Escape:
Description: Escape the area.

  • Ground targetted AoE.
  • 20 second cooldown
  • Instant
  • Removes cripple/Immobilization/chill
  • Wilderness survival skill
  • 1200 range dash.

This skill works just like Whirlwind attack. You place a ground targetted AoE and then run away.

This is what Longbow Rangers need and it will give a sniper feel to the Longbow ranger. If you are in a unsafe position, Use Hunter shot to stealth and then escape.

I prefer this build.

Staff is Utility only. No need to make staff better. Minions die really easily to AoE, with 20% reduction on minions, the cooldown will be insanely short by the time you notice that one of your minions is dead.

Axe’s cripple is not necessary. Bone Fiend and Flesh golem already cripples. I use Dagger because of life steal and immobilization. Immobilization is a great way to stop a player from getting away and then the minions can close in and surround him.

I use Warhorn because Wail of Doom is a great reliable daze. Locust swarm is a recurring cripple compared to Unholy feast. If your target is trying to escape, use Locust swarm and melee him. He can’t escape by removing cripple. He will be pressured by you and all of your minions. Locust swarm is great for escaping. If you have a melee chasing you, locust swarm will cripple them and you will escape faster than them.

I prefer Bone minions over Wurm. The problem with Wurm is that if you place the wurm on a 1 degree slow, you will not escape. It is unreliable. I prefer bone minions to maximize pressure. They are also good body blockers and they have really low recharge.

I use Rune of the Dwyana because it is great support.

I loved the vast amount of different builds you could make experimenting with them was fun and well they would eventually nerf parts of a build. While I wouldn’t mind seeing cross professions again I would rather just see more skills to choose from especially in elites.

On the otherhand, this would give all professions 7 new skills.

Engie a Button Mash Profession?

This game is like a Fighting game.

If you button mash, you can do well. But if you button mash against pro players, they will kill you because they know the counter to button mashing.

Anyone know some tips I should try out with? what build works well? What utility works well with it? What video shows some good Longbow Ranger play?

Bring skills from other profession and give it to all profession called the Core Elite skills.

Warrior: Kick
Necromancer: Blood is Power
Guardian- Hallowed Ground
Mesmer: Mirror clones(No stunbreak)
Thief: Spider Venom
Engineer: Rifle Turret -> Automatic fire
Elementalist: Gylph of Storms
Ranger: Spike Trap

  • These Core Elite skills will have a higher cooldown than the utility’s counterparts. Kick may have a 40 second cooldown while hallowed ground may have 160 second cooldown.
  • Professions cannot use their own profession’s core skill. Example, a Warrior cannot use kick in their elite skill.
  • GW1 allowed players to use skills from other professions, this shouldn’t be awkward in GW2.
  • The primary objective of this is to expand the elite skill selection.

Vigorous Shouts: Increased the base healing by 25%. Increased the healing stat scaling from 80% to 90%

With 2100 healing power, a shout would heal 3380.

You have 2100 healing power how?

I love the assumption that no one is bringing any source of regen except you.

Dude. Why do you keep saying I’m assuming no one else is bringing any source of regen? If you look at the video, theres a lot of regen ticking on my screen, it means its working regardless of whether other people are bringing regen.

What do you mean by banners don’ stack? Each banner grants regen to 5 people. bring out 3 banners and you regen up to 15 people. And why are you comparing 3 shout warriors to a single banner warrior?

Both Shout and banner stack, only in different ways.

Shout stacks by intensity. One shout is worth 1.5k hp, spam three means 6k healing for all your 5 party members.

Banner stacks by increasing the limit to regen to multiple players.

150 stats in all stat allocation is a bit too much.

Just reduce effectiveness by a half, +25 stats per each orb and then see what might happen.

Okay!

The Anti-down state challenge- There are players that hate the down state system so much! Try this challenge if you hate it too!

Rules-

  • If a player goes down in downstate, he is forever dead. No one can revive him. If he accidentally rally, he must get out of the fight and die without affecting the battle.
  • No cheesing or LoSing.
  • Complete one dungeon path with this rule.
  • Optional: The perma-death rule: If your party member goes down, he/she must leave the party. The party can continue but cannot invite any other party members. This means if the leader goes down, the challenge fails.

Zoo Wars 2 challenge- Who let the pets out? Woof, woof, woof.

Rules-

  • Every player must have Sigil of Demon summoning, runes that summon a pet, and all utility and elites must be filled with pets.
  • Professions/Players that doesn’t summon more than two pets are not allowed. This means warrior. Exception ares human warrior, then they can summon Hound of Balthazar.
  • Players are not allowed to attack themselves. Only pets can inflict damage.
  • No cheesing or LoSing.
  • Complete this challenge by killing any mob group, it does not have to be a boss.

Pro-Down state challenge- Do you hate the whiners that hates down state? Try this challenge.

