The only thing that makes mesmer harder is getting ganked by thieves and such things.
Also covering a node doesn’t mean anything if the guy attacking you is off node pelting away and you can’t do anything about it.

Also the grenades aren’t invisible. You can see where they come from and it’s pretty obvious who throws them. Unless you are in the clusterkitten of aoe spam that is the node and then you clearly can’t position properly. They don’t have aoe indicator for a good reason. If they had, there would be so many red circles you wouldn’t know from what they are from.

Cele engi no skill gets carried by amulet.
Mesmer very skillful fire air procs from 1200 range just kite engi for days they can’t land a single grenade and the only reliable pressure is rifle auto which hits like potato.
Seems balanced to me.

I also have many friends that would totally get gemstore items if they were free of charge.
Anet pls make gemstore free for all so my friends can get your gemstore stuff!

Not all the game items obviously, just the gem ones. I think it would highly increase the number of players acquiring skins if those skins were free.

I feel this would create a larger community of people using gemstore skins. That can’t be bad or illogical in any way.

Terror Necromancer vs Turret Engineer

Condi necro(at least the terror version) can’t hard counter turret engi. Necro usually counters the popular engi builds like condi or cele because they can transfer the condis back and chain fear them. Turret engi has almost 0 condis to transfer back so you are forced to spam bleeds which they can outsustain and if you get close and get hit by any cc skill you are dead.
Yes you can eventually kill them if you never get on the node but that’s a huge waste of time.

Now condi ranger has much better chance because they got the sword evades and their infinite immobilize spams which can pin down the engi easily.

People say go staff ele against turret. You can go skullcrack warrior and rolfstomp them too but staff ele is generally more useful in a team comp, while skullcrack is just a troll 1v1 build.

So much healing power investment is just too much. You are giving up on too many better choices.
Condi being your best DPS, but no Incendiary Powder or Shrapnel?
Alternatively no Short Fuse to make up for it.

In short, your counter DPS/pressure via condis or even CC will be too poor too make reliable use of the healing power.

You shouldn’t use engineer in your signature if you don’t even know the buttons!
You decap with flamethrower(15s), bomb toolbelt, shield(you can take rifle too) + magnet and other such things! No cc?? lol!
The whole point is to take elixir infused bombs. Why wouldn’t I invest in healing power? Silly.
There is simply no place to take incendiary. Also with bombs you get plenty of burn. Shrapnel is pretty bad. I would take accelerant packed turrets if I could but as I said before, no place for it. No tradeoffs to be made.

I said no DECAP potential.
You do not want to waste shield reflect as a pure knockback in most cases.
You can’t really use magnet to solo decap.
So you decap, then what? Without actual counter pressure he will just get back on cap long before your CDs are up, which you will NEVER outsustain with bomb heals.

No place for IP? Its only the most OP trait an Engineer has.
Shrapnel bad? WHAT?

This is getting silly! You don’t seem to understand many things. No problem, I explain.
You burn whatever cooldowns you have to depending on the situation. Many times it’s worth to even use your crate just to get a cap/decap. It’s all situational obviously!

Decap means to turn a point that is capped by the enemy into neutral. It takes roughly 6s give or take. It can be done when the node is unguarded but more relevant to this build is that you can do it when the enemy is guarding it.
To achieve decap you use a variety of cc that moves your target, namely knockbacks, launches and whatnot with the possible addition of immobilize and to a lesser extent cripple, chill, stun etc.

Moving on! What do you do after decap. You got plenty of counter pressure and damage mitigation to outsustain the enemy. What is more, because of your spammable cc skills you can not only decap but fullcap too!

What is full cap you might ask? It’s when a node that is neutral is capped by your team! It takes roughly 13s. It’s the same as decap except it takes longer. You use the same method to achieve it.

There is no place for incendiary powder because there is no trait to remove. Simple as that. Incendiary powder is taken in most engi builds because they use grenades so they lack burns and in bomb builds because you already go 6 in explosives and since you don’t need grenadier you might as well take it. Why would you ever need more burn when you got your fire bomb, napalm and incendiary ammo. That’s pretty much perma burn and as a bonus, huge uptime on fire fields to blast away that dps-increasing might. Might is a boon that increases condition damage and power by 30 for each stack. It’s very important to deal more damage.

Shrapnel isn’t the worst choice in the adept slot(exploit weakness for example) but it’s not the best. Almost any engi takes accelerant packed turrets over it except if you go full condi rabid max deeps 1v1 hero build.

