Some of us don’t like the garbage they call Edge of the Mists and would not step foot there.
Hmmmm… well i usually get Mel, Grenth and Arah early morning before i go to work. Between 6-7:15 a.m. Pacific Standard time. You can get tons of loot from the mobs. I find Melandru temple best in this regard but you have to do the whole pre-event part at the beacons. Good luck! I’m pretty sure there’s a timer out there but i don’t use it since i don’t need to.
When I was farming grawl for large skulls, I got quite a bit of silk. They drop a salvageable pelt that often yields silk, as well as bags that contain silk. I also got a few rare weapons, tier 5 totems and bones. I farmed them in the southern part of frostgorge for about 30 minutes at a time using whatever magic find buffs I could get. I don’t have exact numbers, but I ended up with a nice amount of materials each session.
Mmmm good luck farming grawl now. They were nerfed. No farming allowed.
What do you mean? Source please. (I assume he was talking here about the grawl near the Jormag site between Earthshake waypoint and Slough of Despond waypoint).
Personal experience. Yes, those are the grawl I’m talking about. I used to get decent drops there but I was there this week after a long time not farming there. Got nothing but trophy clumps of fur/vendor trash. Not anything useful. I asked in map chat if it had been nerfed and was told it had been some time ago, but of course, I can’t confirm. However, do keep in mind that ANet does the “stealth nerf” on occassion – and that’s not tin foil hat stuff. Drop in champ box coin is one perfect example. They never said it was happening, then people noticed the drop and posted in the forums and ANet was all “oops, did we forget to mention that??!!! Our bad!!”
I won’t be going there again, since it seems a complete waste of time now.
I don’t have the link to the blix discussion. Try using the broken search feature and maybe you’ll find it. I know other forum-goers have posted the link in other threads.
Failing an event is not griefing. I can honestly say I’ve seen more vehement words thrown around by those purposefully trolling the farmers than I have from the farmers themselves. Both sides have been rude. I have not been rude to anyone in game. Never have, never will. I don’t really care what you think is “right” or “wrong”, but people should stop stating things they do no know.
I never justified anything. I simply stated, for the record, AGAIN, that failing an event is not griefing. Being rude or spouting explitives at players, for ANY reason, is an offense of the terms of the game, and can be reported. It makes no difference which side of the fence you’re on.
Stop making arguments with me based on words people keep adding to my actual TYPED WORDS. Don’t “read between the lines” or any nonsense such as that. Don’t explicate based on the fabricated extra words you think I meant. Just take what I write at face value.

Think about it please- champ bags are in the game for a reason – and that reason is that before they were put in there was no reason to kill a champion and people never did it.
We should be killing them for fun. Just like mapping the world for the 18th time and unlocking the same traits on all your alts – for fun and lolz.
Well we all knew this thread was coming, did we not?
Please take all loot out of the game. Loot causes toxicity. Thank you for hearing my plea. And I reiterate that bunnies need to be taken out also.
I’m starting to really …. dislike…… this game and its players. It’s gone from fun to just constant nerfs, fighting, name calling, farming, TP wars/monopolies, and “fixes” that break the game (I’m looking at you traits). GG what a mess this game is now.
I mean it. Take ALL loot out of the game, so we can all just play “for fun” and to look fabulous. Then let’s see how many players are left next year, shall we?
I suggest they take all events out of the game. And loot. Thank you for hearing my suggestion. All events where there are people are toxic. People disagree on everything in this game. Dungeons are bad, too, because people fight over what constitutes exploits in those places as well. Please get rid of dungeons. World events like triple wurm create toxicity because when you choose to do what you feel like instead of listening to commanders, you get berated. Also take out bunnies. I think they are following me around just to taunt me. They make me feel bad. Also Edge of the Mists is horrible. People fight there all the time and tell others they play wrong. Please remove it. And regular world vs world should not contain fighting so everyone can get all the POIs and Vistas for world complete without any griefing, like being killed by enemies. Thank you ANet for listening to my post. Have a nice day
Resubian is right. Anyone who is purposefully rude should be ashamed of themselves. Whether you agree with farming or not is beside the point. All the people who cause grief to others will just move around maps and continue on doing the same thing, because for some sick reason, that’s what you find enjoyable in the game. Have fun boys and girls!
Farm events in Cursed Shore and salvage everything. I do temples every day and a few others and i end up with lots of silk. I find cotton and wool hard to come by since i’m always in high level zones.
Harathi Hinterlands for cotton and linen.
Gendarran Fields for wool and cotton. In both cases you’re going to want to do events that spawn a ton of Centaurs because the bags they drop are laden with fabrics.
