I think it ‘s probably related to a rich flipper who buys them all at 3c and sells them all back at 30c. It’s simple math really, yes?
The ones crying about the Blix “exploit” are the arrogant rich players who want to keep their dominance. They have exploited enough previous events to last them for years, but god forbid the little man tries to come close.
Just pathetic nerds thinking purposely finishing the event, leaving over a hundred players waiting for another one, is somehow related to “justice”.
You’re completely wrong.
I`m not even close to be a rich player, but I hate this atmosphere farming brings about, and not just this stupid event, all of Orr. I can’t tell you how many time some mindless idiot has dragged a mob of 5+ enemies on me while gathering their precious resources.
Maybe an MMO is not for you. You seem to pretty much hate what this game was made for.
Uh not even close. Did you actually read what I wrote? I;m talking about mindless farming. I take it your one of those. Nice.
You call other players “mindless idiots” so excuse me if I assumed you don’t play well with others.
I also fully support this request.
Yes. Based on our feedback, ANet is scrapping the original proposal of “300g for extra colours” and giving all Commanders, even old ones, free access to the 4 colours.
I bought my Commander tag last night.
Do you have a link for the change? If this is true I might go ahead and get a tag, even though I probably won’t use it for a while.
So people acted like jerks and now their toys got taken away. I’d say “serves ’em right,” but people almost never change.
Yes, jerks on BOTH SIDES of the equation here. But as I’ve stated, jerks are jerks, no matter what the situation. They just move to the next area to be jerks. This has nothing to do with the Blix event, really. It has to do with rude players being rude. However, when you have one large group of players with couple (NOT ALL) rude people, and the “white knights” also being rude, then it gets out of control, fast. This is not the fault of the farmers. It’s the culmination of two SMALL groups with opposing opinions hurling insults at each other. This is something that I believe most farmers/players do not do.
Better be careful with this fixes. Anet continuosly nerf drop, nerf rewards, nerf loot… We are earning every day less money/drops than the previous and the prices continue to rise.
1g = 5 gems (WTF, a year ago 1g = 100 gems)
But this is the gemstore, i can stand it
62s = 1 powerful vial of blood (5 months ago 28s = 1 powerful vial of blood)
1300g Spark (march 2014 525g = spark. April 2014 715g = spark)The prices are rising of more than 100% and the loot and rewards are getting worse and worse.
The ridicolous thing is that fail events and repeat them is more rewarding that succed in them.agree….most events simply aren’t worth doing from a gold-time efficiency standpoint.
outside of a large group doing dwayna and melandru chains, or small group doing the Frostgorge champ train, there aren’t really any events more rewarding than just killing mobs and mining nodes.events really shouldn’t be more rewarding to fail than win….i’m just not sure how to fix this outside of more high-level “defend an area events” that spawn champs and/or tons of loot-dropping mobs. that way, increasing the respawn of failing events doesn’t kill the farmer….they just move on to the next “rewarding” event.
What are we? Efficiency experts or heroes?
once you do an event a few times, the fun/novelty wares out…even with very fun events with different mechanics, you eventually learn them.
so once its no longer fun/challenging, why play the event?……profit….which is how we earn the only end-game rewards (aesthetics).
If you are so bored that you have to exploit, its time to take a break.
Cutting corners will only tire you out faster, and we’d rather not suffer for your laziness and boredom.
Yes, I see you don’t cut corners with handing out name calling and vitriol. Good on ya.
Well I think Chris wins the day for putting things into perspective.

Yes, yes, exploring, the first time is super fun in this game. However, when you’ve been to the same places 200 times, it is not longer fun in and of itself. Many people are leveling for the first time, and I agree they should go see the world and have fun, though XP is not given out enough, IMO, as it takes way too long to level. Anyway, for those leveling their alts, exploring is boring. Period. You can’t explore the same area over and over and over. That’s a conundrum right there, as exploration, by definition, means finding new areas. After one toon with world completion, there is no such thing as exploring.Speak for yourself! I’ve done five 100% map completions and am on 90% for the sixth and I still enjoy the heck out of it. Even after all this time I still sometimes stumble on an event I’ve never seen before, or wander in some little hidden cranny, enjoy the sights, laugh at some random ambient NPC dialog (my favorite atm is the quaggan in the underwater tunner in Snowden that judges you very hard). Counts as exploring to me
You just explored wrong the first 5 times then
/endsarcasm… points to Blix thread —-——>
Ah yes. Compare one zerg being belligerent to people who are off doing their own thing to a pack of exploiters getting kittened that someone is interfering with their cheating. Good syllogism there.
