Yes this happens because they can’t make a non-garbage client. It just runs out of memory because of compatibility issues between 32 and 64bit. Not that it matters, the issue occurs on both cases anyway.

If Burn was op as you say, then I’m sure Anet would nerf it.

You confuse things. Dhuumfire got basically deleted cuz it was on necro and nobody wants things like necro, ranger to ever be too strong.

Now that burn is overpowered but unavailable in way necro can really benefit from it, it’s all good. I’m not saying burn guard or engi are overpowered, but the condition itself is pretty broken.
OP: Run signet of stone not protect me. There is only 1 thing you can reliably dodge on burn guard and that’s the torch throw. Maybe purging flames depending on how clever they are with it.

Try moving out of range when you’re immobilized/knocked down? Sure, that’s always worked wonderfully. 8k Whirling Wrath is easy to land if you want to.

That said, if you’re bringing downed health into it (which death logs usually do), then it is immensely misleading, since when you’re downed, you have no active defense, nor cleanse.

That said, death logs, especially with conditions, are terribly unhelpful for figuring out what really killed you. If you take hits doing the following:
6k direct, 1k burn
4k direct, 1.5k burn
4.5k direct, 900 burn
3k direct, 1k burn
6.5k direct
5k direct, 1k burn
2k direct, 1.3k burn
7k direct, 500 burn

Burning will be shown at the top of the list with 7.2k damage. So that was the deadly part, right? Well, no, since the 36k direct damage was definitely a much larger contributor. But since no individual skill on the direct damage beat out the total of burning, burning is shown as the highest damage.

I like how you get it.

That’s why I don’t trust death logs. It combines the condition damage received and posts them in its generic form, instead of listing the source of condition from skill used

i.e. 2300 zealots flame, 930 purging flames, 4300 ring of fire, 3100 drakes breath 900 burning speed, 600 fan of fire etc, It will add all those up and list it as 12130 Burning.

Then someone will qq on the forum and say nerf burning even though the damage came for 3 classes through 6 skills.

Yeah those 3k burning ticks from 1 person must be my imagination.

It actually gets over 6k. From a single guard. In less than 3-5secs.

It’s not a kittening risk/reward scenario. Other classes don’t have risk/reward stuff on their strongest skills. And corruptions aren’t even close to what other skills can do.

From aoe cleanses to aoe stability, proper fields, reflects, invulnerabilities..what exactly do they sacrifice? How would it feel if a warrior using shake it off would self-weakness? Nobody would run it. What about a mesmer using timewarp self-inflicted slow?

Corruptions are garbage and nobody really uses them except if they really need to. Like plague form cuz lich sucks and golem is potatoes, both regarding AI and utility. Oh and some use CPC for soloing stuff but I doubt solo capabilities are reasons for balance.

I’m gonna explain.
Proper fields means highly useful fields such as smoke, water, fire. Sure, all fields are useful to an extent but you can’t really compare the benefit of poison and dark to fire and smoke.

@Bhawb I never said combo field+finisher isn’t very important. You said it’s the biggest contributor to team play and I disagreed and provided examples of other things far more important.

On the same note, d/d ele isn’t completely built around combo synergy. Not at all. They got 2 fire fields that are pretty short in duration and 2 reliable blasts. The earth dodge from evasive arcana might not always be available since you gotta dodge stuff outside of your rotation(or maybe in water for the extra sustain) and nobody really uses churning because it’s risky and easy to dodge anyway.

They only had so much might because of the now nerfed fire traits, and long ago from OP battle sigil(also nerfed).

Sorry I meant from the perspective of skill use value not immersion roleplaying clever-combo value.
As in, doing something useful not just feeling satisfied and non-moronic while pressing those buttons.

Nope, combo finishers aren’t the biggest contributor to group play. Party-wide buffs, cleanses, positioning and coordination(more than blasting a field) are all much more important.

The whole point of trans charges was so pvp players could wardrobe for cheap/free so they aren’t forced to farm pve gold.

Pvp already gives like 0 gold/hour anyway, the charges were the only worthwhile reward really. Except the brief wintersday track period, which was nice but even so less gold than mindlessly chest farming.

Also are really people who use tomes for like 20silver/tome really relevant? Compared to how many use the charges? I believe not!

Except zealot’s fire(which is tricky) there isn’t much to dodge on a burn guard.

And no, chains of light aren’t dodgeable unless you expect it.

Ele is pretty balanced now. If you want to go with the flow, you should roll a Ranger or a Warrior.

Yea that 0.5s burn nerf on drake’s breath really balanced the kitten out of it.
They lose all their 1v1s now and their rotation of f2, dodge, 5, 2 really got ruined. Totally don’t heal back to full hp anymore.

Really took that feedback to heart.
We really been asking for more passive and random stuff. I remember seeing so many posts about fire air sigils being just not enough. So you added passive signet procs, kept stuff like chill of death and added even more!
Now warrior gets their passives buffed too, makes sense since they were a bit behind.

Broke ranger as it’s common to do every once in a while. Make sure they stay down in the gutter for longer. Give them some apparently OP stuff then nerf everything else to balance for that. The dhuumfire way!

Instead of properly reworking axe on necro you just buff the damage. Tweaking the numbers can either go to making a no-counterplay overpowered attack, or a lackluster weapon with no damage.

