I don’t believe thief is a good zerg class unless you can stealth around the outside and pick off zerg stragglers. If you try to stay in the middle of the zerg you’ll become fodder for the enemy. Thieves are great for solo or small group roaming though.
If you really want zerg action, I suggest re-rolling a new class. Warrior, guardian, or necro are all good zerg classes. You can try out each one but I suggest looking for a build in the specific forums first and try to find one that is similar to your playstyle (like if you really like range then maybe necro would be good, something that uses staff and axe/warhorn).
The nice thing about WvW is that you can contribute while you level up.
I would just buy armor from the TP. Upgrade every 10 levels or so if you can afford it. My rule of thumb is to get the best I can afford – though I know this is harder when you are a really new player.
Edit: just saw you’re a thief. Upgrade more often if you can because thieves die easy. They can dish out high burst DPS, and are great for hiding and getting away, but once caught in WvW you’re probably gonna be in a world of hurt unless you’re a good PvP player. Check out the thief forum in particular to find some builds you can try and maybe tweak to fit your particular play style.
For WvW, with the advice above I will add that you can look for a guild that is involved in WvW. I’m not sure what server you’re on, but I’m on IoJ and I’m in the 3rd largest guild there. They have training sessions for WvW and are there every night (well pretty much all the time but specifically have guild groups at night), usually making it interesting by having “an all asuran guild train”, or all hammer warriors, or other such stuff. I’m also in another guild that specializes in WvW mesmer roaming. So ya, look in the guild forum and try to find a good one! You can join up to four, but most will ask that you represent them while you’re in WvW as part of their team.

Oh boy. Another thread where one person is telling everyone else how the game WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED…. based on their opinion of what constitutes “good” and “bad” gameplay.
Please. Save it. All of you can save it. ANet produces content, and developers play the game. I’m quite certain things are working as intended. If not, that’s up to THEM to decide (as evidenced in their never-ending “balancing patches”).
Stop (!) passing off your own opinions as “the best way”, “the right way”, “the true way”. It just makes you sound like a single-minded zealot.
I suggest you post your build in the warrior section of the forum. You’ll get a lot more feedback.
This has been bugged forever. First time i tried to do that SP i had to send in a report because there were the 3 sharkes sitting dead on the rocks. I couldn’t even interact. Next time they were at least alive on the rocks. Still ridiculous they haven’t fixed this after all this time.
Pull out your credit card. Buy gold. Alternatively, you can pull out your credit card, buy BL keys, open tons of chests, get some highly sought weapon skins (if you were lucky enough to get some BL claim tickets or enough scraps to get some tickets), and sell them on the TP for much gold. Boring old Frostgorge Sound champ train is another option, if you’re bored of also speed running dungeons. TP flipping probably works but I’m not into that so can’t really comment.
A couple of more pictures!
Really nice ! What are those colors ?
Thanks
The base metal colour is Charred – brings out the detail on the metal plates and sections
The alternate metal colour is Brass – matches the brass tones of the Predator
The bodysuit colour is Abyss – Wanted a very luxurious looking black leather look to the body suit
The glow colour and visor are coloured Amber – to fit with the glow of the Predator and its auraA couple of more pictures!
kitten ed fine. If I could handle that shoulder piece flapping about, I’d go this route too. I hide mine. Grats on Predator.
She’s a beaut.
Thanks
The shoulder piece looks okay on the current configuration – it adds a bit to the steampunk look I was going for. While I’m not a fan of that giant cog there, I do like how the rest of the piece looks. Would’ve been great if that cog was animated in some way! I am keeping an eye out for any other steampunk-y shoulder, that I could use as a viable replacement
I think you win title of BEST LOOKING CHARACTER IN GAME. Hands down my favorite look. I’m truly jealous and if I was the copying type I would copy this in a heartbeat.
Let me give a brief account of modern attempts to combat the RMT industry.
Company – “Alright guys, have fun leveling your characters to XX!”
player 1 – “leveling takes too long. The first time was fun though.”
player 2 – “Yeah. I’m gonna go pay real money to get power leveled from some shady dude on the net.”
Company – “Ok, how about we offer to level your character to 80 for real money? You know, legit and stuff.”
player 1 – “Pssssh, what is this P2W ish you’re givin’ me?”
