Does that still work? I’ve heard that it has been nerfed.
Works for me.
Loot stacks
-gain a stack for every x players killed.
-higher stacks mean YOU drop better loot when killed
-Remove on down.
Oh, interesting idea!
I don’t know though. Many people saying players will basically farm each other for kills. Then why are we in WvW at all? I thought we were there for our servers. However, at the same time, since I can make WAY better coin in PvE, there needs to be some increase/improvement in the rewards in WvW. Honestly, it is truly disheartening to get a barb after battling another player for any length of time. I should get more for that than I would for getting out my pickaxe and harvesting mithril!!!!!

LOL BooDuh… we should be able to use the spikes to stomp players.
If you are patient enough, one day it can be anyone’s turn
Or not. That’s the whole problem. Patience has no impact. We should have a solid way of earning a precursor. I mean, I’ve played thousands of hours. How much more patient should I be? Most likely me and a million others will never get that luck.
But congrats to you.
Something must be better than the oodles of spikes. Seriously. Better loot = more fun.
Well why not right? Count me in. This is very nice of you, btw
I would agree not for EotM. I actually wish they’d do away with that place, though I’m sure many would disagree. Maybe if PvE’ers weren’t there, they’d try real WvW.
Rose had to take a moment to appreciate the scenery.
Using WP after getting killed should be encouraged, rather than punishing the dead.
For example, If you rally at a waypoint from dead, you get a 100% speed boost that decays over 30sec.
That’s a much better idea. Thanks for suggesting it!
I like this idea. It’s always good to have more ways of obtaining APs, and we could sure use more people getting into WvW. I think there must be some rewards handed out for defending. While Lord Kuru is, I believe, also somewhat correct in that WvW needs some love as well, maybe weekly bonus points is at least a way to get some more people interested in trying it out.
Zack is dead on right. The OP is doing his thing in the wrong place. If you get your kicks from PvP and want to play where people won’t run….uh……play sPvP. If you’re the ’leet you seem to think you are, go tPvP. Oh and have fun.
Right now you’re playing in a game mode where PvP is not the objective of most players.
Honestly the OP sounds like someone who’s actually hoping that they can somehow guilt people into fighting 1v1s for hopefully some free kills.
Whether I fight or not is no concern of yours. Wanze is right. I kind of hope you cry so hard ’cuz people are running from you that you log out and make it easier for my side to win in the GROUP ARENA that is WvW.
Oh, and above you say that we’re not here for your entertainment, but then state you “feel upset I can’t enjoy myself” because people run. Which is it? Aaaand I can guarantee I feel no “trauma” for playing my game how I wish to play it. If I felt such horrible emotions playing a game I think I would need psychiatric help, or at least to put it down and step away from the computer and go outside for some fresh air and reality.
Look, you’re playing with a lot of other actual people, who have actual lives. Stuff happens. I will never just lie dead for the reason of not wanting to spend 2s to waypoint, but for one instance, I was playing along yesterday and came across the Fire Shaman world boss event completely by chance. I started the event, then I had an unexpected knock at the door. I had no time to exit the game. Luckily, I was in a spot where I was ok, but I fully expected I’d be dead on return.
All I’m saying is that we have ANet punishing us enough for every little tiny thing. Surely this is not game breaking. I am quite sure, actually, that this relates specifically to GRENTH, where it’s a long hike back if you WP. Maybe ANet should put a WP closer to the thing. If they did, I guarantee that would take care of 80% of the problem. The other 20% will just be kittens no matter what you do.
Great, more ways to suck out the little in game cash I have. Sometimes, you gotta take a phone call or get unexpected company or your dog is puking on the carpet. What we do not need is more reasons for people to get upset about this game. ANet is doing a good job of kittening people off for too many other reasons.
Well I still haven’t gotten a precursor drop, so I’ve set my sights on something I can actually attain and craft, an ascended back piece. Needing 250 powerful bloods and 50 ectos is at least reachable.
