Out of curiosity, how viable is this build in PvE compared to other classes? I just came back after a year break because I got bored; used to play a thief. I decided to swap from Thief -> to Necro due to the fact that the condition build back then isn’t as viable anymore compared to the pure power/crit and the fact I don’t want to change all my gear ;_;.

With that all and said, how would you rank this build for DPS compared to say… Engineer, thief, etc. Also, is going scepter/dagger or staff any good (condition wise), or would this build still be better? One other thing, how well does D/D do?

Just my own 2 cents but with this build I can solo champs in PvE I love, love, love this build.

I’m working on finishing up my full set of Berserker Flame Legion set (6x Sup Runes of the Scholar) + Berserker Molten GS (Sup Sigil of Fire) and its too much of a glass cannon. I was originally using a full set of Berserker accessories as well, but it was way too squishy.

I’ve tried using some Knights accessories instead, but I’m wondering if Soldiers would be better with the added Vitality over Precision. My goal is a balanced build that would work in both Dungeons and WvW. How are other Berserker players gearing their toons and what would you recommend for (Runes/Accessories) to help improve the survivability?

I agree with what another poster stated. You can’t be good at both dungeons and WvW with the exact same armor set (speaking WvW zergs here). You need 2 sets. You could use knight/valkyrie in WvW with zerk trinkets and go all zerk for dungeons. Also agree that if dodge and evade is not something you’re super good at, then even for dungeons you’ll want to use some mix with zerk until you get the hang of it. Good luck!

Well truly if throwing gold at it works for you then you can craft each dicsipline to 400 in about 4 hrs. Then see above ideas for getting to final levels.

Please post a pic of your thief wearing Magitech armor! I just got this for my human female thief but I’m thinking of changing out a few pieces. I would love to see what others have done as far as mix-n-match. I’ll post of pic of my own later tonight.

You got the message because the item you were going to put the rune on already had a rune on it. The message tells you the original rune will be lost. If the rune says 0/2, that means you can equip 2 of them, on different items, to get the full effect of the rune. So, if you have 1 rune, you’ll get only the #1 stat boost. If you have both runes, you’ll get the #1 and the #2 stat boosts. You can only equip a rune on the correct level of gear. So if your rune is level 30, but your toon is only level 20, you can’t use it. As runes levels increase, you can get larger sets. For example, a level 80 rune should give you 0/6 states. So you can buy 6 of the runes and put one on each piece of your armor. As you add each one, you’ll get increased stats. You can get different runes, but you only get the stats for however many you have. You should do a search on the wiki. There’s lots of info there! Good luck

Oh ya, some of these “rune thingies” are very expensive (like superior rune of the traveller at about 8g each). They’re way cheaper at lower levels, like minor and major runes. You can buy them on the TP if you are looking for a specific set, although some, like Monk’s, can only be gotten through running dungeons.

One way to level “relatively” quickly is by jumping into WvW and zerg running for a week. You could use WXP and karma boosters to help out. Another option is the boring old Queensdale champ train (I can’t handle that one for long, but some do it all day?). You could craft the cheaper crafts. If you have a crafting booster that helps. Also use gw2crafts.net. That shows you exactly what you need and how much it will cost.

Good rule of thumb for gearing is about 40g, but that was before ascended armor came in. I think exotic armors are cheaper now. You could also use karma to get exotics. I hope this helps.

You also can’t sell if it’s soulbound. Some items can only be destroyed. But ya, any armor from a karma vendor is soulbound on acquire, so you won’t be able to sell it, and as I said, sometimes you can’t even salvage stuff. If you can’t sell on TP and can’t sell to vendor, just destroy it if you don’t want it anymore.

Meh. Forget about it and move on. I’ve seen people in my guild openly fighting because they disagree with how a dungeon run should be done. Maybe someone got kicked because of that (I don’t know, I just glanced at the verbal assaults/insults as they were happening).

It’s the interwebs. People be crazy on the interwebs. Look for a new, better guild. If it happens continuously, you may have some personality flaws you were previously unaware of.

With crafting boosters you can craft your way to about level 74-76, then go run the Queensdale champ train for 2 hours to complete to 80, or even to do some WvW zerging with XP and karma boosters. I would do it.

I’ve tried all the races and can only feel comfortable playing a human. Good on ya for trying out Sylvari, but I’m like you, in that the esthetics are super important to me. I don’t feel the armor fits well on any races other than human or norn.

It’s not worthless if people have to pay real cash for it. Count me as one that would love to get my hands on this. I skipped that LS garbage because I didn’t enjoy it one bit. Not that I wasn’t capable of doing. I would like a chance at that skin, ty.

I personally don’t mind at all if Anet releases more skins in the gemstore than in the game itself, because I make a good income and can afford to buy gems with cash. In fact, I wish they would come out with A LOT MORE skins in the gem store (better ones, too, no reskins, ty). However, for the interests of the people who play this game because it’s free to play after purchase, I think that Anet should also introduce more ways to get cool new armor in game. Why not best of both worlds, Anet???

I would still buy any skin I really like from the gemstore, regardless of any new armors added in game. I can’t be alone.