Company – “But you just said..”
player 1 – “shhhhh, no more talking.”QFT
Company “Everything you loved about the prequel!”
Game : Very little of what we loved about the prequel existing in the sequel, bar maybe the lore?
Player : “What happened to everything we loved?”
Company : Oh things change and blah blah kittening blah blah, deal with it umad? Gem store"
Player : " But you said-"
Company “Shhhhh, we run this kitten”There will be different desires from different players, but a company’s best interest is catering for all player types.
A quick hit to level 80 for money affects NO one but that person.
It cuts an 8 hour crafting session in to an instant level max, while the funds go to the company rather than the anvil.
Word.

I totally understand what the OP is saying. The most and only “cool, exciting” thing that’s dropped for me is ascended armor chest. Other than that it has just been thousands of greens, blues, some rares and occassionally the very, very rare exotic worth more than 1g. It would be fun to maybe have a mini drop, or some cool skin, or … just anything different. Even the chance at something interest would be more fun than knowing you’re gonna get the same stuff today that you got for the last year… yawn. So yes, I agree we need more, different loot.
I really don’t get ANet. So much nerf. So few fun stuffs added. I’m getting perilously close to not logging in due to boredom.
As is always my advice on such matters, if you can stand the tediousness of it all, the Frostgorge Sound champ train is great for this. You can get them dropped by killing random mobs around/near the champs (quaggans esp.), and the champ bags and chests can provide a decent amount of all T6 materials. You can also use laurels to purchase a heavy bag of T6 materials, which will give you 3 random ones (1 laurel per bag). But you are guaranteed to get 3, so you can sell the ones you don’t want to buy the vicious claws off the TP.
Sorry, no way to unbind it, at least form your account. Bummer, I know. I bought and used a bunch of the Twilight Arbor weapons when they first came out and then shortly after they skyrocketed in price on the TP. I want to sell but that is not possible…. so ya, I feel your pain.
I think the heavy armor looks best on males, and large ones at that. I’m female so I have 4 female toons but decided to make one male JUST because I wanted some good looking heavy armor (made a guardian). However, even though I made my male human as big as possible, he still seems to be overpowered by his armor, which looks way too massive for his body. Roll a male norn and you’ll get the “right” heavy armor look.
Just…. let…. it……… go.
I know it’s all personal opinion, but I think the new one is better. I’m speaking as someone who did not get the original, but I honestly like the new one. Do remember that you can get a refund if you don’t like the new skin. And also realize that the medium and heavy armors are also reskins of other in-game armor, so don’t be all shocked they did the same here with the new light armor.
If I had gems I would actually be tempted to buy the new set, so thumbs up to ANet.
I believe that if you’re solo roaming and confident in your PvP abilities, you could use the same build for WvW as you would for PvE. However, use some -condi food, change your skills and traits and make sure you have stability and condi cleansing. WvW zerg running, on the other hand, would need a different build than PvE.
There’s nothing legendary about randomness.
This. Mystic Forge, Drops, and TP are not worthy of being part of anything that takes on the name “legendary”.
OP probably invested a ton of gold into precursors and is worried about losing that investment.
Agree 100% that OP is hoping to continue to cash in on RNG.
This is General Ozman. Posting some before, middle, and ending looks. Still not sure I love the dyes I’m using. I really want something that looks more metallic, something like Cuban has above.
My guardian Edward Osmund. Found this nice spot that makes Light shine on metal really well. Lots of pics I hope you guys like ’em.
Looks great! What dyes are you using?
Rose Evilslayer got some new human T3 and Phalanx armor. Really love the new look.
I’m really loving Dalila’s ’zerker look. Some more pics of her…
I think lodestones in orrian boxes are too rare. Better to kill mobs in high level zones or champ train for charged cores which you can use MF to turn into charged lodestones
Plus you get lots of other materials to sell also.
All that said it seems the OP thinks someone can make 35g in one night in WvW and i would love to see proof that would even be possible because i call BS on that. 35g in PvE yes. Not WvW.
If you have gold, or cash to turn into gold, you can craft to very close to 80 in about 4-5 hours, using the “fast” crafting recipes from gw2craft.net. Have fun
Yes, believe it or not!
Google is definitely the way to go.
It’s broken and has largely been so since launch. It’s not you.