This game is just ridiculous in some ways. You have to go through hoops just to get some kitten trait points, but you have ZERO ways of actually attaining the “best” items in the game other than blind luck. I spend hours and hours and hours in Orr farming mobs and events, killing thousands and thousands of baddies. I’m lucky if I get ANY exotic drop in a month, with over 300% MF (including boosters and food). Ya, I know my odds of a precursor drop – ZERO times 1000000 is still ZERO.
I have to reiterate that having to do this even once is …not fun. Having to do it on every alt is more than tedious. My son recently tried to get back into GW2 and left again rather quickly BECAUSE OF THE KITTEN NEW TRAIT SYSTEM.
Wake up ANet and fix this mess. It is seriously unbelievable how this company ignores its players….you know…the people who generate revenues for shareholders.
Wanze is my hero. And many of the assumptions of some of the posters in this thread are flat out wrong. Please refrain from making blanket statements about what “type” of person does anything in internet-land. To continue to espouse such trash just makes you look silly and …well….wrong.
Judging from your appreciation of a glorified troll I’d venture to guess you’re one of those people who runs at the sight of a red name and pans people for using +duration foods while standing safely behind your tower gates.
Keep GUESSING. And keep not knowing anything. Have fun
Even then, you’ll have to make sure your server finishes in the top 5 in the tournament I believe or you don’t get the tickets. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Was aiming for a “prince of darkness” look, I’m skeptic about the gauntlets and pauldrons, maybe the breastplate. What do you think?

Personally, I think it looks great. You’ve managed to make a very cohesive and dark look from an interesting mix of armors and great use of colors. Well done
One of the best looking Sylvaris I’ve seen.

Unfortunatly, even thoguh I completed the meta, I found myself with 0 tickets (deletted the viable instead the voided ones due mistake, and Anet won’t refund me -.-’’)
P.s. if u had to change the items, at least u could put the BLTP delette confrimation, so I had to input the name of the item, that would have prevented me to trow them away, get ur s**t togheter Anet…
That seriously sucks. Sorry to hear that…
>> Don’t roam if you don’t want to fight, have a secondary set with you that you can use when you’re solo (considering you can reset traits on the go there’s no reason not to) and unless you have an objective like defending an ally, tower, camp or are trying to reach your zerg, don’t be a pitiful runner
Nonsense. A person should run if he wants to run and fight if he wants to fight. Other players are not there solely to amuse you. They are there for their own reasons. They paid money for the game just as you did and as long as they are not hacking they are free to play as they wish.
Super right on. Why should i care what you think? It’s my game and my time. And anyone who suggests completely overhauling your build and gear every time you run into an enemy player is not being rational. Uh….no.
I ended up also getting the hero version of the mace. It is super awesome. Almost as good as the Monkshood skin. I’ll probably upgrade it to the Mistforged version next season.
Sorry, Jerus, biggest tip is gather everything and sell it on the TP, not to NPC vendors. I had no idea about that for ages and I was sooooo poor. Learn about the trading post and how it works, and use it. You can thank me later. You should only vendor the trophy items which can’t be sold on the TP, or anything that doesn’t sell on the TP for more than the vendor amount.
One thing you have to consider is that the squishier classes with higher DPS will generally have a higher skill cap and just need more experience to play WELL. Warrior has high DPS, high HP, and is mobile, meaning that it’s a “forgiving” class to play. If you make a mistake as a thief or ele, you’ll pay for it, so it forces you to play smarter.
Since in PvP everyone is level 80 and all gear is “free”, you can try lots of different classes and builds. Once you choose one you enjoy, taker him/her out into PvE and have fun. PvE, unless you’re speed clearing dungeons with a dedicated group, requires no hard skills – it’s all faceroll as soon as you figure out what all the bad guys’ skills are and how to spot them, regardless of how squishy you are.
Of course it is C.
If you see someone 1v1, let them 1v1……….
it’s not obvious at all. They may be a support build, rushing to an objective and get ganked by a thief. They may be happy with that and want a duel, but they may also want help to get on with their mission.
