No, please, guys, we gotta stay INSIDE the box. Don’t want some moderator lock this thread up and lose another chance of getting my long-desired Announcer pack

Well, it’s just the voice from another game.XD

However, I think that the announcer is one of the reason why pvp seems more like a minigame than part of the world.

From what I’ve got, spvp is set on the mists. Players go there as some sort of pioneers, and are pitted against each other by spirits for amusement.

What if players were described as mercenaries fighting for groups trying to get hold of the mists?

This way, we might add an announcer that sounds more like a guy giving directions to the team.

They need more announcement like kill announcements
these doesn’t seems original but i want to hear it when i kill someone
“An enemy has been slain”
“An ally has been slain”
“First Blood”
“Double KIll”
“Triple Kill”
“Quadra KIll”
“Penta Kill”
“Killing Spree”
“Dominating”
“Rampage”
“Godlike”
“Exotic”
“LEGENDARY”
“Shut Down” (when you where killed many ppl for a long time without being killed but suddenly killed now)
“Denied” interrupting stomps
“Revived” team mate revived
“Executed” killed by mobs like svanir or chief
“Defeat”
“Victory”

I would be really exciting to play pvp if we have that. Also they need like 3 or more different tone of 1 announcement to make it not annoying if we hear it more than once like “Your Lord is blah blah blah” i find it really annoying.

since when is sustain a warriors strongest attribute? No no you see thats a GUARDIAN your thinking of. See warriors are the ones that rip stuff to shreds. Or atleast thats how I THOUGHT things worked.

P.S. condition necros render EVERYTHING useless

Yeah, too bad at some point the meta wass filled with people who couldn’t be ripped to shreds. Like Guardians (even med ones). This made war useless.

Not saying sustain should be one of the strongest attributes, but now it is.

Rank doesn’t mean anything:

if you are rank 40+, you might still know nothing about tourney.

If you are rank 10-, you SURELY know nothing about tourney. Unless you are a smurf account. You might also be a WvWvW veteran, which might help a bit (i.e.: you can fight really well, even if maybe you aren’t used to the rotation).

Maybe we need to make WvWvW unlock some skins for sPvP earlier. So that if we for example see a rank 10 with dredge gear, we know where you come from.

Portal Repairing the Treb

Mesmers usually wait until the treb is down to portal/repair so they don’t waste the CD.

Which is why you wait 50 to 60 seconds before killing the treb. Otherwise, it’s far more important to simply put pressure on the trebber than it is to actually kill the treb. They cannot use treb if they are constantly being attacked.

Other than that, committing to that fight for too long might actually put you into a 2v1 because a freshly respawned enemy decided to help his trebber.

Constant passive healing should not exist in the game, it’s too easy, takes away all the skill for the player to manage their healing and for the enemy to interrupt or counter their healing. It also makes Shield Block, Endure Pain and simply running away for a bit into healing abilities.

Demanding that any enemy apply 100% uptime poison as the only way to counter this particular heal is unacceptable, 3 professions have no access to poison and 100% heal reduction is not an acceptable counter for good game-play.

The passive aspect of the skill should be changed to grant a heal when attacking.

Passive: Heal for 400 every time you use a weapon skill.
Active: Heal for 3750.

Exactly, it cant be right that the only way to counter this build is by applying poison.
the whole point of healing skills is to have a way to counter it (interupt/CC).

Applying poison doesn’t even work. Or, at least, is not a specific counter for Healing Signet.

At most, you might say that constant application of poison can deny one of the strongest things a warrior has: his sustain.

Said that, classes that can do this might have a hard time surviving against a warrior in a teamfight.

Portal Repairing the Treb

If you know you can kill the mesmer, run at the enemy treb as soon as they get the repair kit. Seems like the only hing you can do.

Even if you don’t immediately destroy the treb, you will prevent the enemy from using it. Hopefully.

-Warriors , not going to say much on this as it’s going to be a common issue, they have no weakness, They deal the most damage, control as well as a guardian and can take as much damage. Personally I think they should be the lowest on the pyramid of damage, a warrior is a generic meat stick, even with trinity aside.

Actually warriors in this game are much more characterized than in others.

Do not make them “generic meatstick”. This is not a Korean game.

Another thing: reduce visual effects.

You know why skilled gameplay is enjoyable? Because it’s deeper and more around mindgames.

Now, adding clutter/reducing visibility makes achieving that result harder. But this difficulty cannot be overcome by thinking or devising a strategy. It can just be overcome with habit. Maybe.