But why would most engis do that you might ask confused yet again. Because it makes your heal turret act as cc source. This can be used in many creative ways to prevent a stomp or rez, stop people chasing you and other such important things. As a bonus it also improves the cc from your supply crate.

One big problem: that heal. Ways to tweak the healing turret that might make engineers a bit less ridiculous:

- remove the blast finisher. It’s almost never used as a turret, instead used to drop-cast-blast as fast as possible. Without that blast, the burst heal from the turret is significantly reduced – any engineer wanting that heal would have to sacrifice another of their precious explosions, or make use of the slow effect of regeneration, or pick up their turret and wait for their heal to come off cooldown like everyone else does.

- increase the cooldown for all turrets that were destroyed/detonated.

Heal turret actually heals more if you pick it up instead of blasting. Most people blast it because it’s faster and they need all the heal they can get in that very moment.
Also, funny thing but..why you want to kill engi?

Hello. After great time of theorycrafting I have created the perfect engineer build for sPvP.

The times are dark. With the celestial meta, engineer simply can’t outdps or outsustain the immortal eles and wars. Well, fear no more! 20642 is here to save the day!

Pros: Sustain, big decap potential via big ol’ bomb, magnetic inversion and air blast, team support via heals and even stealth. It really heals a lot, too bad doom sigil spam kinda ruins it but whatever.
Cons: Weak to cc because no stunbreak(you can use elixir gun or even slick shoes instead of toolkit), weak to conditions.

Rune, sigils(keep energy though) and first 2 traits in inventions are optional.

This isn’t a serious buid but I think it has potential.

You can stealth and might stack(so your dps isn’t 0) by blasting your smoke bomb and your 2 fire fields. Blast finishers are magnetic inversion, big ol’ bomb(useful to launch downstate noobs away too), flame blast, heal turret etc.

For decaps you got a huge variety of skills. All of this is left to your personal resourcefulness.

You can also go with hoelbrak runes and celestial amulet. Actually I think that’s the better choice really.
FAQ:
Can I take power shoes instead? A: No, it sucks and you lose the vigor which is godsend for engis.
Why not protection injection over backpack regenerator? A: lol.
Why those first 2 traits in inventions? A: Nothing else is better.
Is this your original idea? A: There are no original ideas.
Are you even good at engineer and if so then you stream? A: No.
Why not turret to farm the perfectly fine leaderboards? A: Don’t. Just, no.

If you remove cele you pretty much kill ele and hurt warrior a lot. Engi is fine because condi is strong and has much more dps than cele.
The amulet is broken but it’s the only way ele is viable.

It would be a nerf for pve because longbow is used as a burst at the start and the end of the fights.
For pvp it would be a huge buff because of sigil procs. Counterplaying power ranger implies mitigating the rapid fire via blocks/evades/los and then getting close to the ranger.

PvE: Buff spotter. Fix sword auto. The common argument is that it’s amazing in pvp but that’s totally untrue. Most power builds use greatsword and they lack sustain in melee anyway. On condi builds it hits like potato and is taken only for defense/mobility.
WvW: Who cares.

PvP: Give rangers more melee sustain in power builds. Make the greatsword auto hit faster and scale damage accordingly. It’s shut down by blinds easily. Make maul a shorter cast time. Make hunter shot stealth even if it doesn’t connect.

General stuff: Make pet evade when the ranger evades. Give it a target cap of 2-3 people so it doesn’t explode in large fights. Make the AI better so it doesn’t eat all the aoe/cleave.

Mesmer is very bad champion. Many ghosts but no dps. Only good vs noob who attack phantoms.
You want hunter. It has double dps because animal attacks and also hunter attacks.

That’s fresh air ele. It’s a high risk build that many find fun but nobody considers it competitive enough because a thief has comparable damage on much lower cooldown. Also thieves move faster. Also thieves can kill fresh air eles unless they rush in yolo mode when the ele has all their cooldowns up.
Necro damage is pretty high. Power necro is a very low skill build that deals tons of damage and has decent sustain via deathshroud. Terror necro also deals damage but there is too much condi removal spam in this meta for them to really shine.

Thief d/d is a bad build.
Cele ele has sustain and can 1v2 people pretty easily. The dps is kinda on the low end.