Personally, when it is not in an obvious duelling location (I.e. Mainly back of south camp) I would engage first but back off if asked. This is WvW, it’s a team game, by default you keep your allies alive and kill your enemies!
Yes, yes, yes. To the person above who said I should win a 1v1 situation: my build is for team support, not PvP. PvP has a place, and it’s not in WvW.
Almost at 2 now. My necro has 99%, with only a couple WvW points left, including the dreaded JP in the EB green keep…. shudders and gets out wallet to pay a mesmer for a port
What I would like to see:
- Toned down requirements and/or more variety in ways to acquire traits (i.e. more options for the same trait).
- Scrap the skill-point cost and leave the gold price as is, BUT only allow purchases once the specific trait (line and number) has already been “unlocked” on the account (acquired by any character/any profession). This would
1: Put new players through the unlocking phase, forcing them to explore the world (but with more reasonable requirements). I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this as long as the tasks can be completed reliably.
2: Allow seasoned players who’ve already gone through the content a thousand times to unlock traits quickly (purchase) while still leaving open the option to unlock through tasks for people who like to do this.Keeping the price relatively high (40g) would be an incentive to unlock manually but people would still have the option of instant unlocks.
Incidentally, this would resemble the GW1 system of regular skill unlocks, except for the fact that a specific trait number would be unlocked across all professions.
I think you have some good, positive ideas here. +1.
Well i think the people who love the skins won’t feel it’s too much work to buy or make a legendary. Personally, i have a certain look for a given character and will spend 200g on one skin if i feel it fits the look i’m going for. The ONLY skin i like of the legendaries is the rifle, but it doesn’t go at all with my overall look so i have no incentive to get it.
On the other hand i have many dragons jade, dream thistle, and tormented skins. I got loads of those glowy pink/purple mist weapons, and lots of gem store armor. More than anything i LOVE how all my characters look.
I just think you should have fun in the game, whatever that means to you.
(edited by ozmaniandevil.6805)
It is a world versus world zone, not a PvP zone. Just for the record, if my allies see me getting beat down by an enemy…..PLEASE come and help me. I’m just a necro and have no means of escaping my fate.
I ended up choosing the axe for the mistforged weapon. Not sure what I’m going to use my other 150 tix for, or if I will just throw them in my bank until next year.
You hit the thing right there. The reasons you stated for halting your quest for a legendary are pretty much exactly why I stopped trying to make one (that I would keep). I actually did the grind for Sunrise, just to see how long it would take. I almost uninstalled the game, I was soooo fed up with grinding. I ended up selling it because with that 2000g I received, I outfitted ALL my characters with many, many other things. It was a good decision.
Having a legendary will not make the game more fun. People will not “oooooh” and “aaaaahhh” over your shiny. No one cares, especially since any person with a credit card can buy the actual legendary. And ya, once you have what you wanted so bad… then what? Try to enjoy just playing. It’s so much better.
I can’t agree more that the new trait system is horribly flawed, unrewarding, tedious, and/or costly. I hate it. I don’t have many alts, and this is just another reason not to make any more.
Why does ANet continuously say one thing while doing something completely different? Play how I want??? Hah. Doesn’t seem so. Stop forcing players to do specific content. Just STOP.
I can’t decide. I play 3 classes – warrior, necro and thief. I’m taking my thief out of the equation because I have her look based on the dragon’s jade weapons, which I love.
I use my necro the most, so if I want something just for her it will be axe, warhorn, dagger, or focus (I have the bloody prince staff, which I love). Warrior can also use axe, warhorn. Soooo I’m leaning toward one of those two. Ya, all the usual warhorns are pretty kitteny looking so leaning even more toward that one.
I think I think too much … but I don’t want to choose something and regret it later!!
If you send a ticket within 24 hours and have not unlocked the skin, they may help you. You will need to know when it happened.
