I agree commander tags should be account bound. SINCE the cost of the tags has not changed and is not dependent on price fluctuations, then YES, refund the gold of anyone who already has more than one. Seems perfectly fair.
I have to agree I used to transume my stuff a lot on alts (I had tons of yellow trans stones) but now I don’t. While I don’t think FREE would go over well at ANet corporate, how about 1 transumtation charge for a full set of under 80 gear? That seems a lot more reasonable that 6, but you still need to use a charge. If it were like that my alts wouldn’t look so darn … unimpressive.
They could even tier it so level 19 and under uses 1 charge, 20-39 level uses 2, 40-59 uses 3, 60-79 uses 4, then you need one for each piece at level 80. What do you guys think of that?
I like the use of kitten as a profanity replacement. It’s lighthearted and can take the bite or sting out of anything. I use it now in my daily life as my own profanity filter. I work in an accounting office, so profanity is something I can never use. Does raise eyebrows though when I say “kitteny kitten!” when I’m upset!
It’s still easy to get karma. I suggest getting some boosters and banners and doing WvW in the usual places plus Edge of the Mists plus events in Cursed Shore and other places in Orr. Honestly i hardly even play and i get more karma than i will ever use. Do your daily and monthly too as you get more karma on completing those. If you play a lot you will have enough in a few weeks…less if a lot really means A LOT.
People need to STOP waiting until the last second to do WvW. That would solve 99% of all this issue. But no. People do 97% completion (all PvE) then cry when they have to wait 3 months for some WvW stuff.
You could also join a guild that does a lot of WvW. You can be in more than one guild. Usually they will just ask that you represent them while you’re in WvW. That way you know you have lots of friendlies around and if you tell them you need something, odds are they will help you try and get it if possible. Additionally, they could call out in guild chat if they see something open in WvW that you need.
WvW mapping is not hard. At all. Just takes some planning and patience and being pro-active.
Maybe you just need to have a boo at the necro sub-forum and get updated on new traits and builds and the best type of armor to get for your particular play style.
Personally, I started GW2 with a necro, got to Orr, and stopped playing because it seemed WAY too hard. However, being new to the game I had no idea about updating my traits and gear and using consumables and such. Now that I have almost 2k hours under my belt, I LOVE my necro. I had leveled and mained a warrior in between. They are fun also, and wanted in all areas of the game. Just don’t give up on the necro!
I don’t think this is a bad idea. Personally I have a Gift of Battle sitting in my bank because one day I needed to use WvW tokens for the daily and I coudn’t think of anything else even remotely useful. Aaaaannnnd.. I’m not making a legendary. But I don’t want to delete it in case I change my mind sometime or maybe get a precursor drop (ROFL…. IKR??!! never gonna happen).
Why can’t we sell these gifts if we can sell the actual legendary? Maybe someone who doesn’t want to do world completion but is willing to do everything else for making a legendary wouldn’t mind paying for the gift? Price could be set by market, as the legendary weapons and precursors and T6 materials are now.

Disregarding troll posts…. in PvE the entire game is centered around DPS. You have to do damage. You will never get great DPS out of a guardian without heavy trade offs. Warrior is simply the complete package, whether people care to admit that or not.
Me too. I was sadly disappointed to see this was not the case. What to do with my um-teen boosters? Delete or leave sitting in my bank for another year?
GW2 has been extremely uneventful lately, with that said, I’m wondering what you all are doing with your time in game.
I personally am trying to stock up on things that I think will be in high demand in the future and just in general trying to accumulate funds. I’m not really the rp type or “just walk around and take in the sights” type myself.

Honestly if you want to have TOO MUCH stuff too do in this game craft legendary. Crafting legendary makes every single thing you do feel worth it and it makes the experience far more enjoyable when you find out that everything you do is actually moving you towards a common goal. I dropped this game for 2 months and when i came back on i still didnt enjoy it, but soon as i had the idea to craft a legendary it totally turned the game around for me and made it so much more fun.