And a difficulty that is overcome with habit is called artificial difficulty. Similar to those games where to play well you are forced to go trial and error.
And is wrong.

hello guys. I am pure spvper multiple class. I want to offer to players reroll warriors. what for work hard with another classes if u can play powerfull easy mode broken warriors. and keep play it until Anet nerf this stupid warrior.as soon as pvp will have balance then will worth to play different class. I am rank 44 now, most of matchs I did with warrior “Lavinskij” its not a trolling post,all crap coments will be ignored. I just want balance in pvp,playng my self thief/elementalist/necro/ranger/warrior. its terrible how another classes ( with random builds) weak compare to warrior. I am 99% sure this is waste of time make this Topic,but I can spend my few minutes for write it. if most of peoples start play warriors,and on forums will be post about BALANCE spvp,nerf warior.then I think anet will stop creating new rubbish for pve,and will focus on pvp balance.

P.S I am very sorry about my terrible English. I hope most of you will understood what I trying to tell.

played hambow maybe 30 minutes only. I played diferent builds. power /condition/banners, now I play full tank build,this is most unbalanced build.

Condi bunker? Even worse.XD

Play glass and se your rating go down, because every time you mess up in a group fight you die.XD

First my build was axe ahield/gs max power for axe f1 skill. When i played condi. It waa dual endure pain plius bers stance and stability signer. Its tank with high condi dmg.
Now i play tank with shouts hammer/sword shield.

Those things are eeeeeevil

(I made a tank with hammer/sword too, but no cleansing ire, no shouts and moar damage)

Well, one thing with eles is sure: when i find an ele in a group fight, I focus him first. Because he will probably be bursty and thus will cause trouble if left alone.
In general, I always keep an eye on them because they might surprise me.

I think what he’s trying to say is that ele’s gameplay isn’t actually all that varied: there are less decent or more eles, but there isn’t much difference between a decent ele and a great one.

Just making a wild assumption, I know nothing about the ele, I never liked it, no matter how strong or hard it was..

Personally I think there’s a massive difference between a bad ele and a good ele and that’s why I said the class has a high skillcap. A bad or average elementalist is, as others have said, useless in PvP competition, but from my experience a skilled elementalist still has its uses.

I can imagine that. I was just trying to translate the idea of eles having low skill cap with the interpretation based on the assumption I got from some people talking about the importance of rotation for eles. And if a class is rotation dependant, has a less free gameplay. But as I said, I have no experience with eles (I know a bit about what I have to avoid), so i can’t tell a good one from a bad one.

Why do people think ele’s have a high skill cap? There are already a few posts in this thread suggesting as much. One of the biggest problems with the class is that it has a very low skill cap.

Just think about it for a second. If ele’s had a high skill cap, then you would see them at high levels of play. Instead, high level ele’s are rerolling en masse. It takes double the effort to get the same reward other professions get. I think people are confusing “difficult to play” with “high skill cap”.

A skill cap (skill ceiling) is the amount of skill required to get the most out of a profession. Skill floor is the minimum skill required to be considered effective.

Ele could be half as viable as the next worst class and still have the highest skill cap.

I feel that warrior is a better roamer than guardian. This just because warrior can run more out of combat. Said that, talking about pure damaging potential they are not that far from each other.

What warrior brings to the table is more CC and AoE, or more mobility.

Said that, as a war I’m afraid to go against a med guard because I have to go melee, and their GS hurts. A lot.XD

I don’t play with points in defense so they usually outsustain me.

I even tried it, and it isn’t that hard to use… Is much stronger in small fights than against large groups, though (even if scepter helps a lot). Said that, sure, you need to overcome its weakness. You can have success on small nodes, such as Clocktower or Quarry.

And I did the math once: med guards can exceed 500 hps with shield and 3 meditations.

hurrrr durrr my skill level does not permit me to play full glass cannon warrior.
nowadays i play clerics amulet + rampager jewel warrior. no hammer.

I said CASUL, not casual.

An Alternative Approach to Balancing Warriors

and redslion the usage of warrior is not to hard regardless what spec you play it is positioning and high risk mostly which is what makes zerk warrior harder to play along with other glass canon options.

I just wanted to say that because of hambow people frown upon all warrior builds. While there are some that are harder to play.

