One of the main problems I see is the adrenaline system.

We have in total 12 traits and abilities which revolve around us getting more adrenaline.

I don’t pick any of the traits to help me get adrenaline, or use any abilities to get adrenaline yet I can have a full bar 5 seconds into a battle from melee alone.

This makes those 12 things useless.

Problem is, apart from the passive effects associated with a full adrenal bar (regen/increased crit chance etc), the active abilities are terrible. So there’s no incentive to actually use the F1 key.

Signet of rage negates all traits which give you fury or speed, so that’s another 5 traits/abilities down the toilet.

Banners are all bad. They are clunky, terrible, poor benefits on use. That’s 7 more abilities/traits are pointless.

Signet effects just arn’t offensive, only benefit you slightly (apart from SOR), and have cast times and are very short lived. That’s 6 more gone.

So all in all you’re pidgeonholed when choosing abilities especially into maybe 3 out of 6 decent ones?

These are the issues. The rest of the traits involve adding 5 percent damage to us depending on what weapons we use or a 33 percent bleed chance or something. It’s saying we want you to hit things alot, if you decide not to do this, then fu. (but we won’t give you the survivability to do this….)

I had forgotten about knuckles! Oh wow, nothing would make me happier than being able to punch enemies down. (Getting a kill on the heavy in TF2 with boxing gloves…great fun).

I don’t think another soldier class is that viable, I mean what niche would he fill. Guardian has pretty much every base covered to be honest. Warriors cover the rest (kind of).

I’ve come to regard the warrior as a hit and run class, get in, do damage, get out (apache like).

Spear 1 : Jab >jab2 (has a bleed) >jab 3 is a 360 spin +bleed.

Spear 2: Spear Toss : Throws your spear 600 range, 2 second knockdown.

Spear 3: Spear vault : vaults you forwards and you do a small aoe 2 second cripple on landing+damage. (aoe targetted).

Spear 4: Spear parry : You do a parry manouver reflecting frontal attacks for 2 seconds.

Spear 5: Spear charge: Charge move, anyone caught on the front end of your spear during the move is immobilised for 2 seconds.

Hows that?

If anyones played Pirates knights and Vikings there was nothing more satisyfing than throwing a spear right into someones face from a mile away.

It’s cool man, I always enjoy videos of warriors. But as Braxxus said you should post more tourney videos, or if your posting spvp try and do 1v1’s or 1v2’s instead of just attacking things with team mates, because realistically any spec can do well in those scenarios.

Problem I have with your spec is you have no 20 percent reduction on weapon move traits. I know this is kind of picked up on by having fast hands, but personally I prefer to trait one of the weapons (usually greatsword, might on crit is great), and use the other weapon set as more of a utility set, in my case I run sword and shield. For the leap, snare, root and shield skills obviously.

Also I hate using my adrenaline bar (which you do alot running hammer), as 3 of my traits rely on me having a full bar all the time.

How do you cope with kiters btw, I have my sword 2 to instantly gap close. I always found hammer to lack on the mobility front in those situations.

If Warriors are so bad at pvp then why.............

Backstab does 1/4 of HB?

So Hb does 40k damage does it?

HB is a stationary channel. Unless you use it with bullrush and frenzy it never completes. People just walk away.

Bolas oh wow, did you just bring bolas into this? A skill which misses 99 percent of the time due to its issues with z axis pathing? Have you actually played a warrior or just looking at a character creator…..basilisk and devourer are guaranteed effects btw and they work off pistol shots.

You don’t think hitting for 5k with steal, then 5k with c+d followed by 10k backstab in the space of1-3 seconds is a good burst…go back to pve my friend, you have no idea what you’re doing.

A slightly more depressing fact for us btw.

If you are ever now fighting and somehow get vengeance activated don’t ever go for an elementalist because even if you do kill them, you will never get to stomp them with the new downed state change. You will fall over, and they will rez back up.

In fact don’t go after mesmers, thieves, guardians (unless stability is up) necros (same, only if you have stability)…Rangers and engis you have a chance of stomping though.

Oh..other warrios though, you can definately stomp them.

Anyhow…

Since we are pretty much bottom rung of all the classes Tpvp wise, and now out of downed state abilities have the worst, there can only be one possible way we can move…upwards!

In Daoc, the Theurgist and Cabalist were lowly classes! Then one day the buffs happened, and every alb group had a pair, if not more!!