Personally, I would like to have this as a goal, but until a precursor drops for me, forget it. I refuse to pay another player all my gold to pay them off for my crappy luck and their good luck. I did buy a precursor once, but never again. Waiting for that (never to happen) drop…. and waiting… and waiting…..
Warrior has great health pool and lots of power to get stuff done. I have played both and ended up deleting my guardian because it hits like a wet noodle. If PvE is your main focus, you can use the 25% speed increase trait and just power up. Have a look on the warrior sub-forum and get some ideas for leveling builds. I found using rifle and axe/mace was pretty awesome for leveling. There is absolutely no content you cannot do on a warrior. My warr is the only character I have with 100% map completion (though I do have 99% now on my necro as well). Have fun and happy trails!

Boss Blitz is too boring. Mostly just bored right now.
For leveling i suggest GS and axe/mace, or LB or rifle in place of GS if you want some range. You will kill stuff fast. Use berserker weapons but if you are still learning to kite and dodge then you should probably use Valkyrie armor. Use a stacking sigil like bloodlust to do extra damage. Use runes that increase power. You want to faceroll stuff not fight it.
Note that a Black Lion salvage kit will give you the best ratio of ectos out of the rares, with Masters kit and Mystic Forge kit next, and about equal to each other.
World bosses give guaranteed rares, which you can salvage for ecto. Back in the OLD days, when we had a WB train going on our server, I could get 20-25 ecto in 1.5 hours. I haven’t done any WBs since the megaserver and change in times, but I know there are new timer sites set up.
There is a 25% percent speed boost available to everyone. Some get it from traits, some from utilities others from runes. This is call a trade-off.

Good point kefkejaco. I agree that our AP reward chests have been nerfed to the point that the only thing I like about them are the laurels and gold. No excitement. No sense of “wow, COOL I just got this chest!!”. More like… meh.. so what? If we are to get harder content then please make the rewards worth it. No rewards = no fun ANet… srsly.
I just hope that people consider all the facts and all relevant data before uninstalling and going on a rampage.

As for money creep, I don’t think so (Zudet mentioned it). Assuming LS2 is of significant size, had they stuffed it in a box and sold is as an ‘expension’ rather than labeling it ‘Living Story’ that topic would never have come up. Fear mongering is all that is.

Well I just want to add my 2 cents here that I think this is fantastic. Just when I start to get a little upset with my favorite game, they go and change stuff for the better.
Personally, I did miss several parts of Season 1 due to RL commitments, so I wasn’t able to get all AP and bonus shinies. I’d be happy to buy some gems to play through it. Also, even though I’m probably classed as a casual player, I like the thought of having some tougher content. I was getting really depressed by zerg training all the content. A challenge now and then never hurt anyone. I just hope most of it is soloable, because it would not be fun to try to get other people involved if they have already done content or didn’t want to pay to unlock.
I agree as well Xenon. I don’t understand the uproar here. We all don’t need to panic. No one, I repeat, no one, HAS to buy anything to win anything. Relax and eat a cookie.
LS does not cost gems. If you log in when it’s going, it costs you nothing. New players do not have to experience the whole LS1 to play the game. However, they at least will have the option to pay a bit to open that up. I don’t understand the crying over this.
Terrible idea all around. While I’m not a huge fan of being pushed to the gem store, buying gems is still my own choice. If there is a sub fee, for anything, I would uninstall, and I’m sure many others would too. I don’t think that the sub fee player base is the one that this game is marketed to. How about they just give better loot all around but continue to release better stuff more often in the gem store? I love to spend my money on cool looking pixels
8/10 … I like it a lot. Seems to suit an asuran. Maybe just missing the descriptive part of the name. I also like that it’s an actual name and not a play on words.
Actually the best and most efficient thing to do is buy gems, trade for gold, and purchase the skins you want off the TP. In the end it will “cost” you less than using 40 hours of your time (most likely) or using cash to buy gems to trade for keys. You have no idea how many keys it might take to get 1 claim ticket. Believe me, I have spent cash in the past to buy the keys. Now, I actually delete the BL chests I get so I am no longer tempted to do so. If I want a skin that badly I will convert gems to gold. Much more satisfying.
Not to say that real money exchanges are doomed to hurt a game’s progression, but the game needs to release content that brings players to the game, not just the game’s store. Give meaning to the items on sale behind gameplay and lore, and give alternate versions through actual content participation and challenges.
While not a sterling example, I can remember where I got my Desert Rose back piece from, because I was having fun on Sanctum Sprint, then opened the RNG reward and saw it there. A minor Squee-moment. We need more squee-moments.
Hit the nail right on the head there. I don’t even bother with most LS stuff now because getting something “cool” and LS related is next to impossible. As a fan of the game and a daily player, I can’t even express how excited I would be to get something cool by PLAYING THE GAME. I remember the only cool drop I did get. The one time I defeated Teq and got the wings of the sunless. I cherish those wings.
Bring people to your game, ANet. Make it fun and they will come. I don’t think it’s enticing to say “here’s a boring game with a gem shop so you can look pretty whilst doing boring stuff for no reward.” Huh? Ya.
Ya nexxe, it’s way easier and less time consuming for me to work an hour and convert that to gems than to “work” in-game to earn gold to buy gems. It takes me 1 hour to earn enough to buy 2800 gems in real life. To use in-game gold for that would take me months of farming… oh… wait.. farming no longer allowed… make that a year or so of “normal” game-play.