You don’t see the connection? Need glasses?
Better nerf Teq. Can’t have toxicity. Can’t have some people playing how they want and having others tell them not to…….. We must cater to those that are RIGHT in that the way the play is the RIGHT way. And you are all losers/bannable/vermin for not agreeing.
/endsarcasm… points to Blix thread —-——>

Yes, I notice no one commented on my fact that ANet DOES design things to be failed, so 99% of arguments here are out the window. I’m glad at least one other person sees the problem here.
Just get your wallet out and buy gems, convert to gold, and craft your way to 80. In the end, that’s really what ANet wants you to do, since exploration in this game provides practically zero rewards, heart quest rewards are worse than pathetic, and event rewards are even worse.
I enjoy exploring for the sake of exploring. Anyone who needs artificial rewards for exploration do not truly enjoy exploration. There are a lot of cool things and places to find in GW2.
Besides, this simply isn’t true to begin with. Map completion is required for legendaries, which is a pretty massive reward. There is also plenty of EXP gotten from exploration and completing maps, as well as items that help new players quite a bit with leveling up. Not to mention transmutation charges, which are nice for people who don’t want to spend gems on it.

I honestly think that I will be quitting the game should nothing happen in this regard in the September feature pack. Sad, considering I have accumulated a ton of stuff in this game. Well, some of my guildies will get very rich if I leave!
So far, I have my norn ranger to level 32. I have not, and will not, attempt to get any traits for her until level 80. But I have to say, that map completion for the 3rd time is so repetitive, boring, unrewarding… I’ll be surprised if I get to level 40 before I just quit.

Someone at the Melandru temple today calling someone the “c” word, not even sure what for… maybe something about using a staff on some class.
Also, all the nerfs by ANet in this game. I’ll be waiting for the new Dragon Age game to come out in November (I don’t know if MMO genre is for me as everyone complains they’re all like this). I’m pretty tired of the grind fest this game is. And LS is the worst offender. I can’t even bring myself to finish the LS garbage due to the grind to get anything of value out of it. Dry Top is boring beyond all get out. I’d rather poke my eyes out with a fork than go there.
People who think they are white knights…will feel it most when prices go up on the AH :P
PS. Never exploited this. But after reading all the posts here the biggest QQ kids around here are the ppl trolling inside the circle honestly…specially after seeing how highly they think of themselves after doing it. Correct way was to just open a topic….report the bug and that’s it.
Anyway… get ready for prices to go up haha
@Anet u make a game in which everything at endgame depends on how rich u are but most players are poor and/or can’t honestly make enough money (playing normal hours/day) to enjoy the game at end-game without farming like a bot and expect people to be nontoxic when they find a way to work together in order to make a bit of gold.
This all falls on your shoulders and your decision to make everything in this game require more grinding for basically anything, then korean mmos. The only reason i don’t report exploits like these is because of the biblical grindfest this game has become and u basicly deserve your game to be exploited in such ways, atleast until u learn a hard lesson. Not to mention the last Living Story updates which could have easily be renamed into Lumberjack Simulator 2014.
You hit the nail on the head there. So true.
I agree with the OP that there should be more ways to gain XP. I’m currently leveling an alt and I find it extremely tedious to try and level, for starters. Add to that, that I can complete an entire map and still be 5 levels short of moving on to the next level map, which is just wrong, IMO. I shouldn’t have to craft (and bore myself to tears) or pull out some tomes of knowledge to level up. BTW, I use killstreak boosters, XP boosters, and food that gives extra XP, and I’m still 5 levels short at map completion. This seems broken.
Well just to ask the question because it’s there in muh head…. are not one or two traits acquired by purposefully failing events? If so, does this not fly in the face of all those saying that ANet intends for you to be successful at everything?