This too shall happen to us, maybe not now, maybe not in 6 months time, maybe not for years!, One day we will be top of the tpvp picks! (or at least have a slightly better downed ability and a few bug fixes.).

It’s because even though the elementalist has high mobility, incredible survivability and utility and heaps of healing they thought it only right to increase his healing and cc. If you do somehow manage to finish him he can now enter an instant invulnerable mist form and deny you any chance of finishing him for the next 5 seconds.

Thanks by the way Anet. Since warriors now officially have the worst downed state in the game (previously held by eles), even if somehow we do activate vengeance (never happens), and our target is either a thief, mesmer (add in elementalist now!) and we do finish them off, there’s no POSSIBLE way we can down them before we fall back over and they revive from our death.

Thanks though, throw hammer on a 10 sec timer is great, really a game changer.

I agree, i’ve said this before.

Because warriors need to maintain melee range to do any sort of damage their auto attack damage needs to be upped across the whole range of melee weapons. Also because you only get any real damage on the third hit, and with the amount of kiting/blocks and shield you face this rarely occurs.

You would think right!

But sword 2 actually leaps you to where they were when you pressed it. So if they’re running you will land just short enough that sword 3 won’t hit.

Pretty annoying. I found best time to use sword 3 was only when you were definately on top of them. Never after a sword 2 sadly.

Yes, I figured that was the way with swords….it’s just that every other class has range aoe abilities distancing yourself was more of an advantage to them.

I found swords most useful for taking down other warriors : ( . (good fights too).

Anyone else think they’re a bit….underwhelming? Or on really long timers for what they do?

I say this because yesterday I decided to run two swords in spvp, you know…just to see.

I noted two things during this.

1) Killing people with sword is so much harder than anything else. Sword damage is low, it has no decent ranged component, you have to stay pretty much on top of your target non stop and be in the thick of fighting all the time, so you need alot of survival skills. Sword adrenal is horrible damage. I actually didn’t want to use it because I ended up taking more damage from the guy i rooted most of the time. (nothing like having to stand in place whilst a necro/elementalist drops 4 aoes on your head…)

2) Fix bolas….Just miss., jesus christ..they miss so much.

3)Out of out 20 utilities 13 are pretty redundant, and the others are pretty situational/ on long timers/don’t do that much.

The other issue is if you use balance stance/endure pain it sets off the internal timer, so your traited balance stance/endure pain won’t fire off.

They should really be on two seperate timers. Pretty poor design.

4) Please make banners useful, what a horrible clunky low benefit ability.

I’m afraid hammer just doesn’t have the mobility needed in WvW.

I keep falling back to greatsword. Greatsword is better for clearing mesmer clones/illusions anyway.

They just made elementalists (who are already very strong) even stronger? (probably best downed state in the game now.) All I see are the dagger/dagger or dagger/scepter ones running around with immovable health bars.

Ahh..good to see the warrior downed state is now bottom of the rung officially. God forbid warriors being not bottom in anything. (and lol at buffing the underwater skills….honestly who gives a FF about the underwater adrenal…..).

So the only thing warriors got was the tremor change for pvp.

They made elementalists (who are already hard as hell to kill as they ALL spec dagger sceptre healing/tank spec) even harder to kill? and added another cripple into their earth line….wow, just wow. They also upped their healing!!!! Seriously

We get stuck with throw hammer still as a downed state?

1) Wow on that damage, my blade trail usually hits for 1k-1.5k maximum on a target. I really just use it as a mesmer pet clearer or a snare/ranged root. Never ever had it do those sort of numbers.

2) Saddest thing was to see the warrior almost die when he only got one attack in the whole fight (admittedly the attack did hit for bugged damage.)

3) IlJumperMT, please decided on the level of lies you’re telling. Before you claimed 24k damage on a necro with HB, then it went up to 27k HB, then in this thread it’s 32k damage, pick a number and stick with it man, will it be 50k next time? 1 millionK? Eviscerates which hit for 12k? Whirlwind instagibbing thieves?

Honestly you my as well say warriors can shoot laser beams out of thier eyes and run at faster than light speeds. I have to hand it to you, 32k damage in spvp, when the highest damage anyone has ever done has only been on an npc, which was 18k with a full glass cannon build.

Also…more survivability than a thief?….lollers.

BUt please keep posting stats like that. I’d rather face more people trying to play warriors than thieves, it’s a 10 times easier fight.

Yes, this is spvp talk, ergo the name of the forum. He and I weren’t wrong at all.

