I think that the best solution is to only have humans in sPvP. Make it so that the first time you enter the Mists with any other race you get to design a human.

Well, some might want to see people as norns, to have less problems reading animations.

I think hating on Asura is not solving the root of this problem. They are~cute, you see.

What if, we can work on Asuran animations and make them more exaggerated/visually distinct than what they current are?

What about you give players the chance to see the enemies as the race they want?

Btw i’m running axe/shield war for pug fun…and even if i’m not listed into those low skill floor specs i have to say that even running an “out of meta” spec it’s still facerolling as kitten, way more than my main shatter mez with thousands of tpvp games on it..when talking bout warriors you don’t talk about broken builds…class it’s just broken no matter the build you’re running, you just need right op traits/utilities and you’re done..no spec actually takes so much skills on a war atm..some are just totally “spam to win” like hambow, banner bunker or s/s cond….but others are not challenging to play for sure..or at least way less than my other mains while still being more effective #espathz

If it’s named “Ark Goes Braindead” there’s a reason..no matter what i’m running i’m still braindead..

Low tiers are a mess… I could faceroll people with SD engi.XD

However, warrior is truly braindead when you play it on the smallest asura available.

When someone describes healing signet as: “A regen that regens harder than wolverine from Xmen on cocain and centrum b vitamins.” Theres something wrong, lol.

If I recall this quote came from a post called “The perfect warrior build,” in the warrior forum. Too bad that post was removed due to trolling, I found it pretty kitten funny.

The class went from hard to easy when Anet made possible for some war builds to be effective on any position and in any scenario (not talking about rock-paper-scissor, but about all the situations that happen in a match, like teamfights, roaming, bunker busting and so on).

Not good-at-all builds still exist, though, even if they still use some cheese to face other warriors.

Then it might be true that some classes have more uses than others, that they require more or less practice, more or less coordination, so balancing is still a big deal.

But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

And other than that, whatever happens you still need to know what you can and you can’t do. You can play an OP build and still get wrecked because you overestimate your power or your resistance and thus become useless for the team/worse than others.

Stop kidding yourself. Nothing in GW2 takes any skill. Dee Jay is exactly right, that the only thing requiring half a braincell, is knowing what battles to take, where to attack/defend, and positioning during fights. Everything else is just: close eyes, smash keyboard.
There’s no such thing as sophisticated attacks – and combo fields? If you consider those hard to use, I have some sad news for you.

It’s simple and it’s tough at the same time. There’s nothing inherently hard about understanding how to manage downed state, and yet even at the top level a lot of the big plays happen when one team mis-manages a stomp or rez.

I haven’t seen a player under r30 able to hold his own even in solo queues for a while, which is evidence that it at least takes some time. r30 is what, maybe 100-150 hours? That’s nothing to sneeze at.

Also, the population is pretty small, so we’re not seeing the game played at its skill cap, even by top teams.

But yes, the mechanics are pretty simple and unfortunately some recent FOTM builds have been the simplest possible combinations of an already fairly-simple system.

The res/stomp issue comes because it’s a metter of fraction of seconds.

Example: your teammate just got downed, the enemy is starting his stomp animation with stability popped. Assuming you are near your ally, that nobody will interrupt you and that there won’t be poison in the way you’ll manage to pull out a ress a split second before the stomping animation ends. Understanding when you can pull off a ress and when you’d just end up getting killed is very important.

This goes with some weapons, too. Example: Warrior’s 100b can be used as a downed state cleaver. But you have to position yourself in a way that will damage both the resser and the ressed. Your DPS will be enough to negate the attempt, but either a teammate stomps or you have to aim at downing the resser.

Dunning Krueger Effect. Things feel simple when you don’t understand them in depth. You don’t know what you don’t know.

Talking about personal experience with engi: even without playing much, kit management went natural after a while. It was all a matter of getting used to it.

The first time I roll any class in spvp I lose to NPC sparring partners. Even when copying good builds. Once I get the hang of it, things go smooth.

Not saying all build/classes are equally effective, but the difficult part is not understanding how a class works and having half an idea of what you need.