I suggest getting into the mesmer subforum and checking out builds specific to what you’re doing in WvW. Are you running with the zerg? Are you roaming alone or with a small group? In this environment, everything you do and have is important. What trinkets are you using? Are you condition based or power based? Lots of things to know. Just saying “I have exotics” means nothing if your total build, including armor, weapons, sigils, runes, skills, trinkets, traits, food, etc, don’t synergize and work well together. There is so much more to playing against another player than there is in beating down on an NPC. Once you have a good build locked down, you may also find it helpful to go to the PvP area and at the least do some PvP against the trainers there, or if you feel braver, go on into some real PvP matches to improve your skills.
OK Vayne, I get what you’re saying. Thanks for clearing it up for me
You found the one event chain in the game the farmers exploit. That’s what you found. There are people zerging, there are people not zerging.
I’m not sure why it would surprise anyone that some people play just to get rich no matter how they do it. The easiest way possible preferably.
But that’s only a small percentage of the playerbase.
I think one or two people in my guild do that, out of 150.
Let’s not mention the fact that doing the same content over and over and over for 2 years gets a little boring. If someone is going to be doing something mindlessly out of boredom, might they not at least want to make a little profit?
With many people having many, many level 80 characters and world completion many times over, I don’t doubt that at this point, they want to at least just make some gold to feel like their time in game is worthwhile.
Just my thoughts, my opinions. I’m not saying that should be the only thing they do, I’m just trying to explain why some people might play this way.
A lot of people were in the new zone… not sure now though.
As far as zerging goes, yeah. Maybe it will change a little with the new profession balancing. idk
How would profession balancing fix people from zerging up and scaling events?
It feels like this game has become wack-a-mole…the mmo version of a hack and slash(diablo 3 style). Just mow down lots of baddies for crumbs of loot.
Well on this I have to say that ANet feeds the mob mentality with their huge world events. The Scarlet/Aetherblade/Invasion zergfest, the Queens Pavilion zergfest, the WvW zergfest…. the list goes on. This is the way they intend the game to be played.
Well this is the result of megaservers. Orr used to be dead. Now it is usually full. People (level 80 people) go there because everything in this game costs tons of gold, and there’s nowhere else to make the gold other than dungeons. Speaking personally, I don’t do dungeons because I can’t be relied upon by my party to stay for the whole time, as I have life going on around me. World bosses are usually too hard to get to on my play schedule. So, Cursed Shore is my new home, as I’m sure it is for many, many other high level players. I’m trying to get the materials needed to make The Dreamer (since I finally got my first precursor out of the Mystic Forge). I need gold. I need T6 mats. Where else to go??
My lovely Cantha-Warrior Asuka Flammenklaue -
I wasn’t a fan of the ninja outfit but with the new greatsword skin it looks fantastic. Never would have thought I’d see a ninja warrior! I like it!!
OP I wouldn’t worry about it. Your name may mean “I was immature to have that name” to you, no one else will view it that way.
I didn’t event make my name. My husband did. It’s what we called our dog back when he was a puppy, so now when people call me “oz” in game, I feel like I’m using my dog’s name :-/ … however, no one else knows that (or knew… cuz now I said it and they all know!). I much prefer when people call me Rose (all my toons are named Rose.. also not my real name), but whatever.
I like your account name. It seems like a neat play on words.
I agree poutine should be added. And ya, it’s cheese curds, not just regular cheese. If you have not tried it and feel like gaining a few pounds, please do try it, as it is definitely worth it.
Wake up and smell the roses please.. it is running 24/7.. once one map occasionally slips up cos its scaling fails as players logout.. the rest move to another map copy.. its a permanent issue hence the enormity of the exploit now pretty soon 000’s of players will have amassed everything they need.. tonight they were already bragging of their number of loot bags today, the amount of exotics etc they have farmed from it and all the mats they could think of.. there were even a few “better” shinnies being chat linked by the relentless ones that they have looted over the last few weeks.
As for leaving.. and go where .. to the next Orr map running the same exploit so players wanting to run the events legitimately cant because of the griefing or extensive scaling to spawn the maximum champs possible whilst ensuring those legitimate players don’t cause that “one mistake”.
But please do keep trying to justify the exploit some more.