Even if you were correct (and you’re not), and thieves ran with 10k hps, Auto attack would still have to swing at 3.3k+ a swing. Which is completely impossible no matter how you spec.

1) A thief would only have 10k hps if you equipped the Rabid set. Why are you equipping Rabid set? Every other set gives minumum 14k hps…

2) I play a warrior. aoe fear on 80 sec timer? Endure pain is 3 seconds on a 90 second timer, and shield block is on a 20 sec timer for 3 seconds.

3) Axe lolstorm? You mean whirling axe? which is terrible damage, and is like a massively inferior version to the thief stolen one which grants invulnerability for its duration? Tell me again about how good our spinning axe move is again, I would like to hear more….

4) Lukin, i’ll remember to equip see through invisibility next time I play, hope the thief attacks me when i’m at max hps, have all my timers off cooldown and no other players attacking me and my team mates are at my side.

So I have to predict an attack from an invisible opponent who can attack at anytime and I may not even know was there. I have to hope he decides to attack in the 3 seconds i can put up a block ability.

Now this may come as a shock to you, but my shield is not infinite, it has a cooldown use. Crazy right? And it even comes with an animation, so any thief could say ’ oh look! he’s blocking, i’ll wiat till it stops, then ill attack him!.’

Wow…just wow..ok.

1) You can have toughness or vitality, not both. If you have both your damage is 0. Either way a backstab+c+d+steal will do about18-20k, so even if you run max vitality you’re down to 8-10k health in a few seconds.

2) Stun breakers are on 1 minute timers. I’ll make sure to only fight every one minute and not use it on any other class I come across just in case i find a thief.

3) This had to be the funniest one. I’ll be sure to listen for thieves above the constant ’INCOMING!!! and mesmer blasts and arrow sounds and pets and so on…but honestly, that was amazing advice…lifesaving….

4) I stand a chance of killing a thief as long as I can catch him after he’s just killed another player.

5) Use an aoe, which I don’t have.

6) Swing the air and hope to hit something. What is it with you people and 2-3 auto attacks…Even if the thief had 14k hps (which is pretty glass cannon), my auto attacks would have to hit for 4.5k each…EACH…did you even think before you posted this?

7) Oh wow…it’s because every thief has learnt to counter every single weapon set and ability of all the other classes that they can backstab you for 10K, followed by c+d and steal for 5k each. That’s why! All other classes don’t need to bother to learn counters at all or dodge, that’s where our problem has been all this time. I forgot to dodge! or swap weapons!

8) Oh man! I also forgot to get my pet out, the pet i can’t summon and have no access to with any ability.

This list is amazing. keep going. Thief advice is the best sort of advice.

2 attacks of a greatsword will hit for 700-1100k each. It’s one of the worst auto attack weapons warriors have. Wow..i hope you be trollin friend.

And shiNn…../reporting a player for a regular post?, Is that how you function? If you can’t argue or give examples you just cry to teacher? How about you put on some big boy pants and explain how to adjust your build to avoid said damage so easily?

Sorry, but as the guy said it’s gimmick.

I ran longbow for a while, but as soon as anything focuses you you fall over, you have very little utility and no defence.

Pretty much everything else is more effective than a longbow in pvp.

Any sort of damage you do with aoes is completely negated by how little you do with Longbow 1’s miniscule damage.

Yeah, the whole ‘heavy’ armour bit is a bit of a joke.

You can’t go high defence, high hps and expect to kill anything at all though. It’s either high tough + power or high hps and power.

So I’ve found running high hps (27k) seems to afford me better protection. I found high toughness made very little difference to my survivability.

Guardians are just so much tougher, and yet output so much damage….

So we (on desolation) were roaming about on kodash lands and we spy a lone Engineer (flamethrower recognised/backpack!) mining.

The three of us attack and he dissapears from view. So i think ok, it’s the engi trait, he should reappear in a second.

Nope!

See him again and exactly the same thing happens, we’re on an empty plain, and nothing.

Nice to see stealth hacks in full force.

I had the dubious ‘honour’ of seeing him in a random spvp match last week.

For someone who doesn’t think the stealth bug doesn’t exist he was abusing the absolute hell out of it. I’m not suprised he was defending it. Otherwise he was just your average run of the mill thief, nothing special.

You know how I know there’s a problem?, When i start taking damage and spam nearest target since I can’t see what’s hitting me, nothing selects on my screen for at least 2-3 seconds. The game can’t even pick up a visable player.