Then sure, you can execute them more or less smoothly, but you still know “I need to land A and B” and when you face a class you know, you have an idea of what they can do.

Higher level? Really? I’ve been ranked since the introduction of the leaderboards, with about rank 100 being the highest. I’ve had a consistent 60% winrate, and played with players from Paradigm, CC, AKGL etc. My current group consists of one player who’s currently rank 16, and one who’s rank 120. I’ve played almost sorely PvP and WvW since the betas, without ever playing Hotjoin or Zerging.

If you can boast better results than that, then I’m all ears. Until then, I suggest you go watch any of the ‘pro’ streams (like Teldo, Helseth or Ostrich), or simply take a look at the countless threads from former pros (Xeph comes to mind), who left the game because it was too easy, and too braindead.

Ranks dont mean sh…in this game :x. Deimos showed it:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/and-so-i-gave-solo-arena-a-try/first

99% of the pros in this game arent really that pro to be honest. They are where they are due to the lack of competition. Its a bit like the early TBC arena days where we would get to 2100-2200 with 0 losses since we where some of the few that where try harding it.

The only classes that take some degree of skill/coordination if compared to other MMOs are engi, ele and mesmer.Something can be said about thief aswell but its too quite simple mechanically to be considered difficult.

But still an important part of the gameplay is about rotation, downed state management (should I ress or stomp? Will I be able to do that fast enough?) and target calling in a teamfight.

IMHO classes might need different time to get used to, but you need more than class knowledge to succeed.

(Warriors should be Balanced like the Lion; as King of the Jungle—Balanced as King of the Classes)-

I agree that Warriors are way OP and i understand that this class need immediate Balance.

Even myself i find this totally Ridiculous; how can a heavy armor class have Extreme Mobilities and Extreme Resistance to everything and barely can die?

Where do you ever hear a Lion (King of the Jungle), being Immune to Everything, being Extreme Powerful (OP) and having Extreme Mobilities?

How Ludicrous would it be if a Lion had mobilities Ike a cheetah?

How Ludicrous would it be if a Lion had immunity to every disease/conditions like a shark?

How Ludicrous would it be if a Lion were Invulnerable to even death …like a Tardigrades

How Ludicrous would it be if a Lion was Immortal like a God?

Whoever or Whomever created and designed the Lion, did a Great Job! in Balancing them . Especially abiding by the Nature of Balance which ask and demand that; to Balance, one must have weakness, strength and to NOT be GODS.

Here in Guild Wars 2. Arena.net “Balance” is having Eternal Life, having God Like Powers, having Everlasting Abundance and being Immortal as a GOD.

What a Total Insult and Disgrace to The Nature of Balance

(ELementalists and Mesermers; you two need to be Balanced…as for Thieves and Rangers- you two need an immediate complete Redesign)

Lions balanced.

Humans OP plz nerf’em.

(However, the whole problem came because the warrior risked to be thrown out of pvp because of its weakness. But instead of making up for it buffing accordingly to the class design, they just added a band-aid buff that turned some weaknesses into strength. Beneath all that shiny stuff, a broken yet beautifully designed class still lies.)

Warrior builds kile this suck in duels. In general, warrior is an awful dueler.

They work much better in tourneys.

However, in order to make GS deal damage, I go 30/25/0/0/15, With might stacking runes, Balanced Stance, For Great Justice, Signet of Rage and 2*Sigil of battle. I use 2 of them because I won’t be swapping once every 5 seconds, but maybe Sigil of Strength and Battle might be better.

Once you are at full adrenaline (add 15% damage), with 20-25 stacks of might and the enemy is bleeding (add 10% damage), your AAs start dealing 3k damage on glasscannons.

Said that, you are full glass, and can die really quickly. 1v1 you’ll probably be outlasted and destroyed. In teamfights, where you don’t fight 1v1 builds, you are much more dangerous.

And you can cut through hambows like butter.

Passive applies only while taking direct damage.
Anyone?

That’d be difficult to implement since damage, technically speaking, doesn’t have a duration- it just hits by stair-step amounts. As a result it’s difficult to use the word “while” in this regard.