The personal story writing bored me so badly that I don’t care one iota for the lore or the story. I never played GW1, so I have no history to be nostalgic about. I don’t play for the lore/storey/role playing aspects. Maybe that’s why I’m very bored with the game in general now. I do the LS events when I can, but I have no idea what the actual story is behind Scarlet and the toxic baddies, nor do I care.

TL:DR; I mute the sound and skip all cutscenes. Nope, lore and story are not important to me at all.

Well you can stick with Berserker trinkets and rings if you’re looking for good roaming gear. If you have laurels saved up you can get ascended ones with those. You can also get ascended trinkets with guild tokens and with WvW tokens, and combinations of said stuff, as well as some ectos. However, if you’re not sure about exactly what build you want, you should hold off on spending those time-gated things on ascended pieces. You can make due with exotics in all areas. Trust me, you’ll kick yourself if you splurge on ascended items too soon. You can do a search on the TP for exotic level trinkets. But I believe that other than the new back item from the LA living story, the only place to get exotic back pieces are from karma vendors in Orr, or from a guild merchant.

Even in WvW, you will want to determine if you’re going to run with the zerg or roam solo or with a small team. You will want different armor for those situations. For zerg, you’ll likely want to stick with something like Soldier’s or Knight’s or Valkyrie. Those will give you some extra vitality/toughness. Berserker gear is all power, and even as a warrior, you’ll die faster in a large zerg wearing that. But if you want to roam solo or small group, you do want Berserker because you need to kill one or a few people very fast, so hence you want more power. You won’t be getting hit by 50 people at once, so you don’t need as much vitality and toughness. I highly suggest looking in the warrior subforum for some builds specific for WvW. You will probably gain a lot of knowledge and can even post up a build and ask for advice.

Yes put to rest the idea that spending real money makes any difference. I have spent hundreds on gems and thrown many hundreds of gold worth of weapons into the MF and gotten zero precursors. No precursor drops. About 1400 or so hours played also. Best things dropped for me were two ascended armor chests in the FGS champ train. One was a drop. One came from a gilded champ box. Both within one week.

Keep the RANDOM part in front of your thoughts. I find my drops come in groups and i have never felt particularly lucky given some of the stories i’ve read on the forums. You should just do what you like in game. Give up on thinking “if i do X so many times something good will happen” …or “i will get the awesome drop if i play enough”. You WILL be frustrated. That is all.

PUGs are the worst. You can’t take anyone in them seriously. If they kick you because you don’t have high enough AP it’s obviously because they need you to carry their sorry selves through the dungeon. You should really try to find a good guild to join. One with lots of people, and one with people willing to actually interact with guildmates. My guild is the 3rd largest on my server and I absolutely love it. There are always people who want to do many different things.

Good luck! And just ignore the AP. The only time I look at it is when I’m getting really close to the next chest. As soon as I get said chest I forget about it again. Just play how you enjoy.

I’m at the point now where I could easily outfit myself with ascended gear, but I’m just not. I just want to wait for ArenaNet to wake up and start adding viable methods of obtaining ascended gear through completion of actual content rather than the absolute mess of an ascended crafting system or complete reliance on RNG.

There is zero incentive to upgrade when they’ve already expressed desire to change the meta with regards to berserker gear and certain stat combinations. It’s too costly for what it is, and as has been screamed from the rooftops a million times already, it goes completely against the philosophy ArenaNet once touted about best-in-slot gear.

I’ve recently put down GW2 and taken up knitting. The knitting is a little more frustrating, but at least I have something to show for it at the end

MF has nothing to do with bad loot. I’m at 167% base and I usually get NOTHING from vets, even in Orr. I’m so sick of the Frostgorge train, yet other than dungeons (just another type of endless cycle of sameness) there is nothing in Tyria that pays enough to get anything considered “good” in the game. I even looked at crafting high end weapons, but the cost of the materials is so prohibitive that you make nothing on selling on TP after the tax.

Sorry, not seeing any logic in the runaround answer of “well you need lots of gold because some players are greedy and ask 111g for a dye, so ANet makes money because you have to convert gems to gold so you have to buy gems”. That honestly makes no sense. As the above poster stated, the company itself can continue to introduce new dyes that are only available in the gem store to make actual cash. Additionally, if they wanted to REALLY cash in on account bound dyes, they could do as another poster stated and sell you an item which turns the soulbound dyes into account wide dyes. That makes sense.

I agree with the OP, and that is ONE of the many reasons I will never make ascended gear of any kind (I do have 2 ascended armor pieces, but they were chest drops). The whole ascended thing is a load of bullkitten if you ask me. I only just shake my head at all the people who feel they must have it. This is my play time, not my 2nd job.

In order to get Account Bound dyes, you’re going to have to show ANet a way that they can monetize that better than the current systems without making the community at large upset.

ANet is a business and in this partly to make money (They’re fairly less concerned about the money than other companies thankfully). They hired someone from Nexon to oversee monetization of this game for that reason. Originally they wanted Dyes to be account bound (maybe regardless of the system they ended up implementing), they went with soulbound after bringing in the people focus on monetizing.