I think I’m better off farming CS and selling all my stuff and buying the cotton and wool. I’m bored to death of low level areas where it’s hard to find any loot. But ty for the suggestions.
Sinope, ANet has said in the thread on Blix, that intentionally failing events is a playstyle. Both sides are wrong where griefers exist, whether that be calling people names for trying to succeed, or intentionally succeeding events where the only reason it’s being done is to disrupt farming. BOTH are wrong. BOTH. ANet has said that failing is not an exploit. The mechanics of events are just configured wrong when events start too fast after failure. AND, after all the different episodes of players fighting over this GARBAGE, you’d think ANet would maybe be PROACTIVE for once and look at all these things and fix them BEFORE they get to this point? How about that? Hmmmm? Crazy, I know.
My point still stands. You should not get abused for wanting to complete an event.
I absolutely agree. You should not. But you also should not feel the need to complete an event just to make people mad.
As I’ve said before the event is being completed to help out people to complete their living story. Something you chose to ignore. No matter how much you try to twist it, that fact will not change.
I’m not twisting anything. It is a fact you complete it on one server, and them search for another to complete it. It is a fact that you are disrupting farms on purpose. If you really want to help. Choose 1 Server. Keep it farmfree. Taxi in people. Build contacts to farmers. Let them redirect people to you. Treat >everyone< with respect.
And Laurelinde, I couldn’t agree more with you.
It also hurts me to see the cause of helpin players being abused for deliberately taking other players fun.
Nia, you nailed it dead on.
Harassment is griefing, on either side. Simply failing the event is not griefing. All the QQ about this is pathetic, TBH. It takes maybe 4 people to succeed the event. People need to stop whining and just go do it if they need it. If you get called names, report those people. It is not rocket science. Srsly.

Don’t listen to Silvercyclone. What Vayne says is much more accurate. There are ways you can do the living story achievement – like guesting to different servers or joining a party on a map that isn’t farming the event. Failing the event is not griefing. It is one of two possible outcomes which is allowed by the game.
All arguments about doing the LS can be flipped around for the farming mobs..
in fact; farming can be done on a lot of other places..LS cannot.
So guesting on another server for farming should be more reasonable then for the LS IMO
Well that’s obvious, isn’kitten Every server isn’t farming just as every server isn’t competing the event. You may have to search servers out no matter which group you choose to join.
Bikinis and speedos. Sweet. Thumbs up.
O-o
Some peoplez gots no senses ’o humor.
I reiterate, that failing an event is not griefing. Period.
Do not put words in my mouth. I said failing is not griefing. Period. It is one of two possible outcomes. Period. Do not infer any more than that.
I didn’t infer anything.
Failing the event is not griefing.
That is an untrue statement.
Intent makes the difference. If you intentionally fail and event, you in fact are griefing when it prevents someoen from an achievement or progression of any kind. In my personal opinion, you infer you support intentional failing at the cost of another player, when you suggest said other player should find another server or map.
You ARE inferring. And you keep adding to my statements, which makes it look like you’re griefing me.
Do not put words in my mouth. I said failing is not griefing. Period. It is one of two possible outcomes. Period. Do not infer any more than that.
I agree Brother Grimm. There always seems to be a huge fight between two groups, for no real reason. Haters gonna hate.
I have said it before recently, and I’ll say it again. ANet either needs to fix the event so it can’t be farmed, or they need to remove this from the personal story. ANet broke it. They need to come up with a remedy.
Well to start with basics, make sure you know what color you are, which may change every Friday at reset time (I say may because sometimes you will end up the same color for several weeks in a row).
What server are you on? Perhaps someone from your server can go with you and show you around? I’d be happy to help you in game if you’re on Isle of Janthir
To perhaps answer your OP, if you’re interested in trying out the farm, just follow the crowd. At the end, let the bad guys win. Get into a party or you won’t do enough damage for credit. Watch the /say chat so you know what to do or what not to do.
Sometimes people come to purposefully wreck the farm. They are not helping anyone finish the personal story. They’re there by themselves. When the farm gets wrecked, go do something different. No biggie.
Just buy another rune. The extractor is not worth it. Trust someone who wasted the gems once to use the extractor. At this point I just re-buy. Yes, it sucks, but since ANet is gouging on price, what else can you do?

Another alternative solution for unlocking traits could be to have Adept and Master level traits attached to specific Renown Hearts across the map. Grandmaster level traits could be tied to specific Elite or Champion boss enemies in level 60+ zones that are not attached to any dynamic events.
This could be a less frustrating way of getting players to naturally gain new traits as they explore the map while harking back to GW1’s skill quests and elite capping from bosses. And as usual, offer a way of just buying the traits outright (minus the skill point cost, please).