IMHO GC warrior has same risk/reward ratio as other GC builds, but has higher risk and higher reward. (e.g.: a GC warrior can tear a hambow apart given enough time, bit if he’s caught without stability and not at full health, things go grim)

GC warrior = warrior with 0 points in defense, no investment in armor or hp.

However, IMHO warrior before buffs was the best designed class. Easy to grasp for both you and the opponent, no gimmick, no screen cluttering, all animations were easy to read, apart from mace and LB.

Your argument still hinges on the idea that it doesn’t take skill to spot what a caster is doing when he has summons, which isn’t true.

Hindering you from seeing what they are doing is part of the point of having summons. Just like any other mechanism that hinders players.

Yeah, a mechanic that makes the game more confusing and less readable.

Its one of the reason Gw2 will NEVER become an esport this way: spectators can’t see what’s going on.

It’s just like giving a defensive mechanic that damages your internet connection.

I already think the way mesmers are built is annoying, but it makes more sense than minion necro.

Well, that time I had a teammate too, but I was glassy, so ele burst plus teammate got me fast.

I was at 88% rating.

Lost a match.

Went at 90%.

There must be black magic involved.

Nope, rating deteriorates every hour. Your matchmaking rating however does not decay as fast. So it’s possible to lose a ranked match and gain rating, because your true rating (MMR ) was higher

If you were top 10 and went away for 2 weeks, you’d be like 80% and if you lost one match you’d snap back to top 50

That warrior was running signet of fury. We will never know what his build contained. And you EPd his 100b. The necro didn’t even try.
The mesmer just autoattacked you twice. Considering you got the jump on him like that, he probably just panicked or decided it wasn’t worth it, so just stayed to keep it contested until help arrived.

And Whirlwind Axe has a pretty low dps.

Now I see why you say that kind of build works like a charm… at those ratings, I was unstoppable too with a similar build. You could kill bunkers with bolas and hundred blades (go up a bit and it won’t be that easy).

P.S.: play without Cleansing Ire, ya whimp!XD

So? GW1 had tons of lame Teambuilds as well – it was part of the game.

If there’s no possibility of making insane Lamerbuilds like NecroSpike, IWAY, Rangespike and stuff like that, I think theres something missing. Yes; we all hated those builds in GW1 and being a Player that always wanted to win “the right way”, I’ve almost pulled out my hair a couple of times cuz of those builds; but it made the Meta interesting and forced ppl to be creative and come up with new strategies etc.

It’s also nothing new to e-Sports to have what some ppl might call “Lame” strategies or builds or anything that can be abused to win: SC2 has tons of silly rush and timing-builds for example – it’s part of the game.

A bad Meta isn’t characterized by some ppl abusing a certain build (as long as it’s not getting completely out of hand and is clearly imbalanced) but by stuff like:

- Boring and stagnant Meta.
- Classes and Builds that simply aren’t viable, therefore restricting creativity and leading to the point named above.
- A Meta that is restricting Players into playing a certain way strategy-wise.

A lot of these things are heavily dependant on the game-design though – not only “simple” balancing.

I’d absolutely love to see how GW2 would be in a GvG-like Setting with 6 to maybe 8 players (8 might be too much, even on big GvG-Maps, cuz of lack of Healers and generally more self-sufficient Chars).

I think the screenshot is about how of a mess the battle field can be, while GW1 was pretty clean in even bigger fights.

Ok first off you say this game lacks skilled play I completely agree with that point, but your reasoning for that is flawed. The REASON guild wars lacks depth is because certain classes have completely low risk builds such as hammer/longbow. This spec has no real skill shots to land almost everything on the weapon set is aoe. Also sustaining is not too hard as missing maybe 2 or 3 of your skills does not really hurt you too much or I should say as much as it should. Playing a ham/bow or condi tank warrior takes a lot less coordination compared to a full out glass cannon. Thats why I think this game should really revolve around high risk type builds (guardian exception). It just does not work the way things are set up to have both sustain and dps/condis in builds.

Actually many people say warrior is easy mode even if you go full glasscannon dps (which is harder than glasscannon burst, because you deal enormous dps, but have to stick to the target).

Actually, even missing/landing your skills in the clutter is really a gamble, and most of the time it’s a fire and forget. Your upside is that it works for the enemy, too.

I mean… even I played a burst warrior and did decently (could beat hambows and go well in 1v1 and mid fights… until I got focused, and i was going with the craziest build ever made: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJARTjkOxwJPqQMxBCzjfAkicZMemoPYHA-ToAg0CnI0RFkLIjOycs5MsYZB )… too bad I couldn’t revive anyone without dying myself.