You’re best bet to change the current system is to show how to make Account Bound dyes be a win for the players and a win for ANet’s profits.

Can you show me how they make money with this now? It’s the players reaping the big profits here, not ANet. I don’t see how the company itself could care one way or another.

I honestly believe the ONLY people that foresee a problem with account wide dyes are those that have some worth 50g and up on the TP and don’t want to see their profits die. I don’t feel sorry for you. This game is about character customization but I can’t customize my characters as much as I would like because I could EASILY spend 500g on dyes for ONE character. But that is absurd, so I just don’t do it. Instead I just sigh and realize it’s one more thing that makes me unhappy about this game (the list is piling up, sadly).

Ya, I hear what you’re saying OP. Personally, I rarely ever try to do LS anymore because the whole Scarlett invasion goals just wrecked me. I actually hated the game after that for a while. I remember vividly playing for 8 solid hours on a Saturday waiting for that one last map to be invaded so I could get my achievement – being completely frustrated by the entire experience.

I finally decided to make it my goal to get a legendary instead, but that ended up feeling like just a HUGE grind. Made one and sold it, now can’t even bring myself to grind out another.

I tried WvW, and I love it, but it seems like I don’t have the time to devote, as there’s so much running around that I end up having to log off before I get anywhere.

I tried the new wurm thing once but hated the entire experience. Never tried Marionette. In fact, haven’t done a LS since Scarlet invaded, and feel completely left out of the loop on them.

Personally, I’m bored now. Too much new hard content, which is fine for those who are hard core, and I’m not complaining and saying it shouldn’t be added. However, for us casuals, not really feasible. I’m sick of the Frostgorge train, and don’t even know what I want to spend gold on anyway. Dungeons are a joke, with poor $ for time or run through mechanics that make them boring, and the problems with group leaders leaving, etc, etc.

I will be putting this game on the shelf for a while and playing Skyrim again, I think.

TL;DR. I don’t think I’m much help. I’m no longer excited about the game. I feel left behind and bored.

This has been talked about many, many times. It really seems like a huge flaw and one reason I would never PUG a dungeon unless I start it. This goes along with getting kicked at the last to bring in a guildie. Seriously, this is very flawed and I agree needs to be fixed ASAP. It baffles me that ANet hasn’t fixed it yet. Baffles me, I say.

This is a huge flaw in the game IMO. I would have a lot more dyes and be a lot happier with my toons if I could share dyes among them. As it is, I simply refuse to pay 80g for a dye for ONE character. And what does it matter to ANet if it’s per character or account? This would be a something huge they could do that would make (what I would assume to be) a huge portion of the player base happy.

Try a mesmer. Mobility is where this class shines, IMO. Not as squishy as a thief, and with the proper skills and traits, you can get away from anyone when necessary to reset a fight or simply escape to fight another time.

Necro was my first toon and I still love her to death (pun intended!).

My only real issue is lack of mobility. Every other class has a “get away” ability, except necro. The only thing we can do is chill or cripple, but even with Traveler’s runes you’re still only running in slow-mo compared to everyone else. Other than that, I love love love my Dalila.

Head Crowned, I have noticed the issue with the Flesh Golem as well. Extremely frustrating, to say the least.

Karma vendors in Orr will sell you exotics, as Garambola stated. Also, it’s good to point out these are soulbound on use, rather than on acquire, which is nice. I have 5 toons but only one that has Orr completed, so I buy my back items with one toon and throw them in my bank for my other toons to pick up.

People tell horror stories for a reason.

On the guesting, you can guest to 2 different servers every 24 hours. Once you’ve guested to a server you can come and go as much as you want. You do this through the character selection page, at the bottom left you “choose world”. Note that if you log out or go back to your character select screen, the game will automatically put you back to your home server, so you’d have to choose the guesting world again to go there. Once in the guesting server though, you can waypoint all over and you will stay on that server until you log out or go to character select screen.

Do a little google searching and you’ll quickly find which servers are good for which activities.

Note that you cannot guest and do WvW. You can only do that on your home server.

Find a world boss train. And like The Last Hobbit said, learn what to sell and what to salvage. Also, never sell anything to an NPC unless you can’t get more on the TP (can’t stress this enough!!).

Karma: world boss train usually at server reset (certain servers; you can guest) and WvW zerg running (go to EB, it will have an easy to tag onto zerg running pretty much 24/7).

Gold: Frostgorge Sound will net you WAY more gold than QD because of the higher opportunity to get T6 mats which are worth around 40s each ATM. Dungeons too, as stated. AC or CoF are good choices as once you know what to do and have a decent group together they are super fast and easy. Someone else just recently posted about a new Orr champ train, but I haven’t tried it yet. They stated at least 1.5g per hour, which to me seems really low.

I can easily make 100,000 karma just from a good, casual week in WvW. It’s not hard to come by unless your entire WvW is dead.

I like it but if I’m paying for it for each character I think 20 slots minimum. I would not pay for 10. I could use that up real quick. Otherwise, awesome idea!