I tried to exchange AP reward skin and they weren’t able to help only because I left it too long.
This is the sweetest thing i’ve seen in these forums. Good luck!
The point of this thread is that the majority of the time WvW is not fun. I like to call it a “perfect storm” when each server actually has a balanced match up and the score remains remotely close, WvW is incredibly fun, but it’s pretty kitten 80% of the time.
Sure the fights are fun at times, and many people enjoy the open field battles, but the system does not encourage this type of play, nor reward it so the end result is frustration from the player base.
There’s so many interesting things WvW could do.
I even remember them speaking about changing the scoring system from a week to week basis, for example, camps would be worth more points for a week; but of course we’ve yet to see them do that.
While I can argue that the even fights are a blast, so is winning the defends/battles when you’re outnumbered 3-1. On the other hand, I’ve definitely been there when our server couldn’t even get out of the home base zone… no, that was totally UNFUN. I agree with the person that said though that ANet and NCSoft are motivated by dollars, not really what players hope for. The only time they might really listen is when it hits their bank statement.
My whole point is that the (possible) argument that being able to salvage WvW gear would WRECK THE ECONOMY is invalid when you consider how easy it is to get dungeon gear, which IS salvagable. And I truly believe that a great many players would be happy just to get the runes out on salvage. Personally, I could care less if I get an extra 3 scraps of silk when I have 50g worth of runes sitting there.
Need terrormancer build, otherwise you’ll just fear them off. You need to damage them for tags as well to lock them in combat so they die when they fall. Otherwise they can WP before they plunge to their death.
Thanks for the info. I’ll be setting up my new build this weekend
I’m sure I’ll make back any gold it will cost me very quickly!
Oh my… the loot. The loooooooooooot!!!!! Ya, I’m definitely spending all my time in EotM from now on.
I must really learn to do this flawlessly with my necro. Oh, the laughs I will have.
Here’s a couple different looks for my warrior, Rose Faron. Mixes of human T2, T3, Aetherblade, and chainmail, maybe one or two others I can’t remember.
Ya, I personally don’t understand this. As another poster mentioned, dungeon tokens are probably more easy to come by than badges, yet you can salvage that stuff. Makes no sense. Even if we didn’t get materials, it should be absolutely allowed to salvage to get back any upgrades.
This is an issue I see with many players and the real problem is that everyone seems to wait until WvW is the only thing they have left. It would be so much better to start WvW as soon as possible, and probably a good idea to join one guild that does a lot of WvW (they usually only ask you to rep while you’re in WvW, and you can have 4 guilds, so….).
It really comes down to patience. Also, if you feel that maybe your gear or build are under-performing, I highly suggest looking into your sepecific class sub-forum and asking for assistance or just browsing through, as many people list and hash out many, many different types of builds. Use food. Use armor/rejuvination boosters if you have them.
Everyone has to learn WvW sometime, so I don’t believe anyone should be called out for being a “noob”. My first time there I was totally lost – no help, no guild. I ran around, got killed and left, not returning for a long time, until I watched a developer video on “how to WvW”. Sorry, I can’t remember the link.
Anyway, good luck. You’ll get everything eventually!
LOL… so awesome. Much win. Very OP.
Im guessing its pocket lint.
I’m going with risen pocket lint.
I don’t understand the whole server swapping thing. I mean, I chose IoJ and regardless of how outnumbered we are, it’s my “home”. I would never consider transferring to get a skin or any other “shiny”. I don’t know why ANet allows this sort of thing?!
locoman, the only thing I don’t agree with is that you did not get “one” yellow stone on map completion before the wardrobe system. You got 3. So effectively it is exactly the same, yet it isn’t because now you basically use THREE yellow charges for one change on a character, regardless of level.
Nope, I am not changing looks on any characters until I have maxed out their armor. Will not be wasting charges on something I’ll have to re-transmute after an hour or two of play. So, has ANet actually achieved anything useful with the wardrobe? Not as much as one might have thought when it was first announced.