I waited 5 hours this afternoon for Blix after it failed the very first round. I even switched to several maps and none had the event. The one that I just found lasted for a few runs before failing to defend Pent killed it. Please tell me how and where you are finding Blix 24/7 I want to farm more uninterrupted, thanks.
People link their shinies after world bosses all the time – it’s natural for players to brag. I’m not sure why you’re singling out Blix farmers like they’re the scum of the earth, when must of us are just playing the game and doing what we think is fun and profitable.
Anyway. Once the event gets nerfed, I’ll be sure to count the number of players that actually do the event and its chain legitimately. Probably three on a good day.
So true about not finding any “good” blix runs. I’ve only seen one map where it went on for a while (maybe one hour) before defend Penitent failed, because, hello, with a huge zerg, that event spawns super champs that just insta-kill everyone. I’m not even sure you can succeed in the defense of Penitent with a large crowd. So, you see, there is a built in “fail safe” there. 95% of maps I’ve been on, and I’m in CS all the time, does not do Blix, either because it constantly fails or there’s not enough people. Honestly I probably would do it as much as possible if I could find it, but I can’t. Please do tell me where it’s at. Knowing something exists doesn’t mean it happens all the time.
Strawman or not, “fixing” the exploitable events will ruin Orr. It was already nerfed horribly before, anything else and going there will become a waste of time. What you’re doing in contributing to ruining a part of the game for some players.
By the way, people have “contributed to ruining a part of the game for some players” . . . two words: Queensdale Train. Among other things.
Orr needs to be looked at closely and redone anyway. There are parts of it which remain completely untouched and several events nobody wants to do because other things are better off. Strait of Devastation is a mess, and the intended design of it runs counter to the current state of the game. Malchor’s Leap has a lot of stuff nobody really does, and Cursed Shore might as well be “the tunnel”.
I really hope there’s some shaking going on with this. starting with rebalancing the events. You want to know how you can do this with existing tech in the game?
Limit champion spawns to X number at Y intervals, then reward the champion bags after a successful completion. Eliminate all other loot except for grey vendor trash (precedent: “Risen Grubs from Risen Giants” – used to drop loot, was quickly patched out as people just farmed infinite grubs).
Problem solved. Do the same for other events which may spawn champions but don’t have world bosses or bonus chests involved.
Sure, love that idea. Have fun in your game while I go play something else because Orr is the last place other than dungeons that I can go to and make ok $$ in this frustrating game. Loot in this game is ABYSMAL. Doing hearts is a kitten waste of time when it takes me 10 mins to complete one for 2s. At that rate it would take me a year to save up for one set of exotic armor.
I don’t care about fail or success on events, but I’m sick and tired of every kitten thing in this game getting nerfed to oblivion. I don’t enjoy dungeons, nor can I spend “x” amount of time to support a dungeon team without being possibly taken away from the game. So, for those of us that can’t run 10 boring dungeons a day, Orr is it. WvW rewards are even worse than all other rewards. EoTM karma train is a boring joke.
But hey, if you 10 people want ANet to make everyone play how you approve of, then it will end up with 10 players at the end of the day while other move on to something enjoyable. Have fun.
My advice is learn how to move well. Kiting and dodging are important skills, especially as a necro. Also make sure you update your weapons and armor every 10 levels. Use good sigils, runes and food. I agree minions will help as well while leveling. Contact me in game any time. I’ve played necro since day 1.
While leveling i just buy armor and weapons every 10 levels off the trading post. It will be helpful to also buy the minor sigils and runes plus some +power and added experience from kills food. All weapons and armor while leveling should be based on power.. so “mighty” stats.
I have 2 of my warrior, Rose Faron, and one of my necro, Rose Dalila Ranae. The first one is my warrior’s steampunk look. The second is her savior of the world “boss in the stream” screen shot (taken during LS content). Then my necro enjoying the look of a devastated LA.
Staff/Whatever Guardian or Hammer/Somenthing+Warhorn warrior.
^^ this.
Funny I was joking with some guildies about how it is possible to become a walking lightbulb with that combination. Very bright and shining blindingly, and no little details or patterns.