You can make a buff that lasts two seconds each time you take damage, though.

I’m surprised nobody said anything about canceling your own attacks to fully utilize your big hits. I do it constantly with my warrior, and I would feel inferior to others if I didn’t. I need to bait out their evades and cancel out my own attacks, and that is kinda weird in my opinion that I have to do something like this.

So far, I have not hear any of the other professions say anything about fake attacking.

Because most of the times you can just whack away and outlast others. Or you are in a group fight and don’t lose much by doing it.

You might need it to kill another warrior on a node, but most probably it wouldn’t be a good idea, and it would be a long battle nonetheless.

I find my warrior to be significantly more difficult to play well than my elementalist. With an Ele, the vast majority of the time there is a correct answer to whatever your current issue is, you just have to find it and execute it. There is a learning curve there of course, and elementalist is fun, but it is learnable.

Warrior is different because so much of your decision making happens before you even get to a fight. With warrior you have to spec(trait, gear, utilities, etc) to develop a gameplan for anything and then apply your gameplan regardless of the situation. Because the toolbox is powerful but shorter than other classes you have to maximize the effectiveness of your chosen tools, which is a different discipline from learning to pick the right tool from a full toolbox.

The problem comes when the choice is too obvious.

That part I don’t agree with; that the choices are obvious. The nice part about warrior is there are a large number of good utilities and traits to choose from; there is more than one trait combination that’s good. Mixing and matching them in different combinations is a huge part of what I enjoy about playing the class.

One of the reasons I don’t enjoy my elementalist as much is the traits especially are poorly implemented with very little functional variety. Ele skills are tremendously flexible and powerful, but the traits make designing an Ele build feel very limited and frustrating.

I know, warriors have an array of viable options, and this is what I like about them.

I started as engineer, then went to warrior when was UP, just because I felt that all the builds I made all went to the same 3-kit condi tank. With warrior I could play around with the stats more, make different things, create hybrids, cc tanks, cc bruisers (without being too strong) and so on. Many things much to discover.

Now it became easier to build a good warrior. There are some builds that are always good, and some choices that are obvious (like traiting into defense and going hammer with zerker amulet), and it’s too easy to make a build that fares excellently against anyone.

I’m okay with a class thet requires much more theory and reasoning than skill, that requires much more thought BEFORE the fight actually starts, to understand your potential and when and where to fight your opponent. I’m not okay with a class that doesn’t even require that.

I’d like warrior to be a class where you can make up for costant training with intuition and imagination. It kinda worked, when Tarcis made hambow it was kinda original. Too bad it was also good at everything, making copy pasting the best choice and destroying what could make the class good. This is the main problem with hambow: there are no situations where the build comes short in tournament. Before buffs, most builds were pretty weak, but could come victorious if they could bring the enemy on fighting on their terms.

I don’t want warriors to become paladins. Not only bound to be the easiest class (heck, I chose a paladin because I liked the idea of being one, because with WotlK they weren’t so pure anymore but still held faithful to their goal, why do they have to be dumb?), but also bound to have the most boring builds (go as deep as you can into one of those talent trees if you want to have something to press while you fight).

You can trick people even without counting dodges.

If they are channeling a skill, for example, they are much less likely to dodge.

Maybe we should do like in other games: one bar of energy for attacks and dodges, much larger, and you can either deplete it by dodging or by attacking, then it refills again.

Reduce the invulnerability fram from dodge and add an aftercast to attacks in which you can’t dodge, and it might be viable.

Roll warrior
pick up healsurge and dont grab berserker stance, cleansing ire or dogged march.
kitten on noobs and wait for them to call warrior OP.
Laugh and you are done.
(any warrior from launch or pre buffs will know why this is so comical…)

You either need Berserker Stance or Cleansing Ire. You can live with only one of them, but necro condispike is hardly avoidable, and you need something to get rid of it. Especially if you don’t go for cc lock.

I’m now trying this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJAURjkOxwJPqQMxBEzjfAIKiLjAkJ0HsDA-TwAg0CnIyRpjTHTOygsBNEZJyJkXIA

Yes, it has healing Signet, but is also squishy as hell, while requiring you to remain in the fight for long enough to build up might.