I don’t see how Lost Orrian Jewelry boxes get you gold. I’ve opened loads of those and usually get more karma, obsidian shards (non-sellable), TONS of unidentifiable (and veritbaly worthless) objects, and very, very, very few lodestones. Once I got a mini that is also non-sellable. Save your karma and don’t use it on these boxes.
ETA: Maybe someone could make big gold in WvW if they’re on a T1, very large server, on a reset night and stay there for like 6-7 hours. On my server, there’s no way, EVER, I’d make even close to that.
My advice is to make Youtube your friend. I have used it many, many times to find/reach vistas and jumping puzzles. Why frustrate yourself? The only one I ended up not being able to reach without mesmer port assistance was the one at the green keep in Eternal Battlegrounds. That one is a jumping puzzle, and I cried a lot before offering a mesmer 1g to port me (I’m sure he/she would have done it for free – I insisted on giving the money because I was so grateful to have the help).
I’ve played over 1300 hours and only had ONE dropped giant eye. I had never even heard of it so had to look it up on the wiki as to what it was used in. To be fair, I don’t spend much time in Orr due to abysmal drop rates in general, but I would say that even actually collecting (not buying) 50 of these would be on par with saving materials to craft a legendary. 250 is out to lunch.
Can I ask a mod to close this topic?
1) Too much hatred and poison here
2) Copy/paste of numerous similar topics
3) Unproductive
Agree 100% with you. +1
Take a break or find something new to do in game. I have over 1300 hours in and I still haven’t even really tried PvP, and I’m just getting into WvW in a big way. I do find the PvE stuff quite boring now – mainly do champ trains for AP or gold. I may take a month or so break soon as well.
I refuse to grind though – I made one legendary and will probably make one more just to use my world completion gift, but the grinding for that nearly did me in. The next (and last) legendary I make will be achieved only through regular game play. And no ascended for me. Not even gonna touch that grind and I do great without it anyway.
TL;DR: You can’t do the same thing for thousands of hours without it getting stale at some point.
I believe any new armor will come strictly through the gem store, judging by the way things have been going. Personally, I just wish they had more choice even in the gem shop. I have bought a few of the armors, and would probably buy more if they came out with new cool stuff rather than reskinned yucky armor with flames (sorry, my vehemence of the newest armor slipped through – please take no offence if you like it and bought it).
I really think that GW2 for me is a fun game because of the different looks people can have, and I spend A LOT of time and in-game gold/actual cash to make my toons look “just right”. More choice, please. Then you get more of my monies.
That being said, judging also by how long it’s taking for them to come out with a replacement for the ripped off T3 flame armor, I think they have a very small team (like, maybe 1 overworked poor soul) that is dedicted to armor.
I use runes of scholar for PvE/dungeons (100% zerker) and melendru for WvW (can’t remember what gear I use there, haven’t played my warr in WvW for a while). I agree build is important and dependent on what you plan to do with it. Do not use the same gear for PvE and WvW. You’ll just be relatively ineffective at both.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malchor%27s_Fingers
This one drove me nuts for quite a while when trying to complete Malchor’s Leap. The zone doesnt unfog thru normal exploring, so you have to get lucky to know your last remaining vista is there.
Oh ya, I had problem with this one as well. I think I ended up asking my guildies to help me out. I raged on that for quite a while, but with guild help and learning to slow down on my jumps I finally got it. But ya, that was a tough one.
The one someone else mentioned, in Cursed Shore, which is also a jumping puzzle, with a vet at the end of it, was also really tough. I had to watch video on it a couple time, and still took me a long time to finally get it. Since I’ve gotten it though, I have helped several other people with it. That feels good
Start your own party and it fills quickly. If these people think achievement points matter, they’re bad at the game. Steer clear of them.
+1 from me as well. AP are about the most useless indicator of skill there is. If the party does not know this, they are probably needing you to carry them or are also extremely unskilled. Steer clear.
The solution has already been mentioned months back – an account bound bag type, where anything placed in it will be shared among all characters on the account. At the moment. Unequipping a tool before logging out isn’t half as troublesome as unequipping, moving it to the bank, then logging another char in, moving to a bank…
Great solution. The issue is that it’s inconvenient to always have to go to a bank to drop off/pick up. An account-wide inventory bag would be awesome! Even if it’s a gem shop item, I would get one. Would have to be worth it though, like 20 slots.
