10 days? Do I need to play every day and do a step? I missed yesterday, and my hint doesn’t match, am I SOL?
Today’s hint is a place made of flowers. I assumed that meant to go to The Grove to do something, not go visit a Charr? :|
Too soon to tell. I think each category needs more variety, and I think they’ll do that over time.
I didn’t feel like going to Silverwastes for 4 events (after doing 6 world bosses I like to do each day, which always used to get the dailies done for me, either by directly doing them or things around/near them), so I went to WvW and killed a sentry and secured the spot. Hadn’t done that in a really long time. That was fun.