I mean… it’s hard to talk about skillful play when a fight looks like this:

Just look at the visual effects.

In the first you can’t LITERALLY see what’s going on.

When things go like this, no build can afford to miss anything.

Other than this:

signet is keeping warrior afloat because other heals are kinda underwhelming. Healing Surge utility is actually a drawback considering you NEED it to be full, unless both you and your enemy are so glassy it won’t matter much because the fight will last nothing.

Introducing: tab targetting!

Tab targetting skips npcs, and will immediatally target players.

The “I cant click asuras” argument isnt really valid x.x

I use it myself, but I’m pretty sure it does not skip minions or summons.

You’ll tab target enemy players first, then AI. But first you’ll have to search for the player.

If you miss click or tab too many times, you have to first cancel your target. But thanks to Anet’s genius, we don’t have a button for that, we have to double click somewher hoping nothing will be on the cursour while we do it.

im pretty sure that was the last fix that was broken later again cause problems in pve. so im sure but 100% we are in old tab targeting. so not always enemy player is first selected.

Introducing: tab targetting!

Tab targetting skips npcs, and will immediatally target players.

The “I cant click asuras” argument isnt really valid x.x

I use it myself, but I’m pretty sure it does not skip minions or summons.

You’ll tab target enemy players first, then AI. But first you’ll have to search for the player.

If you miss click or tab too many times, you have to first cancel your target. But thanks to Anet’s genius, we don’t have a button for that, we have to double click somewher hoping nothing will be on the cursour while we do it.

Skynet has taken over anet. There is no need to play the game anymore, the AI will do it for you.

next patch, warriors are being taken over by Healing Signets, who will achieve a conscience on their own and will rebel against their owner to set forth and dominate the pvp scene by themselves.

I don’t know about you: in order to switch character/build, I need at least a minute. Making the match 4v5 for a minute is quite risky.

Not when you join a point where your mate is already downed in a 2v1, and you have to choos whether run away or try to ress him while the enemies poison and cleave the crap outta you.

ah, there are a few times where i run in, send everyone running with “fear me!” and revive the downed team mate.

Well, it’s still doable if your ally has most of his health. If not, leave him be.

If he dies out of point, enemies won’t kill him (it depends on the enemy… If I am alone and I know I could get invaded again, I’d rather not have a downed mesmer that can summon phantasmal rogue, for example) and will be far enough your fear me is less effective.

But it’s true most players don’t expect that, so it might work. Bunker/30 tactics warrior is not that used.

Mesmer and thief are easily the best options. The key to going for far point is being able to go back to the rest of your team when — not if — the need arises.

^This. Any class that has an easy time peeling away from a fight are typically the best classes to push far.

In teamque, you can set up a 3-man push to far to disorient them and plant 1-2 defender able to hold off at least 2 people while the rest move back to the team fights, that takes coordination though and isn’t used commonly in soloque.

Lol at all the people who say NEVER push far and that it’s a pointless endeavor. It’s far more important to travel along paths that reveal the most amount of information about enemy movements, and to know what your class can do well and what it cannot do well, and adjust accordingly than it is to stick with some brainless formulaic tactic.

Other than that, teleports are good because they work better on 3d terrain. In maps like Khylo you need to walk less.

I believe, that being able to pick out a specific cast animation on an Asura to interrupt it, in the middle of a fight, has nothing to do with skills.
Asura dissapear behind spell effects, minions, turrets and other pieces of fluff…
Things other races simply stand out from.
If you have a build that relies on interrupting the enemies heal etc. you’re gonna have a bad time.

I don’t think anyone actually picks out specific animations with any reliability. It reminds me of high level PvP from WoW. On the forums, no one ever fell for fake casts. But sure enough, play a top 10 player and fake casts would work about 50% of the time.

I do believe skill is enough to let you distinguish between actual ability casts and autoattacks. But anything beyond that I just don’t believe. I think it’s more like “oh hey, my random evade dodged that warr’s stun… err I mean I was totally watching for the stun animation all along”.

It’s just confirmation bias. If you always dodge abilities, which is feasible, a lot of the time you’ll dodge something you really wanted to. Then you convince yourself you did it on purpose, ignoring the dozens of times you dodged something you didn’t care about.

Well, mostly you are supposed to dodge out of Earthshaker. Doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it’s one of the most telegraphed skills.