Don’t get me wrong, I like shiny I like bright, but the chaos skins is a bit overkill for me. But to each their own.Gor the question… no regrets… I chose radiant, but never use any of the parts… might aswell have chosen hellfire, but guess what… would not be using that either… does not suit my character.
Woooo, bulky, shiny, and no respect for personal space!
Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh my eeeeyyyyyeeeeees!!!!!
Anywho, I didn’t know you only get one choice every 5000 AP or something. I chose the radiant gloves first, then the hellfire mantle. I asked ANet to change it in since I’ve never used the mantle but no luck. Although they will switch it if you contact them within 24 hours with the exact time of your mistaken choice.
dulfy.net usually provides at least a meta dungeon build guide for each profession as well.
For the extra couple minutes it takes me, as soon as I get through the starting human instance, I run to Divinity’s Reach, up to the bank, grab my stuff, then also run to the next WP where I have to meet Logan anyway, to unlock it. Then WP back to QD and start the PS. I would not spend gems on this. But then, I’m not doing hundreds of key runs a week.
Considering with all the chopping I’ve done ove the past couple of weeks and I’ve only gotten seven foxfire that whole time…. no…my luck still sucks, so I aint noticed.
^^ same here. you’re not alone.
To be fair, you’ll never get anything if you never open a chest. You have the chance to get something if you do open a chest. Is it likely? No, of course not, but someone will get lucky. It’s like playing the lottery. You can’t win if you don’t play. And if you’re not playing, then don’t be all jealous when someone else wins.
You can use bloodstone dust to make some ascended back pieces. That’s what I’m doing. Of course I have tons of dust but it’s taking me forever to save up 250 powerful bloods that I need for the recipe. Harsh ANet, very harsh.
Well I think this is an open and shut case. Any time Anet says an item is “very rare”, it truly is very rare and not worth gambling for unless you are like OP. Do not spend real $ on keys.
I agree. Yet farming some keys can pay off because it only takes opening that one chest to get something worth a lot. I mentioned somewhere in the forum I think that one guildmate went on his first key run after coming back from several months away from the game and ended up with the contract for the BL trader, worth 300g. First key, first run. So, you never know. Personally, most I ended up with was something worth about 85g, although now I can’t remember what it was.
I wouldn’t recommend spending as much time as the OP, but a few runs a week is a way to maybe earn something extra. I like to do one or two runs on each weekend morning while I’m having my coffee. For me, this has replaced the time I used to spend doing the FGS champ train. I find it relaxing and I can turn my brain off for an hour and get a couple keys.
That said, every time I think I’m done buying keys, I ended up buying more. But then I also go to casinos occasionally :p so I’m predisposed to enjoy a little gambling!
The map chat in this screenshot might get someone banned…
Uh, ya. And ANet/players were worried about how “toxic” the QD train was to new players…. lol.
Well I don’t know what maps you guys are on, but I am in CS a lot. Every day. The only thing I have seen anyone ask to fail is the Arah defense, since, if it is not failed, the attack on Arah won’t happen.
Jofast escort never fails. Defend shelter never fails. Nothing fails. Even the Arah defense hardly ever fails because people want to go farm the defend event even though the attack provides better rewards. What maps are you on? I don’t see this happening.
Honestly there are enough mobs and champs all over CS that you don’t have to fail anything to get lots of champ bags. And that’s ok, because it’s a high level area, with hard hitting mobs and champs. The events are fun and I can easily go there now for hours on end, thanks to the megaservers and always having lots of players around. This is one area where the megaservers did their job well IMO.
I don’t know which map I’m on (other than it’s a European one) because of mega-servers. What I can tell you is that I haven’t seen Shelter’s gate occupied by the Pact more than once in a week, conversely I’ve seen the Blix failtrain zerg on every other day in that week.
While I agree that there are quite enough champion-level events across the zone; the failtrain generates more champions in a shorter period of time and without spending silver on waypointing.
If zergs no longer spawned champion mobs then the problem would go away instantly, everywhere; even if ANet had a more creative solution, replacing champions with elites would be a decent enough placeholder measure to buy them breathing space to implement it.
So we should have no champs anywhere? Let’s just take out all loot. Why should anyone have anything in this game? Heaven knows we should just repeat the content for the sheer fun of it for the next 5 years. If there are champs, players will go there. Why? Because other than TP flipping there is no other way to make any gold in this game. So ya, just remove all loot and all champs. Then the RPers and pristine “for fun only” game players can have at it.