Axes are pretty horrible in pvp. Axe 1 damage is nice, but they relaly have 0 utility/effects. Axe 4+ 5 are so so bad. SOOOO bad. 25 sec timer for a low damage skill which gives no effect. It’s only place is in pve…..even then i’d prefer to just use axe 1.

The ONLY time I would go axe is to try and beat a bunker elementalist. Only possible way (and a slim chance at that) , is to unload a precharged eviscerate, then another one asap and try and damage get them down before they can activate their multitude of defences. Otherwise they’re near unbeatable

LB is good for dungeons and maybe WvW sieges.

It sadly has no place in spvp or small skirmishes. Problem is LB 3 and adrenaline are pretty easily avoided.

Wow…really? A thief complaining about a hammer warrior? I think I’ve seen it all now…

Here’s a handy hint. Press roll for initiative then press steal once and you become an invincible whirlwind, take no damage and can’t be knocked down all the while doing damage. There, i’ve just won the fight for you.

This is shows your average thief skill. They’ve been so spoilt by having huge instant damage on one button key presses which need no skill whatsoever to kill people they forget sometimes they need to stun break/blind/ use actual tactics to win fights.

Or if roll for initiative is down? – Press dodge twice, go stealth and walk away, get helath back, comeback and kill the warrior. Absolutely no way a hammer warrior can kill you in a stun lock. Not actually possible.

If you have no stun breaks? – Why are you in pvp with no stun breaks. Go back to pve (jesus, I even use stun breaks in pve….)

So had another match last night, 7 thieves in other team again, all but one was a backstab build.

So much fun dropping dead instantly with my 27k hps and not even seeing your opponent.

There’s not really a counter to 10k,5k,5k in the space of a second and someone else doing the same. I’d rather have two warriors HB me, least I have a chance to respond.

When you see that many people flock to a class with the same build you know it’s op’d. It’s just kids/bad players who want an I win class because they want…an ego boost? I’m yet to see more than a couple of warriors in a game anymore. Since everyone can avoid HB now it’s become pretty pointless, and since outside of HB warriors don’t have any burst, they’re pretty pointless.

To the thief who said a few swings of a greatsword should take down a thief…you do know GS swing damage outside of HB is the lowest damaging weapon?

Yep, used that exact setup.

I give you it allows you a fair amount of survivability and kiting ability. I did fine tbh, but it just doesnt have that ‘oomph’ of other setups. I can’t terminate a thief when he’s about to down someone or do the double kill when someone is being rezzed.

I don’t know man, its nice!, but i think i need more raw damage with my survivability. I guess i found the pew pew of a rifle just not in your face enough for me. If I wanted that i’d have played a ranger.

Sorry dude, tried it, nice leeching build for when you’;re standing outside a fight but the damage is just too low.

Good for killing people who don’t know what they’re doing though and in WvW zergs i imagine.

That’s 26 players on first tier….that’s pretty kitten impressive for a non balanced game. ( Not sure why nocturne isn’t first tier…). Impossible to balance 60+ classes….(even then in randoms i see people doing amazingly well with some awful toons).

That’s why TSM used a tier 2 toon (kayle) so incredibly well in the last major finals. And Dr Mundo now 2nd tier! He was 4th-5th tier 12 months or so ago…(and as I recall he didn’t really recieve any major changes)

There are 7 classes in GW2 to balance yet 3 of them are must haves in tpvp and those with certain builds.

You know what, I will try this. I have decimated every single rifle warrior i’ve come across but I will give this a try to see if it really does have any use.

Btw, condition specced warriors just don’t seem to be any good because mainly everyone else but you can clear their conditions very well. Every other class has multiple condition removal abilities available almost constantly. The only class who doesn’t is actually the warrior….

All thieves,mesmers and now I see more bunker/heal elementalists each match.

It’s so boring and frustrating. Warriors I don’t mind, it’s fun fights. More interesting fights than watching 3/4 of your health dissapear from an invisible opponent who I can’t target or beating against someone who’s health bar doesn’t move or can heal themselves up every 10 seconds to full.

As everyone else said, what other class could do that….(well maybe a bunker healing elementalist or a bunker guardian could)..which is exactly why people complain about them.

Eviscerates hit for max 5-6k now at best. Sometimes it hits for 2k on guardians.

If we’re throwing stones here, I got hit for an 11k backstab+5k C+d+5k steal in the space of a few seconds yesterday.

So there we go.