Rules-

  • Players can only damage in downstate.
  • Not all players have to be in down state. But, in order to damage mobs, see rule 1.
  • Players can revive(or in this case, heal) players up to keep their hp up.
  • Kill any mob group to complete this challenge. Does not have to be a boss.

The Turtle challenge- Runeblade hates LoSing and cheesing. But do you disagree? Well, stacking lover, do you love stacking enough to try this challenge?

Rules-

  • You must always stack. Anyone breaking the blob will lose the challenge. This includes moving around while not in combat.
  • To break a stack, one character must at least have a full model away from one of the four other players.
  • Pets are allowed to break the stack.
  • Everything else is allowed, including cheesing.
  • Complete one dungeon path while stacked.

I don’t see how this will exploit the game.

In fact, it will make the game better. If I bought a Rune of the Lich rune, I don’t have to be pigeonholed into my Rune of the Scholar set. I can one day just play as a Death Knight that summons minion with my warrior. Or the next day, play as a Beastmaster that summons rockdogs.

I rather have freedom of play than being pigeonholed because of your so called “individuality”.

So, I think by going away from a healer class all together we’ve lost build creativity.

And you know what? You thought wrong. Completely wrong.

Everyone is running the same build is because AI is terrible and exploitable. It is designed so that control and support are completely useless. Everything is balanced around dodges.

You don’t need to bring immobilization, or cripple. You don’t need to bring interrupts.

If everyone could always swap to the right sigil, then everyone would just stop combat and put up the Dredge Sigil all at once and burn through the content. It would make it so there are no choices in particular situations. It would essentially force your hand to only purchase certain sigils for certain weapons.

As oppose to filling up inventory with weapons with different sigils?

Vitality- survive.

A player with high toughness will be able to endure auto-attacks from many enemies for a long period of time.

A vitality player will be able to survive surprise bursts and other instant death attacks.

Like someone said, poison. But the passive heal isn’t that high, you must be mad.
Look at Elems, they have lots of regen skills. Yet I don’t cry about it.

Elementalist’s regen is nowhere as good as warrior’s regen.

Also, stop with this Poison joke. To let poison really do something against permanent regen, you have to mantain it permanently, which is impossible considering how stupid good are warrior’s condition cleansing.

Warrior’s regen is slightly better because it is a HEALING skill. Elementalist regen is in a Weapon skill, and traits.

Elementalist’s burst heal is BETTER than the warrior’s burst heal on healing signet.

Its getting to the stage where fighting warriors has become extremely tiresome. Immune to conditions taking 0 dmg shield block stuns mobility, its ruining the game for so many people, ive not spoken to anyone who doesnt think warriors are broken. We cant wait another 3 weeks for this to change.

8 second immunity.

Survive that long and warrior becomes vulnerable to conditions.

The only reason why Warriors are really good is because it directly counters condition builds. If the meta strays, warriors will be worthless again.

It wouldn’t solve anything. Dungeon is not boring because of just high hp. Dungeon is boring because everything is predictable.

Anything is going to be predictable after the first few times.

Of course it is going to be predictable if the game is balanced around patterns. Your suggestion isn’t helping to breaking that pattern.

Are you kidding me? this class is very good. Its a hard class to play but once you learn it half way decently you are extremely powerful. Im not calling for a nerf but i am so confused why ele’s are always whining. S/D and D/D ele are extremely strong.

Yeah. No. The majority of their burst is extremely telegraphed (unlike most classes), involves only burning as a condition (unlike most classes), unless you somehow get hit by CE, is EXTREMELY squishy (unlike most classes), and doesn’t have a reliable escape.

An immobilized GC Elementalist is the squishest thing in the game.

An immobilized GC elementalists is a dead elementalist.

So why not use Cleansing burst to GTFO?

Drastically Improves the Fire Attunement, completely locks out Air.

Traits like this, that improve yet simplify the class.

I disagree with destroying the mechanic and playstyle.

But instead, I would like skills animation/graphics be replaced instead. If I wanted to be an Earth Elementalist, I could buy skill animations. So my Meteor shower would look like rock falling. My Lava font would look like Eruption with steam all over it. Healing spring would be swampy water etc etc.

Perhaps being able to interrupt reviving with damage would fix the problems people have with downed mechanic.

There is already a way to interrupt reviving.

THEN WHAT THE IS THIS STATEMENT SUPPOSE TO BE!?!: it is a problem, it puts a huge focus on survival builds, and change the entire way fighting function.
the balance is much more broken becouse of it since the downed abilities varies so extremely depending on class (effectiveness).

downing system is an annoying gemmick which add nothing positive to the battlefield.
but as said anet is too invested in this gemmick to remove it, so the best we can hope for is a spvp type where we can decide to disable it.

The entire time you are whining about downstate is about people speccing to survive.

The lack of downstate won’t change that. People spec to survive because they do it to protect an objective.

i never complain about people speccing to survive. i am complaining about downing state completely killing dps/fast reaction focused specs.

People speccing to survive =/= killing dps.

If you want to play a DPS/fast reaction focused spec, then play as one. I don’t know why downstate is stopping you.