Mess with the animation, and it becomes OP. Norn Eartshakers are easily dodged (not 100%, so dodging is not enough), Asuran ones not that well.

Other than that, when bigger races hit something with a weapon, touching the target is not enough: the reach of the weapon is actually superior to melee range. Pretty awkward.

Other skills from war must be predicted. Example: Pin Down. You have to expect the warrior to use that first and dodge as soon as you hear the sound of the arrow. Even then, this isn’t perfect.

I actually see dodge more used for repositioning.

I’ve seen a lot of matches becoming a game of “chase the point”, where everyone, enemy included, was running around capping uncontested points, outnumbering people and then starting running again (me too, I’m still have to learn stuff and get the hang of it). The outcome of this kind of matches is 50-50, IMHO. No fight really matters, everything is crazy.

You can have a solid win when you are always around your teammates and cooperate with them. Not when you join a point where your mate is already downed in a 2v1, and you have to choos whether run away or try to ress him while the enemies poison and cleave the crap outta you.

I wonder how people who played Warriors before Berserker Stance were ACTUALLY able to land damage.

I acknowledge that Berserker Stance is stupidly strong right now but the first step to not gutting this skill is to give it a one second casting time.

Inb4 people saying “learn to deal with blinds and not get carried by condition immunity.” I will not L2P when blinds and slows are so abundant on this game, you need to learn

P.S They will be the same people who failed to make Warrior work in competitive play back when Berserker Stance Immunity to conditions did not exist. If Berserker Stance should get nerfed, then so should blind spamming and slow spamming.

P.S#2 Don’t get me wrong I still have respect for you Ken, its just that its frustrating when people don’t know the difference between gutting and adding a means to counter play. At least with this current game’s state.

It was SLIGHTLY better in tourney play: you just pressured mid where mobility was less important because of the point. I found some limited success in using Soldier’s Amulet and building for damage.

The idea to play warriors back then was: NEVER duel, never 1v1. Your viability came from forcing the enemy on a point and in narrow corners.

When necros were buffed and cleansing Ire didn’t exist yet, it was a nightmare: you just couldn’t go on a point without being wiped out of existance. Our old condi removers (signet of stamina and lyssa) were completely useless. Only solution fas for me to build in only one way: cc spam, so that I could stunlock those filthy spammers to death.

With zerker stance, things changed a lot, though.

I think that all this focus about fast pvp is the problem.

Look at popular formats, like MOBA: it’s kinda the opposite of fast-paced.

Cast bars are for your dads mmorpg’s! If you can’t react to something coming your way, or get surprised by a sneaky attack, well that’s just part of the game. Works both ways, btw. Now for those a sura, there have been some great suggestions already.

That’s pvp is about spamming at each other until someone goes down.

Fast paced and animation based don’t mix that well.

Dark Souls is animation based, and isn’t fast paced for good reason.

Medkit has a very long cast time, is extremely active play and engi has few condi clear so poisen and chill affect this heal alot….. warriors never cast their heal (usually) so they havetime to attack constantly they also have a large hp and armor base….. healing turret is strong but is contered by chill and is also an active cast and since adrenal health is run with every viable warrior build warriors have wayy to much passive regen

This is what I said: the main problem about HS is not the brute heal, but the ease of use. And the fact you never stop putting pressure on the enemy, while the engineer has to stop dpsing in order to make medkit work.

I might add that Medkit also scales a lot better with healing power and toolkit recharge rate, other than sinergizing with Automated response, but that’s not the point.

Or maybe it is: scrap Healing Signet and give warriors medkit. Put Bandage Selfe as burst skill. Change the numbers a bit if you want, or stuff like that. Now you have not to spam adrenalin for damage to keep up with healing, and have to trait for better healing capability.

It makes sense: considering the thing they use, warriors are jacks-of-all-trade. They use physical prowess, but also magic (signets), and technology (the longbow is kinda high-tech: explosive, blinding, napalm charge arrows) to enhance their power. Mending looks already like you are bandaging yourself.

Oh Lord, that would be fun. I always felt like Medkit was a wonderfully designed skill.

One does not simply come here talking about roots with all the time we had to spend with Treesus.

However, I’d like a prosecution in the personal story with missions more similar to the starting ones. Stuff more linked to your race, class and homeland than all this “save the world” thingy.

Sometimes, you might have to go for something smaller, which can be even more demanding or epic.