You do realize, I hope, that this penalizes people whose play style does not include PVE? Making people do things they do not like doing is not exactly the way to go if you want to keep players playing (and paying).
That is what was so great about the old system. All you needed to do, was buy a trait book ever x levels, after which you could experiment at will.
Yes, exactly. No one should be forced to play content to get all the regular traits. This isn’t some stupid back piece we’re talking about. It’s traits – a core piece of our builds. This fiasco has got to be fixed. C’MON ANET. Stop. Dragging. Your. Feet.
But again, once you’ve done it once or twice ot nine times why should we be forced to do it again…and again… and again? There must be a better way.
I’m just going to apologize for mis-information. I hadn’t done Jormag for a while but did it today and I did receive a champ box from one of the champs during the 2nd phase. I stand corrected.
Anyway, to me that’s beside the point because there were so many people there I don’t think 1) it ever has a chance of failing and 2) if 20 farmers peel off to kill champs… well, see 1).
From the wiki on precurors:
The Mystic Forge is a primary source for precursor weapons due to the refinement that allows players to mix together equipment for a chance at better quality equipment. Players have a chance to receive a precursor weapon when combining four rare or exotic pieces of equipment with an average level of 75 or higher. One or more of these items must be a weapon, with four weapons of the same weapon type guarantee receiving a weapon with that weapon type. For example, players can combine one level 60 rare weapon and three level 80 weapons or three level 75 pieces of armor and a level 75 weapon.
Rose The Immortal, now level 80 and rockin’ the Chaos weapon skins in Frostgorge Sound.
I’m correct because it has happened to me within the last month. Level 80 rares, 3 weapons, 1 armor. Please do not call me a liar. It’s my only precursor and I know exactly how I got it, thank you.
You can’t combine weapons and armor in the forge. A Mystic Stone at best.
Yes, you can. I did it and got the Lover. Total truth.
My bad. I’ve always just salvaged them or sold immediately and didn’t think it worked from experience of only trying with exotics. GZ on the hecka lucky gamble then. Those odds are astronomically low considering the amount of rares or exotics you could possibly recieve.
Ya, I know right? I’ve never gotten that lucky again, unfortunately. But hey, it happened once so I’m very thankful. I’ve never used the forge with exotics. Too rich for me! I had talked to another player a long time ago that also got a precursor with random rares of weapons and armor so I thought I’d give it a shot.
I will just tell a little story that I hope ANet can take a lesson from.
I work in an accounting firm. Right after tax season we were told that we were getting a new computer system to track our time and billing. The admin staff were given weeks of training so they could help teach the rest of us noobs. The company who made the program sent in people to give us days worth of training. We used the system for about a month before realizing it was much worse than the previous system. Our firm owners owned up to this and announced they made a mistake to implement the system and had decided to uninstall it and go back to the old one.
Every person in the office cheered. We now call it the program that will not be named. We ALL had 100% respect for the owners for accepting they made a mistake and then for fixing it FAST. I’m sure they spent tens of thousands of dollars, at a minimum. Yet they sucked it up and made the right call.
So…… seriously. What the hell is up?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t get at least part of their investment back because the system didn’t live up to what was promised.
ANet, on the other hand, will recover NOTHING of the money they’ve invested into this system.
Regardless of the cost of the system itself, the firm spent a lot of money and time getting the system set up. Those are sunk costs, and it wasn’t cheap. My point is that even though it cost money and time, they admitted the mistake and fixed it right away. ANet, on the other hand, seems to refuse to even really acknowledge their mistake on the trait system, and are dragging their heels on fixing it beyond all reasonability.
You can’t combine weapons and armor in the forge. A Mystic Stone at best.
Yes, you can. I did it and got the Lover. Total truth.
I don’t think either of those things makes a difference. I got one precursor from the forge from throwing 4 random level 80 rares in there, including 3 weapons and 1 piece of armor. I think they all had crappy sigils/runes because I either looted them in game or bought the cheapest ones off the TP. I think if you’re lucky, you’re lucky. The rate is so abysmally low that none of that other stuff means anything.
I will just tell a little story that I hope ANet can take a lesson from.

Hey Leo, thanks for the reality check
I’m having a bad day, as probably anyone can see by all the posts I’ve made today LOL. I need to take a breath and let it go.
Anyway, I would really appreciate some sort of NPC-led tutorial about combos. If this is something you actually have to go to, rather than something all players are forced to do, I think that would be best. That way, vets don’t need to do it if they don’t want to or if they already know everything. But maybe a popup stating “hey, combos are a thing, visit Mr. Combo Magic in LA to find out how to use them” would not be over the top?