As it is now, I always, always park my characters at Trader’s Forum in LA before logging out or switching characters. At least this way I’m always near the bank when I start out so it does cut down on the hastle of having to pick up/drop off.
I concur that for luck especially, and other items, it would be a great QoL improvement. I hope ANet gives this some consideration, even though there are way more pressing ISSUES in the game.
Frostgorge Sound. Go to high pop server and wait at Drakkar waypoint. You can’t miss it.
Dredgehaunt Cliffs – Dostoev Sky Peak.
Nothing else in wvw (personally think all wvw vistas are easy – some are just a waiting game) or pve compares to this vista. Been ages since I’ve done it, and it’s the one that has stayed in my memory because of how horrible it is.
The number of times getting knocked off those platforms, or even finding the right path up to it… glad I never have to do it again!
For me this is a runner up to the one in WvW. Good call.
The vista at the SW Keep (green) in Eternal Battlegrounds.
Hands down. No contest.
Hate that thing.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. This was the last thing I needed for world completion, and there were many other players there trying to do it. We eventually called out in map chat for a mesmer. I paid 1 gold to that awesome mesmer. Well worth. Every bit. WORST vista in the entire game, hands down. I believe this because I have never asked for a mesmer port before this.
You can only apply medium armor skin to a medium armor class, AND only combine two of the same type in that head = head. You will not be able to apply the medium armor to a light armor class toon.
The issue is , the best in slot item is in the cash store, that should never happen.
An infinite gathering tool did not give an advantage (statistically) over an ocharium tool, this one does with its bonus item. The fact you can convert gold to gems does not give free reign to stick anything into the cash-shop, a player should be able to have best in slot for everything without encountering the cash-shop at all.
A second raised point is that it renders the old infinite tools obsolete, why would I buy anything else from the cash shop if it won’t retain its relative usefulness overtime?
Well said. This is what I believe as well.
If you’re level 80, go do the champ train in Forstgorge Sound. It’s much better $$ for your time than Queensdale, with a lot less whining. Quick dungeon paths are good too. Orr is bad and not worth anyone’s time.
Well I’m sure no one (especially ANet) cares about MHO, but I might as well chime in that I don’t agree with this either. Paying real cash to get something of convenience, that everyone else can get in game, for no cash, is fine. Paying real cash for something that gives me the opportunity to get something of value (regardless of how much value), when you can’t get that something in game, at all, is bad. Very bad. I don’t know if I go as far as P2W, but I agree that this, to me, signals a direction I don’t want this game to go in.
I fail to understand why ANet keeps pushing the boundaries of acceptability. They really could make tons of money with the gem store if they would just more things in there that people want… like… oh, I don’t know… new town clothes that can be worn in battle; more types of backpacks; more armor choices that aren’t rehashed armor; and any number of better convenience/looks items.
Warrior can get extra speed from trait “Warrior’s Sprint”. That’s what I use. However, for necro, guardian, mesmer, you’d have to use a skill instead of a trait. I use travelers on my mesmer and guardian, but switch my skill out for my necro… usually. If you use traveler runes you don’t have to remember/think about changing skills right before a fight.
[Guide] DPS Necro for PvE sticky up top. Works great.
Good info. So just to be sure for myself, if I have one toon that is in Vigil and I want to get Vigil armor or weapons for a different toon, I can use the Vigil toon to get the items, then transmute to white, then transmute to exotic for new toon, correct? So it doesn’t matter where you get the original soulbound item?
I don’t think we, the posters, should be reporting posts that moderators should be seeing and dealing with.
I totally get what the OP is saying, because I also don’t have a lot of time to play, at least not weeknights. I’m planning on doing the Mariontette event and the Scarlett’s lair thing, on Sunday.
I agree though that the waiting around part is not fun. That is one reason that once I was in on beating Teq, ONCE, I never went back, and never will. With limited play time, the last thing I want to do is stand around and twiddle my thumbs, waiting to have fun.. which ANet said we wouldn’t be doing.
Just do what most of us (?) do and skip the cut scenes all together. They’re completely terrible and not necessary to do the actual questing. Sorry ANet, I love 99% of GW2, but the cut scenes are a no for me.
I am not personally too worried about the spawn time, but for me that means I have to only attempt on the weekend, since I don’t have time during the week to sit around and wait. Look out Marionette! I’m coming for you!… on Sunday :p

She’s a beaut.