At least you cut down on the PU. Too bad inspiration and illusions are just as strong.

I heard you kittened up the auras on ele as well. Oh and icebow. Only cele d/d had to go you know, not the whole class.

why? It never made sense you can stack confusion/bleeds but not psn and burns. Also only 1 class is really crushing the burning and its d/d ele. Burn guardians have be shown over and over getting countered. Ive literally seen matches where necros run in the fire of guardians and send it back and the guardian cant do anything.

Plus burn guardians give something up to be burst condi, d/d eles do not which is why burns for them is op as oppose to burns themself being op.

Well it does make sense now doesn’t it?!

Just because necros can counter burn guards just a bit it doesn’t mean the mechanic isn’t broken. I mean really, you see the signet of plague and you know the necro has staff cuz everybody runs staff and you just yolo with the burns?

Do you think having a DoT thing that by definition is, you know, over time, ticks for 6k per second is fine? How is that normal? Don’t compare it to backstab cuz thieves can’t just backstab every other second.

tl;dr Condi guard isn’t overpowered by any means. This doesn’t mean burning shouldn’t be toned down/reverted to original form.

Condi mesmers don’t need to shatter that often and between scepter and staff they got more than enough clone generation anyway. So axe doesn’t do much, but I agree a condi ranger has a much higher chance than power.

Power ranger can’t do anything against them. The range advantage means nothing when they got perma stealth.

The only reason people play shatter instead of condi it’s cuz condi has huge ramp time and takes forever to deal damage, while shatter is 4,2,f1 and gg.

The baseline marks and the new merged version of soul marks along with autoattack velocity buff made staff a lot better.

But it was still a staple of pretty much every pvp necro build since forever. Think of it as shortbow on thief.

Power d/d was a valid choice(yet inferior to warhorn even then) before the crazy buffs to curses and the rework of plague signet.

Now, as I stated before there is no need for neither transfer nor some silly weakness. You get 50% weakness just by hitting stuff and on top of that enfeeble on f1. It’s not perma but it’s kitten close.

Do you people honestly think slapping a few blast finishers on some skills would do anything to improve the necro in a significant way?

In pve there are plenty of classes to provide blasts, having some extra redundant utility via blasts does nothing. Not that it even matters right now since everybody runs phalanx war and rolfstomps through stuff.

As for other game modes the lack of fields renders blasts useless. 1 aoe blind stack? 3s of weakness? lol.

If anet wanted to make necro viable they would make blood magic not garbage. I know it’s 10% less garbage than before but still pretty much..garbage.

Combos occur when you execute a finisher in a field. You will get the combo visual cue if you either provided the field, the finisher or both and it’s a floaty heart split in 2 parts of brown shades. The first field set down takes priority over others used afterwards, until it expires obviously.

Most important fields are fire, water, smoke but you shouldn’t neglect the others either.

Most important/common finishers are blast and leap. Projectile is also very common, often in the 20% chance form like the pistol auto, but it’s not as relevant. Whirl finisher is basically a point blank aoe consisting of multiple projectile finishers.

Yes, you have to detonate the napalm(skill2) on flamethrower to get the blast finisher. Ideally you want to detonate after it first deals damage by passing through the enemy but the skill is already buggy as it is so just spam 2 and detonate instantly. Avoid aiming downwards or it bugs and goes through the floor.

Oh and keep in mind that blast finishers have a 360 radius(small) so you have to be close to gain the benefits.

Engineer has access to fire, ice, light, smoke, poison, water, lightning and ethereal which is 8/9 total. That’s pretty good. Ethereal and lightning are however restricted to a trait and elixir x rng. Also amazing access to blast finishers.

No. Staff is very good in pvp. Pretty much mandatory actually. You probably can run axe instead of it in some gimmicky bunker/mm builds.
For pve dagger with focus warhorn is ideal.

Assuming these new players stick around and eventually buy HoT I consider the situation perfectly handled.

Gathering wood and talking to npcs doesn’t teach you anything about the toxicity of a virtual environment. They gotta get ready for the raids.

I agree dungeon selling should be illegal. So should supermarkets. I mean the purpose of food is to obtain it and outright buying it kinda ruins the whole experience of gathering berries and slaying wildlife.

It also ruins food because it takes away from the fun and towards effectiveness.

Dungeon selling is something anet tolerates, hence their lack of involvement unless map breaking/exploits is used ^^

Use rifle, at least for leveling. It’s faster because power is a lot better before 80.

As for kits, the pve standard is grenade, elixir gun, flamethrower. Your highest damaging skills are rifle 3 and 5, grenade toolbelt+2 and 4, elixir gun 4, flamethrower 2. Try to use those as much as possible.

Use fast targeting to aim grenades. Spam grenade auto if everything else is on cooldown but that’s rarely the case with engineer.

Edit: You don’t need a gaming mouse. You won’t press that 1 button more than 3-4 times in a row anyway.

The reason people don’t take offhand dagger anymore is because it’s useless. It was viable in scepter/dagger condition builds. Those builds suck now.

As for the utility it provides the class rework made it obsolete. Necro has enough transfers with staff4 and double plague signet. Weakening shroud gives more than enough weakness uptime and doesn’t waste time casting either.