Rifle can be changed with other stuff.

i see 2 battle sigils.
can consider a different sigil?
on swap sigils got 9 second ICD right?

maybe 1 battle, 1 leech on rifle or long bow?

Sigil of battle on both weapons because it’s easier you’ll swap them once every 10 seconds, more than once every 5.

Strength and Battle might also work.

Judging by how your “proof” worked, I think I can give you a better method to prove that warrs aren’t OP:

1. Roll warrior
2. Run naked in sPvP using the infamous and OP 0/0/0/0/0 build with no amulet/jewel and no weapons and never use your heal.
3. See that warriors are not OP and then go complain about how thieves are hitting for 2k

What he meant was: how to put yourself to the test by making a build that still makes some sense but is not OP. That is, a build with much higher risk (you are much squishier and have no cc) for more rewards (you deal enormous damage).

I’d be interested in a dev answer on this too, mainly because:

- Necromancers still have mobility as a weakness
- Thieves still quickly die to focus

Yet warriors lost their weakness to condition and are now the true jack of all trades (which eles lost meaning they now have no class role anymore).

Because they overbuffed necros at some points. Condispam got hold of tournaments.

If condispam gets hold of tournaments, the only class that is weak against conditions will be useless. Especially because warrior go melee, where necros crap their marks. So Anet decided to make warriors more resistant to conditions in order to make them useful.

Then things went out of hand.

DPS-Guard is one of the only speccs that is well telegraphed. Should stay like that.

Uhm !Teleports and instant casts(meditations) is not exactly the definition of telegraphed imo.

Ok so what’s istant ?
- 16s cd, aoe dmg, condi removal, extra dmg if a condi was removed.
- 36s cd, 1200r teleport to target, burning if it connects, moderate dmg.
- 48s cd, the best cleanse of the game.

What’s NOT istant ?
- Everything else.

I say try again because you missed by a kitten lot.

Well, the problem is that if you are forced to stay on a narrow point and guard aa s with GS can reach you, it’s gonna hurt. And they are most probably gonna outlast you, unless you can lock and burst them down. In group fights they are weaker, because you just need to focus him down and deal so much damage his hp can’t handle it.

hammer is horrible
I do not use anymore

It can save a downed ally’s life.

It was an old love, I just don’t use it with Cleansing Ire.

This class must be nerfed so that not even the stupiest hotjoiner will ever think about picking a warrior for the next 3 years. The meta is apsolutely bullkitten – bow spamming and hammer jumping warriors everywhere. I am thick of this kittens, who spam immunity skills like smarties…they should dissapear for a very long time sooner than later.

[Merged][PvP][Warrior] Healing Signet is Too Powerful

in Profession Balance

redslion.9675

My idea on how to make it include active play and conscious choice is:

The higher health you have the more healing signet passive heals for. As your health gets lower the passive gets weaker. But the active gets stronger.

So:

From 100-75% passive: 400hp per sec active: 3,275
From 75-50% passive is 200hp per sec, active: 6,250
From 50%-0% passive is 100hp per sec, active 9,800

That sound a bit weird, it would be hardly any different from Healing Surge. After all, your suggested Healing Signet basically falls into two scenarios.

  • If your enemy cannot bring you low enough to make the active a sensible choice, then it is no different from the current situation.
  • If your enemy can bring you low enough to make the active a sensible choice, then the passive loses meaning as it will only act as a delay for the eventual active trigger. At that point, the skill is effectively identical to Healing Surge.

Using it when you are at 50% health might bring some crazy sustain. If you use it every time is off cooldown, it would touch 600 hps alone.

I would argue the learning curve is quite high, particularly for viewers (who are not necessarily players).

I’ve only just switched to pvp from wvw – the first time I tried pvp I had no idea what was going on. I’ve learned the game in wvw and only now switched over (and I’m loving it).

Watching some high level stream, I’m starting to realize there might not be much of a learning curve.