What you want, namely huge range dps and also being able to sustain outnumbered doesn’t really exist. I guess engineer has decent ranged dps and decent sustain but that means you gotta land them grenades and you will still explode if they immobilize and chain cc you.

If someone is chasing you throw the grenades in front of you. Given you both have the same speed they should land in your wake.
Freeze grenade is the best to make sure the others land. But never miss it.
If you unsure they will connect just throw shrapnel or auto. They still do damage and proc burns and such.

Since the first part is gibberish imma address the teamspeak part.

People who wanna use voice com don’t go all “aw man I wish I could use my mic to talk to these people but I can’t cuz no such feature in game!”. No. They go download the kittening teamspeak, mumble, skype whatever.

As for pugs. It’s hard enough to make them type stuff. It also opens up a lot of verbal abuse potential for which anet has to take responsibility if they provide the communication service themselves.

On ranger you want to entangle halfway through the fight when they use gear shield. Try to prevent them from getting out by wolf fear/knockdown and whatnot.
As power ranger you will lose on node but win in open field.
Condi ranger can rolfstomp engis basically. Run around them and press 1. Frailty sigil on shortbow is good too.

As dps guard you can win if you don’t panic burn your condi removals. Engi is weak to immobilize and you got 1 unavoidable one(scepter) and the hammer one too. If you catch them in ring of warding(which is easy with judges) after they wasted the block you can easily kill them.

On thief if you s/d and engi is decent he will overcharge you at the end of flanking when you are kinda rooted. But that’s not enough to kill you. On d/p try to keep blinds on them. Using head shot to interrupt certain skills also confuses them and if you can predict the heal you can totally shut them down. Try to blast/leap through the ethereal field from throw gunk. That really hurts them.

Most engis walk close to you and overcharge. If you can predict and dodge that you already negated their whole burst.

I said it should be instant cast because the way the skill is designed has the whole “panic button” idea in mind. Like when you are chain cc/immobilized(happens to engineers a lot) and the whole enemy team is just dpsing you heal turret won’t save you but AED could.
It can’t do that currently because of the small cast time. Small doesn’t cut it when you are permastunned.

Most matches last around 7-8 minutes.
How on earth is it logical to force people to wait 5min for a guy to reconnect with his potato isp?
They don’t even do that in tournaments! I mean a guy on enemy team usually goes afk if the others got a disconnect but that’s an honor thing, not game design.

Replace mist form with armor of earth. You just deleted the pressure from hammer warriors.
Sword warrior has 0 pressure, I simply can’t see how they are a problem to you. I honestly can’t even imagine a warrior autoattacking you with sword in wvw. I know you said wvw/pvp but it’s obvious you don’t actually pvp at all.
Axe warriors are kiteable since you have more mobility. Don’t eat eviscerate obviously.

Generally warriors with stances you just gotta kite the berserker stance while doing direct damage pressure(air) and the endure pain while doing conditions(fire and a bit of earth).

In wvw most warriors don’t have a bow so after their berseker stance runs out they can’t remove any condition.

Also most wvwers are terribly horribly bad so just go 12345 and they will die anyway.

How to get the hang of an S/D;D/F Ele?

Whatever the rotation the other guy posted is bad.
For general open world with any dagger(mainhand) build that doesn’t have the fresh air trait(which you won’t get any time soon) you want to finish in air not start in it.

If you start in air then go fire and leave fire your damage will be 0. Literally. And you will be locked out of your dps attunements which are air and to a lesser extent fire.

Your highest damage in dagger/dagger builds is a burning speed, ring of fire, firegrab and swap to air auto rotation. You can toss in a frozen burst too but it’s usually not worth it. Ride the lightning is a dps gain but it’s not worth sacrificing it when you can use it for mobility. Everything should explode after that very easy rotation. Mostly just air autoattack basically.

For staff it’s very easy. Autoattack and use lava font on cooldown. Meteor shower for large hitbox/multiple mobs. You can also stack yourself some decent swiftness with erruption, static field, whatever staff 4 in air is called.

You can always use d/d for mobility and swap to staff when fighting.
People tend to like d/d for the active combat feeling and staff for the huge damage, aoe presence.

Dagger/focus is a more defensive version of dagger build. It’s basically the same thing except it can stack more might and has a projectile mitigation, personal reflect and invulnerability at the cost of mobility and to a lesser extent sustain. If you don’t feel ride the lightning is that good d/f will get you further in difficult encounters.