Well depends on what I’m doing.
While I was getting my map completion, and totally on my own, if I ran past lone enemy players I would stop up and if they attacked, then I would engage and fight, but otherwise, if we both just stood there waiting, I’d just continue on, and so would they.
If I’m with my guild/group and we’re taking objectives on the map, we will kill all red players, regardless of what their intention might be.
I don’t understand peoples’ need to put down other players because we find a concept somewhat hard to grasp by reading about it. I guess we are all just dumb morons in your eyes. I see where the toxicity of the playerbase lies.
I have no issue with making this more accessible, but 5 events a week is just … crazy. I actually like that they used “events” rather than stating specific things you have to do because otherwise you might be stuck doing things that don’t help at the times when you’re on. BUT, c’mon… how about 50 events a week, or even 25-30? 5 is just not enough. I also agree I will never use the title from this seasons at it seems more useless than the “golden” title.
ANet could seriously use a combo tutorial. I’ve played for these 2 years but mostly solo or with one other. I still know little about combos and how to do them.
Profession specific NPCs that can lay down combo fields for players to interact with would be ideal to teach what they look like, how to interact with them and what the interactions look like.
I like your suggestion of NPCs that can actually SHOW you what it looks like when someone puts down a combo field. I’m one of those people that doesn’t really get much out of reading about these combos. I really don’t get what this will look like, so how do I know when I need to use finisher? I’m sure that knowing WHEN to use your own fields/finishers would be something really useful to players. How about that ANet?? Hmmmmm? I’m sure even those with lower brain functions can dodge and press 1. How about some lessons on combos; something that is actually needed in this game??
People should just stop doing ALL events in this game. Seemingly no one plays correctly and all players are just leeching money grubbers who contribute nothing.
@ fellyn….They stated such when there was a HUGE discussion on the Blix farm. Sorry, not sure where the thread is in here, but I’m sure you can find it.
Also, Blix was not nerfed, nor was Coil. Both had the event timers adjusted, that is all.
Just because you think it’s a nono does not mean ANet agrees with you.
Is that why they did change the arah event chain then? That happened a solid year ago.
And the changes to timers were in fact to reduce how effective it is to fail events.
I’m not sure why you feel the need to argue. ANet stated failing events is not “against the rules”. Maybe how players use the event isn’t as intended, so they try to compensate. Does not mean NERF. Stop arguing on semantics for no reason. I have no idea what happened with Arah a YEAR ago. I’m talking about the current events that this thread is about.
But ANet never changes what really needs to be changed. They re-tool the timers rather than reward higher for completion. The REAL problems never get fixed. And the fix does not need to be nerfs to champs or nerfs to loot. Simply make success reward as good or better than failure. I still can’t even believe that the PS is tied to such an event! Silly in the extreme.
So uh… can we get the developer to come back and give us an update on this? That would be really appreciated. Whether that be “it’s taking a while, just be patient”, or “you know, we looked at it and tough, you’re stuck with the new system”.
Many many players are either not playing now or have toons or slots sitting there, waiting… and waiting… and waiting… for some news on this. So, what’s happening?
I noticed the change to default of max amount this morning. I like this very much. Thank you.
I don’t think you would find one player that would not want more/new armors. Especially veterans. After 2000 hours I am so tired of all the standard armors…it’s just sad. I would love to see way more added both in game as drops/rewards and in the gem shop.
All I see is a bunch of QQ’ing.
“I don’t want to run around EB or a BL and grab POIs and vistas”
“I don’t do dungeons, so I can’t earn tokens”
If you poor lazy folks can’t manage to complete some really simple content in order to work towards a greater goal, then you don’t deserve to ever craft a legendary.
Also, someone mentioned a pvp requirement being added, I think that’s a great idea! Making a legendary should require participation in all areas of the game.
I’ll add in that they should also require people to hit a high fractal level – I think 50 would be great. You would sure see a lot less people wielding legendaries that’s for sure.
Uuuuhhhh… I said I was glad there was NO actual PvP requirement LOL.
I think the legendary has to be at a “place” where it’s still attainable for people. Many people (i.e. most) will never have even the time to do fractals, much less to level 50. As far as I know, they take a lot of time to complete, plus you then need ascended and agony and all that stuff, which is truly just out of reach for most of the player base. If ANet puts the main goal of the game out of reach of, say, 80% of its players, then they will lose players. A lot of them. Legendaries should be tough, not impossible.
I’ve got all my dark matter from salvaging random exotics that I’ve gotten as drops, worth less than 2g. I have never purchased an exo to salvage it. I hate crafting, so… ya.