I play a glass cannon SD engineer, and I do fine in killing tons of players. If you don’t want to stomp players, get other players to stomp them.

and here you just pointed out one of the major issue’s with the down system -.-
still you havent commented on what it is that it adds which is so importent/good and is best added by the downing system?
i really cant find anything, i cant find the reason for the system being in the game in the first place.

It isn’t an issue though because I just told you a way around. If you want to be overly stubborn about it, it is best to find another game.

Down state system is fun for me because it gives a second chance. Whenever I go down, and I just stay there to accept my fate. Then suddenly, my teammate comes out of nowhere and blast the enemy away from me and resurrect me up. I like that feeling.

It’d be nice if the dungeons were something like dark souls, maybe give mobs 50% more damage but 30% less hp, that way they’re actually challenging and not just boring and long.

Gw1 AI had to be great because heroes and henchman had to perform just like players (at times better) since pets is that only thing that uses that AI in gw2 it really isn’t a concern to the devs.

Wrong. Pets aren’t the only AI around.

Mobs need AI
NPC need AI
Bosses need AI.

Wasn’t the fact that all those that use the AI in gw2 are terrible the problem at hand?

In gw1 if henchman didn’t perform people comaplained and it got improved, I strongly believe that mob AI isn’t a priority for devs.

THEN WHAT THE IS THIS STATEMENT SUPPOSE TO BE!?!: it is a problem, it puts a huge focus on survival builds, and change the entire way fighting function.
the balance is much more broken becouse of it since the downed abilities varies so extremely depending on class (effectiveness).

downing system is an annoying gemmick which add nothing positive to the battlefield.
but as said anet is too invested in this gemmick to remove it, so the best we can hope for is a spvp type where we can decide to disable it.

The entire time you are whining about downstate is about people speccing to survive.

The lack of downstate won’t change that. People spec to survive because they do it to protect an objective.

i never complain about people speccing to survive. i am complaining about downing state completely killing dps/fast reaction focused specs.

People speccing to survive =/= killing dps.

If you want to play a DPS/fast reaction focused spec, then play as one. I don’t know why downstate is stopping you.

I play a glass cannon SD engineer, and I do fine in killing tons of players. If you don’t want to stomp players, get other players to stomp them.

No.

If you want to protect your teammates, play guard.

If you want to heal your teammates, play staff ele.

If you want to have personal sustain, increase your damage output and kill your opponent instead of trying to bunker.

This game’s main philosophy is that you can play your way, so I respectfully disagree with you.

Then, why can’t my warrior stealth himself?

Retaliation is incredibly broken and needs a rework anyway.

Why would Anet nerf % proc abilities/sigils by slapping ICD’s on them but not nerf Retaliation?

Why are rapid attacks punished but also not rewarded? What’s the point?

Retaliation is a counter to rapid fire attacks.

Aegis and other blocks are counters to single attack burst damage.

I think it’s fine as it is.
If anything, it’s Warrior’s Healing Signet who needs to be toned down, making it scale more with Healing Power – but that’s a different topic.
Keep in mind that you can also trait to have a “free” regeneration when going into stealth which, coupled with 300 Healing Power for 30 SA, could heal you for a lot more.

I completely disagree.

If a thief has access to Shadow Rejuvenation , they can still access to a burst heal.

Healing signet burst heal is awful.

Gw1 AI had to be great because heroes and henchman had to perform just like players (at times better) since pets is that only thing that uses that AI in gw2 it really isn’t a concern to the devs.

Wrong. Pets aren’t the only AI around.

Mobs need AI
NPC need AI
Bosses need AI.

It will be insanely hard to balance.

There are no healers. So if you get focus fired, you will die. The meta will all be about burst and huge DPS.

Removing downstate will destroy the feel of combat.

Give Necros underwater Undead shark if Flesh golem look goofy in underwater.

It is tiring that my flesh golem is destroyed because I jumped into the water.

It’s not.
It’s true that Pvp needs balance, but it also needs to be more fun to play and watch, a healthy meta it’s not all you need to have a fun game and let’s be honest any meta is just a transition period, the condi meta end and another type of meta start , with it another cycle of whining threads.

If at the very least we make PvP more fun to play…things would look brightier

I want PvP more fun to play, the best way to move to that direction is to not implement trash similar to Skyhammer and Raid of the Capricorn.

World bosses and condition cap solution

Suggestion:

World bosses will now stack only up to one DoT condition instead of 25, Confusion remains untouched for now until someone figure out a better solution. If a world boss have a DoT condition like bleed, burning, poison on it, then every other DoT conditions will be converted to raw damage.

Reason:

  • Stacking up to one DoT is there to not screw with the “Do more damage for every condition on the boss” builds
  • Converting DoT to raw damage will make Condition builds more useful.
  • The reason for the stack is to slow down lag, which is a legitimate issue. This solution will make condi builds useful while not destroying the server.

This only applies to world bosses not mobs.