I am calling it like it is. The correlation is between gold seller activity and ANet announcements.
Gold sources versus sinks is a separate issue that has been very well balanced so far. It seems like it hurts a bit right now since they just removed a passive (i.e. bad) source of gold generation (champ bags) and the prices haven’t adjusted downwards yet to reflect the reduction in gold supply.

I hear you on this one. I have also bought and transmuted several pieces of cultural armor. It would be nice for ANet to let us have those in our wardrobe, but seems somewhat unfair given that I’m sure many people have deleted or transmuted other items as well, which they cannot get back. We made the choice to transmute or delete, so… I think we are just going to be SOL. There has to be a line drawn somewhere I think.
Still doesn’t make a lot of sense to .. buy gems to convert something you typically buy with gems…? I would have been way happier had they just introduced speed boosters in the gem store. I don’t have any since I stopped buying BL keys. And I don’t get enough of the ones I can change into speed in order to justify buying anything like this. Oh well.. more monies stays in muh bank.
I agree a preview in game would be a fantastic addition. I know I can see them on youtube but then the resolution isn’t always good and it’s just kind of a pain in the kitten to look them all up.
I have a question… if you’re leveling and you’re going to be upgrading your weapon a few times, but want to use the Bloodlust sigil, can you get it out every time if you salvage with a BL salvage kit?
Uh ya, this is a support ticket kind of thing. What do you expect we can do for you? ANet support has been great for me so far. I’m sure they’ll be able to assist. Also, I’m in PST time zone in NA and I know server reset is not until 5:00 p.m. my time. Have you hit reset time yet where you are?
I have to say that with the Megaserver in full swing, you can make ok coin in Cursed Shore (ya, I know, now they’re gonna nerf it into oblivian again ’cuz I said it). This is due to events being done constantly. You will need to WP around the map a bit, but every day I can easily do every temple in CS, plus many, many other champs and events that spawn huge amounts of mobs (Pent defend, Shelter defend, Jofast camp, Plinx, etc). Since the latest patch this is my only way of making money, since I am not too into dungeons. This will also help you get more T5 mats to upgrade and a good amount of T6 mats too.
I would like to get into a good Crown Pavilion group run, but so far I’ve only been in there with ZERG people and it was awful.
This really does need to get fixed. And not just for commanders. I’m often “leading” people around Cursed Shore for events and I get suppressed way too often. I get suppressed for linking WPs and everything else. It’s really frustrating and I honestly don’t understand the reasoning. There’s still lots of annoying people in chat, there’s still lots of spammers. I’m sure there must be a better way.