Sorry, but I’m really tired of players asking ANet to nerf everything. CS is finally fun for a change. LET’S KILL IT.
I agree with mtpelion in that you should go to Cursed Shore. You can farm the events there all day. The best events are: plinx, defend Penitent camp, defend shelter camp, Jofast escort, defend Jofast camp, and of course, all the temples. Even if you’ve done a temple even once already, it can be worth it when hundreds of mobs are spawning to do them again (I’m looking at you Mel). Defend Arah is good too but most people will want to fail that in order to start the Arah attack. Either way, there’s loads of mobs that give T6 mats, tons of T5 mats, heavy moldy bags. If you sell what you don’t want you’ll end up with lots of extra gold to buy T6 with. Also, you can use laurels to buy bags of T6 mats. Also, you can get them when crafting mystic clovers in the forge.
Hmm…I seem to be rewarded no matter how slow I am at accomplishing things. I’ve almost finished Map Completion on my first character after two years. Yay! I only need 7 more PoI, Vista.
Well, I hope I will be rewarded for finishing it, even though I am so slow. I will, won’t I? =/
All you get for that are two “gifts of exploration” which you can use to make a legendary. But if you haven’t had a precursor drop for you, then they are pretty much useless. Enjoy
- Make Achievement Chests something to look forward to again. We used to have a chance to get oddball armors that weren’t available to many parts of the game. (I got most of what is now called the “Apostle” light armor set this way). It would be nice to see that chance again. Ever since April 15th, the Achievement Chests have seemed like poor Champ Bags.
Hmm.. not even that good. I absolutely have no excitement on reaching a new achievement chest now. Ho hum, ANet, ho hum. Pretty soon the whole game will feel like ho hum… then what?
3. Remove the auto-targeting and pet aggro from ranger warhorn 5. It’s our run faster skill, not our “please go attack that and slow me down” skill.
It’s because it’s a blast finisher. Warrior warhorn 5 is the same way, and both should be fixed (they don’t do damage, so they shouldn’t aggro yellow monsters and put you in combat).
omgomgomg ya. I really hate when this happens. I’m running through WvW and use WH 5 and then some deer randomly attacks me!!! arrrrghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes on DISMISS called target. I have bad nerves. This is super annoying not to be able to undo it.
Make armor sortable by light, medium and heavy on the TP.
Make it so you can find FOOD on the TP. Srsly. Why this still not work??
Also like the idea of having all points on the mini map, not just north. I have a bad time with east/west. People get angry when you tell them to go the wrong way.
Disable or tone down particle effects.
Customizable cursor so us old folks can see it.
Lower price on extractor to something belonging on this planet. It should not cost more than the most expensive set of runes… to get out that most expensive set of runes. Srsly.
For sure necro is great for WvW. I main a necro there and I have a blast. If you’re really going to level there, I’d say: 1) go to EB rather than the BL, as you’ll have an easier time finding a zerg and will be able to contribute less without doing too much damage; 2) do stay at the peripheral and try to WP fast if you think you’re going to become a rallybot, rather than let yourself become said rallybot; 3) see if you can find a few mates/guildies that are high level to run with you, as maybe they can provide you some protection.
I took both my kids into WvW while they were in the 30-ish level range, and they had a great time. However, I’m not on a high level, huge server. We went at a fairly slow time and did manage to take some towers and they helped when we got into a big zerg and tried to take an enemy keep. They were happy with how fast they leveled up there, too.
Good luck and have fun
Don’t worry about ranger not being good in WvW. There is a learning curve, but it does just fine. It even does perfectly fine in zergs, it just doesn’t offer teammates as much as something like a guardian does, which is where the supposedly bad reputation comes from.
If you want to try ranger in WvW, as much as I think it’s a kitten awful stupid boring build, I might recommend roaming on a regen condi ranger. At leas by doing that you’ll get used to using the semi-awkward movement skills and evades. Once you get those two things down you’ll be totally good to go with any build you want.
Thanks fluffball. I’ll try to find one of those “regen condi ranger” builds and check it out.