Example: downed state. If you are ressing an ally that is being stomped, the difference between a ress and a kill is of a split second. The smallest problem, the smallest distance between you and the ally, and you might not make it.

And even then, reading the enemy is hard and doesn’t feel that rewarding, in the mess of a battle. IMHO, obviously.

Some might say that clutter and reduction of readability adds difficulty to the game, but it might make it so difficult no one is able to play it and no one can make beautiful plays. So it all ends up in a spam fest.

The problem is the number of streamers is rapidly fading.

Example: when warriors were weaker we had Defektive and Tarcis streaming for the class. By june, july they stopped streamer, and I haven’t found any other guy streaming warrior gameplay.

But there’s one thing I don’t understand:

team queue/solo queue is full of warriors, while they are a rarity in dueling servers.

Seems like warriors are strong in 1v1 during tourneys but not during duels. Is it possible?

warriors are strong in team fights and pvp in this game is more about team than 1v1

I know… but many times I can kill people in 1v1, but when I go into a dueling server I get stomped.

There are many factors, I know, but I still find it kinda… odd.xD

Knocked down by warrior with my stability on

in Warrior

Posted by: redslion.9675

redslion.9675

I’ve got a question.

How is this possible that I, having my RaO on ( stability ), was knocked down by warrior? I mean, what’s the purpose of stability ( one if it’s main aims is to prevent being knocked down – description provided by the game ), if it doesn’t work the way it should? I.e. a warrior ( yes, the most op class in the game, the so called ‘class for lazy noobs’ ) can easily overcome my stability with his hammer spam.

Thanks for your answers.

How to prove to yourself warriors are not OP

And as far as the “just learn how to roll” comment that was made, tell me how rolling helps me at all when almost every warrior in PvP brings longbow so they can just spam combustive shot on point.

Where as classes like Necros can spam mass wells and marks, Engis mass grenades so I don’t get your point with combustive shot.

Read the rest of the thread. I’ll bet you that Necro is still in light armor and that Engineer in medium, and neither are regenerating around 500 hp/s.

Signet of rage paired with Cleansing Ire, Furious, Sharpened Axes, Inspiring Shouts, Versatile Rage, etc. and the basic way adrenaline gain works ensures that you won’t have difficulty building it back up.

Yeah, and Necro has Death Shroud, and with all the water blasting an Engi can do they can heal well over 500 HP/S. We might have heavy armor but it is something like 14% compared to light and 7% compared to medium. And an Engi has decent access to protection which more than makes up for it.

And Signet of Rage is rarely used for the passive so you can’t really count that as adrenaline gain. I would also hope in tourny play they would carry Battle Standard instead.

Nobody carries sharpened axes (let alone uses axe), furious rarely sees a whole lot of play, shouts aren’t really used in PvP.

It is really only one build that is causing people so much grief and that is the hambow build. Most other builds are average at best and can be easily countered.

Death Shroud is nothing with the out of control burst going on. Minor inconvenience at most.

Engineer healing certainly does not calculate to 500 HPS, I would love to see your math on that.

You are saying 14% and 7% like that is nothing.. lol… I’m just going to chalk this up to your signature and assume you are going to defend warrior to the death.

You can do that with a medkit if you use all your skills off cooldown (kinda).

Or with Healing turret if you drop it, overcharge it and then pick it up + Alchemy IX (if you spend most of your time with a kit)

Healing Signet was the wrong buff. Instead of promoting the old game design, they put a bandaid fix that covered it.

Another thing:

From what I got, warrior at first was split in 2: Warrior and Juggernaut class. Then they decided that the difference between the two was too slim, and merged them.

Seems like ANet decided the warrior should look a bit more like the juggernaut, and gave signet and stances.

If that’s the case, maybe they should be split again: Warrior as a class that might even be sturdy, but is ultimately based on movement, with a “wrecking ball” type of gameplay, in and out of the fight.

Juggernaut as a class that is highly resistant and deals heavy damage BUT is slow and every single attack is a skillshot (telegraphed and requires aiming). When all those skillshots land, the juggernaut is unstoppable, when too many skillshot miss, the class becomes laughable.
